Will you switch to the One Max? - Verizon HTC One (M7)

Title says it all. Now that the one max has been announced (and should hit Verizon) will you switch?
I personally have never owned a phablet and that 3300mAh battery is very tempting.

If I had any other phone but the one, I probably would. But I think the one is the perfect phone for me.

Ditto. I need a phone that still fits in my pocket.

Nope! Doesn't seem to offer anything more than the One. Other than the fingerprint scanner which I have no want or need for.
Sent from my HTC One.

I will probably try to pick one up and either gift the One to my wife to replace her iPhone 5 or just keep it for myself. Either way. I will try to get one!

I'll stick with the One. Having borrowed a friend's GN2 to play around with, I had issues with pocket space and one-handed use.
With the One Max being larger than that, I can't envision being able to carry one around comfortably.

I'm considering it....I had the Note² prior to the ONE and although this phone is a go, I really miss the screen size of the Note².

Nope...would of liked a 5.2-5.5 inch one but 5.9 is just overkill...plus the fingerprint scanner looks dumb

The one is more than enough phone for anyone. The max seems to not offer to much more. Plus we have s off. For the one lol

Nope. I think the HTC One Max is far too big. I wear pretty slim jeans and I doubt a phablet would fit in my front pockets anyways . Plus, it still has the same Snapdragon 600 and 2GB ram as the regular HTC One. I get plenty great battery life on the HTC One so a larger battery doesn't mean much to me. I also don't like the bezel on the Maxx. I guess its different since the back can be removed, but I think it looks pretty ugly. Reminds me of the bezel on the HTC One mini.
I could totally see why someone would be interested in the large screen, but I personally think 4.7" is perfect for my needs.

The HTC One Max will hopefully be unlock-able by Sonic, to
1) bring them S-OFF
2) get him some credits used to recoup some moneys
would I EVER use a phablet like this? hell no.
5.9 is just insane. 5 would be the largest I think I could use. Anything over just doesn't appeal to me.

Nope. The One is the perfect size for my needs.

ill prolly get one, as long as i can afford it. the fingerprint scanner i have no opinons of yet,but i love the size. i was a disapointed when the one went down in screen size from the dna,so im lookin forward to it.
i hear from someone whose played with one that they are pretty sweet

The One is perfect for me. No need for more.

Personally I think a 6 inch phablet is too big to go in and out of pockets regularly, I would rather keep using my One and get something like the Nexus 7 for the kind of things phablets are used for. I went from the HTC Incredible to the One, that is 3+ years of the same phone and lets be honest the Incredible really is an incredible phone. The only reason I waited so long to get a new phone was because the android phones Verizon was offering were all too big and too fat. Who wants to have something that requires your pants to be altered for the device to fit in your pocket??

After hearing it has pretty much identical specs with the exception of a larger screen, I'd almost only consider it a sidegrade. If it had a snapdragon 800 and a bit of extra fancy stuff I'd take it, but its literally a large HTC one with no real benefit except for the fingerprint scanner and bigger battery :/
So if I were to get a phablet I'd get the note 3, but the HTC One is perfect for me .

I thought I had read that it was coming with the Snapdragon 800, but on re-reading the specs I will agree fully. If the camera or SoC were upgraded, I would upgrade. But a larger version of my One just isn't enough for me to pick it up. Like mentioned, I wouldn't say no if someone gave me one or if I just found a really great deal on one. But my next HTC device better have a snapdragon 800 under the hood!

nope, HTC One with bigger screen, bigger battery, but apparently, most will only get 16gb of storage. SD card is nice, but on my note 2, I was frequently running out of internal storage and sd card swap just seems like a bad idea to me. Even the fastest cards can't match internal storage read/write speeds.

[POLL] Would you buy it again?

HTC One X Owners and potential buyers!
Would you buy it / buy it again if you had a choise?
Or you better give a chanse to Samsung/Sony/Nexus/LG/Motorolla?
Or just stay on your old device and wait untill something new arrives?
Definitely buy it again. Right now, it is still king of the market. NO ONE BEATS ITS SCREEN. and since screen is the number one biggest thing we interact and use everytime we use the phone, it is THE MOST IMPORTANT PART LOOOL.
In a whole package and a custom rom, the one x trumps any conpetitor out there as it has the best hardware foundation. GO DEVS GO

Hard to say... I might look for a similar device with a bigger/removable battery, external SD and USB-OTG support. If a device like that didn't exist, I might still buy it.

About battery: Read this (but we have now with the new base about 6h screen time and its still not officially released...i am not sure that i will use my phone 6h of the 17h i am awake every day)
About external SD: Its a smartphone not a PC, with the 28 GB (user available) i am really satisfied.
About USB-OTG: I am sure we will get it soon

but an external SD would be nice
all honesty no i would not buy it again... i would go for the galaxy s3 just for the pure reason that the development for that phone is much bigger than the One X. but even though i would not go for another HTC phone i really do love my current one now even after all the issues my phone had
I definitely would. I always felt that Android 2.x was just not as polished feeling as iOS and I didn't enjoy it very much, but ICS finally closed the gap IMO. After that I was just waiting for some nice hardware to come out - high pixel density screen with nice colours (which pretty much barred anything AMOLED, since I've hardly ever seen one that wasn't blue tinged, which really bothers me), nice physical design, and powerful enough hardware to do everything smoothly. The One X is just about the first phone to meet all my requirements. The GNex was quite close as well though, being one of the few AMOLED devices I've seen whose screen I didn't mind, but at the time that the GNex came out I was not ready to move to a new phone yet.
In short, I love my One X. Nice upgrade from an iPhone 4. There's not too much I miss about the iPhone, and plenty of things I love about my HOX that the iPhone just did not have.

How about the apps and games that were on the iPhone 4?
I've also had an iPhone for about a week, and I have an iPod Touch, I love Android, but I'll be completely honest, the Android applications and games can't get nowhere near the level of the iPhone ones, not sure why but every iPhone app and probably game out there is beautiful, it's polished, some of the Android ones are too, but it's being held back by most of the ugly ones.

I think he's saying that you can flash everything to your hearts content but nothing the developers over at SIII will release will make you have the same screen the One X has, and this is the truth, doesn't matter if 1,000,000 developers group up to develop a ROM, the screen will stay the same .

There are only two games that I miss from iOS. Rhythmatic, and Strategery. There are a few other apps I couldn't find Android equivalents to but they were apps I hardly ever used anyway. Anyway, I still have my iPhone around, so I can use it as my mobile gaming device/iPod and use my HOX for texting/calls and Facebook/Twitter/etc. (iPhone could do it as well I guess, but I only have one SIM card, which is obviously in the HOX).

I usually don't play 3D games on my phones, never really got into the on-screen touch controls, I just hate how my favorite game Drop 7 looks DISGUSTING on the huge screen of the One X, if I could only normally play this game everything would be perfect.
I played it a few times. It was graphically quite impressive for a phone, but I didn't really get into the gameplay.

I think htc is better in many ways but s3 is good too as a starting dev i would prefer htc - it's more free to tweak but s3 has much "'cool" things as floating touch, it reacts when you close your eyes etc.

why yes... yes they were.. Amaze and so on has been complicated. That was the downfall of htc popularity. everybody went to the gs2 knowing this and tore that baby up.
And amaze had crappy battery... probably mostly about the crappy battery lol.
I like HTC's designs, but they are buggy as hell. I've had the PPC-6601, SDA, Shadow 2, HD2, and the One S, and as usability goes the S3 beats em all. The HTC One aluminum unibody would be a winner if it didn't limit expandability so severely.
The htc one x + is an at&t exclusive only. We wont have it:thumbdown:

I am sure T-Mobile will get a variant of this phone, but may be watered down like the one S was/is.
I love the build quality on the HTC devices, from the unibody to the overall build really. Just awesome looking/feeling devices.
Not fond of the horrendous battery life's or the screen always seeming it pales in comparison to Sammy.
I loved my Amaze, wife currently has one and kinda liked the one S till I realized it was no different than my Amaze and really almost a step down.
Real happy with my S3. I don't see me going back to HTC anytime soon.

Even though phones are becoming more power efficient, I personally dont think we are at a point were having a non-removable battery is justified. Screens are becoming bigger and brighter which just offsets any power optimization implemented, and we are left with the same horrible battery life. This is the main reason I believe the S3 is superior.
I had the HTC inspire and then the sensation and the Amaze 4G. All where great phones....HTC lost my money when they made the HTC one x without expandable memory and with the built in battery!! Which I hate a lot...remind me of an iPhone concept in a way...but at this point I have 0% regret that I switched to the s3....I believe it was a good move for me because it is a great phone all the way around.

The best thing in the phone is the screen is just amazing how good it looks, comparison to the gs3 and iPhone 5 you can tell the one x got a beautiful screen, I would get it no problem but I ma have a hard time selling the gs3 plus I already have spare battery and a 64 micro sd card so is hard for me, other then that I think is a great phone. And for those that think htc is down in sales because of developer friendly.. That's a lie... The reason why half of my family go to a gs3(there is like 6 of them) id because of the aggressive Samsung ads (crazy everywhere) and I got at least 6 Co workers too, if htc would have done what Samsung did in releasing on all carriers the one x brand would have been recognized, is one of my favorites phones and if I could I would use as my secondary device

One x has great battery life. Ive never used an extra battery for any phone ive owned. Ive always bought an external battery/case like the mophie when i had my 4s and i have one for the sg3. As far as storage 16GB is fine for me as i dont use my phone for anything else than calling/txting which is its purpose. Unlimited data = spotify = no need for 32,64,etc. Only reason I buy more than 16GB of storage when i purchase a phone is for reselling value . Im not hating on samsung as i love my sg3 but they need to learn from other companies like apple, htc, motorola and stop making cheap feeling fragile phones.

I've had a G1, Galaxy S, HTC Amaze 4g, and now my S3. Not to mention I work for a company that makes IPhone apps so I have an iPhone 4 paid by them which I keep in a box and I play with iPhone 4S, 5 a lot. I loved my G1. Hated my Galaxy S. Loved my Amaze 4g for a bit till December update ruined it, and liked a lot again with ICS update, though it just felt lagging stock and they look worn fast.
My Galaxy S3 is my favorite phone. I just does everything I need splendidly with no lag and I'm on a stock Rom with no root and no alterations. Personally, I just love the phone. Plus I also prefer it over any iPhone.

Average. The standby (or sleeping) power consumption is really good, and things like browsing the Web and listening to music are pretty good too, but CPU intensive tasks can really drain the battery. I fairly easily get a whole day out of it with moderate to heavy usage.

If your budget is big enough, I might advice you to look for the improved version of the phone, One X+ that is. It comes with JB, a faster processor and bigger storage (64GB). If budget is limited then get the One X. You can take a look at the Nexus 4 too and see if you like it or not, it depends on what you need.
Not trying to keep you from the One X or anything, its a great phone and its been working fine for me for the past 7 months and can definitely last more than 2 years. I'm just telling you to check the market for all the options so you are 100% confident with your decision.

1. I found that on stock ICS, the One X did lag sometimes when multiple apps were open. If you are willing to flash a custom ROM, or when the stock Jelly Bean update is installed, it should have no lag because of project butter. I am on the CyanogenMod 10 ROM and it is lightning fast, and I have never noticed any lag at all.
2. The battery depends on the usage of the phone. I have found that after a usual day of usage, I have about 25-35% battery left, and this includes using power-hungry games.
3. Yes, the games are insanely fast, due to the Tegra 3 processor. Nvidia have a really strong background in gaming (due to all of their PC GPU's), and this really shows when playing any game.
Hope this helps
Defo get one root it and get ARHD on it , smooth as with zero lag
IMO, if you can afford it, go for the One X+ instead of the One X. That bigger battery is really something to consider however, I see no big difference apart from that (better GPU and higher CPU/GPU clocks are no big deal IMO). If you can't afford it or if you find the extras on the One X+ no big deal, get the One X w/o a moment's hesitation
Why is anybody still looking at a device with the locked down misery the is HTC bootloader when a Nexus 4 is better in just about every way and costs less?

Because the Nexus 4 has a much cheaper build quality, has glass on both sides which makes it more prone to smashing (Gorilla Glass 2 isn't unbreakable) and HTC Sense is really good for consumers that will keep the phone as it is (Sense does have a lot of great features), not to mention the worst fact that there are no capacitive buttons on the Nexus 4, which means that screen real estate is taken up by the on-screen buttons. Also, in my opinion, the device looks ugly, especially on the back with that awful looking camera and the weird sparkly effect.
Still, I do think that the wireless charging is really cool, and I can see why people buy the nexus devices to get stock android immediately. I also realise that it feels cheaper because it is cheaper.
I just think that the negatives of the Nexus 4, and the positives of the One X make the One X a much better phone, and if you want an unlocked bootloader, if you go to htcdev.com, they could not have made it simpler to do.
I just got my HTC One X last week.
I got it because I was really tired of the lag of my HTC Sensation XE (1.5 GHz Dual Core with 780+ MB of RAM).
I loaded all my previous apps on the One X (so I would have a fair comparison), I can tell you there is a HUGE difference in speed. It was really much more than I hoped for. The One X is very much faster and task switching is immediate.
Opening/browsing/closing the Google Play was a real pain on the Sensation XE, but on the One X it's really smooth and satisfying.
For the battery, it's about the same of my Sensation XE. But considering the One X has a bigger screen and a quad core, I was happy with the battery life (I was expecting a shorter battery life). I have the data on all day long (3G only, HSDA network) with many apps syncing and moderate usage (including watching youtube), I can survive a full day easily (7 AM - 12 midnight).
For games, I don't play games so I can't tell.
Hope this helps.
Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm still on ICS, as Jelly Bean is not out yet for my region. My old Sensation XE was on ICS too.
Also, my HTC One X is all stock, no roots or custom ROM. So if you want more speed (although I don't see why) you can put a stock JB ROM and other users say it will get smoother.
After more days spent with my new phone, still can say that I am in love with my One X.

I think you have some good points, however I have both right next to me at the moment. I wouldn't say that either has better build quality. They're very different design philosophies. If you like the feel of the iphone 4s then the nexus will be better but if you like the lumia polycarbonate style then the one x for sure. For me I prefer the nexus simply because it makes it feel more like a grown ups phone as opposed to a toy so much.
Otherwise it's pretty night and day in terms of usability. The nexus 4 is a lot quicker and smoother and cooler. The one x does win on screen and camera though.
OP if you don't like lag this is a no brainer, the nexus is much better.

Haha, just make sure you don't get an operator branded phone or be unlucky enough to get one with an uncommon CID, yes. But you've still got a device manufacturer telling YOU what YOU can do with the device YOU own. Which sucks.
If the HOX is so much better than the Nexus 4, then you'll have to show me the fields of people waiting to swap my immaculate HOX for one. I suspect they don't exist though.
Yes, different things appeal to different people, and the industrial design of the HOX is nice, but I suspect from what I've read the N4 could not really be considered to have 'inferior build quality'. I don't even like the idea of a dual-faced glass device, but I'd still have one to get that device at that price. Either way, given that the N4 should be just over half the price, there's simply no competition.
HTC One X or Nexus 7?

Fair play, but if you read what you said again, you said:
'If the HOX is so much better than the Nexus 4, then you'll have to show me the fields of people waiting to swap my immaculate HOX for one. I suspect they don't exist though'
That just practically means that no-one is swapping a One X for a Nexus 4. Well done
And in response to 'letom', I do like the Nexus 4, and the price together with the fresh OS is why a lot of people would choose to buy one. I'm just saying that if I had no phone again and I had to buy one, I would still probably get the One X. I just like the premium feel and the screens on HTC phones are unbeatable (I also really like the camera). And yes, running Sense and with all the apps that HTC forces upon you (like 7Digital), it is more laggy than the Nexus 4. All you have to do is root it and install CM10, and they both have zero lag.
And I think we can all agree, Android > iOS anyday
Actually no, if I had no phone, I would wait for the HTC M7 (rumoured to launch Q1 2013). The Droid DNA is just the warm-up phone in the build up to the M7. Although, it is still all rumours at the moment so we probably won't see or hear about it until MWC 2013.
The problem is I bet you the new HTC still won't be as smooth as the nexus 4. I have jelly Bean on my one x right now, and yes it's smooth but it's not up there with how smooth the nexus is. Look at the reviews of the DNA they're saying it's still bogged down by sense. You should only be getting a HTC phone is you like sense, and live by it.

No, just don't haha

Convince me to go back to the note.

So I sold ny international note and Used my upgrade to try out the one x+ do you think I shouldtrade back for a note 2? I want a future proof phone I'm afraid the value of this one might drop like the first one x did. Please convince me to come back to the note. I reallywant to but I love sense.

HTC's profit margin and market share are dwindling everyday. Plus the One X + doesn't have external storage. Those alone aren't very future friendly compared to our Note 2.
Storage is not an issue for me. As 64gb is plenty. I never used up my 16gb card I put in my phones when I change phones. But Im really stuck on what I want
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium
1gb of ram. With 60% used on boot by bloatware called sense. From that, you practucally have no multitasking, unless of course you use nothing else but stock apps that optimized to somewhat work well in such low memory enviroment, the rest of 3nd party apps will be unexpectedly killed when left running on backround for a few minutes.

If your even asking this question you are obviously not happy with your phone I would not even think of getting another phone than the note sounds like you miss something about it
There's a lot more I miss than I like. The reason I guess is I've gotten bored with samsungs software I guess

I'd sooner go back to the S II than a One X. Can't imagine the X+ being any better. I actually like TouchWiz especially the nature UX version. And the inability to multi task drove me nuts, even on custom ROMs.
The way Samsung is bringing features from the Note 2 down to the S 3, OG Note, and S 2 shows Samsung devices will be more future proof than HTC phones. The "new" Motorola is doing pretty good too, better skinning and they just got JB on the Atrix HD. If you are just looking for something new that might be a good choice.

The one X+ is a pretty nice and powerful phone. If it meets your needs, be happy. The internal 64GB makes the lack of a MicroSD card a minor issue. The X+ has a VERY nice screen too. I like Sense also, I think it's a nice looking skin with some useful features, but it does take up some resources.
I don't know what the battery life is like on the X+, but I understand it pretty decent. My Note II with a custom ROM give me phenomenal battery life. Plus I have a spare stock battery if every I need it, and so far I haven't. For now I just swap them every so often.
For me the 5.5" screen, removable battery, 2GB of RAM and S pen make it my phone of choice. The multi-window is also a nice feature, though I can't say I really use it much (but it's there if every I need it). Only use can decide what features are important to you.
Yea people have called me a phone whore haha , But im stuck between these phones. right now kinda angry the note 2 will cost a total of $370+ Taxes! $35 upgrade fee 100 on top of my One X+`s 199. and a $35 restocking fee I even said I was having issues with the phone and they still want to charge a restocking fee.
I bet your not as much as a phone whore as me haha. Anyway, I am sticking with the Note 2 simply because its the best and will be for a long time. Quad-Core Exynos + LTE and 2GB did it for me. No other phone can hold a candle to the Note 2's form factor. HTC phones are becoming less popular. They are no where as popular as there were two years ago. Samsung definitely has the crown when it comes to Android phones. Your Note 2 will probably see way more development support than your One X+.
Besides, HTC kind of hanged themselves by releasing the One X+ shorty after the One X. I got the impression that they admitted the original One X sucked so they attempted to "fix" it. I know Samsung wil not be releasing a Note 2+ in a few months; the GSIV, maybe.
Good Luck!!!!
I guess I'll to go to the store after I lunch out at olive garden. . And deside I guess lol

If you like your sense, then just keep it. No one can convince your to buy something that you don't really want. If you take the advise and buy something you don't want. Then you will regret at the end. So just follow your mind. No one knows what is the best suitable for yourself
I just think I like it cause it fits in the hands perfect. But I'm gonna go with the note 2. And off topic but dang is LTE fast lol

Exchanged HTC one for s4 OMG AMAZING

Ok so I have had the s3 and the note 2 prior to switching to t-mobile, when I switched I figured id get the HTC one since I didnt or wouldnt have had that option with verizon, I must say I hated the phone. The hardware is nice dont get me wrong but the software SUCKS. The camera SUCKS. even the camera software is no were near as nice and useful as it is on the S4. I am so friggin happy with the s4 I dont know why I thought I would like the One. It may be the best device in the world for some but Id have to say to go from a samsung to an HTC Is like going backwards, and I even thought the gestures and smart scroll and all that would be to gimmicky and never get used but honestly, I love it!
Anyway, I just had to vent this. There were so many things wrong with sense in my opinion and if I can make anyones choice easier and allow them to be satisfied then hope I helped.

A friend of mine at work just got the HTC One and I must say, yes hardware wise it's a nice looking phone and the speaker quality is the best around no question. Other than that, the software was Meh, no 4.2.2. Thank God I went with the GS4, made the right decision.
A lot of people probably hate TouchWiz too until they got used to it. Count me as one of them (well actually, I didn't hate it). For me, I'm a Samsung guy and have had in succession the Note 2, S3, and now S4. A family member of mine has the Nexus 4 and while the phone was so debloated, so stock, I felt it was missing so many features. Yes, some people will love it that way, no bloat and pure Android. I'm so used to TW and all its (fancy) features, I feel any other phone is not as powerful if they don't have the same features.
Obviously, Sense is a different launcher/style than a lot of us are used too (by us, I mean the Samsung folks). That doesn't mean it's horrible. I for one would love to try out the Sense theme, if I can get my hands on an HTC One. I'm all in for new/different features - like Windows 8. A lot of people hated it from the start because it was so different, so not intuitive they say. In response, I have to say, get used to it before making the judgment. It's taken me a couple months just to get used to Windows 8. Certainly, the Metro I don't care with, and would prefer Win7. Until I can do the same thing with Sense, I can't say whether the difference with TW makes it better, worse, or it's just different than TW.
I feel you made the wrong choice. Those additional features will only be used for showing off and you only have about 8 GB of storage compared to about 28 on the one. Speakers are the best and I'm sure HTC will do a good job pushing out updates. Lastly, the one's screen is better and not as big so it is easier to use. I was going to get the s4 at first but then I asked myself what I really wanted. That's why I routed for the one

Good for you, I'm happy I had an sd slot so i can switch from my 64gb to my 32gb where I store my movies to my 16gb where I have my tv shows. Am also glad I am able to have an extra battery in case I will be able from my charger for an extended period of time. But if you dont like having those options then good for you!

Dont turn this into a One vs S4 thread, both phones are amazing. I'm a Samsung guy and i fell in love with the One, as long as you're happy with your phone then its all gravy. This thread is kinda pointless too btw.
To each their own.
Me personally, neither phone could sway me away from the N2.

Neither phone impressed me. Samsung pulled an apple trick it's the same freaking phone! HTC did the same thing, no removable battery and no expandable memory! I'm waiting for the S5 or the next Gnex. Just my 2cents. Meanwhile I'm wearing out my S2.

It's interesting, I recently purchased a TMO Galaxy S4 coming from a 2.5 year old HTC Sensation and I have *almost the exact opposite experience. The hardware (screen, form factor - obviously - it's just plain insane) and the camera software/interface is top notch! But the remainder of the experience felt like I was put back onto some odd looking, super sized font version of froyo - and not just by looks, I immediately noticed a drop in usability in some key aspects of the OS (e.g. email, sms, dialer, launcher) vs what I had gotten used to with HTC Sense.
Either way, not trying to be a troll. It's funny what we get used to and come to expect based on past experiences. The S4 will have to go back (thanks TMO return policy!) and it's gonna be me and the "old" HTC Sensation for a while longer. (I'd get the HTC One, but have to agree - no SD cards slot? wtf lol)

I've had a similar and also slightly different experience. I also came from an HTC Sensation which I've had for about 2 years, previously owned the og Galaxy S (Vibrant), and instead of the S4 I chose the HTC one, and got the GS4 for my wife instead.
Here are my observations since I actually have both phones and can compare them with NO bias...
-A lot of the online mainstream reviews you'll read between the two hit the nail on the head. The One imo is a better "phone". It does indeed have less features then the S4 (although many of them are gimmicks like the eye scrolling/tracking, airview, and a few others) but the speakers are far superior, which obviously aids for anyone who ever uses speakerphone or plays music and videos, the call quality is also a little better, the phone is more fluid and faster than the GS4 with basic functions like scrolling screens etc, and the phone of course has a MUCH more "premium" feel. Sense 5 is MUUUUUCH better than past versions of Sense and like a lot of review say, it *DOES* improve over stock android in actual useful features. The look is subjective of course but it's flat, useful and fast, and to me that's all that matters. The camera is better than any past smartphone I've ever used (Tmobile Dash>G1>Vibrant>Sensation>One) so I like it personally, but compared to its rivals like the GS4 I guess it's not the best, but does everything I've ever asked of it VERY well so no complaints from me.
The GS4 on the other hand has a superior camera. The camera on the One isn't bad at all, and kills the Gs4 in low light conditions and the aspect ratio and wide lense captures waaay more in each frame, but the GS4 has more camera features, packs a crapload more detail in each shot, has some pretty useful camera modes the One doesn't have, and is just generally better. The Galaxy might not be made of aluminum like the one, but it's lighter and imo actually feels better in my hand (without a case). Once you add a case in the mix, hand feel is null and void obviously but if you like to go commando the Gs4 feels better and will probably hold up to abuse better than the One due to the polycarbonate body and gorilla glass 3. The screen on the Galaxy is bigger than the One while the actual phone altogether is lighter and smaller so that's pretty nice, but it's not really THAT noticeable to be honest. One huge, huge advantage the Galaxy has over the One is removable storage and battery, which *USED* to be a deal breaker for me back in the day, but I've learned to live without them since I got my One, so either way it's a definite advantage but I guess how much so is up to the user. The Galaxy also has native quick settings built in which the one doesn't have (yet), so minor issue but another positive for the galaxy.
As far as negative for each, I'm actually on my second One already. Somehow my camera lense glass cracked even though I keep the phone in case and have never dropped it or bumped it. It just appeared one day in addition to the top speaker grill starting to separate from the body. Weird, but I got it replaced and the replacement is doing fine and actually stands up to overclocking and undervolting better than my old unit, so that made me pretty happy lol. That's really the only issue I've had with mine, but on the whole, the phone is definitely more fragile than the Galaxy WITHOUT a case. It scratches easier, dents, chips, etc...while the Galaxy doesn't.
The Galaxy feels better in hand (caseless) than the One, but it's slippery as hell and slides around easily and can be more prone to being dropped. Again, only an issue without a case, but this is my observation.
Touchwiz...personally I think it's a mess. I don't care for the look, as many have said it feels like your still running Gingerbread 2.3. The look hasn't changed much since I had a Vibrant running Touchwiz from 3 years ago, and while Touchwiz DOES have some unique features and generally does more than Sense and stock android...it's just ugly as hell while doing so lol. The Galaxy also does feel a tad slower and microstutters every so often while the One is almost always fluid and seems much smoother even tho it's running a newer version of android and has slightly better specs on hardware...it just doesn't "feel" like it. Other than that it's a fantastic phone and we haven't had any problems with it whatsoever unlike the One.
Between the two...if I just had to pick one, it's a toss up. I prefer my One honestly but I can see the advantages of the Galaxy S4 with it having more features so I'll just break it down like this...
Usefuleness as an actual phone
One>S4
Camera
GS4>One
In hand feel, portability
One=GS4
Usefulness as a multimedia device
GS4=One
Expandability
GS4>One
I will say that between the two if this even matters to anyone...I get WAAAAAY more props and questions and even jealous stares directed towards the One lol...
