I don't know of one but there are Roms that have toggles for it or have it removed outright.

Hey which ROM has a toggle for blinkfeed that sound interesting.
to remove it I can post the how to I did to rid of it from my ROM it was a simple edit but I'm afraid it might need a data wipe to enable it. :/

Andy its in Newts NOS roms . Well Im not sure if it is a toggle but you can remove it .
This would be a god send for sure. :fingers-crossed:
The way I am able to have it not on the homescreen on first boot, (you can add it, but once you do you can't remove it again)
go into system\customize\ACC\default.xml
and search for - blinkfeed -
you will find this line

true

simple change to

false

there's an option in settings > personalize > select home screen. you can choose to use blinkfeed or not.
you can switch back and forth between them.

So your saying that once I change it to false I can't change it back? Can I do it if I'm running a custom rom?

the xposed module "sense 5 toolbox" will remove, though it says only 4.3. I can confirm that it works on Stock Vzw M7_1.10.605.10.
So I just tried this option. But, Blinkfeed still keeps coming back like a bad penny.
First off, I set a different screen to my home screen. Then rebooted the phone just to be safe.
Then I dragged a copy of my default.xml over to my Windows laptop computer, making the changes you specified using Notepad++.
Since the HTC One wouldn't let me copy the modified default.xml into the ACC directory directly, I copied it to a folder called HOLD on my sdcard directory. Then I used Root Explorer to move a copy into the correct directory, and rebooted the phone again.
It showed up again. Though I wouldn't expect it to have been an issue, I noticed that permissions on the original file were 4--, But, the file I moved into there was 42-, so I used Root Explorer to change the file permissions and rebooted the phone once more.
Alas, but Blinkfeed is still there.
This is on a rooted HTC One, s-off, running the stock .10 kernel and Sense 5.0 UI.
I hate to have to blast the ROM just to get rid of Blinkfeed.

I have absolutely no experience with that however, I did a search on Google and this thread popped up. All I searched for was "how to edit build.prop":
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1236732
Anyone feel free to verify/correct me as I have never edited my build.prop before and I don't intend to. This is for anyone who may be looking for an answer. I won't say it is the answer as I've never done this before but hopefully this helps someone get on the proper train of thought.
if you're rooted try removing or renaming the phone.apk in /system/app. Make a copy of the ROM .zip to flag the original first in case something doesn't work ans definitely a backup in cwm. This should disable the activation nag and data phone capabilities. Not a good idea if you want to use it as a phone.

If you can't use your phone for text, data, and talking, you can disable it as it essentially disables the ROM's use of the cell's radio (wifi should still work).
Couple ways to do it:
1. remove the phone.apk from the zip and transfer new zip to sdcard and wipe system in recovery and re-flash rom.
2. Using root explorer or some kind of app that can write to /system, delete or rename the Phone.apk found in /system/app and reboot. If you get force close messages, just battery pull and boot the phone up again.
And, no there's no editing of the file itself just making the android system not able to find it. Not officially supported by devs to disable the radio but if you're having struggles to skip activation it is definitely worth a shot.

You're talking about the screen that comes up when you first turn the phone on after you first buy the phone?
There's a way to do it without changing the build.prop, I'll look for it. I actually did it when j first got my phone.
Some people have said if you tap the top left, top right, bottom right, and bottom left corners in that order it bypasses it.
It works for some, the way I did it involved dialing some **number and changing somethings to 0000000

Here I found a link to where it says how to tap the corners
http://www.androidcentral.com/bypass-activation-screen-your-android-device
And I found the way I was talking about when you call **778 and change the settings
1. Select emergency call and dial ##778.
2. Select edit and enter service password 000000.
3. Select NAM Settings.
4. Change Mobile Directory number to 0000000000 (Ten digits).
5. Change MIN1 to 0000000 (Seven digits).
6. Change Mobile Country Code to 000 (Three digits).
7. As you back out "Commit the Change".
8. The phone will auto reboot in 10 seconds.
#2 works permanently as I remember and it's pretty easy to do.

you should try the modded apk then cause not having any of those issues with that apk.
but u have to force install that apk file by coping it to system and changing permissions
that is to hard for some people

if you want to post the file link to the other apk and detailed instructions i will add it to op

I am getting ready to root my SGS3, and so I went to update the latest PRL and stuff before doing it. When in the system update section, there is no longer an option (that I could find) to turn off Sprint pushed updates. I don't want to lose root or have to re-root every time Sprint pushes out an update.
Does anyone know how to turn it off? Am I just missing something really obvious? On Gingerbread, there was a select box for "allow automatic updating", but I don't see anything like that on ICS 4.0.4. (at least, not the Sprint ROM).
A little help?
You should be fine. On my epic touch, you would get an update notification and then you would have to accept or deny it.

I changed my mind, my advice causes problems. Although this stops the update notification, it seems to keep the phone from sleeping once you get a notification. So your battery will be OK for a week or so.. and then all of a sudden your phone will not sleep. If you undo the above, then wait a few hours, you will see the update notification pop up. Then you can accept or decline it and your phone will then be back to normal (it won't burn through the battery.)
accept it and it should take you to recovery once you get to recovery it'll ask if you want to install unknown file do not go any further just reboot the phone and the notification will temporarily go away for while
Use rom toolbox to change build.Prop file to current build number. There are 6 or so entries. Reboot....

Download System tuner then select the startups menu option. Once in the startups sub menu go down to Google services framework and select it, do not un-check it just click on it and go into sub menu. Once your in un-check the update.systemupdateinstalldialog box and that should do it. only un-check that box.

Hi All,
Status:
I managed 1) root the phones 2) copy over the standard "carrier" folder via root explorer 3) recopy the apns-xml file. 4) edit via adb the build.prop file.
With all these I am able to make calls and receive texts on the phone. But for the life, I cannot figure out the data problem.
I double checked my .prop file and have for sure set them to spr.
So my questions is
1) any quick ideas I can try?
2) how can i tell if AT&T or I am the issue
3) is there a custom rom which I can flash and it just "works"
4) is there a good place online where I Can sell these phones aside from craigslist?

Thanks a lot for the reply. I followed your instructions. Since I was using stock 4.4.2, there was some minor adjustments that came up.
0) I flashed stock firmware and via phone notification update to 4.4.2
1) I rooted the phone
6) Done and Done
7) Done ( I also tried via adb shell )
8) I could not manually edit the build.prop file. Each time I did, it would cause a stall on reboot, never gets to boot screen. So I had to do this
via adb I set the settings to spr
9) I use radio checker to set the exact same settings
10) do I need this step for data?
Lol
Sorry. I re read your suggession. Didnt see it. Lemme give it a try.

Just thinking, if you can battle it go and uninstall the update via settings and apps

I'm not running stock. Other people seem to be having similar issues in the Viper Rom discussion.

on what rom you are? and you @typhoonikan ?
...and on what rom version you are, still marshmallow I assume.
A logcat will be really helpful.

I was unable to install the apks located there in the traditional way. I tried to install them through TWRP via adb push file.apk /system/app but it didn't work. I'm unaware of how to install APKs outside of the system otherwise? Regardless, downgrading, if this method is viable, didn't work. I had to completely wipe clean and start fresh.

This just happened to me.... It's just flashing the HTC 10 stock background over and over and over and phone is heating up very fast. Have tried starting in safe mode, rebooted several times, no joy..... Anyone have any ideas?

Do you encrypt your phone? I feel like the update didnt transfer encryption presets and new app is trying to unlock without decryption codes or something.

Wipe and start over. I had to. I have work calls that I can't be absent for. Thanks HTC. My phone was out of service for ~3 hours while I figures this out and the phone got completely usable again after flash+settling.

The bug doesn't allow the user to enter any screen. So doing this is not an option

Viper 3.5.0. I haven't upgraded to ANdroid 7.0 for reasons.

Not sure if HTC is to blame, or we...or you being still on marshmallow.
Next time please post in the viper thread, then I would have seen your post much earlier to debug your issue.
we found the issue.
run:
adb shell settings put system tweaks_hquicksettings Tweaks
..and it will be fixed. when you resetup your toggles, don't pick any of the two sync toggles.
I'll create a flashable zip to remove those soon.

You should have been able to fix it without wiping by booting to recovery and dirty flashing the ROM.
EDIT: No, this actually won't work. Sorry
Flashable fix: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7pdthav90nsp6bw/HTC10_3.5.0_Lockscreen_Update_FC_Fix.zip?dl=0

Have this issue on an M8...
Will your fix work on my device too?
Found your solution in the m8 thread...
Thank you sir

Thank You! Flashing this file fixed the issue and saved me a huge headache. Now to take away the HTC Lockscreen app's
"auto update" rights since it clearly can't be trusted.

read the info on our homepage.
Not sure who is to blame, htc or we.
You can install the update, with either the fix installed or the sync toggles removed.
or you dirty flash the fullrom on top, that way the sync toggles stay working.
..what I'm wondering, why so many people are still on marshmallow...

There's a few xposed modules I like.
Is nougat really that big a difference? I have it on my tablet and it's very similar to marshmallow.

guiness is also just a usual beer.
Well I like Marshmallow and Nougat. But I don't like Guinness!
If Guinness had Xposed modules then I'd drink it!
I have this problem on my m8 as well. Unfortunately I was not able to solve this problem with your post. I cannot execute the adb command since adb is telling me that my device is offline (I booted into the OS with the screen going on and off).
I also flashed the zip file, but it didn't work out either. I am not sure which version of viper I have (I assume it's the 6.0.1), so I tried different zips but no success...
Could anyone tell me what I did wrong? I really don't want to do a full reset.

another way would be to go to twrp->advanced->file manager
navigate to /data/app/ and delete the com.htc.lockscreen folder do the same in /data/data
boot up, then go back to recovery and flash the fullrom on top.
if nothing helps, you can do a twrp backup, then clean flash. Now you can restore your apps and data with titanium backup.
Been looking for a solution to this ! My gf phone had the exact same issue, dirty flashed and still no good etc.
I shall try the packages J posted. Thanks so much!
