[Q] Disable gallery auto-highlighting - HTC One X

the latest version of gallery app is marking random images as highlighted and it does this automatically, then creating a "highlight" folder and showing it with other folders. i know i can hide that folder in options, but is there a way to stop the gallery from auto-highlighting my images??
thanx

I quite like the high light idea, but am getting the randomly highlighted pics issue (is it an issue or feature?!) too.. Would like to know how to disable it too?

How do I make photos show up in Photos and Gallery?

HTC's Photos app doesn't show the photos on my SD card and neither does Gallery (the cooliris Nexus One app ported to Incredible). How do I get photos to show up? Arr, it's driving me nuts!
Edit: SOLVED, see below.

I fixed this using the free "Gallery Enabler" app from the Market. I definitely recommend it!

I tried that app and thought it was great too, until I couldn't find any of my music playlists.
I think it hides folders from other applications besides Photos.
If you have problems, open gallery enabler and check all folders before you un-install it.
Then the right way to fix it is to open the Photos app on the phone, clck on the menu button and select "Settings" and then "Default Albums" then select the options you want from there.
If you're wondering how this application works, it probably just deletes/adds the hidden .nomedia files from folders. Those files restrict applications from having access to the media by signaling the android media scanner to ignore them. For instance, if you put one in the root of your sd card, the system would ignore any media on your entire card.
In theory, it's a great idea.
The problem is that all of my music is organized in folders and each folder contains the album art for the album.
So blocking the folder with the album art so that it does not show up in the gallery also blocks the music file from different media applications.

Ah, you're definitely right. All my music stopped showing up. However, once I went back and enabled all the folders and applied settings in Gallery Enabler all my music showed up again and the photos were still fixed. I suppose you could use Gallery Enabler once to "force" Gallery and Photos to see all the folders.
Changing default albums in HTC's Photos app did nothing to make media show up again. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Un-installing gallery enabler brought my music back but not the playlists, I had to manually re-build all of my playlists again.

[Q] Picture order in Gallery app

I found strange that pictures in Gallery app are not displaying in desired order. I mean if in settings are checked "Sort by latest". then in preview pictures are not ordered in such way.
Do others have the same issue?
Of course, it is not a mission critical bug , but very annoying.
Are you using stock rom or custom rom?
I always noticed that it uses the latest image from within the folder to sort the gallery. In stock rom the camera album always shows first.

[Q] Music Folder Pictures Showing In Gallery

It's kind like confusing to see so many different folders of picture showing up in my gallery......i've tried using 3rd party app from playstore. But all these different music folder just keep showing up.
I know that LG default Gallery allows u to hide them, but tapping hundreds of folder to hide is crazy....
is there any way to make gallery to hide those music folder pictures by default ?

Facebook folder options

I cleaned flashed Pure Nexus on my pixel xl after having a few problems which so far have been fixed. However I have noticed now that when trying to upload a picture through the Facebook app or pages manager you cannot choose which file from your folders. I'm stuck with the default "gallery" folder which is is not sorted by most recent unless I take a new photo and then it shows at the top only and don't have any option to choose which folder to choose the media from.
Any ideas appreciated

I know, and it's super super weird and annoying. I randomly fixed it myself and not sure how I did it.
Try going to your display settings and changing the display size down two click (you can move the font size up to compensate). Now close FB, and reopen it. You should now be able to select albums instead of only having that stupid gallery view

Android Q Screenshoot issue..

Hey guys, i have this odd issue that when i take a screenshoot and want to share it it does not show to share?
but i see it in my library and even when i click in messenger add picture i see the screen shoot in the folder but when i select the folder it is not there....

Some apps that use media have some goofy bugs related to how the media permissions changed in beta 2 and 3. Try going to the app settings and removing media permissions and adding them back. It was changed from media to music/photos separately, then changed back as the new permissions was pushed to Android R (I think) instead.
I had an issue where Google Photos wasn't showing recent items from my camera roll. Turned the permission off and on again and now it works fine.
