Flashed last night. Looks nice. The custom theme is fun. I did notice navigation bar height didn't work, and by default the navigation bar seems really big. I did a clean install. Wiped system, all that good stuff. So I'm not sure if I did something else wrong or if it's just a bug. And the 3 dot menu even for the big menu is a bit odd looking but that is just a preference thing and I can change that easily enough. XDA app wouldn't get past the splash screen, don't know if the rom could effect that. I restored another rom and it works fine. Not sure. Overall though nice work on the rom. Keep it up!

OK, didn't think to look there as that is normally in the navigation bar settings. The options are in navigation bar settings they just didn't appear to do anything.

I am having hybrid setting crash when trying to go to tablet mode. Anyone else?

I really like this ROM! I like all the animations and stuff..but I am having really bad reception issues with the ROM. I was previously on Purity and didn't have any issues with reception. It keeps getting poor signal, or sometimes drops calls, or no bars/grey bars. I am using FK01/FK02 radios. I just noticed this is also 4.3.1! haha
Are there any screen shots? I'm using Sourcery and I love it but they stopped developing at 4.2.2
Is there anything in 4.3 that's worth leaving a ROM I love and don't really need anything changed?
The crack flasher in me is asking.

4.3 should be smoother and is what is currently being developed (roms/kernels actively being built with new/more optimized features)
One big thing with some 4.3 kernels now are that many have commits to reclaim more ram the os had dedicated to different things (which wasn't really needed)
For example mpokang kernel has anywhere from 750+ to about 775 total ram available vs less than 700 available stock

Be careful in saying the reclaimed ram wasn't needed. To get the full benefit you lose 1080p video. Its not necessary for some but I like to have it. A lot if people really like those kernels though. So definitely worth doing a bit of research.

It depends on which kernel (and in mpokang kernels case, which version) some, like Franco kernel reclaim quite a bit of ram and everything still works perfectly (including 1080p video)

Not sure about this ROM in particular...but from what I understand this is a common issue amongst many 4.3.x ROMS.

Work in Progress
Before you go any further, 4.2 still has a quite a few bugs that need to be resolved by Google.
Please make sure you have backups for anything you don't want to lose.
Google apps are not official, this is a community hack, we have tested all apps but you could still encounter issues.
This is still a work in progress. we are working hard to tame 4.2, which brought significant changes and bugs.
Do not ask about CyanogenMod features. We will add more features in version 3.x, when we have a 100% stable base.
Installation
Update your recovery to the latest version. Pre 4.2 recoveries can mess up your sd card/storage. We recommend TWRP.
Download pa google apps: http://d-h.st/Do8 Updated 15-JUL-2013
Download rom: http://d-h.st/N7z Updated 18-JUL-2013
Follow PA on Google+ for changes and other info
Perform a factory reset in recovery, unless you are already on PA 2.99+
Flash ROM first, then gapps
Wipe dalvik & cache
Reboot and wait, first bootup can take up to 5 minutes, it will also restart once
Enter your Google account info, press home when you encounter the black screen
After the quirky bootup (thanks to aosp) is over, the rom should work normally
Do not restore system apps, system data and Google apps. This can cause bootloops and other problems due to mismatches from CM to AOSP and Android version 4.1.2 to 4.2.x
Previous jellybean versions: toroplus
Features
Hybrid engine ported, Per App DPI and Per App Layout
Tablet UI back from the dead
Per app color
Quicksettings -> Quicktoggles (first draft, more to follow)
New recents implementation
We fixed the aosp lag in the recents view, well, most of it
New SystemUI Icons that can cope with transparent bars, thanks go to John Xionidis
See through Lockscreen is back
Transparent bars + Launcher2 modified to cope with it
4.2 Walls and Sounds
Google stock apps
Extended Desktop
PER-APP-DPI/LAYOUT
This is not tablet mode! Hybrid engine allows you to target apps individually. You get to pick their actual layouts which can tranform content drastically. Keep in mind, this has nothing to do with build.prop hacks or DPI changes. We list all layouts an app brings, you choose one, its as easy as that. It does not matter if your device runs itself in Phone-, Phablet or Tablet-UI, your apps will always look as you like. On top of that you can scale apps, to fit your screen, that way you can even bring full fledged tablet apps and make them run perfectly. Nothing will break, nothing will shrink, your market will be fine. Additionally we have rewritten many parts of the android framework and fixed countless of AOSP bugs to make way for these modifications - our "tablet mode" runs better on a phone than on a real tablet, that is guaranteed.
PER-APP-COLOR
ParanoidAndroid's newest invention. Define apps in your regular hybrid panel. See your phone fade into the color definition of your current app, press home or go elsewhere and it fades back. Create as many combinations you like, you can even dabble with opacity. This feature is made possible by our hybrid engine, which is unique to this rom.

New option: "large" to trick an app thinking the device has a real big screen. some need it, like amazon kindle to jump into tabUI. some even react on it, gdrive will slightly adapt its layout - makes only sense if you give it a small dpi though.
The algorithm to extract the actual layout containers from apk files works more precise and can reveal more than before. there will still be a few apps left who do that layout stuff in java - we will add an override button for that, but in the meantime you can edit /system/etc/paranoid/properties.conf .layout=360 for phone-like UI, 600 for phablet, 720 = tablet, 1280 = super huge tablet

You know what annoys me about this ROM? All the customizability! I am spending a lot of time getting everything where I like it and I love it. Noticed on other ROMs that allow me to hide the nav buttons that most games would screw up their orientation when I did hide the nav buttons so it was largely an unusable feature. But not on Paranoid! Really nice to play Max Payne is FULL full screen And again, thanks for sticking with the CM kernel.
EDIT: Only feature I yearn for is the ability to disable lock screen rotation.
Nice, getting this now. This is a great rom.

Hybrid.
Anyone know how to scale the lock screen? A couple of my shortcuts are cut off at the bottom. Its not a huge deal, only cosmetic but I'd like to get it right if I could.
Edit...
Nevermind, I figured it out. I just needed to adjust the framework dpi.

This is for the VZW Galaxy Nexus. I believe there is a different build for the Sprint Galaxy Nexus (which is also CDMA).
As of right now, no fix should be needed for 1.3. 1.2 only had a (simple) fix because the default DPI was set incorrectly.

Hey forum,
So, here's a bit of an update, apparently Android 4.3 is a harsh environment for this phone, so I've gone back and got Root-Box rebuilt so I can have an up to date daily driver.
The only thing that bugs me right now is that if you set a lock screen custom wallpaper it seems to cause a restart of the System UI after a while.
Please, enjoy.
^_^

Here's a lock screen with a Unicorn.
DescriptionVanilla RootBox is built straight from RootBox sources and always carries a very light installation with no extra/useless apps. This means, you can enjoy a pure Android experience combined with AOKP/CM features and some CM cherry-picks. Keep in mind Jelly Bean is only at the beginning stage of development and there will be minor bugs. Every RootBox releases are stable and always up to the challenge for a daily usage. I personally have a high standard when it comes to releases and this is why this project always meets the expectations of users. If you're wondering how this ROM differs from any other AOKP roms out there, I only have one thing to say: Try it yourself and choose the one that meets your requirements.

Coming from another ROM:
1. Have a safe (preferably EL26 cwm) recovery
2. Wipe Data/Factory Reset (This does not affect your Internal/External storage)
3. Flash RootBox zip
4. Flash JB GAPPS
5. Wipe Dalvik Cache
6. Reboot
How to upgrade RootBox versions:
1. Download RootBox update
2. Flash RootBox update
3. Flash JB GAPPS
...
6. Reboot
Special Note:
Recently someone hacked the Facebook hack into the contacts provider, this does not upgrade cleanly and force-closes acore a lot.
To fix this issue, you need to remove /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts2.*, your contacts will re-build this database when the sync runs the next time (May require a reboot).

Sniper hasn't had a build in over a month, in the last little while a new feature appeared... like I said up there at the top.
Also, I added a preference of having a "Tiny" font to the settings, because I like it that way.

I added an option to have "Tiny" fonts because I like having a small font and sniper hasn't had a build in like 2,000 years, I posted this because the new Halo feature is kinda neat, thought maybe some peeps would like to see/use it :good:

What would it take to add "Screenshot" as a navigation bar button option and add the date to the status bar clock? These two items are included in SlimBean, BeanStalk and Liquid Smooth but are missing from all the roms I've tried that are built with PA preferences.
Received two random reboots so far one is while playing music and one was on Facebook lol but I have no tweaks running no other kernel or anything like it just this ROM and gapps on a clean flash

Looks like you can add screenshot to the droppy downy things...
Don't see an option for a full date.

Screenshots of Halo look like this works better than the other Halo's I've tried. flashing now to see how it runs. Thanks!
WOW! This is working like a trooper and so smooth, I like Xposed better than PA (increasing Font for old eyes) and I run various apk's from all roms, platforms etc... so this is definitely not an average install. Everything is running great and have not found any issues and this is the Best Halo I've had running!
I may have to try using that ^_^

That would be cool I don't know what the font size is however I run apps in Xposed DPI 128 Font Scale 138. Not sure if it is 138% default font or just a setting?

Just uploaded a build from today (Not a whole lot of changes from Root-Box), added a Giant font-size option
Not sure if that alleviates any DPI issues in other apps or anything, just figured I'd add it ^_^

So far so good with this, the only thing i've found so far is you can't change the nav bar button colors under Vanir customizations. The slider is there but there is no option to select the color.

Yep, that's true. It is a work in progress.
There are a few bugs.

Great ROM with lots of interesting customisations. And very stable for me, running it with Franco's r13 kernel at the moment.
The only problem I have is in Phablet mode I am unable to use right status bar drop down (where toggles are) when sliding down only left status bar expands. I did a full wipe, installed latest nightly and flashed slim aroma gapps. Tried this combination with Purity ROM and no issue there. Anything else I can try? I really want to stay on this Rom.
And also if it is not much to ask, could you kindly add Dark toggle as well please?
Then it will be an ideal 4.3 ROM for me.

Here.
Not really high. 6.100 points with trinity TX17. Stock kernel is really slow, only 14k in AnTuTu. I got 19.2k with TX17, its ok i think. Not optimized.
Found 2 minor bugs. The bootscreen at some point shows "fire texture" on the right of the main image, once you see it...
And on the default keyboard if you hold "a" button it does not pop up with "@" symbol as it should, or is this a feature? Other keys are fine tho
Just letting you know

Does this works in Phone mode for you? Also does the side nav bar appears fine in Phone mode? Or nobody is using it anyway? I would prefer nav bar on the side in landscape if it is possible, otherwise I will just use GMT gestures and hide nav bar totally.
And could you tell me what theme are you using please?

Both pull downs are integrated there is an icon to toggle. It's just using TabletUI interface. You can switch to default in settings. Not a bug.
Bootanimation is also suppose to be like that, flames are erratic like that.
Keyboard issue will be fixed, in the meantime toggle numbers and use that one. Remember this is a nightly.

Looking forward to the upgrades on the kernel id love to be able to UV!
Anyway we can add a day of the week option to the clock?
Also widgets appear smaller on the lock screen...is there any way to make them bigger? On AOKP pub they were pretty large in size.
Otherwise 9/21 is running great!

This ROM is really growing on me. Great performance!
Does anyone else use the Reddit News Free app? For some reason, after I click through about 10 threads, it FCs on me, SIG11 in the logs. I've come from a clean install, tried default kernel and other kernels, all the same results. Uninstall/reinstall, wipe data, nothing works.
If someone else is using this app, can you let me know if you're getting the FC? I have no problem on any other 4.3 ROMs with this app.
Edit - tried other reddit apps… reddit is fun and reddit sync. All FC after clicking on 10 or so threads. They seem to crash on loading web pages inside the app.

As of now, the only 4.4 items are visual changes, like the phone icon and the app drawer menu button. As more leaks, it will get added to the ROM.

Love it!
Love this ROM! It's exactly what I've been looking for, smooth, fast, reliable, simple, but with all of the features that I like, so I don't have to jump back a year in development.
The only definite issue I've encountered was that after having it on for 5 or 6 hours, I picked it up to use it and it was CLUNKING, wouldn't speed up until I rebooted. After that and since, it's been fine. It may be because I hadn't rebooted since installing apps? All I can think of, but I'm no expert.
The only other thing that is needed to make this ROM perfect for me until I upgrade my phone would be the torch app(I went to use this in the middle of a forest last night while walking home, only to find that the torch app doesn't come with the ROM,) and the option to put the clock in the center of the status bar. Two small things, but I don't think the clock code will be large, and the default torch app is the only one I know of that works with the quick settings toggle tile.
Thanks so much for making this kick ass ROM! This device is desperately in need of something stable and reliable that still provides a current-gen UI experience. Too many ROMs that all try to include the kitchen sink and never get those small issues cleared up.
Any devs know why my framework-res would be causing my phone to not boot. I decompiled without errors, changed a few color codes, recompiled without errors, signed, zipaligned, added to my working folder, then build my ROM, but it refuses to boot, and its only the framework-res causing the issue. Is the current apktool compatible with 4.3? Thanks for any help.
Also, does anyone know where the hell the circle battery pngs are in CM 10.2? I've torn apart almost every APK and can't find those damn things, lol.

Deleting these two files then rebooting:
system/bin/mpdecision and sytem/bin/thermald
May help with the slowing issue. I should have removed them before releasing, but didn't.
