Hey,
I just replaced my front screen. I ended up getting the lcd + digitizer + frame assembly replacement part and had to basically move the flex cables from one frame to the other. While doing this I accidentally damaged the volume flex cable. Finding a replacement volume flex for this phone seems to be impossible for me. Does anyone know where I could possibly find a replacement?
The model is a Canada E973.
Thanks,
Jaycuse
I found this
stellatech.com/lg-e975-optimus-g-volume-flex-cable,a,en,814988.html
Sorry can't link because I don't have enough posts.
Do you think it would be the same peice as the lg e975 .. I imagine if it's a similar case and the same mainboard it should be the same thing. Could anyone confirm?

Hi there!
While replacing the speakre of my BA the lcd cable broke. But I already changed the lcd some time ago and now i have one broken lcd with a good cable and one good lcd with a broken cable.
Does anyone know how i change the cable?
Sorry friend, I had made the the same mistake; there's no way to replace it.
You have to buy a new BA lcd screen.
Well....
Some of those ribbon cables are attached to the glass via what amounts to glue. Electrical contact is done just by touch (no soldering).
At this point, I'd take apart one of the LCD's to see. It's not like you are going to make things worse if you break the glass on the dodgy LCD, it's already dead, correct?
Just try to post the results so the rest of us know as well!
yeah please post your results...
better if you have pics for it.
... im interested in "frankensteining" our BA's
Got my brothers old mytouch 4g with a shattered screen. upon replacing the lcd and digitizer I somehow broke the connector for the lcd ribbon cable. not sure how I did that it just seemed to crumble. does anyone happen to have a used one sitting around that they can sell?

I have six of them, but they all have the bad emmc chip and have failed... So i dont think you would be too interested in those. so i highly doubt you will find what you are looking for as well, if it is in good shape, then why would they want to sell it, and there are few, if any other than me that have tried anything like hardware hacking these things...
is it possible to swap the emmc chip from one board to another?

not that i am aware of, check ebay for a board though...
the board i have now has a good emmc chip in it and works great except for the lcd connection point. the top plastic broke off to the ribbon cable is loose and it causes the screen to flicker real bad. ive looked online and a new board is around $120 new. im trying to get a broken phone off of ebay but so far they have all had bad chips.
Epoxy might be the dirty fix you need...
Me too!

I have the same problem. The LCD connector is all messed up after attempting to replace the screen. Did you find a solution?
Me too! Let us know if you figure out either how to fix it or where to get some good motherboards.
So I dropped my Evo and now i want to fix it and want to order the parts but i read something about a wide flex cable and narrow flex cable does that pertain to the LCD only or the glass itself?
i have the wide flex cable (2WCA)
So to make my question clearer To buy the screen (Glass) not the LCD does it matter which flex cable i have??
TIA

Hi mate!
I have one brand new that I bought but never installed.
For your information I can advise you that you cannot change that single piece due to construction of the Galaxy S2.
I can explain you why telling my story. My Galaxy S2 went to bath and home button stopped working, so I realized I needed to replace the capacitive and home button flex module as it got damaged. I bought one original piece from a German seller on ebay and tried to replace it with the damaged one. I can assure you I'm very expert repairing phones and I know well our beloved Galaxy S2, but due to the very thin construction of the phone, the glass is glued hard to the LCD and the home button ribbon cable is between these two pieces, as you have to detach the glass from the LCD to reach it.
Why you cannot change it? You cannot detach the glass from the LCD without breaking the screen as it is truly very thin, imagine about 1mm thickness or less. As the glass is glued very hard to the screen, you cannot distribute the forces when detaching it and you'll end breaking the screen with 90% probability. I broke mine when trying and I did the whole process very carefully, knowing it was very fragile.
So, if your home button or your capacitive keys stopped working I would not recommend you trying to change it as you'll have 90% chance of having the LCD broken too.
Sadly, you'll have to change the whole front module (glass, LCD, front bezel frame and of course home button cable, all included). It's a very expensive repair, but the front module is very easy to replace and you can do it on your own.
I bought one genuine like new without scratches from a salvage Galaxy S2 from Samsung repair centre for about 80,00USD. I can give you the link if you want to buy one too.
Sad to tell you this.
Hope it can help you.
Cheers.
Hi,
I just attempted to repalce the screen of my E975. I bought a complete replacement assembly with housing, to make things easier for myself.
However, on the original phone there is a little metal plate where the volume flex cable connects to the motherboard. On the repalcement part, there is no such thing(see pics). I took the volume flex cable and moved it to the new screen assembly and put a piece of doublesided mobile tape on the replacement part, to make it hold and elevate the connector to the same hight as with the metal plate. But now my volume buttons arent working anymore?
Has anybody had some similar problems or could someone help me out how to get my volume buttons to work with this new screen???
I looked everywhere, and all the complete screen assemblies you can buy for the e975, look just like the one i got. So there are none that have that metal plate?
I have the same problem! I thought I broke the flex, so I bought a replacement, but it doesn't work either. ¿Did you resolve it in anyway?
Hi ! I broke the lcd on november haha, I ordered a new assembly lcd. Please ask me your problem, I dont understand that hehe. I think I could help you ! Haha

The little metal plate is supposed to sit on the flex volume cable. Turned out i had separated it from the volume flex cable when disassembling the phone.... I bought a cheap replacement volume cable and that did the trick
