Game controller 2 touch - Shield Themes and Apps

New Android mapping app that works great with the Shield. I love the Shield but many games have no gamepad support. I found the Game Controller 2 Touch app and took a chance. It is amazing! I can play After Burner Climax and Sine Mora with the gamepad and more importantly with the analog sticks. The best part is that mapping controls is simple. Take a screenshot and move the buttons to where they are on the screenshot. Also developer support is awesome. First version I downloaded was not working correctly and after I sent him an email he responded within a few minutes. He tracked down the problem and updated the app today. So far it is working with every game I have tried.

Datel Wii wireless retro controller: Info & Tests

Hi All,
I ordered a Datel Wii wireless retro controller from http://www.codejunkies.com/ and finally got it! Its decently made and if I can get the bugs worked out I would suggest it to others came to about 46 dollars with S&H.
Currently I have tested it out using both Wiimote Controller (by C.C.P.) and Wii Controller IME (by Ryan Frawkley). Both apps seem to sync with this model controller no problem and seem to hold the connection.
Below is a small comparison between the two (for all testing 1 was only installed at a given time)
Wiimote Controller (by C.C.P.)
- Syncs and holds the connection
- Need to have compatibility mode disabled in spare parts to work correctly in full screen mode
- Appears to be able to map both of the analog sticks and all other buttons on the controller
- Views the controller as a classic controller
- Update from Dev - pikipirs
WiimoteController supports what is known as PWM mode. This is not analog stick emulation as Nintendo64 expects, but is as close to it as possible. It works by quickly pressing and depressing emulated keys, something you would be doing for example if you played a racing game on a computer with directional keys and you wanted to turn the steering wheel just a little.
You can activate this mode by going to WiimoteController's Preferences->Advanced settings. You have control over each axis of all sticks (nunchuk's and both from the classic controller). If you want to for example activate PWM for the left classic controller stick, set "CC L-stick X-mode" and "CC L-stick Y-mode" to Analog.
A word of advice: analog sticks have dead spots at the neutral position and when in this position, WiimoteController will not emulate any keys, but it might if your classic controller's analog stick is too sensitive. If you touch the PWM-mode-enabled stick outside your emulators, you'll get a shower of letters, so try to avoid that. Also, when you are plugging your classic controller into the wiimote, don't touch any analog sticks on it because WiimoteController expects all sticks to be in the neutral position when it detects them.Side note from Jvward - I am a moron who after emailing both dev's I posted the response from pikipirs somehow got confused and posted in the section below, I have since updated it, Also special thanks to pikipirs for reading my post and keeping me on point
Wii Controller IME (by Ryan Frawkley)
- This controller is actually suggested as the only non Nintendo made controller by the dev.
- Some buttons don’t work (mainly both analog sticks are un-mappable)
- Because of the problems with both analogs I am unsure how this application views this controller (being as a wiimote or a wiimote with a classic controller)
- I have emailed the dev about the analog support and no response as of this point, I am going to email him again today.

In any of the "oid" app's by yongzh
you need to make the following changes after properly sycning the Datel Wii wireless retro controller (or a wiimote) with either of the two applications listed above. (thanks Salpula for this info):
Input settings > Key Mappings - remap the keys as necessary
Then
Other settings > Use input Method > check off the box
FPse Controller Info:
Coming Soon!
Testing
I tested: SNESoid, Nesoid, GameBoid, N64oid, and Gmail using both applications and the controller.
With all of the applications both sync apps worked fine and generally speaking gave the same results, accept for N64.
If anyone remembers who ever made the original N64 controller was probably smoking something good when they designed it and due to this you need to take full advantage of all of the buttons on the Datel Wii wireless retro controller. Only one application was able to do this as of this point, being Wiimote Controller (by C.C.P.). Regardless of how it ran I was only able to play golden eye via Wiimote Controller (by C.C.P.) and not
Wii Controller IME (by Ryan Frawkley)
Conclusions
Datel Wii wireless retro controller is honestly a better controller to sync to any android device in my humble opinion as of this point then a standard wii mote. Most android users will be syncing controllers to their devices to play emulated games and while the wii mote accomplishes this its not great at it, and honestly kind of sucks for systems with alot of buttons on the controller (PS1 and N64). The only way to get around the button limitation as of this point that I know of is using Wiimote Controller (by C.C.P.) and Datel Wii wireless retro controller.
P.S. I would love a PS3 sync app but as of this point it does not exist
Did you set wiiremote ime as the keyboard input?
Hi,
Yep I did.
Alternately, if your Xoom is Rooted, try Rwiimote.
Its not but I guess I could. What's the advantage of rwiimote?

Not sure what the advantages are, I've only come across it recently, but I'd have thought worth a go to see whether it works.
I have mine working with all the emulators. Make sure you enable a
"Alternate control" or whatever.
Edit : the setting is actually "use input method"
Edit 2: i use wiimote controller by ccp

Some other users are reporting great success with this controller. Any updates? If not, wanna sell it to me
Bumped with new info
Just got my Datel and I'm at work so I've only tested it with SNESoid and N64oid but it's working well. I was using Rwiimote for the wiimote but the Datel doesn't seem to like this. Quickly downloaded Wiimote Controller and configured and was impressing my co-workers with Super Mario Kart. Lovely.
I wish the controller werent so expensive...and RARE, not even amazon has them, the hell. I'll probably stick with my wiimote/classic controller pro combo, at least for a month or so. Isnt onlive supposed to be releasing a controller for the ipad and android?
Ouch, $40? I paid$23 on ebay.

hi all,
I just bought a datel wireless retro controller and played for a while with FPse and GameBoid. I found that it is really hard to execute top-left, top-right, bottom left and bottom-right these 4 directions by using the control pad. Does anyone have the same experience?
I don't have much experience on game issues, so i don't know if that is normal or not. Thanks for help.

Onlive app now plays games

So I got the onlive viewer from xda a couple of days ago and today I got an email from onlive saying I got lego batman for free. I go to check out the website and what do you know, they released the real onlive app that lets you play games on your phone or tablet. Currently only tablets and some HTC phones work, probably because HTC supported Onlive with the app. The good thing is that the Evo can play games, and if the Evo can play these games than so can the Epic. As well they both have different bluetooth stacks that wont allow for the onlive controller to work but with CM7 that can be fixed, on the upside we have an actual keyboard and maybe they will add support for it. Just wanted to get the word out, maybe we can get an unofficial app apk here from some of the few who can actually get the app. It worked with the viewer so why not try it out with the real app. Anyways Onlive is a pretty good service and the SGSII is already supported so maybe it will just be some time till the epic is supported. For those of you who want lego batman, you can also just download the viewer and you will have it added to your games tab, but you still can't play games with it, I already tried
I was playing Batman Arkham Asylum and it was pretty cool..except I couldn't aim at all without a mouse (keyboard worked fine and tapping on the screen just spun the camera around like crazy).
Can you pair a bluetooth mouse with a (stock) Samsung Epic?
---------- Post added at 02:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:46 PM ----------
and just got the free Lego Batman and it works awesome with the touch controls if anyone wants to know.
You beat me to it! I was just about to update my thread on the OnLive Viewer app to say that it does games now. Unfortunately, as mentioned, it requires a keyboard and mouse or a controller to play games effectively. The OnLive website shows the controllers should become available tomorrow. $50 is kinda hefty but I get great 4G signal at work so I plan on playing some Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Red Faction on my breaks.
From what I know you can't connect really anything to an epic, something about bluetooth stack compatibility. It even states it on the website that most samsung and htc phones use different bluetooth stacks, I tried everything when I was attempting to play some emulators on my epic. I know for a fact that cm7 changes that but for stock I doubt you could even use the onlive gamepad. But when I say I tried everything I meant controller wise, didn't try a keyboard and a mouse, you could try but I don't think it would be that great. I just want some keyboard support for our epics, built in keyboard, then we could use the game grippers and everything would be great so anyone have that apk, or even a titanuim backup of that would be great.

I played dirt3 just now over wifi, worked great really...the on screen controls were simple enough in that game and steering was responsive enough to stay on the track.

There's some interesting stuff going on in the xperia thread:

I was checking out Saints Row 3 and I still couldn't move the camera anyone wanna mess with the game keyboard and tasker apps they are using in the xperia thread to see if you can use the epic keyboard as a mouse?
You can use sixaxis controller on the market to connect your ps3 control to your phone and in the prefrences use it as an ime. I tried it on dirt 3 works alright but seems to lag but I haven't tried it clocked higher than 1Ghz so ill see if it works later. Still have to use the on screen keys to navigate thru the game.

I am really hoping for Borderlands support soon. That would really make my day.
I enabled Facebook integration on onlive (i already had an account before they had the app but I still got Lego Batman for downloading their Android App.)
I don't like the integration, it's exactly what it sounds like though. The minute I get on onlive, it let's all 400+ of my Facebook buds that i'm being a geek playing video games on my cell. Lol that doesn't quite look good with the ladies.. -_-
I played saints Row 3. Eh. If you don't touch the screen, you can play it without messing with the camera.

Samsung Note gamepad for emulators??

Well found out that it would be cool to play psx games with FPse emulator, works great) on Note with psx gamepad or even to play anything with gamepad on Note,
first to ask you did anyone tried any of this this?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Joystick-it-...ht_3658wt_1193
or
http://www.amazon.com/Joystick-Touch.../dp/B007KCSJI6
Looks like it could be a cool thing...
And second thing, did any one tried to connect any normal gamepad (via bluetooth or via USB), does it works?
I'm not sure which one to buy?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Phonejoy-And...ht_2796wt_1185
or
http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Wireless...#ht_5260wt_952
or any other on ebay....
does anyone has some ideas?
There are a few threads on this already, for more information.
Personally I have an iControlpad. And it works great.

+1 definitely agree with that. just sucks cause in some countries the ps3 controllers are terribly overpriced. managed to pick on up off of amazon for 30 bucks with a USB cable and an HDMI cable included.

Pretty sure they mean this:
Sixaxis Controller
I'm also using the sixaxis for emulator type games on my note and it works great.
After a lot of positive comments about the PS3 controller and the sixaxis app i have rooted the note and got the ps3 controller connected via the sixaxis app.
So, then i got n64oid emulator but now am having intense issues setting up a basic N64 controller map with the sixaxis app.
I understand the basic concept of making a keymap, but when i load a screen shot (from any orientation) it always loads in portrait, not landscape mode, and so i am not able to setup the buttons.
Anything boneheaded i am doing here?
EDIT: [solved]
Anyone struggling with creating the seemingly simple N64oid mappings on the sixaxis app, i can confirm that the droid map in this post works fine on the SGN http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22204123&postcount=23
EDIT: [screenshot orientation fix]

Games with PS3 control support

So tonight I spent a little time trying to get my PS3 control hooked up to my Galaxy Note 2, for anyone that doesnt know the note 2 and galaxy s3 can support ps3 controls over bluetooth stock which is awesome no aosp needed. Took me a while because the sixaxis app for my computer wouldnt play nice with windows 8 had to use motioninjoy. I have gotten it to play nice with every emulator so far SNES and N64 but I am looking for some games that can use the control as well I've purchased grand theft auto 3 and hoping to see if we can have a thread with games we try that are fun to play with a control. Also if anyone needs some help setting up the ps3 control to there note I would be glad to help root is required.

Just got my controller today, and am in the middle of setting up the buttons for N64 emulator. I am having trouble with setting up the left analog stick to act as steering in Mariokart 64. It seems that when in the game, I can see that when I press the joystick left, the joystick on screen goes left, but seemingly not far enough to activate the steering (same with right)? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks~

Interesting enough when I set mine up that worked by default man I can play Mario kart with no issues I just mapped the actual buttons. Try this tho I did this for the snes emulator set up the directional pad instead and then my analog worked on its own.

I had the same good fortune for Snes emulator, but still having issues with the N64 emulator. I attached a pic of what I jst tried after reading your post, but still no luck. Last night I had it set-up with the Anolog (L) right in the middle of the toggle on screen, but still couldn't get it to work. I mean it worked, but not enough to make it move on screen????. So tonight I just mapped the directional pad( pictured here), and the toggle/analog on the control doesn't work at all. So I'm at a loss with this one. Any setting I'm missing?
Thanks~

question regarding the n64 emulator... you say you are using a controller over bt with n64 games? which app do you use for this? and also which controller?
i play a lot of n64 on my device, but use the touch screen layout, it is playable, but if there is a better way, please share your secretz
gotta unlock those cheats brah. rofl
I have an six axis ps3 control and I used a app for the computer to program the bluetooth mac address. I didn't use a dual shock but imagine it would work the same I keep my dual shocks for use on my ps3 though. Your gonna need sixaxis controller from the market. Also I couldn't get the sixaxis controller app for my computer to work for the life of me but I believe it's a windows 8 problem. So I download ds3 control it works without issues on windows eight and has more features. I understand you don't need all this if you use a wii control but I don't have one.

For what it's worth,
I finally got mine to work with the N64 emulator. It was one of two things:
Simply rebooting after installing Sixaxis
Pinch to Zoom to widen the radius of the Analog button( this was probably the fix)
Supergnes+legend of zelda a link to the past=pure win with the ps3 controller.
You just have to go into settings, select controller 1. Then you just press the button you want to correspond with the button used for the game. Very easy.

For a great n64 emulator, go to paulscode.com and get the latest beta emulator, im using it and its amazing with the sixaxis app and ps3 controller. U can map the c buttons of the n64 controller to the right joy stick of the ps3 controller.
As for the sixaxis app, if u have root axis, all you need to do is plug in the controller to your phone, and click pair phone, it updates the BT master code, so ur phone recognizes the controller. Then you click start in the sixaxis app and push the center button on the ps3 controller, it should recognize the controller, then you go into the controller settings, or your phones main settings and then input settings, find the sixaxis input, click on settings, and enable gamepad controller.
Just set up the key mappings in app and your good to go.
I purchased a Gameklip from their website, google it, it attaches the PS3 controller to a spare case, which you can buy from their website aswell, and it all functions great.

Keyboard and Mouse Gaming

I received my Nexus about a week ago, but just yesterday I bought a bunch of those 99 cent Gameloft games, which play nice on the tablet, but if I'm going to be sitting at home playing these, I was wondering how possible it is getting KB/M to work with the touch controls?
I don't have a KB/M for it yet, will probably get the Logitech set at some point, but I was just wondering.
I don't know if you can use a kb and mouse, but you can play games using a ps3 gamepad
