[Q] Re: [ROM] [AOKP-MR2] [4.3] [NIGHTLIES] [LINARO] [10/2] shawn157's Optimized AOKP - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I'm not able to post directly to the developer thread, and I thought that would be the appropriate course of action considering how narrow this problem is, but I guess it isn't? I'm not sure of the etiquette here, so I apologise for being awkward.
I've installed the latest nightly (2013/10/02) for Shawn157's AOKP build because apparently AOKP just isn't going to develop for my phone despite it being really dang new still. Everything is working on par with everyone else except for one odd thing; my phone won't receive or transmit audio during a phone call. I get or make a phone call and there's no sound coming out, and the person on the other end can't hear me either.
I'd be happy to dump/log/paste whatever you need. Thanks in advance for the help!

Usually you should try troubleshooting the issue yourself, if you still can't figure it out, then ask.
Have you tried a different 4.3 ROM?
Have you tried flashing a 4.2.2 ROM?
Have you tried flashing a 4.1.2 touchwiz ROM?
Have you tried returning to stock?
If yes to all and your still experiencing the issue, then its a hardware issue and you'll either have to fix it yourself or send it in for repair.

Yup. CM10.1 works, the last released official AOKP (Android 4.2.2) works, PACMAN works; it's really just this rom.

Not since flashing this one particular ROM, but I was hoping to not have to wipe my user data for the bajillionth time as I'm getting quite sick of having to reset all of my ribbons and re-log into every bloody social media app I use.

AOKP team tweeted that there were some issues on the d2 devices (Galaxy S 3) which prevent them from building 4.3 nightlies. Shawn's build is also pulled directly from AOKP source so issues that AOKP team hasn't fixed will still be there. Anyway, I'm still rocking 4.2.2 build until AOKP fixes those issues. When playing around with new ROM, I do not reinstall all apps until I use the new ROM for a little while to see if there are critical issues. Saves me time of restoring all apps.

"unofficial" S3 AOKP Q/A thread..

It's obvious why I made this. Post all your questions here and hopefully they will get answered. Be patient!
I'll start the thread..
Q: When group messaging with GO SMS PRO (only app I know of that works with iPhone's for group chat) after a few minutes my group messages disappear and all I see are random single digit numbers instead of my contacts with the conversations separated in them. Only occurs for group messages, not individual messaging. Why is this? Something to do with data stability? I'd take an SS, but I cleared all of them earlier. When it happens again I'll take an SS.

1) Because AOKP isn't touchwhiz
2) Flash stock rom if you want that option.
noob question
hey all i have a question or 2.
1- what is the difference between Sammy (Kernel), and AOKP Task & Ktoonsez Run train (rom) ?
2- do you flash AOKP Task & Ktoonsez Run train (rom) then Sammy (Kernel) ?
yeaaa i know stupid noob question but i guess we all have to start some where.
thanks for understanding.
Bluetooth to headunit
so I'm running latest aokp by task650 &ktoonsez for my sgs3 att, so the issue is when i use poweramp (latest version available on play store) it wont send track info to my head unit, i had someone suggest to go to misc - tweaks and enable both Bluetooth options but i tried that and still just says stop on the head unit. anybody have any ideas? it worked fine in stock rom.
Still having issues with aosp cam with task and ktoonsez aokp rom. The camera works with other camera apps like 360 camera and ucam but not the aosp cam. The exact symptom is that the app will always freeze within 10 seconds of the app opening no matter if i touch the phone or not. The zoom slider never appears and I'm unable to interact with the app like changing the settings or anything.
I have tried numerous flashes including every version release so far. I always do a factory reset in cwm, delete cache partition, dalvik cache, and format system. I've also used the cwm flashable camera fix that is posted in both at&t development forums. In a last ditch effort I went back to stock, performed a factory reset from there insuring that my phone was a complete clean slate and the aosp camera app still didn't work when installing fresh aokp with no apps or any settings changed at all in the rom.
I'm at a loss here as the default cam app works in cm9 and cm10 but I want my aokp damn it!

[Q] lockscreen/home button issues on tiny's CM10.1

EDIT: wiping data & cache and clean flashing the ROM solved the problem. Leaving this here for reference, in case anyone has a similar problem.
I can't post on the dev board yet, so posting here instead of the appropriate thread over there....
Anyone else having the following issues with tiny's 12/23 10.1 build?
1. the home button doesn't work from within various menus
2. the lockscreen doesn't work -- the phone just wakes up when you hit power
I thought it might be related to the launcher, but I switched back and forth from nova to trebuchet and the behavior was still the same.
I dirty flashed up from the 12/20 build, which didn't have these issues. Going back to it now
(obviously this isn't important on christmas; it's just that I'm up and no one else is, so i'm playing around with my phone)
This is not a build specific issue so what you're seeing is unrelated. This possibly can happen if you use the no data limit mod and don't flag it after and don't flash it after an update. Definitely not a problem with my build.

[Q] A jelly bean rom that actually works...

i've tried a number of roms in the past few days.. one didnt have camera support, another didnt have google voice search.. spent hours on customizing, resetting, flashing, re-flashing, re-re-flashing...
does anyone have a first-hand experience with a rom that supports ALL device hardware (intl Note II - GT-N7100).
thanks.
This Rom is good and all work perfectly: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1925402
i was hoping for 4.2.2..
sorry i didnt mention that.
Could you be more specific? Everything works fine on my device.. Camera support - you mean the touchwiz camera? You can't get that on aosp roms. Otherwise they should come with stock camera. Have you flashed the gapps package to get the google voice and other google apps?
switched roms...
i loved the previous one (slimroms.net) but after spending hours on it, i couldn't get the camera to work.
the current one i use (AOKP) works great, other then voice search in Google now.
i've installed the additional package that its supposedly requires but still no go. i can live without voice search (unlike camera) until KLP comes out.. now i just have to figure out why the ability to install APK's went away... it used to work on this rom but something happened. the "install" option is there but its unresponsive.

so, just because i dont spend my days and nights installing new roms, it means i dont know what i'm doing..?

So why don`t you use stock rom with root? Or try Android Revolution HD, it is close to stock and fast as a bullet with great batterylife and all features are functional.
Depends dude. You got 2 ways to go at it, it's either cyanogen Rom s or stock based Rom. As far as I know the latest cm10.1 all have issues with the camera. So stick with stock based rooms, I would suggest using Alliance Rom 2.0 as I've been using there roms and haven't had any issues. The way I see it there are no bugs, only room for improvements.

[Q] Aosp lock fixed yet?

Hey everyone, so I got a quick question and im hoping it can be answered. I've been reading about the "newer" sprint phones and how they don't allow a custom recovery, yet the developers on this site have found a work around (thank you very much!) Another problem has came up where your "newer" sprint phone doesn't allow AOSP roms to be flashed only Touchwiz. Im a AOSP lover myself and while touch wiz based roms are nice i prefer an AOSP rom. So my question is has there been any progress made on this issue, is this still believed to be a execution within the start code and the kernel rejecting the AOSP rom? or is it something bigger and is there any idea on when this problem may be fixed?
I don't think they've got it working yet. Those things take time. I'm sure there will be a thread about it when it happens.
sent from my GS3
There is thread for donations so that an xda member can send his wife's phone to a developer who will be working on it. If you would like r on help the cause you can head to that thread and donate a buck or two or if possible send him ur phone. Other than that patience must endure!

Yes, as of the 9/22 CM nightly
If you grab the boot.img from the 9/22 CM nightly or later, you can use it to boot other 4.3, roms
Would u mind being a little more specific, how exactly do I grab the boot.IMG or can I flash any 4.3 and they come standard with the boot.IMG built in?

[ROM] [JLS36I] [Android 4.3.1] AOSP - Reference - 20131010

AOSP - Reference - JLS36G
As requested by undarated in my Reference ROM for the Galaxy Nexus GSM (Maguro), I took on the challenge to make a build for Toro. This is as pure as Android gets, compiled straight from Googles AOSP repository. I added absolutely nothing to the build (apart from the binairy drivers), partly because I want it to be as pure as possible for now and partly because I'm not a developer by any means
You can see this as a Reference ROM, all other ROMS are essentially based on this.
First thing that striked me was its speed. This ROM flies on Maguro and Iḿ sure it does the same on Toro! Google did a great job with 4.3.1 and is still continiously updating the AOSP sources
DISCLAIMER: As I don't own the device I couldn't test this myself of course, but undarated tested a pre-test and it didn't kill his phone
Anyway, here the link, it's on Google Drive (builddate 2013/10/10):

You can also use the experimental GApps for Android 4.3 (thanks to BaNkS, follow his thread here):

Thanks, I came here just to look for something exactly like this. I'll let you know if it blows up my phone (Don't worry, I know how to recover it).
First thing I tried doesn't work. Its an issue with AOSP and Verizon (CDMA?). MMS won't send if you are connected to WIFI. The MMS needs to go through the 3G/4G towers and the switch to 3G/4G doesn't happen. You need to manually turn off WiFi for it to work.

Not to sound like a Debbie Downer here, but is there any reason why we shouldn't expect this ROM to have the same issues affecting every other 4.3 ROM for the VZW Gnex? I mean, I'm still going to flash it... but still. (BTW, I'm not being facetious, I really would love it if this ROM wasn't plagued with the data handoff issues other ROMS are struggling with.)

I'm sorry guys, but I can't do much here. This is way out of my expertise, even from all Toro experts themselves if I understand it correctly.
What I can do, is give you a new build. Google just released Android 4.3.1 on AOSP (JLS36I) and I build a fresh build. See OP for the link.
It seems the PA Gapps don't work (for Maguro at least). I tested my Maguro build with the 'official' Gapps and that does work however.
Let's hope this build fixes the known problems
