I just installed this on a Galaxy S3 SGH-i747 and it works great! smooth install and all... My questions is about Facebook, my calendar wont sync. As I look in my stock S4, there is a facebook account OTHER than the regular facebook account that says "sync apps with facebook" that the S3 doesn't have under accounts. The regular Facebook account just lets you sync contacts but not calendar or events. Somewhere I read that im missing S Planner from Samsung... Can someone please shed some light on Facebook Calendar sync with this ROM JellyBean 4.3 BeanStalk Build 4.3.1001 - 02 OCT ?
Thanks!
I'm not entirely familiar with the structure Google is using right now but Google doesn't all calendars and syncing contact photos, events or birthdays in from the stock app in Android. Some manufacturer or carrier branded roms have alternatives that let you do all of this.. Since Beanstalk is built from AOSP libraries and not the manufacturer, we know that we're going to have to find a third party app to handle these events from now on.
HTC had libraries built into Sense 5, and even more so in the previous versions that had Friendstream, Samsung does it I'm sure, but I dont use any of their stock bloatware.
Its got to do with app policies and your contacts list though, the Facebook app used to do it all but Google made changes, I can't remember if they introduced them in Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean. I use a wonderful little app to take care of all of that and keep my pictures synced. HaxSync

I use my phone for Business and Personal, Using HTC sync i have Phone contacts and Gmail contacts, which i can separate.
However, I'd like to run an AOSP ROM like CM6.1 or some of the new Gingerbread ROM's being released.
I have two Gmails (one for work and one for Personal) so Syncing wont be an issue, However. can i get the same contact separation i get using Sense on ASOP with some sort of app?
Hi again guys,
I have heard that the 2.3 update stops the Facebook integration with Contacts. Can anyone tell me if this is true?
One of the best features of this phone is having the little Facebook photo next to all my contacts, birthday reminders, status updates showing etc.
Will I lose this if I update to 2.3?
Thanks!
Matt
I use custom ROM 2.3 and Facebook photo profile still integrated with my contacts.

Try check yours account with HTC Facebook and Facebook and log-in again and sync all..
I really can't see why it would be any different from the custom roms i've been using. It still works for me I still get all the info from fb linked with my contacts.
Yeah iv noticed it is still there although in the previous rom i was using they failed to show up after a few failed syncing attempts but that just meant i had to reflash and works perfectly
sounds promising then. Thanks, I'll let you know how it goes
On the Verizon model of Samsung Galaxy Nexus.... 4.0.2 unlocked bootloader Rooted.... On every other Android device I have had going to settings than Account/Sync was how I added Facebook to the contacts list including phone numbers. I recently tried this Modaco ROM guide to fix it. It didn't work.... Is this a well known issue that facebook syncing doesn't work on Galaxy Nexus? When going to settings account/sync I click add account I select Facebook and it just goes back to the Accounts/Sync window same thing every time i hit Facebook
Search.......

There is no facebook sync in 4.0+
That is just to bad... Some third party apps sync the photos/emails but looks like im gonna have to add 40ish numbers manually that blows @[email protected]
Guys, are your Exchange calendars displayed and synced OK in 4.0.3?
Coming from HTC forums where we are having issues with the latest 4.0.3 mail/calendar/provider APKs....seems Samsung devs are also hitting this...
Using the latest HTC's own ICS 4.0.3 email APK it works OK...but all "AOSP-ized" Sense-less ROMs that use AOSP 4.0.3 mail APK are having the issue. When creating an exchange email account, choose to sync also calendar...when opening calendar app (AOSP), there is no Exchange calendar to choose to display or sync.
thx in advance!

Mine works perfectly, running Exchange 2007 (on SBS 2008), and Gummy Nex GSM ROM.

hmm, thanks.
seems to be HTC base related then....
Various versions of gapps ( I presume that is also where you Google Apps come from on your rooted phone ) are having some problems with Calendar Sync, on Samsung devices aswell.
There are various workarounds, extracting the calendarapps (googlecalendar.apk? and calendarprovider.apk) from a different ICS 4.0 gapps package works.
Set right permissions and reboot (works for me on SGSI).
Or try flashing the gapps again or look for a fixer.
I've been on 2 ROMS since my purchase (AOKP/Rootzboat) and neither had issues with Exchange calendar syncs.
I've only had my Galaxy Nexus, replacing an Infuse, for a week now. the phone is rooted and has CWM recovery; otherwise is Verizon stock 4.03 (for now).
I can't get Exchange to sync to the calendar consistently. The gmail calendar works fine, but the exchange works for a day or so, then stops processing any changes (both ways). If I delete it and recreate the account, it works for a day or so, then same thing.
Any ideas? Specific gapps packages from other ICS builds to try?
Thanks.
So, I got all excited knowing that the official Google Calendar app made it to the marketplace recently.
I've been using for a handful of days now.
And I find myself leaning back towards the stock Samsung calendar (to my own surprise). It seems like a well polished calendar app.
I have not heavily dug into every nook and crannie of each app, but am wondering...
Has anyone noticed any blaring differences between the apps?
Pros vs Cons of either?
Chime in.
My first thoughts:
Samsung wins an 'nicer' looking interface
Google wins at 'feeling' like the google web/desktop calendar (as expected), which some might like if they use that a lot
Samsung wins on at least being able to change a background color theme?
Samsung wins at getting me my already written info to my eyeballs quicker (ex/ the month view shows text on each day, the google does not)
I use the Samsung app and really enjoy it. I use Google sync to sync my work calendar (Outlook) with my Google account, and then just since my Google account through the Samsung app. Works well, looks good, no complaints.
ROM - OdexedBlue
Baseband - LJ7
Kernel - Stock LI3

Is there any way to use the samsung calendar on other roms.. ive tried pulling it and placing it on another rom but I honestly dont know if im trying to use the wrong files or does it need tw to function.
I've had no qualms with Samsung's stock app, particularly after the JB update.
Agreed, post JB update and stock is much better, I wish there was some theme support though. stock colors aren't my favorite, a cleaner pure Goog theme would be sweet

It doesn't need TW. I use it with Nova, and have TW frozen through TB.
ROM - strongsteve's Odexed Blue LJ7 JB 1.2 Holy Grail
Baseband - LJ7
Kernel - Agat's custom TW JB v0.3.2
