No service, network, mobile network - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

My note just randomly gave me this message. I have no service at all. Most of the time it doesn't even show bars, it just shows a ∅ there in the top right. The imei matches the one on the back. I've factory reset, Odin back to stock, modem, radio.. Etc... Any ideas?

Does wifi connect?
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement

Is wifi-calling enabled ?
If yes, disable it and see if it makes any diference.

Yes it works. And I've tried. It never actually connects to T-Mobile towers.. I've tried my SIM and my Brothers.

How did you acquire the device? If it was second hand, have you checked the imei on the tmo website to see if it is clear?
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement

Yeah it's a clean imei. I don't know what's going on.

Have you messed with any of the Qualcomm settings?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app

Uhmmm... Not that I know of. How can I go into those settings to check them out?
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app

Sounds like hardware. I'd arrange to warranty it.
I'd factory reset, Odin the mrRobinson root66 on it, triangle away to reset the counter, and unroot. You should be fine.

i had something similar happen to me a few weeks ago -- 0 data service, no bars, and network search came up with not registered. this was from the house where i get full bars & 4g LTE service. about 4-5 hrs later everything was back working fine and has been since... my guess at least for mine was tower issues. wifi & wifi calling worked fine for me and i have it off unless absolutely needed. mine is rooted with stock bmb4 image.
OP's might be hardware though

Has anyone returned their phone through warranty because of edge/imei issue?

So basically I restored my imei but nothing is still working I told T-Mobile it was overheating then it happened, they went through the whole trial and error process then sent me to tech support. They set me up to do a warranty exchange so I have to send it in, I bought this phone flat out, wondering If they could find anything even after resetting the Tripper and going back to stock? Thanks.

Trade in rooted device at tmobile store?

Can we be able to do that or do I need to un root it?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
Try it and let us know what happens. ...
But seriously, if you do some more research, youll find that 99% of the folks will tell you to put it back to stock to cover yourself and also so you dont run into any issues....+ its easy to do

You can also just Odin it and it will be factory fresh and with no root
Correct me if I'm wrong

Yep, only thing to check is your flash counter. Depending on how op rooted it could be tripped. Just boot into download mode and check it. If it's tripped use triangle away app.

Well I format the phone by accident and it was just stuck on bootloader and they still took it for full trade in but I know I got screwed but oh well I still use my note 2 from sprint

But I think even if you didn't format or unroot, they well still send back to factory reset themselves and the T-Mobile reps in store aren't exactly tech savvy

I agree with above posts to put back on stock to be safe....but I did buy the nexus 4, unlocked it, rooted it, and returned it within 2 hours (speaker and screen were horrible) and returned with aokp on it. They didn't even turn the screen on to check. Nor have I had T-Mobile give me any crap for it since. It's been 2 months so I think I'm clear lol

Can you use the factory reset to un-root the phone?

Not Registered on Network error

I recently received a T-Mobile Galaxy Note II (SGH-T889) and I can't seem to connect to T-Mobile's network. I checked the IMEI and according to T-Mobile, it is clean. I cannot make or receive calls/texts as I receive a "Not Registered by Network" error every time. Under the "Status" section in the Settings menu shows my phone number, but it says "Out of Service" under Service State and "Unknown" under Mobile Network Type as seen in the pictures. I was wondering if anyone could help me resolve this issue...Thanks!
Did you check with Tmobile directly? Third party sites that check IMEI often don't work. If you have service -service bars and data and still doesn't work, your IMEI is probably blocked. I can't think of anything else. Try to switch to different ROM

Try check the apn?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
Are you just in a bad area for T-Mobile? Have you tried in a different location, or another phone from the same spot?
I tried changing SIM, the APN, and I know I am not in a bad T-Mobile area as I receive service on my S2 in the same spot.
You can also try to reflash stock firmware.

You have to get the tar file and flash it via Odin. I don't believe it will void the warranty.

I have a question. If u have note 2. Then your factory warranty should be valid and cover ur type of problem. Since u have a S2 then use it temporary and use ur Samsung warranty to send the phone over.
But I have another suggestion. Take ur phone to store and let them use another sim and see what happens. Otherwise just send ur phone. And if happen that u have tmobile warranty then u will send them just ur phone without battery cover + battery it self + all accessories that came with the phone. And tmobile will send a brand new device in sealed box
I really hope that I helped. Thats all I know.
Good luck:beer:

I need the sprint radio to flash to my phone.

Things went south when I accidentally tried installing the wrong rom. restored back, but now I can't connect to my sprint network.

Thanks. took me a few to find it, but I did. Got cell phone coverage back, but no data at the moment. About to try one other modem and then try switching roms again after that.
Seems I'm more screwed than I thought. Phone Number is showing up as 000-000-3891. Network says Samsung and not Sprint. Mobile Network state is disconnected.
Did you restore with odin?

3G issues

I'm having a lot of issues with my 3g. Don't think it's Rom or kernel related though. My 3g just drops and takes forever to connect and I even did the soft reset with 611 today on tw and nothing.
Any body have any ideas? Lol

Join the crowd, I think it's Sprint, here in Louisiana, they say they've finished 3g upgrades, I can't tell a difference at all. Some spots seem to be better than others. Seems at night I get better speeds. Mine does the same as what your describing, AOSP or TW has nothing to do with it for me. Luckily I can connect to Verizon's 4g most of the time.

I'm roaming on their network, because where I live, still no Sprint 4g. I just turned LTE on one day, and voila, 4g.

Have you tried Reprovisioning your data ? You can call Sprint, or you can do it yourself. Dial ##72786# in the dialpad. The Device will reboot once, or twice while it is setting up. Just let it do it's thing.

Try a different Rom. Just to rule out the possibility. If that doesn't correct it, I would ODIN back to Stock. See if that resolves the issue.
