Hey guys im new to this device i got it today, i have to say im in love with this phone, i love everything about it, but there is something weird and i dont know if its normal. I drain the battery of the device like at 5pm today, plug it to the charger with the phone off, at 6pm i decided to power the device up and it was like in 12% i think, anyway it's 10:30pm here in Puerto Rico and the phone is at 96% still charging. Someone told me that this is normal on this device and even more if the battery was dead. That it takes a lot of time to get the phone charged up to 100% Is this really true?

Hi. On all 4 phones i had for testing, charging from 1% to 100% takes about 3-4,5 h.
Today i change the charging cable with another one that i have and i did notice that my phone charged a lot faster than with the cable it came with. So i guess my problem was the cable. Another question guys if you can tell me, does using the eco mode and the power saver mode really helps with the battery life of the device or not?

Eco mode shut off 2 cores and ya its power saving feature too... While power saving mode automatically switches off the gps, bluetooth, wifi, adjust brightness lyk those things..... If yu relay on these things all t tym means it bettr to enable tat mode... Else not needed...!!

So... I'm calibrating my battery. Charged it to 100%, left it run down to 0%, and am now charging it back up without any break. The problem is... as soon as I plugged in the charger when the phone powered down, the charging battery icon came up..and it wont go away. It's been like this for 2 hours.
I'm hoping the device is actually charging and isn't just frozen or something; I don't want to turn the device on as that might hinder the whole calibration thing.
Question is: Does anyone know how long it takes to charge from dead to 100% ? I need to know when to take the phone and see if it's actually been charging this whole time
Actually that happened to me last night let it charge for a lil bit unplug the phone take the battery out and then put the battery back in and turn the phone back on with the power button and it should turn back on
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Yeah I'd battery pull but can't mess up the calibration process. I know it's charging because the device is somewhat warm in the back and the display can't stay on for this long unless it's getting juice...
I'll battery pull if necessary in a couple of hours, or tomorrow morning. But seriously, this thing better be charging ಠ_ಠ

So it's morning, the device charged, but I did have to do a battery pull before booting it up. All is well :}
Yeah, I had this issue too
Wondered WTF was going on as I couldnt turn it back on whilst it was charging and the battery logo stayed on even when I unplugged it
Was resolved by pulling the battery and powering back on
OP hows your battery doing now?

When I did a full charge from the point that I ran the battery down until the phone turned itself off, it took approx 140min for it to charge completely to 100%. That being said, I'd give it 2.5hrs max and if it still isn't showing it as being done charging, then there may be a problem.

It's caused by the bad cwm. We need a fixed cwm.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Battery was at 27% at 2:47pm. Been turned on since 10AM and playing music for about two hours with screen turned on for 2h 15m. Was in airplane mode for about 2hours as well. No es bueno imo, compared to what I saw before. Might be the new rom/kernels I flashed; even though they were supposed to significantly increase battery life.
..ah well who knows lol

Has this issue been solved? I just rooted my phone, installed CWM, and different ROM. Whenever phone is powered off and I try to charge it, I cannot turn it back on without battery pull. This wasn't an issue with stock phone.
I have a odd problem. I have the Leedroid custom rom with its kernel installed, and it seems as when i plug in the charger that the battery DRAINS extra fast instead of CHARGE. I have no idea whats going on. The red LED light is on as usual but when i turn my phone off for a while and let it charge and then turn it on i only had like 5% battery left when i started charging at 20%. What do i do? Is this some kind of bug?
I dont believe that i cannot charge my phone, but im afraid that if i leave the charger in my phone will become completely drained of battery and that i then wont have any option left.
Please help me, my phone only have 5% battery left, and if there is something i can do before the battery drains completely, tell me as fast as you can!
Thanks!
/Joel
Never mind, i got it to work. It seems as if the battery didnt get enough electricity. Probably because i got the charger hooked up to a powerstrip whom also have a halogene spotlight connected to. That was on. The phone died and when i tried to charge it the red light flashed. So i turned off my spotligt and tried bashing the powerbutton.
The LED started to statically glow red and the phone turned on. I almost panicked because i rooted the phone yesterday and have only had the phone for like 1 and a half week.

In this case it wouldnt have mattered since i charged the phone while it was turned off, but as i just wrote, i found out what the problem was. Haha
So, a moderator can close the thread if he/she would like to. I will change the topic to *SOLVED*
tldr: My Incredible drains battery when turned off :-/
I have an HTC Droid Incredible that I use for testing my developed apps, and for playing around with people's roms, and I have found an odd issue with it. I can charge up the battery and use it for hours and hours and it consumes what I would consider a normal amount of charge, but when I turn it off, it still consumes battery charge. I'll charge it to 100% and disconnect the charger, hold the power button and select Power Off, and when I turn it on the next day the battery is very depleted. Yesterday I did this, and this morning about 16 hours later, I turned it on to see a 23% charge. If I leave it for more than a couple days, it won't even turn on at all and I have to charge it again before I can do anything with it.
I've tested this over the past few weeks with two separate batteries (one used, one brand new), and the same thing happens with each battery. It's definitely the phone and not the battery, because I have taken the batteries out completely, waited a few days, and they stay near 100% charge.
Some history on this phone:
I got this phone from a friend in a semi-working state. I couldn't root, s-off, or really do anything with it, so I did a factory reset, messed with it for a while, and finally decided to follow the steps in this thread to "unlock, downgrade, and achieve s-off with htcDev". This has allowed me to mess with roms, etc, so I have installed a couple, and now have "inc-eng 4.1.1 RC2" installed from this thread, and this kernel: "[email protected] #64 Mon Sep 3 18:55:57 EDT 2012"
The issue at hand however was happening before I even had it in my hands, as my friend described the same thing happening to him (he did not mess with rooting, roms, etc).

Thanks, but I did test that, with both of the batteries I have. I've left them for multiple days out of the phone, and when put back in they show 95-100%.
Maybe it's not turning off all the way.
Here's another test: turn it off, remove the battery for about a minute, then put the battery back in. Turn it on the next day and look at the battery level.
Might be a ROM issue. What ROMs have you tried this with? Have you tried stock sense and CM7?
Will do, I'll post tomorrow with my results.
If you have fastboot enabled then the phone is never really off. Try charging it then pull the battery, and put it back in the phone but leave it off. Turn it on latter and see if there was any battery loss. Fastboot is like hibernation. Its possible that some app is misbehaving and trying to sync or something while its hibernating, draining the battery.
Alrighty so yesterday I charged both batteries to 100%.
Battery A stayed out of the phone on my desk.
Battery B I removed from the phone, waited 10 seconds, and put back in the phone (I did not turn it on).
This morning, the phone (with Battery B in it) would not turn on until I charged it for a few minutes, and displayed 0% charge when it finally let me turn it on with the charger connected.
This is so weird...
Also, the rom I'm using doesn't have a fastboot option that I can find.

Okay so Battery A I put into the phone at 4pm yesterday, turned it on and found it had a 73% charge. I then turned the phone off, waited a few minutes, put the battery in and left it on my desk. This morning 12 hours later, I turned it on and it has a 25% charge.
I'm so confused... if I don't turn the phone on, how are the batteries discharging? Both batteries keep their charge when left out of the phone for a prolonged period, but discharge when in a phone that hasn't been turned on. Bah! >_<

Mabey there is a short in your phone somewhere. Does the battery last like normal when the phone is on, or does it also die quickly?

I'll have to test this when i get home, but I beleieve the battery discharges at a normal rate when the phone is on.
(this is not my normal phone, just one I use for testing apps, etc. so I don't use it on a regular basis)
I'll charge one of the batteries to 100% and leave it on overnight, and post my results.

Okay I left my phone on for 18 hours in airplane mode, and it drained battery SLOWER than with the battery inserted into the phone and the phone never turned on.
So weird... I don't understand.

Mine drains when all the way off 2 but not that bad... I think it may be the MotherBoard keeping power to the Nand memory so it dosen't relock and keeping power to the CPU so it can be quicker on bootup

I'm assuming there's no way to stop it from doing this?
It's not a huge deal, as this is a test phone I use for development, but I may be eventually selling my test phones, so I try to keep them in good working order, or get them to a decent refurbished point Plus this is a weird enough phenomenon that I figured it deserved discussion.

hi.. should i turn off my phone when i charge it?
because when i turn off my phone and charge it, it stuck at 97%, it won't go fully 100%.
but when i turn on my phone and charge it, it can fully charge 100%..
does it mean my battery start to get bad?
and with this litium battery is it true that if we use it until it completely depleted the battery will go bad?
i know that every energy storage (like battery) has lifespan, what i wanna say is, if we use the phone till the phone drop dead (battery completely depleted will shorten it lifespan?
thanks

Happened at my stolen device also just like you said, but not experiencing with my present device redmi 1s (bought used device from someone).
My stolen device use stock miui 5 rom, i remembered install repair battery life app from playstore.
And somehow it worked, dunno if it caused by the app or not, you can try tho...

Yes, like i said, "just like you said" about the device,
And im currently at cm 12.1 r4 and since the first cm 12, its the opposite
You'll not have issue with stuck at 97% charging while power off, but you'll stuck at 3% while using phone (no charging), never reach 0%.

No its not going bad. Its normal for the charging to slow down alot at 97% since overcharging is bad too. Just unplug and use it once its >95%
And yes its very bad for lithium batteries to go completely flat, and their lifespan will be longer if you charge it more often - that is a shallower discharge depth is better.
Very odd ever since the phone died since it was really cold out ( i left it in car for a few seconds and looked at my phone and it was dead ) its been shuting off or dieing around 10% left but drains normally. but can still turn it back on once its plugged into a wall charger. so im not sure on what to do cause i mean i only had it for a year now.
it happens with mine too, 2-3 weeks ago.
I had 40%+ and after few sec, was dead too.
I turn it on with 1% battery lol
was thinking of letting it die once then letting it cable charge not fast charge saw a video for an older phone to do that with some call code to reset the battery gauge

I have the same problem since a few weeks.
The percentage drops from 15% to zero.
Mine was a bit different, I was in 13% and then when I plugged in the cable to charge my phone, it showed I was actually in 6%. My friends, our phone is aging
Since it became cold outside I'm having the same problem
Yes
I had this problem with my Galaxy A5 2016 and now with my Galaxy S9...
Never go under 10% if you can't charge within 1 minute or better less. That's why I have a battery case.
So I think I fixed mine a video is for a note 4 ut I think it worked for mine also. Make sure your phone is almost dead and turn off fast charging then go to the phone dial up (built in app) and dial *#0228# and click the quick start (this will restart your battery gauge) let it die then charge to full might take longer but it's worth it.
