[Q] SGH-i747 Caller ID Issues (CM 10.1.3, Rogers) - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi there, Ive recently noticed that my caller ID shows other people's names as a jumble of letters and symbols. I'm wondering what fixes there are as another thread has already said that 10.1.0-rc5 had fixed it.
Thanks!

The only fix I know of is to flash an older modem. There's a modem thread in these forums somewhere and in the op of the thread there's a little blurb about this issue. I was using the latest modem with tasks last 4.2 release with no issues but when I flashed his 4.3 release I had this caller ID issue, so I had to flash an older modem to fix it.

[Q] Midnight Rom data connectivity fix????

I appologize if this has been already answered. I did search around and couldnt find any threads related to this.
Does anyone know if the Midnight ROM has corrected the data connectivity issues that are present in the stock froyo build from samsung/sprint.

I am using the ROM and haven't experienced any issues what so ever.
Thanks.
I am currently running the stock froyo build from the Samsung site. Rooted and CW2 installed. Notice the problem when I am roaming using roam control. Data connectivity is intermittent. Hoping a custom rom is the way to go.
I am a little reluctant to go to the ext4 format. Will this prevent me from upgrading "official" froyo updates as they become availabe?

If you're running a custom rom then OTA updates will not come automatically.
Like when official froyo came out. After a few days the devs here had a tar file that included root and recovery. So using odin; i used that to get to the latest version provided by sprint (plus the extras I needed to run custom roms)
Then flashed my fav eb13 rom (eb13 being the version of official froyo from sprint for epic)
smooth sailing; as long as you read and familiarize before you just jump in. You'll know what to -not- do and what to do if something funky happens.
Good lock and happy romming!!
i am running midnight rom 4.1 and have no issues. if you are having issues i would suggest redoing it, not uncommon to have issues every now and then.

I haven't loaded the newest CM10 build myself, but I have never known an AOSP ROM to have build in PRL or profile update (please correct me if I'm wrong there.) There are ways of flashing these updates, but honestly what I used to when I was running AOSP on my Evo was just occasionally load the stock ROM and update, then go back to CM. It will take a few minutes, but you shouldn't have to do it often.

Cm attempted to implement it at one point but I don't think it was successful.
Just nandroid your current cm rom, flash the stock rom, update prl and profile, then restore your nandroid.

[Q] 3g not working after jb rom flash

Hey guys .... I wanted to get some help on my current situation...I'm currently flashed over to metro PCs running the goodness fh13 Rom on my E4GT phone everything works for me even mms ... Best Rom out there in my OPINION...Any ways I successfully flashed the AOKP jb Rom and cm10 the other day with no brick issues etc. In doing so I lost my 3g service ...couldn't figure out how to get to work on jelly bean ROMS. IF someone can enlighten/help me on what I did wrong ,or have a fix, or if these ROMS AREN'T COMPATIBLE WITH my kind of service I would be very thankful...Thanks for reading
If you search no data on cm10 I started a thread if you flash the alternative carrier fix that will take care of your data if you have any issues with MMS oak. has made a zip to flash that will take care of that for you in dev thread if you need help feel free to ask

[Q] Rogers S3 Caller ID Garbled

I'm having a problem with the Caller ID for people NOT in my contacts being garbled on the following phone:
I've been having the issue ever since I started using custom ROM's. If the contact is in my contacts it shows fine, but if it's not in my contacts then it shows garbled information for the NAME, the number shows fine. Changing the Baseband does NOT fix the problem. Going back to original stock ROM fixes the problem, but who wants to have that!
Rogers Samsung S3
Baseband: I747MUMLL1
CM 10.1 Nightly
K747 Kernel 3.0.62 (Feb 8/13)
Android Version 4.2
Does anyone have a solution or even any thoughts on how to fix this?

Why flash 4.3 OTA Baseband ?

I am avoiding the Knox OTA and have flashed OTA based ROM without the new baseband.
While there is a mod with a combination of 4.3 baseband and 4.2 LTE, I would like to know if there is any benefit in doing that - given the problems a number of posters have run into ? The Stock odexed ROM seems to run Ok without.
Here is how you do it. For me I just like having the newest baseband. But, it stands to reason they improve over time. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544612

I was referring to that thread and was wondering what the benefits of the new baseband might be. Should have also asked if there are no problems with it on 4.3 ROMs, will there be any issues restoring 4.2 nandroids after ODINing the modem?

Their would be no problems if you odined the modems, only if you had the new bootloader.
I think the OP is shooting for an answer to "Does the new baseband improve signal quality" or "MAke the battery last for like a decade" or anything like that.
I have no idea because I've not tried it. But I'd certainly be interested in the answer.
It improved signal on my end. On some ROMs the signal would drop also when the phone goes to sleep and this helps with that too.
One other thing is I'm seeing Lte where I wasn't before (but I don't know if that's because of the modem or they are improving around here).
I don't know about battery life yet though.

I would settle for a year on the battery - lol.
I have not read anything so far that answers this, and there is a mixed bag with respect to issues after flashing only the 4.3 GSM modem. I am more concerned with the latter.
I flashed the "ROM] [STOCK] M919UVUEMK2 | 4.3 | Deodexed | CIQ Free | KNOX Free" with no issues on MDL and ran pretty good. Only issue initially is was not able to get the Wallet Mod to work on it (since it was Deodexed thought it would work, as deodexed is specified in the MOD thread), but no luck. I seems to break NFC - maybe why OP of Omega thread gave up on it.
When this gets sorted out, you might update the OP of your thread, as everyone who does not accept the OTA will have to deal with this.
I have the Wicked ROM v7 with the 4.3 modem and the 4.2.2 LTE installed on my phone. Along with the latest Ktoonsez kernel, I've notice a decent improvement on my mobile signal. My Wi-Fi signal works as well without any issues. I recommend that you try it and see what results you get.

I had ODIN'd the 4.3 modem before I read your reply.
I am on Wicked v8 and kT kernel plus also duel boot 4.4 and believe I have seen some improvements also. I was more concerned abut some of the issues some had run into and have not had any so far.
