Black status bar mod... - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Does one exist? I hate the grey status bar. I used a similar flashable mod for my s3, hoping that someone can help us get a black status bar mod going for the s4. Would LOVE to make the status bar straight black. Thank you.

Try this if the above doesnt work.

You will have to set it up manually for black.
But by the way, its grey for a reason. It helps prevent uneven fade of the pixels, sort of like burn in only the opposite cause. That ix an issue with amoled screens

Slight Darkening

Anyone notice this? At the top of screen, right under the Status Bar, there seems to be some intentional darkening.
I know it's not the screen, because it shows up in screen shots and if you drag the photo around down to the middle of your screen, the darkened horiztonal line still shows right under the status bar.
No a big deal really, but slightly annoying. Check the posted screen shots (anyone's) and then look at yours.
Why would they do that?

It most likely is a software issue. The Nexus S had screen issues that were corrected with a software update from Google. Once we get root we can use voodoo colors and set the screen color to our liking.

I think hes talking about the vertical lines everyone is discussing in the other thread. Its just the way the screens are. Some are more noticeable then others.

No it's a horizontal line and it's not a screen defect. It's definitely software related and I believe it only shows on the home screen and lock screen

Actually it shows anywhere the status bar or any type of header bar shows, like the orange bar on the top of the xda app. I think it was by design to have a shadow come from the top bar.

Now that we've established that it's supposed to be there, I'm going back to my original criticism. Why would they do that? I don't like it.

Action bar and status bar

Is there a way to make my action bar and status bar white instead of black? I don't want the screen there to get ruined like I keep hearing.

I don't see how white would prevent burn in.

Turn off your screen.
Find a ROM that can disable the navigation bar and use button savior. Also, some ROMS have built in status bar transparency.
I believe there are themes on the gnex that do this, makes more sense on the nexus 7 though being its an lcd.

Whoa, you're so smart. Thank for that's smartass.

White would likely make the burn in worse than black.
In froyo the status bar was white, with gingerbread it changed to black to prevent burn in and IMO made it look better.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
In fact you misses the whole point. Black prevents burn in as they are not being lit up in amoled screens. White on the contrary would do the exact opposite.

even with black, i find it hard to believe that software could make that to a screen, if the screen itself wasn't damaged in the first place. how else could we explain some screens being affected and others don't?

What does this even mean? Simply put depending on your usage (How often you have the screen on, which orientation, more full screen apps etc) you may or may not have burn in. I personally changed the navbar icon colour for aesthetics more than anything but if you're that worried about burn in then just change the colour to black, it's not like we actually look at the icons after you're used to the layout.
Well I just learned something thank you lol.

Clear circles burnt onto screen...

Hello I have 4 perfect circles going vertically on the right half of my screen, they are about a half inch diamenter. They have an outline of about a 1/10th of an inch outline.
Anyone else have this issue? I tried to take a screenshot but this is a screen issue so it doesn't come out on the pictures. Ill try to get a picture.
Any input on what they could be??
They are more easily viewed on whote backgrounds or any light color background
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
First ive heard of that. Probably need to try to send it back for exchange.

Did you have an image on screen for an extended period of time? This sounds like a burn in. It happens on these screens when something is on the screen without moving or any changes. It just burns in. If you go thru some of the settings on the phone there is an option that helps against this.

If I use my alarm clock the stock Android one and dim the screen so the large clock shows will that lead to a burn in? It's something I would always do with my old lcd but now I'm scared with this phone
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Are you using a screen protector? If so, try the burn in test without that on and see if those circles are still there. It might just be the screen protector.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
The four circles may be correlated to the four fingertips of your left hand. Could it be that the screen protector is damaged with some kind of oil deposits? Have any KFC lately
I have the same thing. You only see it when you look at the phone from the side... so I don't mind at all

Yes leaving the screen on all night with the clock can cause burn in.

Wait.... so any image in the background can cause burn-in on these screens? That's some BS....I always have a background with images on for a good period of time....
Its always something.

Weird camera color issue

So I was about to take a picture of some dried fruit that I purchased at work to a buddy and I noticed that the white desk that I'm on look like it had a red tint to it. Then I moved the blue packaging out of the way and the color went back to white how it should be. I asked my coworker to let me her iPhone 5 & I open her camera and when I try to reproduce this effect on her phone hers got the colors right. I took pictures screenshots during the shots in the same position one with the blue packaging and one without so you can see the difference of color that happens. This is extremely disappointing for me for a camera so good supposedly. Take a look at the attached picture to see what I'm talking about I know it sounds a bit confusing.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
And just to clarify moving the package of the fruit to the right to the point where it's almost not on the screen what caused the coloring to go back to normal as I would move the packaging back towards the left the color would get worse

Screen Issues

I noticed on my new note on dark backgrounds some screen issues. I noticed a purpleish smear when i scroll on some dark background pages. Especially when i was scrolling thru a page here on xda on gray images a purple color smear would appear. Did anybody else come across this issue? Im exchanging it for another one tomorrow.

It won't matter if you exchange it or not. The new screen technology makes the pixels actually turn off so blacks are true blacks. When they turn back on it causes that purple smear, or at least that's the theory prior are saying in other threads about this issue.

I'm noticing this on Tapatalk right now - the purple smear with the brightness all the way down. I don't know about the color, but the squish blurred effect is surely intentional. I'll try messing with some of the color settings to see if it's affected.
