Is there any way I can watch rented movies on my rooted note 3? All I did was root and remove bloatware, no custom rom/kernel yet. I saw there are modded play apk's that allow you do watch rented items while rooted and then there is voodoo rootkeeper, however with the N3 having 4.3 voodoo is not an option. Any help would be appriciated.
Where are you trying to rent movies from? My device is stock rooted. I rent and buy movies from Google Play with no problem.
Netflix, Flixster, Redbox all works with root too. (I know this because I complained, and now I'm using them again since they lifted the restrictions)

Haven't rented yet. I was under the assumption Google is still blocking rented movies if your devise is rooted. If they lifted that restriction then that's awesome. I'll try it out at some point today. Thanks for the response.

Google play store allow the rooted user to watch rented movies on the google video app? If no, then what are some possible workarounds to this issue, ie alternate video apps. I havent gotten a note 2 yet but in the htc thunderbolt forums there is a script that one can use to be able to watch google play movies in the google video app. Is there such a script for his device?

Being rooted shouldn't affect any of Google services. Only services that (potentionally) might be affected by rooting your phone is Samsung services (in my case, OTA updates, Samsung backup don't work). However, others like Samsung apps and Samsung Dive weren't affected. In my opinion, since there are much better alternatives to OTA updates and Samsung backup, I don't see that as a reason not to get the immense benefits from rooting your device.
I ask because on my current device, I'm unable to watch rented movies using the google play video app. I would only be able to watch it via web browser through the online play store. But thanks for your input.

Rooting will not harm any amazon app. Just reflashing with another rom will ...
Let root it. Backup, and do anything what u want to
Just picked up a Fire 8.9 and have a question.
Can you still watch videos on Amazon Instant Video if the device
is rooted ?
If not can you use a temp un-root app to watch Instant Video content ?

Amazon Instant Video is unaffected by rooting, only way it would likely stop working is if you start disabling/removing the Amazon services & other stuff it relies on.
Simply answers is: No, the rooting process doesn't break it
I can say from experience though (and it's not something I saw in any of the rooting tutorials) after you install google play you will want to find all of the amazon apps (shopper, music, kindle, etc) and DISABLE automatic updates via google play for those apps. Else you're going to end up with versions that do not work with the amazon carousel.
My Fire (G1) is in infinite yellow FIRE boot mode. Fortunately I have TWRP on there, so I should be able to toss a new ROM on. But I'm trying to determine which one.
I really use the Fire mostly for reading books (bizarre, I know!), some games and Amazon Instant Video, downloaded to the device, while travelling and offline. I have to VooDoo Root Keeper un-root for the video to work, but then it does.
Do any of the newer ROMs have the Amazon apps and let them run?
Thanks

I've recently been told no. The only way to keep Amazon Instant video working is to "Dual-Boot".

Bummer. Thank you. Stock it is.
I generally don't mind as I use region blocker to use the US netflix content which is generally better than other regions. But I love the tv shows Homeland and that is on the UK Netflix but not on the US Netflix. Right now I am left with installing a second Netflixx app from the Google Play store to play videos from all regions, but since it is designed for touch devices and not remote controls like the one with the AFTV and other streaming boxes, has requires me to use an air mouse too use it. Is there a way to put the Netflix designed for the AFTV UK onto the US AFTV by sideloading it etc. I can't find anywhere on the net where this is available as a rip from the Amazon UK AFTV store. I am rooted so I don't want to update should a new firmware come out as Amazon has patched the root for the UK version and will obviously do so for the US one too. Thanks!

Was that one sentence? I'm out of breath reading it. lol
Okay, I don't run Netflix, so i can't get into the specifics, but I'm not exactly sure the Uk app is much different then the US app, I think it just shows what it can based on your location.
To get your hands on the apk from the UK Amazon store, you need to do this trick. Use a tablet or phone that you have, install the Amazon app store on it, then download the Netlfix app to that device. Use a backup manager, or like Apk Master to make a backup of that netlfix app, and then sideload that apk into your aftv. Might need root on that tablet/phone.
Now, that being said, if it's just about location, there is some recently written up guides about changing where the AFTV thinks it is.
I''m using a US box, and using the US Netflix app (the one with the red icon) and can play US, UK, South American and Nordic content just fine. I currently have a UK Amazon account set up on the box, but I had a US on previously and also it worked fine.
Many moons ago, there was a restriction on UK content, but I think a firmware fixed that. If memory serves, I think you need to be on at least 51.1.3.0, which is the one that dropped when Germany launched. What firmware are you on? You can upgrade to 51.1.3.0_513011820 without loosing root if you use a pre-rooted version of the update. Check out this guide:
