[Q] Phoenix ROM - 240 DPI Mod removal - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I'm not happy with the 240 dpi mod, its not that it doesnt work its just i dont like it, but i cant seem to go back to the way it was before
Any ideas how to uninstall this?

1. Change to 320 in build.prop file
2. Using UISwitcher set to 320.

I guess u should ask in the pheonx rom thread.

[Q] DHD dpi change

Hello all,
I want to change the dpi setting, currently at 240dpi on CM7, how can I go about it?
Thanks ahead for any suggestions

Sorry bad post mate (this)

u have to edit build.prop in the System directory. when u open build.prop in text editor, u will see "ro.sf.lcd_density=240" a few lines down. change 240 to your preferred value. i think i read somewhere that going below 190 is not recommended. don't forget to reset the phone for it to take effect.

I tried a miui with 220 and works well.. i think its rhe perfect value of density

I like the crispness of other roms, to get a better crispy picture to i go higher or lower than 240 dpi?.
Or is CM7 dpi value best left at standard value for image quality?
thanks

lower.......minor density value better image
There's an app that can do that lcd density or something like that. Check the market

Changing density with a Sense ROM doesn't work wonders for me... Buttons are out of shape, phone app looks awful, etc. CM7 with ADWLauncher works fine though...
never tested with a sense rom...i´m going to try and post here the results
cheeers
Changing the build.prop file didn't work for me, however, the LCD density app from the market did!
Problem solved, thanks all

I suspect that you hadn't set /system to read/write, I found that the apps didn't make the change permanent so now edit build.prop
Erm, yea maybe, LCD density app changes have remained permanent though, it'll do for now ;-)

yes that's the drawback, with CM rom's you can set compatibility mode (or maybe it's unset) in spare parts which sometimes helps.

Anyone successfully change (lower) dpi on their S3? If so how/what app?

Just curious if any has been able to lower their dpi on this phone? If so, on what rom and was it done manually or with app?
I always love to make things as small as possible to get more screen size and have typically (in the past) used a great program LCD Density Modder Pro to do so.
When I first got the phone I did successfully use it once to do so but since then after many rom changes and mods I can't do it anymore. It goes through but after reboot it never makes it back to is and hangs. Would love to be able to do so.
If you do so please let me know how?
Thanks

Rom toolbox pro best app out there for any rom changes

Definitely Rom Toolbox Pro. I used to use LCD Density Modder Pro too. I current set my screen to either 220 or 240. Running 220 now with not too many issues. If you are on ICS, you will need a different dialer program such as exDialer. If you are on Jellybean, the stock dialer works just fine, though you will see some overlap issue in the recent calls list at 220.
ROM toolbox. The lite version works fine for DPI changes. Make sure you back up first.
I'm using 280.
Manually edit it. Open build.prop in your system folder. Go 20 or 30 lines down and you'll see:
ro.sf.lcd_density=320
Change 320 to whatever. Don't go too low or too high. It technically will boot but screen won't be visible. I don't know what too high or too low is. I run at 280. Lowest I've been

Could I see some screen shots of this? I always ran my gnex at 280. Do you guys have market issues such as incompatible apps with a lower dpi?

I was just going to ask the same thing. In the past changing the dpi would cause compatibility issues in the market but Density Modder Pro had the fix built in and it worked great. It also allowed for testing changed settings first.
Is it just not supported on this phone anymore? Does Rom Toolbox have a market fix or a test first?

Looks pretty messed up at 280 with touchwiz
Don't use lcd_density modder pro to change dpi. Just use it for the market fix.

Oh so I can still use density modder pro for the fix!?.. that's awesome if so. So just changing dpi manually is recommended? Or with rom toolbox as well? And then use modder pro for market fix?
And on this phone (north American S3) what's the lowest (successful) dpi it can operate at?
Thanks to anyone who can answer these.

You got it! As far as lowest dpi. I've went as low as 250 with no problem. But have heard numbers as low as 220.

I used ROM Toolbox Lite for the change, then LCD Density Modder Pro for market fix.
I reccomend Apex launcher which works well at other DPIs.

[Q] Any Sammy 241 DPI working ROM available?

Been used to AOSP CM 10.1 lately with 241DPI. But i've got tired of bugs and I want to switch back to Sammy. Problem is that most Sammy ROM's are 320DPI which is terrible for eyes which got used to lower DPI.
Is there any ROM that runs @ 241 DPI without alignment problems?
Or any way I can set DPI @ 241 on a Sammy ROM and still choose 320DPI for some incompatible apps?
Check out my guide.

Yes I think Alliance ROM should be good. I remember using it and reducing the DPI to 240 and there weren't any alignment problems.

[Q] Note II best DPI??

Hi...i just want to know which is the best Note II 240 DPI ROM? or it doesent have to be 240 dpi...anything lower than 320 will be ok.
THANKS
Well 240 is supported by the Play Store.
Unless you are using a PA based ROM with Hybrid, then you could set the apps to anything and just the Play Store to 240.

yes...but i am interested in complete ROM based on 240 DPI like Slim Bean v5.
My favourite multi dpi ROM is Moon ROM.

Hybrid settings is the best solution: you can adjust DPI for each app. Nothing could be better than this option

Xposed Framework is less accessible than Hybdrid Settings for newbies I think but it works great you're right
i think you dont understand me...i am looking for entire ROM based on 240 or 280 DPI so i dont have to mess with xposed or something like that a flas keyboard etc...Like there is a Slim Bean ROM its based on 240 DPI and thats it..
Edit the build.prop and set the LCD density to 240, save, and reboot.

Yes that's why I suggested Slim beans as it already comes default at 240-241DP. If you want a stock based ROM then check into Alliance ROM or Phoenix, I'm not saying they come default 240, but they've been modified to support 240 DPI so you would not encounter any issues with the layouts. Personally, I think with xposed installer readily available most developers would rather keep their roms at default 320dpi unless it was a port from a tablet.

[Q] help with rootbox

I dont know if it is a bug but the dpi is way to small to use normally. I have changed the dpi settings to a higher dpi but with no luck. Everything is just very small and I am wondering if im just doing something wrong or if it is a bug because the rom is still not fully developed.
Ive had the v same issue, even clockwork recovery looks tiny.
