Hello,
i ordered a e986 today and when i get it i want to install cyanogenmod. On my S3 and Xperia Z it wasnt a Problem but with the e986 im a bit confused.
Is the e986 supported by FreeGee or not? Sometimes i read yes and others say that it doesnt work.

I have cwm installed too. It's great to have unless you want to flash roms..You CAN'T FLASH CUSTOM ROMS with this cmw, only mods. Since I am satisfied with the stock rom that I debloated I use it only to create backups and I flashed the hide qslide mod. :good:
When the led buttons light up I push the quick note or home button to get to cmw. But you have to be fast

What I did was root my device (you'll need root for FreeGee to work), install FreeGee, let FreeGee back up my nonsense, Disable LGE security, install TWRP. From there you'll have a custom recovery and you'll be able to flash CM or whatever other ROM you'd like.

Better is very subjective. I'm a fan (and builder) of Carbon for the G Pro because it has a little more customization than CM. We have a few good options, though, so pick one and flash away. If you don't like it you can always flash a different one.

For me, the only that worked:
- once rooted, make sure you get both current status and version (to be checked in download mode) as OFFICIAL (you can use Xposed or similar to do this, different threads can be found on this)
- flash with stock recovery
Hope this can help you as well...

You should try to go over specific Mode / Module (not sure about the English translation). To do this:
- Install Xposed Installer (or similar mode xposed mode installer)
- In Xposed Installer, download the mode "Cosmetics Device Status Normal Modification"
- Then, in the mode menu, select ComesticSysScopeNormalizer (or something that looks like this...) to activate
Restart, flash stock recovery, boot in recovery mode... and cross fingers!
Hope this will work
Best,
Sorry if this is too simple, just afraid of the bricking with Knox, etc. Which Stock Recovery do I use with KitKat after rooting?
Thanks!

Normally it should work until you flash a custom recovery. But in this case you already set the knox flag. So, it doesn't matter if you are also rooted or not.
For whom it not worked:
After flashing the stock recovery boot once into recovery mode. For some this helps.
Mine's stock unrooted and i get that error too.
I just got me an galaxy s3 today and as soon as i got it i tried to root it
I failed horribly
I think im bricked I tried to flash a custom rom it failed and now i cant boot
I do have TWRP installed and i did do a backup
I restored my backup and now it just sits at the att logo
Any help is appreciated!
(I can still access twrp and download mode)

For me, being fairly new, was to use the CyanogenMod installer. It does all the work for you, then you can flash whatever Rom you like.

I suggest you to use Odin to restore stock Rom from www.sammobile.com
When it's done, root again and reinstall custom recovery.
DON'T EVER TRY TO DOWGRADE
I fixed it I found a thread that had JB 4.3 flashable zip because that's what came with my phone thanks for the help everyone back to sgh-i927 thread I'm a Dev and help people there
I was installing a ROM Phantom (NG4) and am currently with stock 4.4.2 FND, and my phone not restarted, stuck on recovery screen.
I had to reinstall the Stock ROM (I used a backup of Dr Ketan I had in SD).
Is there any incompatibility issue, installing a Rom NG4 directly on top of a FND?
I use TWRP 2.7.1.2.

No, flashing a kernal won't result in a different twrp. BUT inside the kernal downloads he also has a few Twrp releases. You will need this one https://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=22806

Well then it's not a Twrp issue.. Ask the rom maintainer.
