Help me shoot trouble - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Okay guys, last week I rooted my sprint gs3 to a basic root, no custom rom or anything. no issues. all i did was move google music folder to relocate to sd card. I was getting a error from the play store telling me the phone was low on space... I've got around 2 gigs available. Wasn't able to find much on a "fix" for this. In the process of trying to free up space before I realized this was a play store "bug" i deleted some apps, accidentally deleting chrome and google talk (two essential apps for me)
1. What can i do to fix this error?
2. Help me
3. thank you.

I have been having the same error with 10 gigs of storage left. Been looking for an answer.

@Tom. What about downloading the apps again?
@Whip. Did you had aosp roms installed before? If yes try wiping internal storage(backup to pc or sd first).
Both of you. Do you use Lucky Patcher?

If i uninstall apps they wont reinstall, specifically chrome, google wallet (this hasnt been able to update) so if i remove apps and go to reinstall they get the error.
I looked for odex files and i didnt find any from the deleted apps (chrome/voice)

[Q] App updates eating my Internal Space

Hello guys, i am having a problem, last night my Adobe flash player automatically got updated, it was previously a system app which was done with titanium, after it got updated, i integrated it into the rom like before.
however i lost 3mb in the process i tried cleaning the dalvick catch and i used sd maid also to delete any dead apps but both did not find anything to clean.
I tired uninstalling it and installing my previous version via titanium backup, but sill i have lost 3mb, Any ideas to how i can retrieve my internal space back?? now I have turned off the automatic updates. thanks.

Were you having the previous installation of Flash player in the sd card?
No, it was originally from the market.
Seriously, you are complaining about 3 MB?
Nevertheless, back to topic: When system apps are updated, the updates are always installed to /data partition. Don't know why, but this gives you the possibility to uninstall updates, which could not be done if updates were installed to /system.

Whenever my internal space starts to get low and some of the applications have been updated more than once I uninstall them and the re-install, it seems to be that my phone is storing data after every update so updating straight to the most recent version seems to take up less space.
I dont know if this is 100% correct but it seems to work for me.
Its not about 3mb, thats one case, if several updates happen then you will have no internal space. I dont have a table for my desire, after all my main apps installed im left with a limited 25mb of internal space so every mb matters. il try that aswel TheDarkenedPoet though. thanks for replying

Cannot install ROM Manager newer version...

Somehow I can't install newer version of ROM manager from Google play store...
Check the screenshots, what's the problem...? :/
Thanks if you can help..

EDIT: PLEASE don't keep my old threads alive!
Screenshot isn't showing up for me.
Is it saying you're out of storage space?
Try clearing your market data.
Settings>Apps>Play Store>Clear Data
This will change your market settings back to stock and remove your recent market searches...
But other than that you won't lose anything and it might remedy the situation.

I uploaded the screenshots via my Galaxy Nexus and just noticed it's not showing them.. in market it said: ERROR: "Insufficient storage available", i can install other apps but not the ROM Manager!
I should clear market data and cache but I'm not sure does it help because it just can't install this one application and I have 6 GB free memory, I gonna clear market data and then I try to install it again.
But Thanks anyway for the reply!..
Edit: now I see the screenshots, sometimes it takes time to show them, I don't know why..
and still it doesn't install it.. little bit weird..
People who get this specific error don't deserve the answer.

[Q] Insufficient Storage Available

Ok, hope you guys and gals can help me. The basics are this, Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II, Rooted, stock de-odexed ROM, with 32 gig ExtSd 27 gig free, and internal SD 6 gig free.
I have searched here and tried different methods, clearing Dalvic, clearing Cache, clear data and all the above with ROM flash.
Still same message, not on all apps but some. I deleted 75% of my apps to clear up space thinking I had gone app crazy, still same message. Now I cannot update existing or install some new apps. Please help. I have no idea how to check and see how much memory is free, if that will help just tell me how and I will look. please help me fix this.
update, I went to settings, Application Manager, Running Apps and it says 819 mb used and 095 mb free and lists the programs.
That is probably the issue but how do I resolve it? Or is that the problem?
Get Clean Master:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cleanmaster.mguard&hl=en
There's easily 100s of MB of trash data that can safely be deleted. I see this error pop up too occasionally . Last time I ran it, it deleted 900+MB of crap that didn't show up on the System/Storage readout.
Also run TiBackup and add system app updates into ROM. Is wise to Nandroid backup before doing this, as this is permanent short of reinstalling.
Thank you, I downloaded the app and it actually let me. I ran it and cleared up a large amount of space. Then I tried again.
It failed again but this time it was error 491. I read in another post to delete the google account on the device, reboot and add it back and it will fix it. So I did that. On it did update one app that was failing but not both, so I still have one more that will not update and the error went back to insufficient storage.
Not sure if I should repeat the process of clean and delete the account and try again for the last one or what I should do? I hope I do not have this problem from now on.
I do have a question...
If I do a backup with ROM Toolbox and then flash the new rom, can I restore everything except the rom, it would be senseless to flash it then do a recovery that just replaces the buggy ROM I tried to replace. or is there a way to flash the rom without losing everything so a restore is not necessary, it would just add a clean ROM? I noticed with the Flashed ROM and the phone basically like factory I had no errors downloading apps, then I restored to get all my stuff back and I even got the problem back.
Help, anyone, I just got a tablet and want to share my cell data plan and I cant download the app for it on my phone due to error, this time no specific error, just cannot download, please I need this fixed, help.
Please help, I cannot download anything or update anything without getting a storage or error 941, 941 is the most common now.
I know someone can help me fix this, you guys can take a simple cell phone and turn it into a coffee maker and a time machine. I know someone can help me fix this?
Is there a way to install the stock ROM without wiping and losing all my data, or can I flash the stock rom and restore all my data except the ROM? Someone please help?

Umm try downloading astro file explorer and click on sd card usage. That allows u to check what is taking up all your memory and where its located and then delete what is not needed.
As for backing up stuff download gobackup. Its a great app. Lets u back up texts, apps and their data, current ringtone and set up, as well as other things..hopefully I helped...

[Q] how to store music on external SD (google music, amazon store)

ok peeps, I'll try to make it short and to the point.
Mods, I've tried searching the forums, I can't seem to find an answer, if one's available, my apologies for duplicating a thread, and if you could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.
so, I've got a Galaxy S4, Tmobile, 16gb, stock 4.3 rom (per latest OTA update) and it's rooted.
I used to have a mytouch 4g and I found a thread here on how to create links via ROM Toolbox to fool the google music store into downloading my purchases to the external card instead of internal memory. Mind you, I had CM loaded on the mytouch, but I thought just rooting the Galaxy would allow me to do the same.
In short, I can't. it took me a while to find the directory where the Galaxy stores the downloaded files from google music play store (WTF with the names google), but I can't create the link so that future downloads go straight to external SD (I've got a 64gb one on the phone)
I know I can manually move the files, either on the phone or connecting the phone to my laptop and moving the files that way, but that's not the point. I should be able to specify where to download my music, after all I'm paying for it for chrissakes...
the amazon store is much more flexible, it does allow me to specify a different folder, but it won't reach up to the main directory to choose external SD, only the retarded virtual storage folders...
any help will be much appreciated!! thanks everyone.

Thank you se1000. I reviewed the thread that you linked to, and while it sites offer a solution to my problem, it still involves further mods to the phone. Not opposed to that if needed, but I'm trying to find out a more direct approach, downloading yet another app is not really what I was going for. Have you come across other solutions? I keep searching, but no luck.

If you're rooted the xposed method is by far the easiest. Install the framework, install the module and specify your path.
Looks like the new Google Music update has this included!
Effin' A!. Says "experimental" on devices below kit kat. Hope they don't take it away on any future update. I'll disable auto update/save this version's apk just in case.

Use Titanium Backup to make a backup of the app and upload it to your dropbox or save it on your computer or something. Also you could dual boot your phone and install the GPE rom and use KitKat

Contacts storage taking up all internal memory

Hi
my phone has become unusable as my Contacts Storage app data keeps filling up internal memory. As soon as I try and uninstall an app to free some memory the CS app fills it up. I have checked with Diskusage app and it's now at 3.5GB+. Tried to backup contacts to perform reset but Contacts app as well as many other apps do not open due to lack of available memory as it is all filled up by Contacts Storage. I would not like to clear data from the Contacts Storage app and lose all contacts... but what to do? Is there any viable alternative?
Thanks
Marco
Hi there!
It sounds like you have a buggy app. Is Contacts storage part of the Operating system or is it a Play Store app?

Hi, I agree, this might be a problem with the app which is a Samsung app. From the net it seems some other people had the same problem on Note II, S5

If your N3N is rooted already, check this link out. You could make a manual backup of your contacts first using that method and then factory reset or flash STOCK back to it.
If you're not rooted, consider trying it out?[you should know beforehand that this will DEFINITELY trip your KNOX counter]:angel::angel:

Thanks for the advice. It's not rooted unfortunately. I will try that. Does routing erase the contact data on the phone?
I was hoping to find a way to fix the buggy app, whatever it is, but I'm afraid I have no other option.

Oh no, it does no such thing. Rooting only allows you permission to write to your system partition. See here and here for more information about rooting an android device.
Don't rush for a quick fix. Take your time to ensure your data is backed up safely before attempting any repairs or *risky* operations on your phone. Be safe, and enjoy :highfive:

Hi, I deleted 2GB of apps... and the problem disappeared. The Contacts storage space went back to 40MB.
I backed up the contacts with Super backup and then rooted the phone anyway.
Is there any way to see (using some root enabled app) which app is causing the issue of bloated contacts storage, after I reinstall the basic/main apps like FB, Google+ etc?
I have found some logging apps on play store but not sure which one might help

That's weird!
I'm glad you got it fixed either way. I don't think that that is normal behaviour for a system app, especially if you're SURE it's the one behaving like that. It seems the entire OS might be buggy.
Best bet is to backup data, make Nandroid backup, and flash back to STOCK or a custom TW custom ROM... Start afresh - so to speak
