I don't feel like I utilize my tablet as much as I would like to utilize it and I think that it is because I don't know of some of the cool apps that are out there. I use the my Nexus 7 to watch Networking videos and to read networking books (currently studying for my CCNP exams). I use Mantano Reader for books because I read a lot of PDF books. Which is alright but since the resolution of the screen I have to read the books sideways, if there is anything better that would be suggested that would be awesome. Or if there is any suggested apps that you guys use that would be good too. Thanks,
I use Quick Office for reading PowerPoints and the Kindle app for pdfs (I've heard moon reader is better though).
I'm studying for my CCNA

I haven't really messed with Quick Office that much it was expensive for what I wanted to use it for. I thought about using Kindle for PDFs but don't you have to be online to access your PDFs.
Awesome about the CCNA I passed mine in August, I think I am going to take my CCNP Route exam next week. Good luck on your exam though. I thought it was pretty tough compared to some of my college exams.

Quick office is actually free now in the play store
If the PDFs are on the device then you don't need to be online. If they are on the cloud then yeah you would have to be connected.
And it's a good thing you took the CCNA in August. They've made some changes to the exams that took effect in October. IPv6 and some updates (and a little but more difficult lol). Hope you do well on the CCNP!

A few days ago I bought Moon Reader Pro for pdf-support, because it is imo by far the very best reader off all I tried with epub-type ebooks. The pdf-support in Moon Pro does however not have text-reflow (fit text to screen after zoom), which I find ridiculous. Would I have known that, the free version would have been good enough. (With Ad Away I already have no adds in Android). However for epub Moon is so good the developper deserves my money and no hard feelings here at all.
The only pdf-readers with both decent text-reflow and also good dark theme with night/reversed view I found are Ez Pdf Reader (paid) and Adobe Reader (free). I might have tried them all. All others did not have both or not as good. Ez PDF I like very much and has a lot of options. Adobe good to.
Why don't you like Cool Reader for epubs?
It has the best background (very eye-friendly) and tons of customization options.

I have never used Cool Reader I will have to check it out. I have only really used Mantano and EZpdf for reading books. But I am always up for more suggestions of things to test out. Thanks.
For PDFs actually Amazon Kindle is the best reader app!
Fast scrolling, fast page previews, flawless rendering.
Only drawback is that you always have to go to a file manager, click on the book you want to read and chose Kindle. The app doesn't store on it's start screen documents which were opened from outside the Kindle ecosystem. But otherwise, most comfortable reading experience!

I have to say that you are right on that I didn't know that you could open PDFs using the kindle app like that. The only thing that it doesn't look like it has is annotation but in all honesty I don't use that much. Thanks for a how-to on how to use the kindle app.

I'll second the surprise and the thanks - I also didn't notice Kindle as an option when selecting from a file browser. It actually works very well as a PDF reader.

If you save your PDFs (or whatever) in /sdcard/kindle then the kindle app will include them. Although admittedly that doesn't help if you've got all your books arranged in a different directory structure.
Why not use adobe reader? I like that I can't annotate and see those also in my laptop.
I have had problems with rendering with adobe. It will take a while for pages to load especially on bigger books.

Wow thanks for the suggestion I don't mind having them in the kindle folder it is nice for them to appear in the app.

Yeah I was stoked about it at first, but this app royally blows. It's seriously NO different than opening your browser on the phone and going to docs.google.com. You still can't edit formulas in spreadsheets (a must since I do my budget on there), and the editing interface is just as bad as the web page, in that you click on a line, have to edit only 1 line at a time and have to save it after editing. Why not just let us edit the cells individually? Thanks for finally getting around to mediocrity Google.

I have to admit that I haven't really explored the app very well. But at least it is a start. Maybe make a comment on the app page and email them as to how they can make it better?

My problem with it is that it's literally no different than just opening Google Docs in your browser. I'm just not sure why it was even made if they were going to do it like this, that's all.

The app is supposed to be able to perform OCR on text photographed with the phone. Anyone get this to work very well? Every time I've tried it (on different forms of source text) it just one line of the text, or a few scattered letters. Seems like it could be a handy function, if it worked.

Ah yes, that is a VERY useful thing! Glad to see that there are indeed more features. I just tried it and it's actually very good; I just scanned a page from a book, and although it has a few odd formatting problems, the text was almost perfect. Nice job Google.
Docs to go is free today!. Used to have it on my treo and was a great app. Normally goes for 15 bucks
Just snatched it up. I have all the document editors for free on Amazon.

now can anyone explain the pros and cons of all the doc editors that amazon offered.. Which is the best?
I like quick office pro the best. I've tried them all and it seems to be the only one that works right for me. I also like the displayed tabs on multi tabbed xls sheets.

Greetings All!
Although there are others this is the best comparison of these apps that I've seen:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1085173
The funny bit being that Polaris Office, the app included with our phones gratis, compares quite favorably with the competition.
Cheers, Henri
I prefer Quickoffice. I've had problems opening documents. It would pop up all garbled up. Quickoffice seems to keep the formatting the same without additional tinkering on my part.

quick office has problems with big pictures (gets pixelated)
but the thing I don't understand is why people need an editor on their phone? a viewer when you're on the move yes but why and how do you edit/create stuff on screen that small? *end my rant on office suite apps here*

I use it for last minute edits for school. I'm usually adding stuff to my papers in class and then emailing them off.
I also use it for work when I get a report I have to edit and send off.
I will add that I mostly do these edits on my Xoom. Occasionally if I'm not near it ill use my phone but I do prefer the tab.

Just so people know, you will need to install the full version first. I installed the full version from the android market first. Afterwards, install the key version from amazon. Then open it up and it'll say the version is from the android market but it's unlocked via the amazon key. Works great.

I like to read so I'll probably go to the MoDaCo rom. None of the ereader apps on the market are as good as the one preinstalled on the kindle.
I like to play games (the games that do work), browse the web and watch YouTube, and my new guilty pleasure, Stumbleupon.

I thought the same thing, but I found the one that sucked the least (FB Reader) and then it was a matter of just getting used to it.

I'll have to try it. I'm currently using Aldiko and Mantano ereader. I'll have to try out FBReader and see how good it is.
What's wrong with Adobe's reader? I mean, do these other readers offer something more? Adobe now even has comments and highliting. Would like to know if I am missing out on something.
Things I like to do:
Surf the web, read, write, watch videos and play games (the usual). The unusual: code in touchqode

Have you tried Liberty? It's a great, ad-free, free app that reads epub and pdf, but I don't think it supports that fancy editing/sketching function ezpdf has.
WIll try it out

I have always been a fan of Aviary, and it's only gotten better since Adobe bought them, but I will say that the built-in app is pretty good for a quick auto adjust.

I can't write on my photos or cut out a section of the photo tho...I was trying to prove some private information before posting it online and couldn't do that, which was very frustrating so figured I'd ask...glad I did, I'll look into that app! Thanks!

Yeah I downloaded it and it's awesome! Thank you for the suggestion!
Snapseed, Pixlr, PicsArt and Aviary are the best photo editing Apps you should be looking for !
All are free and available in the PlayStore
I use a few different editing apps depending on what I am doing. The one I use frequently that is not mentioned here is snapseed
Snapseed and Prisma is what I primarily use.
Photomate is what I use if I want to real editing on an Android device(It even supports RAW).
I also have lightroom but just like on my PC I never got into using it(I prefer using PS)

Snapseed is a bit too much IMO. Will give Aviary a run. Thanks
