Does anyone know of a hotspot mod for the sprint samsung galaxy note 2 to thether the internet without having to pay for it? I just need the services.jar and services.odex files. I found them for the samsung galaxy s3 but not for the note 2. Does anyone know where I can find these?
Here is the hotspot mod thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2232553.
You mentioned about odex files, but I think this only works on deodexed ROMs. Not positive tho.. it does work great on deodexed stock MC2.

I suppose you never found an answer to this?

Bump. Idd like to know this too.
Bigxie has a Rom in the cdma section that doesn't require a wipe for stock. It is adds deodex and a few other things.
That's what I ended up doing. Works great!

Can someone please share this for me? I am using the i9300 and having wifi calling will be a real improvement for me. I've tried searching, all I get so far is that the apk works only on touchwiz (which is what I have), but nobody's put up a link to this mythical thing
It only works for Tmobile, if you're using international S3 it won't work.
It's not just a apk, it's in the framework too.

I am on an Omega Jelly Bean ROM on t-mobile, with the i9300 variant. Don't I check all the right boxes? I thought the framework that it needed was part of touchwiz?
its way way more complicated then what you think it is.

The pack has to be built for touchwiz because of the libs used to make it work.
You need the wifi calling provisioning or it won't route the UMA traffic over the right T-Mobile gateway.
Files:
system/app/com.android.kineto.apk
system/lib/libganril.so
system/lib/lib_ril_switch.so <--- may be custom modded for vendor (ie: Samsung, HTC etc)
system/lib/libkineto.so
system/lib/libreference-ril.so
system/lib/librilswitch.so
There may or may not be other files but you can see it's not just an APK.

Thank you, that's a great start! When I get back home today, I'll take a stab at extracting these from a T999 update and try it out. If it works, I'll see how complicated creating an update.zip is and package it.

That is a start but im afraid that's about all it is. You'd also need wificall.apk (com.movial.wifiicall) and probably some binary files.
Also, even if you managed to get all the correct files, you would then need to port the code over to settings so you can use it. There is also probably code in systemui, framework, etc. I just doubt that simply flashing the files to your phone will work...unless the i9300 version of tw has it already and you just need it to work for tmobile. I dont think itll be a quick or easy thing to do.

Did you check under settings? On late model phones it's not an apk, but built into the phone.

It is possible to get wifi calling on your i9300. As seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHhjduFCCug] need to flash a T-Mobile S3 ROM on your phone. Much more simply than the methods discussed above.

I believe there's a thread in the themes and apps section that has flashable zips for certain note 2 and other samsung touchwiz applications.

Chances are that it won't. Most likely won't even let you flash it as the updater-script won't be for the I747.

Are you on a stock rom? The out of the box stock rom after rooting with need the odex version. If you flashed the ota zip, you did to figure out if you downloaded the odex or deodexed version. You can also download ES File Explorer, and press menu for root explorer access. Then navigate to /system/framework and see if there is a android.policy.jar file. If it is alone, flash the deoxdex version, if you also have an android.policy.odex file, flash the odex version. Easier step would be just to flash a custom rom with it...moar, people's rom, wicked, etc...to still keep that stock feel.

I have 3.3 beta 2 installed and it works...but I had to set the profile to s4 because s3 didn't work. Personally, I would just flash the Wi-Fi hotspot mod. It is more stable and less of a hassle.

Here is the mod for the sprint hotspot
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224083&highlight=hotspot
Most custom roms already have it hacked.
Here is the link for wifi tether:

Both work, but the modded hotspot is easier

The version I use for stock rooted is v3.2 beta2 and I set it to galaxy s3. Only thing is if you wanna use WiFi you gotta reboot phone after using it. For some reason it stops it. Works great for me.

Never had to reboot. But let me know if it works. Just make sure you download 3.3 beta 2. The mod is easier, just make sure you nandroid before flashing and flash the correct zip.

Been looking everywhere but can't see to find a mod for stock 4.3 odex. I heard SynergyROM has a working Wifi Tether Mod in it but can't seem to find it in the .zip file. :crying:
Haven't tried the hotspot yet but the thread says it's working. Go to development thread and download Team Venum - STS v1.2 - Odexed/Tweaked- MA7/MK4 3/25

Look through LorJay's stock rom thread and you should find the downloadable MK4 hotspot hack. It's a flashable zip file. I have it on hand and I believe that's where I found it.
