Before: Everything was working fine, I was using the Eclipse rom ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2209909 )
Between: Tried a couple of roms. (I cannot remember what order) I know I used a Touchwiz addon theme sort of thing on top on the eclipse rom,
then tried another rom called CM10TOUCHWIZ or something similar to that,
then installed a rom called "Liquid Smooth" I think?
Then I installed a alpha version of a HTC Sense 4.0 ROM. (can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475395)
I flashed every single rom with clockwork mod and between every flash I have cleared cache and wiped all data/factory reset.
Now: I've flashed Eclipse at the end of my spree with the dark/inverted Gapps the forum provided me, and I wiped cache/factory reset.
The problems:
1. I don't even know what to call this... If I open the camera app and take pictures or videos, they are saved (or sometimes they don't save) as just a big rectangle of grey, all the picture is, is grey.
And if I take a video, a message pops up saying "Unfortunately, Gallery has stopped." and the camera (or gallery?) force closes right back to the home screen.
2. I'm this constant message in my notifications by "Google search" saying "Insufficient storage available"
I am VERY POSITIVE that I have storage, My android has no SD Card (No SD Card slot) I have 28GB of storage available. No way.
3. The performance menu in the settings is gone.
I don't know if this is a problem, but the last 300 times I flashed the eclipse rom, there would ALWAYS be a performance button at the very bottom of the settings. It's gone.
And along with that, some other things have changed. There is a lock screen button in settings that I don't remember (Probably was always there) and the option to change the navigation bar layout is nowhere to be found? Am I missing something?
4. "Franco's Kernel Updater" won't auto-flash the kernel.
I will press auto-flash and nothing happens. Not even a error, nothing.
but yet It still downloads the zip?
I was and still am having this problem. Why?
I'm using the free version of the app

Question: WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY. I hate these problems, they really get on my NERVE!
What is wrong, and what do I do to fix them?
I'm afraid I'm not going to get a fast answer (Yes, I'm impatient)
Just to solve everything I'm doing a literal reset on my phone.

Since updating to PA2.54 I have a disconcerting issue with my display. Strangely enough the issue continues when I revert back to 2.52 also.
Basically all the paranoid settings are useless (either do nothing after reboot[mode switching]) or are ghosted (app specific settings).
My display is screwed because the status bar covers the top of my screen. Wallpaper reverts from the paranoid options. I've even had forced reboots (hot, seemingly) when accessing UMS functionality.
I've hunted for solutions. I formatted my SD card (15gb of music has to be dropped on again).
Nothing has worked yet. Really regretting updating from 2.52 as it was absolutely perfect!
Images below displaying what is meant by status bar glitch, and ghosted paranoid settings.
So, it's a desire, blow me!
Appears to be PAPrefs lockdown. Usually seen in Kangs.
Attach & Upload the listed two files here:
1) /system/build.prop
2) /system/etc/paranoid/backup.conf
Could not attach drop box link here. So sent them direct.
So, it's a desire, blow me!
Fixed.
It seems a manual wipe of data and sd-ext sorted it. Not sure why a reset to factory hadn't done this previously.

[EDIT] NOT EFFING FIXED
Lost M2SD support, therefore attempted another "clean" install. Yet, unfortunateyl, m2sd not operating correctly. I seemed to have less memory thand a STOCK android OOTB. F'd up. #JustSayin ! And to ADD to all this bollox, I'm experiencing sodding [HOT] Reboots whenever I initially access UMS (I mean, WTF! Ican't even go through the standard process of dropping a fresh ROM on the SD card without the !!!!!!!!!!!BS!!!!!!!!!!! (massive caps there BTW) of PHYSICALLY extracting the bastard SD card! Sorry, forGOT to censor myself there!
[Have wiped Cache + Dalvik, then "All except SD". Still nada! I even adopted PACMAN ROM, and STILL came across the same 2 issues (PA prefs blocked & m2sd not operating!)
I've a working phone, but it doesn't fit! If you know what i mean........
Hi!
I bought a used HTC Desire. The person selling it had rooted the phone, installed a new ROM (miui, as far as I can tell, since there's at least the miui camera. He said he had wanted an ICS rom) and the phone is using the SD card for increasing its memory. Titanium Backup, LauncherPro, AC!D SoundMOD, Dolby Mobile, ES File Explorer, Firewall, Fancy Widgets, Pimp My Rom, QuickPic, SuperSU, two instances of Superuser, Task Manager and Theme Manager have been installed. LauncherPRO is used as the "desktop environment".
Some things from the "About Phone" dialogue:
Model number: HTC Desire
Android version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Kernel version: 2.6.38.8-cayniarb-ics-stock-022612-00844-ge004de8
Build number marius.a v.2.5(Temporary version)
The problem is, reboots keep causing programs to disappear or get corrupt. There are several ways in which this happens:
* Some programs launch, but don't show anything. For example Firefox ends up showing only a white screen with some basic OS-wide UI elements visible.
* Most programs simply say "Unfortunately, <programname> has stopped", where <programname> of course varies according to program.
* Some programs launch for a while, but fall to the "unfortunately, <foo> has stopped" after a second or a minute.
* Some programs completely disappear, leaving at best a picture of a green robot on the home screen. Touching the picture with my finger, I get: "Could not launch the requested activity."
* There is one program still working flawlessly: Andropas, a PT route planner for my city and Maverick, a GPS/maps program.
Also the Play store is now broken, although it survived many earlier program mass deaths.
I've fixed Firefox several times by uninstalling it using ES File Explorer and then digging it from the Downloads folder (I've installed a beta from an .apk file) and installing it again.
A reboot doesn't always break programs: My previous two reboots left FF intact. I once rebooted choosing Reboot from the menu you get by pulling the panel on the upper side of the screen downwards and then choosing TOGGLES and once choosing Shutdown from the same menu, waiting for the phone to shut down and then starting it again.
I am therefore not completely sure if the problem is reboot-related, but it has by now only appeared when I've rebooted my phone.
For adjusting yourself: This is my first Android phone, but I would call myself generally tech savvy and am able to grasp new OSes very quickly. A power user for sure, but not a developer on any platform whatsoever.
So... Any idea of what I should fix in order to get the phone functioning correctly?
If I have to go for installing another ROM, is there something about using the SD Card as memory extension that I should take into account in order not to brick my phone?
You have an old version of the Marius.a ICS Rom, and it has bugs. You should flash the newest one.
If that doesn't solve it, then repartition your sd-card. Check the guide in my sig.

for sure he didn't kept his google account so... u can eighter reinstall rom or... go in recovery and choose factory setrings

1. My "camera can't connect" error message came up. Tried the usual..uninstalled flashlight programs, checked to make sure no other program is using the camera, forced stopped, cleaned data and cache, re-installed google apps, waiped davlik, fixed permissions, upgraded etc etc. Nothing worked. Weird thing is that 'open camera' off play store works fine, but google's camera doesn't. No apparent reason for this to happen either. Any suggestions?
2. I love the feel and size of my S3. Great for running. Easy to unlock and put a ROM on , underclock...what is the longest battery life upgrade I can add to this on an AT&T contract?
What Rom are you using? There is some CM based roms where camera and video is not currently working. I use this work around hopefully it helps you.
Advanced wipe (dalvik cache - system - data - internal storage - cache )
Flash Rom - Reboot
Let it set for 10 minutes - Reboot
Flash Gaps / Kernel - Reboot
Upon reboot download "Titanium backup" you will need premium
Freeze the stock camera - Then download "Open Camera" and use open camera
For Video it has been confirmed that VivaVideo works.
Just for kicks, i tried turning my phone off, taking out the SD card, and turning it back on. holy frig! It loaded the apps (in settings, to clear caches and stuff, force stop if needed), turned off, SO much faster!! Like, warp speed. Compared to the well over a minute with my current class 4 sd card installed... im truly amazed!!
I need one of these like, tomorrow!! lol
The one thing i didnt understand, is that since moving app data to the external SD card isnt actually possible (despite the deceptive "move to SD card" in the app settings)... alot of the apps didnt show their correct icons or names in the app settings menu with my card out. But - even to just take the card out and look at it on the computer, all thats on there is camera photos, wallpapers..... a couple of things in directory bind, but only for 2 apps. well over 2 apps showed the incorrect icon and name. But... why??
ok, so ive since invested in a class 10 sd card...... and i notice no difference with having the phone calculate storage, powering off (the 2 main time wasters) since when i had my class 4 card.....
the only extreme difference is with no card in it.
For all of you who used class 10 SD cards, did it take the storage roughly 3 minutes to calculate (when you keep your caches cleaned out regularly), and the phone over a minute to power down, when you power down or at least restart once a day??
im just wondering if the extreme difference in speed is to be expected. even with the best type of sd card.
Hi

The rom is this one here actually: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1994902
Since i was new to the android world and rooting and such (still kind of am), i went with the pure stock version. I had actually decided to use the legit update, but it turned out my "brand new" phone had already been rooted, realized after a couple hours of trying to get it to update the legit way... maybe they had to to carrier unlock it, not sure. I knew for sure once i got into recovery for the first time, that it was already non factory. But, i didnt complain, the phone worked well and had no physical scratches or anything.
The kernel says (im not sure what much of this means):
"3.1.10-I927UCLJ3-CL970642
[email protected] #3
smp preempt thu oct 11 14:00:57 KST 2012"
Im guessing that last line isnt important but i didnt want to leave anything out.
Im not too sure what kernel means, unless referring to corn. Is that an important factor in the speed? Would changing it if needed ruin my whole current rom setup?
Ok so it is more or less stock and rom and kernel are UCLJ3. Thats fine just wanted to be sure. Btw: the whole kernel line is important as one can see the build, builder and build time which all is important to identify.
You can try another kernel without any impact to your ROM as long as it is ICS compatible. You may take a look into sediROM its installer has all available Kernels where you can choose from (v2.0 beta has absolutely all added). You can start sediROM installer and choose to not install the ROM but only modify the kernel. That way you can be sure that all requirements for flashing a new kernel are met (e.g. removing dalvik cache) without loosing data. But be warned i never tested that on pure stock!!
A better way may be to install sediROM and then choose the modify mode instead but I absolutely do not want to force you to choose sediROM !!
Nevertheless flashing sediROM or simply flashing a new kernel only:
As always keep in mind that doing a nandroid backup is essential!!
But back to topic: to be honest I'm not sure about your problem itself. You told that you have slow speed when opening your app drawer in the launcher? The other thing mentioned was calculating storage (I believe you meant those in settings?) and powering down.
Well i have a class 10 card with atm 1 GB free storage and need 10sec for all calculatings (settings). A power off need about 10-30sec and opening my app drawer with 114 apps installed take less than 1 sec.
I use sediROM v2.0 beta.
So you may try flashing a litekernel version. Maybe removing the dalvik cache may help a little, too - at least it will not harm (remove dalvik cache from within recovery).
My recommendation would be - if I were you:
0) backup! /efs and nandroid!
1) remove dalvik cache and /cache
2) if that doesnt help: flash a litekernel
3) if that doesnt help: flash another ROM

I do go into recovery regular and clean the regular cache, but never the dalvik cache. Ive read everywhere that people recommend doing that just before formatting and installing a new rom, so ive always thought that the dalvik cache held something important (like user data).
is that something i should be regularly cleaning out too? If so, and i havent for over a year, could that be any part of the issue??
The main 2 spots i notice it very slow is when opening the storage (within settings), and when powering down. the app drawer does open right away, but it does take a while for everything to load up and all app sizes are accurate, probably the same 3ish minutes as when starting from storage.
but other than that its been running great so its weird that only those 2 spots are slower.

Cleaning the cache on a regular base will not harm but IMO not doing anything useful.
The dalvik cache does not contain anything important like user data. It is filled when you boot your ROM with let me say "uncompressed" version of all your applications. That means because they are "uncompressed" they will open faster. Removing that cache will only let the ROM re-create that cache and this can solve some problems too. But it is an important thing you ever should do after flashing a kernel. Normally each ROM out there will do that for you, too because there it is needed too of course.
So no you do not need to do that on a regular base Android will update the cache for you (normally). Only when you encounter problems, flashing or upgrading ROM or Kernel.
Repost from Sprint forum area, since this main area is much more active...
I have some weirdness going on with my LS990, still running the original ZV4 with Xposed and TWRP. I've never had any problems, until now, with anything on this phone, it's been fantastic and that's why I leave it on Kit Kat.
Starting yesterday, whenever I try to open the stock File Manager, I get the following error dialog:
------------
Note
Cannot read files. File Manager will be closed. Please check Media Storage enable settings and try again.
OK <--button
------------
Sometimes the dialog is in the foreground and I can close it with OK, but File Manager never opens. Sometimes the dialog appears behind my launcher icons and everything is unresponsive until I kill the running process using my nav bar shortcut from G3 Tweaksbox.
Also, I was trying to take a screenshot to include with this post, but it gives an error (Cannot take screenshot. Try again.) when trying to save it, plus the notification just stays on "Saving Screenshot" and is unable to be swiped away. [UPDATE: Noticed the screenshots do get saved in the proper Pictures/Screenshots folder, but the notification remains "stuck"]
I have also noticed my gallery is now empty, yet I can still access all of my pics from third-party file managers. Plus, when I open the camera and take a picture, it doesn't show in the little Gallery bubble at the bottom of the screen - in fact, the bubble doesn't even work, but yet the picture is saved properly.
Has anyone seen behavior like this before? The only thing I have changed on the phone is flashing the new TWRP 3.0.0.0 yesterday, using the image feature in my previously installed TWRP 2.8.7.0. I've updated TWRP plenty of times and there has never been an issue, but one difference I did notice this time was it asked if I wanted to keep System read-only or the default swipe to make read-write, which is what I did since I have Xposed and it modifies the System anyways.
Hopefully someone out there has an idea how to fix this, I really don't want to start all over, at least not until Sprint releases MM for the G3. The strange thing is, everything else is working just fine. My phone is fully functional except for the quirks mentioned above, root is still there and Xposed is functioning properly. I did do a Safe Mode boot to see if I could eliminate any root apps, but the issues were still there even after a safe boot.
Try sd card write fix on the market just for kicks u mighta lost permissions to the ext sd try switching save point to internal and see if they save
Unfortunately, I'm not using a microSD card, everything is saved to the internal memory. I thought it might be something with permissions, was thinking about trying the "fix permissions" option in TWRP but I'm not sure if that would make things worse. I've already tried a cache and Dalvik wipe, but that didn't fix anything. Even in Safe Mode, nothing changes.
I've searched online and haven't seen anyone else with this issue, it's very strange. I wish Sprint would hurry up and drop the MM update so I would have the perfect excuse to flash back to stock.
