Hello people.
I've Samsung S4 phone and I like S memo on it, but I want it on my tablet, So is it possible to get it on my Nexus 7? I already tried to copy the APK To system/apps and gave it permissions by Root Explorer, but it FC
Any help?
Generally, the OEM-specific features are tied to their modified versions of Android and won't run on anything else. For example, you can't install HTC Sense stuff on AOSP either.

Is it possible to replace the HTC "Messages", "People" and "Phone" with the default Android Apps or apps from another android phone?
Yes the stock ones are certainly possible. The easiest way would be to download Cyanogenmod 6 and extract them from there and then push them to your phone.
I have done this before and can confirm it works just fine.
Just picked up a new T-Mobile Note 2 and getting down to some rooting again, been awhile since Ive ROMd an android. Was hoping to stick to some stockish roms because i like the sammy bloatware (SNote, AllShare, Air View, SVoice, to name a few) and i would like to keep those features while running a custom rom because i also want to use Google Wallet. I was following a guide but i got stuck because I can't edit the build.prop file. I can use root explorer to open it, edit and save it, but when i open it up again, even without reboot, it reverts back to the original build.prop. Does this on rooted stock 4.1.2 and current Jedi Master 13 rom, any suggestions? thanks in advance.
I had the original optimus g on att and had been running a leaked version of 4.1.2 and was able to get an aosp version of the mms.apk to run (didnt like the one on the rom, no emojis haha) and since this is running 4.1.2, would it be possible to swap in that same mms app if i root the decive? If anyone braver than me wants to give it a try i still have the mms.apk i had on my OG. Or possibly root, install tb and then freeze stock/restore backup of mms.apk? If anyone has done this already then awesome, if not maybe ill do it this weekend (became a bit of a flash-o-holic with my OG so i cant wait for someone to tear into this and get some nice roms loaded

You can install the MMS.apk as a user app and not a system app. Makes it quite a bit less risky. If it causes problems you can just uninstall it.
whenever i try to install it it keeps saying its a system app and then fails cuz it says there is an app with a conflicting signature. is there a special way to install it as a user app instead of system or does it all depend on the apk?
I was messing around with this the day after I first got mine. Since they have the same signature, you can't install both at the same time. The only way that I would suggest doing this safely is to be rooted, set the system\app folder to read/write, rename the UniMessagebin.apk to UniMessagebin.apk.bak, then rename UniMessagebin.odex to UniMessagebin.odex.bak. Copy your mms.apk file to the system\app folder and rename it to UniMessagebin.apk then set permission on it to -rw-r--r--. Then set you system\app folder permissions back to rwxr-xr-x.
You should NOT need to reboot at this point. If the apk is valid and will work the the current system framework, you should see it show up in your app drawer. I was able to get the AOSP 4.1.2 mms.apk to run ok on my phone, but MMS messages weren't working (apparently a known issue with 4.1.2 AOSP). If the apk force closes or doesn't show up as valid, go and delete it from your system\app folder and rename the other two files back to their original names before you attempt to reboot.
Good luck!
i actually found one that worked but didnt have the popup like i had on my original og and the stock one on pro has it...plus the notifications didnt work at all...only reason i knew i had msgs waiting was cuz i happened to open the app...thankfully gf knows wat a geek i am and believed me when i told her haha. back to hunting i guess...thanks for all the help
and then i came across this one...so far has everything i wanted and a dark theme too http://bit.ly/125siHO lets see if notifications work...sux being the only night owl i know haha
I have a problem, I have copied an apk from my Star B943 (rooted) android phone and when I try to install it on my Nexus 7 2013 (rooted) it says apk not installed!! I am a noob and this is my first thread but I really like the holo design of this apk but I think it won't install because my tablet is not a mediatek device or because it was a system app? Could I possibly change my build.prop or does it read something else?? I honestly have no idea but any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Why would that app run on the Nexus 7 (4.3)? More than likely the app is too old to run on this version of Jelly Bean.
Even for me its not instaling, priblem prasing package.
I disagree with ^^^

If it's having problems installing the APK due to a parsing issue it's likely either corrupt, built from an incompatible version of Android, or is otherwise incompatible with the hardware provided. It could also not be properly crypto signed, I reckon.
I think it might be not compatible with the hardware as is doesn't work on my brothers S3 running 4.2.2, and what is crypto-signing? I am quite new!
Could this apk be recompliled (Changing target sdk in manifest and then recompiling?) to be compatible or is it not possible without completely rewriting the app? Thanks
Have you tried to just put it in /system/app to see what happens instead of clicking it to install it?

I tried that. It doesn't show up in the app drawer and TB says it is there but not installed. Even after changing permissions.
I betting that this won't work. It could rely on framework from the other tablet, kind of like TouchWiz widgets not working on another launcher other than the stock TW Launcher.

The same thing happened to me, oh well was worth a try
Hi, my mom has the Dual modification (GT-I9192). Recently I installed Lineage OS 14.1 with Android 7.1.2 on her phone (because Android 4 didn't support many modern applications already), and she can't get used to the new dialer and contacts applications. She constantly misclicks contacts on the Favorites screen and keeps calling wrong people.
I wonder if it's possible to somehow rip the original apps from the stock firmware and transfer them to the new one, because my mom really liked them. I had downloaded stock firmware (I9192XXUAMH2), opened it with ext4 unpacker, found app folder, but I can't find the right one. SecContacts.apk is what I'm looking for? Anyways, I just don't know the right way to do it. I gained root on the device and looked into the priv-apps folder of the new system, found Dialer and Contacts applications. No sign of SecContacts which I could try switching by the old one. And I'm not sure that it would even be compatible, thinking of different Android versions. Maybe I need some sort of flashable zip of the dialer app for flashing in recovery mode (I use TWRP, but it's not very relevant, I suppose)?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
