[DEV/WIP] HTC Sense UI on Samsung Galaxy Nexus - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello,
Me and jhonnyx are currently porting Sense 4.0 to the Galaxy Nexus.
However, as you might know, it has already been done before, but that thread is discontinued.
So we started from scratch. ROM information:
Code:
- Based on: Endeavoru RUU : 1.29.401.11
- Android 4.0.3 with HTC Sense UI 4.0
Source (SVN): https://code.google.com/p/htc-sense4-maguro/
All Downloads are listed here.
However, if you want to get the latest changes, you should use the SVN.
Changes are as following:
Code:
[B]NOTE: Everything done before pre-2.3 is the essential material to make the ROM ''boot".[/B]
--------------------------------------------- pre_2-3
- Fixed sensors
- re-fixed vold.fstab (sd-card working now)
- Fixed ROOT permissions, & updated Superuser binary + app (3.2-RC3)
- Changed updater-script a bit.
- Increased VM heap size ; maybe apps load now..
---------------------------------------------pre_3(.1)
- fixed camera HAL
- Renamed device to Samsung Galaxy Nexus in the ROM.
- Renamed to maguro in build.prop
- JNI checking is on
- Increased the vm heapsize a bit more ;)
- Fix bluetooth crash
- Added correct GPU material to load the apps
ROM STATUS: Booting
However, the ROM immediately reboots when it reaches homescreen.
Latest Logcat [Version : pre_3.1] : Here.

Porting JB and/or Sense 5 is a nearly impossible task, even for HTC devices.
Sent from Google Nexus 4 @ CM10.2

Well I wanted to say that I got through the setup (took like ten minutes lmao) and got to the home screen and ran a couple apps.
I'm on toroplus
Needs otg cable and USB keyboard
How I did it:
let it boot, plug in otg cable with keyboard plugged in. The ui will begin to load, let it do is thing. It will get to the setup screen. What will happen is while using most apps the screen will freeze and you can't do anything. Press the power button, then press it again. On this wallpaper screen press enter a few times, Unplug the otg cable and plug it back in, the ui will show again. Try to tap next and keep repeating that.
I couldn't get the HTC sense home screen to load, don't know about trebuchet, I used nova.
I feel like there was an easier way lmao

HD2 ported it on stock aosp kernel, so what is impossible? We just need the good RAMDISK.

Well like many have said.. Good luck! You're porting one of my favorite phones over to the Nexus.

If everyone contributes a little bit we can get this faster.
What do you guys need me to do? I looove sense.

Is this project still alive? Would love to see Sense fully working on a Samsung device

Tell me about it. Imagine if this actually became stable enough and people could make other Roms from it!

Nice ROM idea!

That's really creative!

Just a little bit low on free time atm, but will resume when i can.
I need to use the phone as daily driver, so i can not go flashing on it, sadly.

[PORT][ROM] NexusBlur v2.2 | Droid X 2.3.3 Port | updated 12/3/2011

***Droid X 2.3.3 port by Swamp Goblin***
***ABOUT THE ROM***
This rom is a port of my original rom EvoBlur! It is based on Droid X 2.3.3. This is motoblur. From previously working with this on the Evo, Team Xron and I found that cameras and wifi may never work. Other than that, this rom is fun to play with, its just to change things up a bit.
IMPORTANT- if you dont like motoblur, dont flash this, and please dont express your hatred for motoblur in this thread.

Well the speculation of wifi and cameras never working kind of hinders the functionality of the phone.
I'm not talking down the time and work you put into this. I, as well as the community appreciates it obviously, but maybe I should've said its not 100% functional and possibly never will be. That along with 4G.
Nevertheless, a very good concept and something cool to have other than the regular looking AOSP Nexus users are accustomed to. I myself will flash it as soon as the texting issue gets fixed.

Disclaimer: By using this rom you acknowledge and agree to the following: you know what you are doing and I do not offer this ROM with any type of warranty. I am not responsible for any bricks, or damage to your phone.
Hi, welcome to CapRom Turbo. The Turbo in the name is a street fighter 2 reference, as my Amaze ROM was CE, "Turbo" is the just next logical step in the nomenclature.
This is really a side hobby for me as I know this is derivative work. Please consider donating to the real devs! This ROM is just for fun until the real roms we're all waiting for are released.
Video: http://youtu.be/TeDXh9KaOZI << This is video of my Amaze ROM and not the SGS3 ROM but the installer looks the same.
Features - Customizable. You control your options.
Install options:
Launchers: Apex / Touchwiz / Trebuchet
AOSP replacements for Samsung apps (calculator, calendar, mail, MMS)
V6 Supercharger
ES File Explorer
Titanium Backup
Re-Bloat/reinstall some apps
Toggle2G to help with battery savings.
Battery % optional
Community:
Tell me what you guys want to see or add, and I will try my best, if appropriate, to accommodate your requests. Also, tell me what works, what doesn't, what is good, what isn't.
Notes:
I don't make any warranty as to how this will work for non Tmobile phones, so please don't inquire about it.
I highly recommend RomanBB's Adama 3 kernel. I'd include it but i am having problems with the kernel installation.
A kernel is not included, but you can install one immediately after the AROMA installer has completed its run.

-Toggle2g requires root access and the phone process may occasionally stop. Just grant it access / hit wait.

So far so good. I'd like to see more things swapped out for their AOSP counterparts. That's all I'd really want if you don't mind adding in the next release. I haven't come across any problems as of yet but I did just flash it so only time will tell. Thanks though Glad to see some touchwiz crap gone.
Nice Work!
I love the New ROM - the installer is very nice and I love all the options you offer - couple of odd things occurred - I opted to use the Touchwiz launcher - when i tried to change wall paper for home and lock screen - the only wallpapers you could choose for the Lock Screen were from the canned group of wall papers that come with the rom - on other roms and stock you can choose lock screen wallpaper from Gallery - it does let you choose home screen wall paper from other sources besides the stock wall paper - (I wonder did my choice of not wanting LIve Wall Papers effect this in some way?)
I also miss the Visual Voice Mail Ap - I was able to pull it from the redruM Rom with Root Explorer and push it into the Ap folder so no big deal

Alert: HTC one v is susceptible to remote wipe

I tried the test on my phone running miui 2.9.21 and it was vulnerable. All of us should check our phones.
just an fyi the patch is already in CM9 and CM10 source's guys, it's just the stock roms that are affected
Then this vulnerability should not be there on my miui rom but it is present.
yea, i've just re-checked i'll be adding the patch in tonight into CM9 + CM10 and hopefully getting a release out by sunday...in the mean time GUYS BE CAREFUL I WILL BE DOING THIS ASAP!!!

Hahahaha so let me get this straight... the security hole will be fixed in the CM builds before HTC even gets around to doing it in stock - assuming they ever get around to it!
Nice work guys.
i've been checking the code, it's already implemented sort of in CM10...i have a test i'am able to run to see if the IMEI can be shown from a script being run, and it CANT BE, it will however open up the dialer with *#06# JUST be safe for now guys and if your dialer opens up with numbers like above in dont do anything except for close the dialer... . so CM10 is safe without me having to add anything
---------- Post added at 11:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:44 PM ----------
MIUI has a different dialer from CM* so this will need to be implemented in MIUI source....
Hi
CM9 RC3 primou is NOT safe at the moment!
max
Well ####! I really hope this qualifies as an exception to the no updates for CM9 until CM10 is bug free policy...
I just tested my HTC One V (primoc) running CM9 and I'm vulnerable. I had to work to trigger it though because I have Opera Mobile installed as default browser and it doesn't automatically open anything when the page attempts to trigger the dialer app. So that helps block it. I also installed Mr Number (spam call blocker which includes dialer application) and that blocks the page from successfully attacking once the new dialer is set as default.
So there are workarounds, but it'd be much better to have a patch released to block this at the source!

It is tested on PrimoU it "might" work also on PrimoC but
I cannot test this - so any feedback is welcome

Change your browser away from the stock install and set something like Opera Mobile as default handler for Web links. Then get a dialer application (like Mr Number) and set it to be the phone/contact/people app.
This is all discussed in the article and you can test various apps via a link in the article to see which ones are safe.

Galaxy Nexus ROM / kernel combination comparison - Version 0.58

Hey community,
I always have the problem that I don't know which ROM and kernel to flash. To find the answer to that question I always have to spend a lot of time in flashing and testing ROMs and before to read threads to get some expirience from users. I thought about how we may be able to simplify this and so...
...i've created a Google Docs Form which asks you some questions and puts that in a table.
Form: http://goo.gl/S0lU7
Answer table: http://goo.gl/wAF66
You can:
Fill out the form
Edit your answers afterwards (note the link that you'd been given after sending the form)
View the answer table and get some experiences out of one place
This is the first version of the form. I would like to work with you together to make the questions maybe better.
And I would like to make an analysis out of the data that comes in. ^^
Cheers,
Charmacas
Version History
Version 0.58 - Added question about Extended Battery
Version 0.57 - Added question about Brightness settings
Version 0.56 - Added another 3 questions (Nickname, Deep Sleep, User type)
Version 0.53 - Added 3 questions regarding apps and background tasks
Version 0.5 - Initial document
I was about to make a similar thread.
Anyways, going to vote in yours now!
Oh I am sorry. Had searched for something equal but did not find something. But you can help me here if you want to.
This is, by my opinion, the best fit for revision of combo "kernel + rom" ... go go go and share your experience..
Some things I noticed:
Background tasks are not yet included.
Background running apps are not included
Number of installed apps is not included
If so... it should give a better overview I think!?
-- EDIT --
Added 3 questions regarding my thoughts!
THANK YOU!

Re: Galaxy Nexus ROM / kernel combination comparison - Version 0.57
I'd like to point out that people seem to be calculating their average hourly % battery drain incorrectly. For example one person posted average uptime of 1440 minutes (24 hours) and an average hourly battery drain of 1%. This is obviously incorrect, as an average of 1% drain per hour would imply 100 hours uptime.
If you do not have an app that accurately reports average hourly % battery drain, the correct way to calculate this would be: (starting battery level) minus (ending battery level) divided by total uptime. For example, if my phone was charged to 97%, I used it until it had 4% left, and that usage lasted 19 hours:
(97 - 4)/19 = 4.89, or about 5% per hour.

No you can't edit your data without the link but I can. What should I edit?
I thought about deleting the form and use the sheet only. But then everybody could edit, delete and as a result manipulate data. But it would have the advantage of an easier administration.
What do you think?

I mean, I have saved my second link to edit so it's ok now. But I want you to delete the 3rd post.
It's my nick name in the end of it but it wasnt made properly. I did another one which could be somewhere in
the bottom. It's more relevant post.
And about that, if you can trust users to not mess with the statistics that would be great but I dont know if
there is some jerk who could be such an idiot to mess with that
You can at least try that? Bud you know saving little URL for edditing its sometimes fuzzy and I bet most of the
reviewers have already forgot about that

I would keep the form. It allows greater uniformity among responses, for example where you use drop down menus. Plus you can have some required questions, as you currently have. I'm sure at present the administration isn't too demanding, but I hope this project will grow (I'm taking every appropriate opportunity to post links on xda to this post). If the administration does become cumbersome I can very happily offer what assistance I could provide. I'm currently working towards becoming a statistician (quite a ways to go still but I'm getting there).
Just my 2 cents. Form or sheet this is a great tool.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
---------- Post added at 09:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:42 PM ----------
An idea: one kind of question a user of this tool might ask is "what's the best kernel for my favorite ROM?". Of course you can filter data in the sheet by ROM name or kernel name, but presently there is no uniformity in naming conventions so this won't work well. E.g. "Ak v704" vs "Pirates 704" or "Paranoid Android 3" vs "AOSPA 3.0".
How do you feel about turning the ROM and kernel questions into drop down menus, containing the 6-8 most popular ones plus an "other - please specify" entry, followed by an open entry version # question? For example:
"What ROM are you using?" (drop down menu selection)
"What version of the ROM? (open text box entry)
And the same structure for the kernel question.

Re: Galaxy Nexus ROM / kernel combination comparison - Version 0.57
Great idea for tracking this stuff, but wasn't someone else already keeping a spreadsheet of this or was that solely just for ROMs? If so, it might be good to merge this data together to have one master document displaying this info. I've always wanted to track this myself because I'm a flashaholic, but never have time to do it.

Added question about Extended battery.

[/COLOR]An idea: one kind of question a user of this tool might ask is "what's the best kernel for my favorite ROM?".
I hope I'm making sense.

Yes, it makes sense and I was about to do that but the maintain of the ROMs would just be muuuuuch. So if you would like to help I would give you the permission and you can edit the form. Just write me a PM and we'll go ahead.

Don't know about such a document. If you find it please show it to me. The only one I know about is about colours.
Hmm... I don't know if I should go on with this thread. Could someone tell me his or her opinion?
Please could anyone give his or her opinion?

[ROM][WIP] Carbon ROM 4.3 Unofficial 9.15.13 4.2 BL

As good a place as any to post this.
Pio-masaki.com is being shut down due to a Cease and Desist order sent against the host by Google and homeland security. I have no idea why, however until this is sorted out, and to avoid any possible or further legal issues, the site is down for a period of time that can be a day or forever. This includes any and all ROMs, kernels, gapps packages, for any and all devices, that were hosted on pio-masaki.com.
I apologize in advance for this as I know some ROMs are only available at pio-masaki.com, but it is out of my hands, the host has to consider their own safety, and has my 100% agreement and backing in taking down the site until the matter is resolved.
As this is a very large matter, and one that has us incredibly scared, I'm retreating from android for the time being, until I know what it was that I did that was illegal, and may return once this is cleared up and blows over.
After this is cleared up the hosting for pio-masaki.com may still remain offline as the hoster has some personal issues with me at this point and may or may not continue to host for me, should we resolve our differences it may return.
If by some chance Google or whoever sent the C&D notices this, I urge you to contact me as I was responsible for what was hosted, and would genuinely like to know what the issues are so we can get them resolved immediately.
I will be making similar postings or editings to any other ROM threads that link to pio-masaki.com.
As a favor I built Carbon ROM for a friend, and as it mostly works, he suggested I put it up for all of you guys to use, which I'm doing now :good:
Please refer to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2137013 for a better understanding of the ROM and what it can do and features, otherwise here is some options it has:
-PIE!
-HALO
-Dark Carbon! Huge props to Slim Roms for coming up with this unique and awesome feature.
-Lockscreen theming
-CM skinny battery is back!
-Volume key lock on silent mode option
-Backup tool - if you're flashing a new version of Carbon and already have the required version of gapps installed, it will be backed up and restored during install. This applies to system apps and custom host files as well. Please note that you should only dirty flash from Carbon to Carbon. It's ok if it's another version or a nightly - just not over other roms. Super handy for you crack flashers. Make sure you've got the most recent Gapps though, and if you're flashing from a factory reset, you'll still need to install it after install of course.
-Long pressing the "clear recents" button clears the cache
-AOKP's awesome new navbar settings
-NFC polling mode for when you want to keep your screen off and scan tags
-MMS and call "breathe" feature. Makes the notification icon fade in and out.
-Mute dings when changing volume
-Disable/enable CRT effect on screen on/off.
-3rd party keyboard bug fixed
-deodexed again
-stability and speed enhancements

Notes, info, warnings
First and foremost, I do NOT own this device, I don't even own an Asus device, and not counting the N7, never have. I am building this blind and rely only on feedback from testers and users. As such, please remember this as you decide to yell about broken stuff.
This isn't a primary development device for me, I'm always willing to offer support on anything I release, but please don't expect daily builds. Weekly, perhaps, but it's mostly as I have the spare time to.
4.2 Bootloader only, I can not be held responsible if you flash this on any other bootloader and whatever happens, happening.
Information concerning updating and installing the correct bootloader and recovery can be found at the following:[GUIDE]Upgrade TF300t to Jellybean 4.1 or 4.2, root, recovery & remove bloatware by krabappel2548 - please remember this is for the 4.2 Bootloader ONLY, please follow instructions for updating to 4.2 bootloader and recovery!
[GUIDE] How to install Universal Naked Drivers by tobdaryl - for setting up your PC to get going so you can root/flash/recovery/ROM your device.
[VIDEO Overviews and How To's] ASUS Transformer Pad 300 (TF300T) by AllAboutAndroids - for those who need or prefer video style instructions, swing by here and watch what they have to offer.
I'd be happy to add any additional information as it's needed, as I don't own the device I'm not real familiar with it and whats available information and utility wise. These looked like very informative threads to help users who may need a little guidance to getting ready to use Carbon on their device.
BUGS
BT does not work Rebooting will have BT working.
Some keys on the keyboard do not work
Whatever else?

Where can I get this?
You can visit pio-masaki.com, it's under the TF300T header, builds are always dated, and if multiple builds of the same date are made, they will include sequential build numbers, such as B2, B3, etc.
For those who don't want to go find it, here you go:
http://www.pio-masaki.com/index.php?dir=TF300T/Carbon/
Hosting for the site is made possible by diesburg for the best user experience and speed.
FAQ
Q. BT doesn't work!?
A. Reboot, BT should fire up as normal after the first reboot.
Q. HALO isn't appearing after I enabled it in settings, what gives?
A. Go into any UI besides Tablet UI (phablet, whatever you want to call its default UI mode) then reboot, enable HALO in settings, then pull down the statusbar and tap the circle icon, HALO will then appear. You can then go back to Tablet UI if you wish.
Q. I want to throw money at you / throw my daughter at you / bear your children! How can I do this?
A. Money can be freely donated (freely donated meaning in no way required or expected, however loved and appreciated as it's my only income and diapers are expensive) by clicking the donate to me link under my name to the left. Also please consider donating to diesburg for the hosting he has paid for. For throwing daughters around, maybe seek therapy, she may not like it. For children bearing, my wife wouldn't care for it, so get that out of your head. I also accept devices (old/broken/new/wet/bricked/whatever).

As he posted above, when I tested, BT won't turn on. Some shortcut keys on the dock don't work. Both battery meters and the dock battery seem to be working. FYI, if you switch the UI mode to tablet mode or something, it requires a reboot for it to take. I think there may be a couple small issues with Halo. Enable halo and download any file from any site using the browser and you should see what I saw.(Hard to explain, but the download progress in the status bar never goes away, jacks your whole status bar)
And keep in mind what pio_masaki said, he doesn't have this device. So if you need help with something in the rom, how to or something, he may not be able to help, I will help as much as I can since i actually have the device. Please don't bomb him with ETA's . His main priorites for development of ROM's are for devices he owns and AFAIK, that will not change, he will release new builds when he does and until then, wait patiently.

Just want to throw a reminder out... this is for 4.2 bootloader.... if you're on 4.1 you will have to upgrade.... if you have any doubt about what you are doing with the upgrade process and flashing the new recovery, please, for the sake of your own tablet, read, read, read, until you are sure about what you are doing. If you need help with upgrading the bootloader and flashing new recovery, let me know and we will post links to threads that have directions.

Ok, just want to report that after one reboot, bluetooth turns on now. On initial install and first boot it wouldn't. I have nothing to test it with ATM though to see if it actually pairs with something.

I am going to try this right away. Great to see a brand new ROM for our devices!
Man! I just flashed Jellybam v9.2 and nooww it gets released I tried building this before, but it didn't work! -_- what did you have to do to get this to build correctly. I added the device tree and vendor tree, updated the vendorsetup.sh and added a carbon.mk to the device tree, but it didn't build correctly.

Likely the carbon.mk wasn't correct then. I build it for a few devices so I'm used to the way carbon builds so it didn't take much ton get it going here, drgravy's trees were 99% set already.
I'll put the trees I used up, I don't usually put them up until it works. Sometime tonight for whoever wants to tinker with the remaining issues.

I run carbon on all my devices lol. Sadly I have to build it myself since none are supported by the team.

Its on their github, carbondev. I'm sure its broken because the asusdec and something else didn't get along with the framework yet, unlike cm there's no real dock support in Carbon. Now that WiFi and I suppose BT are working it looks like only the dock stuff is left.
Gr88 to see pio posting stuff for our tab
His builds are quality
Will d/l and report back.
