Any hope for a ENG HBOOT? - Verizon HTC One (M7)

Do we have any hope of finding an ENG HBOOT? I would really like to change my modelid back to stock.

Can't this be done with the hex edit method posted in the development thread?

I checked the HBOOT and it's listed as PN0731000, not as PN073**** as listed in bootloader.

Dont need an eng hboot , everything can be done by hex edits these days .

PN073**** = SuperMID
those who are S-OFF threw sonic have it, with the only way to get it back to stock is with ENG hboot, or maybe you can flash the RUU go back to S-ON then use rumrunner if you REALLY wanted it back to stock.

Yes, I know the significance of this MID. I doubt that the RUU will overwrite the modelid. I believe ENG HBOOT is the only way.

No, but setting it back to S-ON, *may* change it.

When S-OFF'd by Sonic's method, the JavaCard cleared the block (I believe it's referred to as the s26 block) which contains things like the S flag, MID, and CID. Turning S-ON will change the flag, but will not write the MID because it can be one of several MIDs (since the ONE is on several carriers).

it prolly can be hex edited. we just need to find the block hboot is reporting from. ive been meaning to look into this for you guys,lol.. just have been busy lately.

nope... cid and mid will remain unchanged when you s on.
as far as the eng hboot,i *think* you can use the one from the dna forum, that the other one folks have used. it works on the sprint variant, and since sonic has flashed the gsm 1.44 hboot i would venture to guess it would work here too. despite that, id not really recomend trying it. it wont boot the phone due to the partition differences, and it is a freakish experience,as sometimes you dont see a bootloader, just a grey screen.
if you hang in there well look for the mid block.
if someone has one thats going back anyway, you can try it. youll need to:
-make up your own zip file to install the eng hboot
-fastboot oem writemid xxxxx
-immediately reinstall your old hboot,so have a copy of that ready and in your fastboot directory

Really? People are flashing the DNA HBOOT? Might be an easy way out.
Just to confirm, those who are stock or S-OFF'd with rum show MID: PN07100?
EDIT: I see now. Can flash anything in the 8064 group of HBOOTs.

dammit! out of thanks on the PC
thanks to the dumps from kdj67f and davehasninjas ive located the mid in p6.i think the next step is to falsh the eng hboot on my one, change the mid,and then verify what i think will change. at that point, its just a simply hex edit or adb command to change back

i have now installed the eng hboot, made a copy of the oem commands, and changed the mid. the good news is that i observed the change i thot would occur. the bad news is that i thot i had bricked my phone for a few minutes
upon re-installing my stock hboot, the phone just looped on the splash screen. i installed the eng hboot again, changed the mid back to to mobile, still bootloop. luckily an ruu fixed it. *sigh of relief*
not sure what happend. still shaking from the ordeal and 5am comes early,so i think im calling it quits for tonite . ill try to hex edit the mid tomorrow or sat,and see if hboot observes the change, and if i still get a bootloop. despite the scare, weve made some progress

Is my phone dead? Doesn't boot, freezes, errors on wiping or formatting, ...

Hello,
Since friday evening, I cannot restart my phone, and I don't know what to do. I have wiped everything, formatted everything, reinstalled the rom dozens of times, and it never works... sometimes, it gets stuck on the HTC logo, sometimes on the android updates at the first launch, sometimes during the first setup...
You can find a little historic of a previous episode in this thread.
It was a few weeks ago, one day my phone freezed several times, so I decided to reinstall it from scratch, but it didn't work (it freezed on the lock screen), and it seemed that installing the rom (mimicry) without the Virtuous OC Daemon solved my problem. Everything was fine for several days, but... last friday, since everything was fine, I tried to re-activate the Virtuous OC Daemon... Everything was fine, until the evening, when my phone freezed and I could never get it work since that moment... My comments at this moment can be found here.
During the week-end, I have, again, tried everything I imagine possible, from the 4EXT Recovery, reinstalling the rom with ou without each mod, without success...
When I go to tools / wipe or format -> EXT4 / format cache, I get this:
Code:
Formatting /cache...
E:format_volume: make_ext4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p27
E:format_volume: make_ext4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p27
Formatting cache completed.
Dunno if it is a real problem...
Anyway, I don't know what to do, I am afraid my processor is dead or something like that, which would explain the freezes, but it could be something else, I don't know what...
Thank you in advance for your help, I really cannot afford to buy a new phone right now!
Sounds like emmc fried issues. Can you get into bootloader if so can you post the version.

In bootloader, I have this:
Code:
VISION PVT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.85.0005
MICROP-0425
RADIO-26.03.02.26_M
eMMC-boot
Oct 11 2010,20:10:38
Is it what you asked?
Try to flash an ruu for your specic rom that came with phone. If that doesnt flash then your emmc is most likely fried

Before you do that try to use the superwipe+ext4 for the g2. Try to see if that wipes without giving you issues

superwipe gave me some errors (did not note, error 1, I think?), and update from PC10IMG.zip too, and it is stuck on updating the radio:
Code:

It's been working for several minutes, I don't know if it is still working... anyway, the SYSTEM Fail-PU is a bad news, isn't it? what can I do?
Just to be sure you did this through the bootloader right?
Anyways fail pu means failed partition update and has been seen on those phones that contain the bad emmc chip that is more at risk of malfunctioning. At this point you would have to try to contact htc and see if they'll do anything.
It'll be great if someone else chimes into this conversation because I'm out of ideas. I will keep searching and get back to you.
In the meantime here is the contact info for htc france
http://www.htc.com/fr/contact/
Espérons qu'ils résoudre le problème. Bonne chance.

Yes, I did it through the bootloader
Since it was still stuck on updating radio, I removed the battery and tried again, without success (same errors, and even an error on recovery update).
But I have found the following thread GUIDE: Downgrading for those with the PC10IMG.zip not found issue, and tried this method... it seems to have worked:

But the phone still did not boot...
I got back to the hboot, and tried update again, and at this point, it seems to work too, everything was ok (or bypassed for the second TP), I hitted power button to reboot, HTC logo came, then the annoying HTC sound with the "quietly brilliant" logo and... android starts ! \o/
I think I'm not done yet, but it is on a good way!
I have now followed this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...sion#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD
and then re-installed mimicry 1.5 from the touch recovery, the bootanim is running for several minutes, I prefer to wait!
I think I'm gonna be mad with that phone!
it was still not booting after the bootanim, so i decided to install another rom... i started by wiping all data, and it is stuck on formatting /cache...
'adb reboot recovery' is my new best friend!
Well, I have had other strange errors, had to install mimicry a second time, but now, it SEEMS (again, I don't want to be too optimistic !) to be running fine... I have installed Titanium backup, and restored some essential apps... I will check if it is stable before to start using it again as my main phone... for now, the SIM card is in another one!
Just for fun see if you had one of the "bad" batches of chips, check here and post back http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13228425

Are you using 4ext recovery?

I did check that for fun, a few weeks ago, and as far as I remember, I had the "good" one... I will check again later, right now, my colleague is fed up with the tiny vibration my phone makes when it starts... I wouldn't like to receive his mouse or his keyboard in the face!
Code:
C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>adb shell
~ # cat /proc/kmsg | grep 'mmc0:0001'
cat /proc/kmsg | grep 'mmc0:0001'
<6>[ 6.707244] mmcblk0: mmc0:0001 SEM04G 2.17 GiB
Anyway, I'm not done yet with that f***... fabulous phone!
Yesterday, everything seemed fine during all the afternoon... I tried several applications, and it was running smoothly... but in the evening, it started to be slower and slower, and finally it did start to freeze unexpectedly, until the moment it wouldn't boot anymore...
I'm wondering if it is not happening only or mostly when the battery level is low, how could we explain it?
This morning, I tried to install the latest stable CM7.2 release, but it crashed... Like would say Jack White, I just don't know what to dooo with my phone...
Thank you in advance, any help is really appreciated...
logcat attached
Here's a logcat:
I started the phone (after a previous crash, of course), plugged it into my computer, waited for it to crash again, and there it is!
(see attached logcat.txt)
I can see all these services die at the end, but what and where is the explanation of these regrettable deathes?
Anybody?
I have tried again to format all my partitions, reinstall various roms from scratch, but sometimes, the install fails, sometimes it doesn't boot, and when it does, it crashes after a little while... if I have any hardware damage (which seems the most credible), how can I know what exactly? My internal microphone is dead for several months already (I have to use the hand free set), could it be related? Something like an electrical damage when the microphone is sollicitated?

Vcek do you already got a clue what this command is for? I hear of a guy who changed his CID temporarely. Do you know how he did that? Unfortunately I'm not very experienced in fastboot commands nor in adb. But interestingly, when I set the value for ats to 0 I get a security warning message above the "relocked" sign.

If you rooted your Pixel/Pixel XL (The reason people unlock the bootloader.). Why would you lock the bootloader? Locking the bootloader without returning the phone to Stock can result in a bricked phone. Consider yourself, extremely, lucky if you didn't brick it. Go to this thread Do #3 to Unlock bootloader: [Guide] Pixel XL Android 9.0 (Pie) Unlock/Root/Install Images/Kernels/Recovery + by Homeboy76 Then do #4 'keep data', and #8 to root or
side load the OTA if you do not want to unlock the bootloader or root.
The point is this locked bootloader seem to have no or missing library to support command
Anytime i flash file .img got notice
<bootloader> Command is not supported.
<bootloader> Please unlock device to enable this command.

and im stuck in boot_slot a.
fastboot reboot bootloader --slot b > still reboot in boot_slot a
Start or boot in recovery got flashing google logo

Have you tried flashing the factory images? You probably have to go into dev settings and re-enable the unlock bootloader option.
If you re-locked your bootloader with a modified system, cannot boot the device, and cannot unlock your bootloader in fastboot, then you have made a major mistake and it's unlikely that you can fix it.
I've now said this in quite a few posts. DON'T relock your bootloader. Ever. Ever ever.

Question I think I Bricked my Pixel 6 Pro please help!

So I was side loading an update and unplugged the phone because I assumed it was finished flashing. It said 47% complete, but I thought it just meant it was finished.
Anyway, my phone is stuck with a black screen now. It detects it in fastboot but I'm not able to enter fastbootd for some reason. When I try flashing an image, it gets stuck at "Rebooting into fastboot" it will then timeout stating that "fastboot: error: failed to boot into userspace fastboot; one or more components might be unbootable"
My phone can charge. However, everything is just black, I have to plug my phone into the computer, press volume - + power and hope to God I hear that USB connected sound.
Fastboot getvar is-userspace returns NO.
My pixel 6 Pro is now being detected as a SLIDER, (probably cause of the name of the bootloader), because it's not being detected as a Pixel 6 Pro, I cannot use the android flash tool provided by Google.
Please help!
Surely Android flash tool would fix it if fastboot is recognising it
Guide: Unbrick Pixel 6 Oriele or Pixel 6 Pro "Raven"
Pixel 6 Pro runs on a Google Tensor CPU which is in fact an Exynos CPU This means that there is Exynos boot recovery in the CPU You can repair the bootloader using the Samsung Exynos Tool Nothing could be flashed from the mode, however it...

Hello, thank you for the reply.
Android flash tool recognizes it as SLIDER and not as a Pixel 6 Pro. That's why I can't use it. I'm also unsure if this is truely fastboot, I can use powershell to recognize it as fastboot, but when using "fastboot reboot fastboot" it gets stuck on rebooting into fastboot.

Thank you for this, there isn't really any clear method into using this software, I also do not have windows 7 anywhere on me. Anyway, my computer detects it as an Android Bootloader Interface in windows and not as an exynos7420 device. I don't know how to proceed, I don't want to uninstall the driver in fear of losing the recognition of the device while I still have it.
UPDATE: Tried to follow instructions, but can't even install the driver because I'm not on Windows 7, so unfortunately this won't work for me as of yet.

Nobody's been able to fix a p6 with that method.
It's interesting that you were just flashing an ota update via adb. The phone should have just flipped over to the other boot slot and booted. that's why flashing ota adb updates are the safest.
Can you try just holding volume down in power with a phone unplugged? Keep trying that for a while? If you can get to recovery mode or rescue mode, you should be able to use flash.android in fastboot.
Any battery icon when plugging in the charger?

So I didn't do enough research and didn't flash A13 on both slots, I think that's the reason for the "brick" I tried to flash both in pixel flasher after this happened, but nothing has worked so far. What's puzzling me is the fact that it's being recognized as SLIDER and not my pixel 6 pro anymore, even in pixel flasher and the android flash tool from google.
Pressing volume down and power brings me into bootloader mode but nothing comes up on the screen, I need to plug it into a computer to get any results. It also still shows as Slider instead of Pixel 6 Pro so... That's that.
There is unfortunately no battery icon when plugging in the charger. :'(

If you can't see Fastboot Mode on your screen, nothing will work.
Just contact Google and get yourself a replacement. Just takes 2 days.
Also, here's what I got from Pixel Flasher

Is your bootloader unlocked?
If so you can extract and flash the bootloader only from the the latest full firmware images.
If successful, fastbootd should be working again and go ahead and flash the full firmware.

How do you ensure you flash both slots? I downloaded the tool from Google with the .bat file in it.

I used Pixel Flasher, both bootloaders are identical, therefore I assume it is. What tool did you download from google???

Google's factory images can be flashed either by going to flash.android.com or by using CLI (command line interface, for example with the .bat file you were referring to). The bat file has the flash instructions but won't flash both slots. You will either need to flash the active slot, then switch slots, and flash the other, or use something like PixelFlasher (found in this Pixel 6 Pro xda group).
And tread carefully/pay attention the anti-rollback WILL hard-brick ur phone if triggered...no joke.
Any update on this @NinjaPumpkin?
oh frick yeah I need to flash my other slot too

Question [SOLVED] Bricked my Pixel 6 Pro

Hello,
Today I messed up,
I tried to change my Pixel 6 Pro's model from US version to global, so I edit the devinfo.img and pushed it successfully using adb, the same steps shared in some articles on xda.
Now it won't boot again, it's stuck on Google's logo with black background. I still have the original devinfo.img but I don't know how to restore it. I can't boot to fastbootd nor recovery, but I can boot into fastboot mode.
Please help!
50$ to whoever can help me

Maybe try Android Flash Tool to get you back.

trying as we speak, but won't it require the device to reboot to fastbootd? which I can't boot into. can't go anywhere past fastboot and google logo.

update: it didn't work. I'm still stuck on the google logo and can't boot into fastbootd
Is there anyway I can restore the original devinfo?

I don't really know. Hopefully someone else can chime in and help.
I backed up the devinfo partition using dd while rooted. now in this hard situation when I try to restore it using fastboot I get the following:
Sending 'devinfo' (7 KB) OKAY [ 0.000s]
Writing 'devinfo' (bootloader) image (devinfo): rejected, invalid size
FAILED (remote: 'failed to flash partition (devinfo)')
fastboot: error: Command failed

Flashtool is reliable. If you can access fastboot flashtool will work. Just make sure to check the 'force flash all partitions ' box and 'wipe device'

it didn't work for two reasons:
I messed up my devinfo partition
firmware files don't include a devinfo partition.
Anyway, more info about my issue here. I really wish if someone could help:

YES I managed to unbrick my phone. All I had to do was use dd to resize the image with bs=8192 and count=1.
hope someone learns from this. Always keep backups guys, I was just lucky enough to have backed up devinfo before.
Update: phone is working fine but IMEI is a bunch of zeros. Wifi and Bluetooth aren't working.
I did not erase the efs partition at all, it's still there and has files. Devinfo has the correct IMEI and Mac address info as well.
I don't know what's wrong. Reflashing the firmware doesn't solve anything.
Try that again \/. Select Force Flash All Partitions (which will wipe your phone). Deselect re-lock bootloader.

Maybe try Android Flash Tool to get you back.

Edit: Also, you should be just under the 1-year warranty expiration, so act quickly - you might be able to at least get a refurbished but working replacement.

unfortunately I live in Morocco, there is no google store in here. My options are so limited here.
Android flash tool didn't solve my issue.
can anyone send me a backup of his devinfo partition to me? just so I test if it's the root of the problem.

Oh, you're posting about the same problem in two different places. Best to stick with one place, it's less confusing.
Problem solved, a gentleman sent me his devinfo partition and I used hex editor to compare between both and found out the mine was missing few bits. I copied the missing bits to mine and everything worked like a charm. Now I have restored my imei and bluetooth/wifi.

That's awesome news! Yeah, the "dd" backup method isn't 100% reliable, unfortunately. Sometimes it works just fine, others it doesn't, and no way to know without comparison.

Você pode enviar esses backups do deviceinfo para mim, tenho um pixel 6 que está tendo um problema com o E-SIM ID que não está encontrando no meu aparelho! E se possível uma dica que você fez para resolver esse problema!

I can send you mine but I'll need you to root your device and make a backup of you devinfo and efs partitions.
Also I'm not sure if mine will work for you. I have a pixel 6 PRO not a regular one. can you confirm which model do you have?
