Once my Note 3 is in sleep mode it will take 5 to 8 seconds to power up the screen. Turning the screen off and on is still very quick the delay from sleep seems way too long. Is there a way to shorten the delay or do I have a problem with the device?

I was hoping this had been fixed from my exynos Note 2 to my Snap800 Note 3. While I've noticed it's usually better, sometimes it's just as bad as it was on my note 2. I still have the note 2 and have tried them both at the same time. The 3 generally wins, but occasionally ties and every once in a while is behind the note 2. People used to blame it on the exynos.. but I guess that wasn't the culprit.
Turns out it was my micro ad card causing the problem. Put in a spare and the screen fires up immediately. Doing a full format on the pc in hopes I can still use it. I'd hate to trash a 32gb class 10 SanDisk.

I just discovered the Quick Glance function where you wave your hand over an off screen and the screen turns on to show you some notifications.
I love it.
Only problem is that it's super slow on my phone. Average screen on time is about 5 seconds so it's much easier and faster to just hit a button to turn on the phone.
Is this function slow on everyone's phone? I am using apex launcher and swift key if it matters.

I've noticed it can be reasonably responsive after a reboot. But right now at my desk, its taking about 2 seconds to come on.
Mine takes several seconds too. I turned it off for that reason plus it uses the proximity sensor at all times. Go into a dark room and look at the phone, you'll notice a dull red glow from the prox sensor. I didn't like what that must be doing to my battery especially since the sensors don't show up in the battery stats so that you can see exactly how much it's using.
Yep, it's really slow for me too. Half the time I wonder if I swiped the sensor properly or not. Turned it off.

I see the same battery life with it on or off. 5-6 hours screen on time depending on what I'm doing and what's running in the back ground. And yes mine takes 2 seconds to come on too which doesn't bother me at all.

Maybe you not waving your hand right. I know that sound stupid but after a while playing with it when I first got the phone it took a while for me to learn how to actually get it to work, you wave your hand a distance away from the screen. If you do it to close it won't come on.

I stopped using it because it took too long to load. Easier for me to press a button

It is. But I like the lil cool factor it has when people see me use it as opposed to the home button. When I use home button I get Samsung is trying to get as similar to Apple as possible. But I do like the home button lol

My quick glance also gets slower after a while, but once I restart the phone, it becomes quite fast again (within 1 second).

I have my wifi configured to turn off when my screen goes off. When I wake the phone I always get a pop up message telling me that my wifi has reconnected. Is there any way to stop that pop up from appearing?

Was wondering this myself. It seems a bit random though. Sometimes it does it and sometimes not and as yet I haven't noticed a pattern.
No doubt one of the gurus here will know

Just had a thought. Is your wifi set to switch off when your phone sleeps? Mine is set to always on so I would only get that message if I actually turn the wifi off then on again (just tested it).
It doesn't seem to make any huge difference in battery life to leave it always on in my experience.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I know it doesn't make a huge difference but it does save a bit of battery. I'm using Juice Defender to switch it off. The pop up message isn't a huge problem. I was just wondering if there was a simple hack to remove it.

No worries. I can appreciate how sometimes the small annoyances can make a difference if solved.
My Gnex was so much better when I found how to wake it with the volume buttons... Which reminds me that I must solve that one for this Note

Yes, just as the lock screen comes up, but then it seems fine. Strange.
BS...
u mean with the screen facing the ground? or the volume buttons near the ground, im confused, maybe a pic/vid would help
The launcher FC'd but after acknowledging the event everything is fine.
A video showing the issue being reproduced may be useful so we can identify it.
The second time I tried this I noticed when the glowing x was about to be replaced with the lock screen the x dropped to the bottom center of the display, as if the height on the display was two times the actual size.

Hold the tablet in a way that the micro USB port is on the left side.

I got the glitch, but it didn't really seem to affect anything on mine. It straightened itself out almost immediately and the normal lock screen came up.
I noticed this glitch today, but like the others said it doesn't really matter much since it corrects itself right away.
I wouldn't call it a "glitch", more like an annoyance, that happens to the Nexus 7(2012) as well. The bootanimation/logo is supposed to be portrait, but as the tablet start up it tries to move to landscape mode, but since it's a portrait image it moves that way, making it look like something's wrong but it's not. You can change the lockscreen to not rotate and stay in portrait or don't hold it landscape while it boots up, in that way you won't see it again.
Edit: Also happens to the brightness level, it's just the tablet starting up.

Yeah, I have had the same issue. Sometimes after a long period of time, my tablet just shuts off, or goes into such deep sleep there is no awakening it. I have to hold the power button for 3-4 seconds to get it to boot back up. It's totally random, and I've asked the question as well, but have received no answer. Maybe it's just us. I don't know. I'll update you if I ever receive an answer.
Yeah as of late the newer night lies have had noticeably laggier wake up. The problem isn't as bad if you are using a smart cover to wake up.
In regards to the feature (if thats what you want to call it) that as you pull the S Pen out of cradle the tablet vibrates and the screen comes on.
With the S-Pen in it's cradle the screen the tablet will virate and the screen will come on. Just carrying it (without hands or fingers anywhere near Pen) and alot of times it will do this on its own when the tablet is say, just sitting on the table by itself. Is there any way to turn this off? Or a way to make the screen ONLY come on when the power and/or home button is touched. I searched all over and can find no one mentioning this. It's driving me insane.
Any ideas.
Thanks
