I've been debating trying out Decks Reloaded ROM, the only other AOSP ROM I have tried was CM 7.1 and 7.2rc2. With both CM versions I had the phantom voice mail issue. Does Decks have the same problem or is that just a CM thing?
You need to clear your voicemail with sprint. That's the only way to get rid of it once and for all. Anyways, their should be a setting that hides the voicemail in the deck Rom.(I think all aosp roms Have this option) If you like decks Rom then try it out, you'll def like the reloaded series.

Just moved to Reloaded last night and can confirm that I get no phanton voicemail txts. I've tried a ton of different roms over the past year, and this is one of the few where visual voicemail just works out of the box.
FYI, I still have voicemails in my inbox (old ones that don't show up in visual voicemail) so for me I didn't have to do anything to get voicemail working as it should. Your results may vary though, as typical with the phantom voicemail issue.
On a side note, this ROM is pretty amazing....I'm not a fan of the color scheme but functionally it's the quickest I've used, so incredibly responsive.
Hey thanks for the interest in ReLoaded! We included the VVM fix for the phantom messages. Nice huh?! By the way there is another aosp rom with the fix.... check my sig for KWIQ rom. I've neglected it since begining the ReLoaded project, but it will see a resurection here real soon...

Google voice + Decks reloaded = winning combo.
I fought google voice at first but I love that I can flash any rom, install the app and all my voicemail is right there.
Plus as an added bonus, while I'm flashing or otherwise screwing around with my phone I can still see my voicemails and send/receive texts through voice.google.com
Big thanks to Jamie, rope, deck and everyone involved with this rom to put the effort in and fix the small things (like phantom vm) so we don't have to.
AOSP newcomer.
Hi guys. I'm pretty new to AOSP based Roms. I have mostly used Sense based roms and am bored with them. I am now using Deck's Reloaded .44 and Im loving it. I have had a couple hiccups here and there and have managed to find the answers to most of them through extensive searching and reading, but I'm stuck with a few questions.
Here is my setup:
EVO 4G
16GB Class 10 Sd Card
Using "default" mason kernal
dta2sd selected
Full Wipe, Superwipe, Ext 3 Partition
1. I can't send or download mms messages with wifi connected, but it works when data/3g is connected. Thoughts?
2.On reboots I would lose widgets and apps. I performed a2sd repair in terminal emulator, seems to have worked so far, but every time I reboot I lose dropbox login and am forced to log back in everytime. I have never had this happen before. I use KeePass so have very strong passwords that I can not remember, so this is a hassle. Anyway to have it stay logged in like I am used to with other ROMS?
3. The phone dialer threw me off before I realized that the auto predict dial does not work with this framework. Can anybody suggest a good 3rd party auto predict dialer that will work with Deck's and where I can find it?
Thanks devs for your dedication, ability, and time you commit to providing these amazing roms for us lacking these skills or the time to learn them.
This is the first time I have been Deck'ed and I like it! (No homo!!!)

I have probs with the native MMS, too on several AOSP ROMs, so I just use Go SMS. It's nice.
Go to Recovery\partition SD Card\Repair EXT Partition. That helped with mine, but eventually, it reverted back to losing apps/widgets on reboots. I know the team is aware. One thing, if you flashed A2SD in Aroma, is to not do that and then flash it manually
Use Contapps. Free in Play. Has killer contact list options and dialer (And SMS which I chose to not use)

Thanks HipKat, that is good to know. I will try the repair EXT partition. Stinks it only seemed to help temporarily. I did install a2sd in aroma, but did not do in again manually so I know im good there.
On reboot, I am now losing the theme entirely (those chosen from theme chooser) plus widgets and login syncs to apps such as FB and Dropbox. Also, many apps are missing and not showing in the app drawer. Ugh. Glad to hear the devs know about some of this.
Anyone else having these problems? Are people using partition ext 4 having these problems?
THanks again!!!

Hey lufc,
I thought that is what this was. It says Questions for those running Deck's reloaded and I found it under Q&A. What am I doing wrong?
THanks and sorry for being an xda posting noob.

When I first flashed ReLoaded, we saw that this problem existed and Jaime said to just not use A2SD in Aroma, but flash it manually. I never did do a reflash, but I might, just to see if that really works.

That or just flash ReLoaded RLS, Dta2sd works brilliantly with full functionality and is still optional. If you experience any issues on Rls chances are you either changed busybox and are on 18-4, or have corrupted ext partitions.

Hey, so I just got a GS3 after coming from an Evo 4G LTE, and so far I'm loving it. Plus, this is my first Samsung phone, my previous 3 have all been HTC. (The many versions of the EVO) Anyway I do have a few questions that maybe someone can help me with.
1. I noticed that there are different settings for the vibration. Now, when I receive a txt it seems to do the basic ring vibration. I saw that there's an option to create your own vibration, which is pretty cool, but it didn't set for my txt messaging, perhaps I'm doing it wrong?
2. This might be just me or perhaps I'm just used to the keyboard on sense, but I'm noticing I'm making a lot of mistakes while typing. Lol, it's probably just me.
3. I love how samsungs threw in a lot of neat (or gimmicky) features. However, if I'm concerned about battery are there any I should turn off (I know motion is one, but I kinda like it)
4. Out of curiosity, what rom is everyone using? I'm debating whether to stay stock rooted, although I might switch to AOKP. Lol unlike sense, touchwiz really doesn't have a lot of issue with it.
5. Now if I do switch to AOKP or AOSP how is the camera quality?
Thanks in advanced!

1. No idea I haven't been on touchwiz since i got my phone
2. I hate the Samsung keyboard I switch to a ICS keyboard that's available in the market
3. Not sure. The only motion I ever left on was the swipe your palm to screen shot and I didn't noticed a decrease in battery. As long as you clear stuff in the task manager you should be fine
4. I've been on Paranoid Android for awhile. Touchwiz isn't as bad as people make it seem just not my style. A lot of cool looking touchwiz roms
5. Camera quality should be exactly the same except you lose certain features that are only available on the touchwiz

1. I am pretty sure the vibrate pattern is just for incoming calls not notifications even if you create a custom.
2. Yea lots of different keyboards mess around with a few find the one that fits you. I am using the new swiftkey flow and will not be looking back.
3. When on a TW rom I only use the swipe screenshots and hold phone to ear to call no battery issues for me. I delete S voice completely and disable other motion controls I dont need.
4. Currently running FreeGS3 3.0 really enjoying it. I spend most of my time on CM or other AOSP roms but if you are happy with TW for my phone anyways FreeGS3 has been very solid with the right amount of features and completely stable. The Aroma installer is easy and feature filled almost idiot proofs ROM installation.
5. As he said above the image quality will be fine just loose a few shiny du hickys in the camera ui
Thanks for both of your replies. I'm going to try CM and some other touchwiz roms.
Okay I have another question to. What is the purpose of the 0 folder inside of Scdard0. I noticed that some app data like Titanium Backup is defaulting there.
yeah im new to this phone as well and was wondering the same. The storage, extsd, and 0 thing throws me off sometimes. I'll get used to it though.

True! Actually I just found out some interesting information. Apparently the "0" folder holds all the information that was in the /sdcard folder before the jellybean update. Another user found it on their galaxy nexus. Oddly enough, most of the folders in mine were empty. Titanium Backup was the only one taking up space because for some reason it backed up there, I also had around 200mb in the android data folder, but I really had a hard time finding out where, so anyway I just ended up deleting it. So far no ill effects.

Yeah, I read this in another thread when a user couldn't find anything on their sdcard
Its weird why they would do that though, maybe to separate phone stuff from things that the user puts on their sdcard? Idk
By the way, just had to say this but I love your sig, the "life would be so much easier....." part
I love to code myself and I just found that really awesome lol
Haha thanks, it made me chuckle too when I first read it.

HI All,
I was trying to resist flashing a custom ROM for my Koodo T989d, but curiosity got the best of me! So I flashed AOKP 4.2.2 M1 build 4, my fears of bad call quality seem to be unfounded as the call quality seemed the same as before, the baseband remains the original Koodo/ Telus.
The thing that I expected, a performance boost also did not visually seem apparent. Although, my Antutu score increased from roughly 8900 to about 9300. Great ROM seems very stable, 12 hours of tinkering and had one FC in the gallery. I was assuming this ROM would be overclock-able, but it's not, I'd like to get it to at least 1.7 like my HP Touchpad.
Also, the external SD seems not to get "mounted", meaning that in Storage info, the details of what is stored on the SD are not displayed. But Google music, MX player and QuickPic do see it and displays the proper content. But with ES File explorer, "external_sd" is empty. I'll read some more threads to see if this can be fixed, but if anyone could point me to the thread/posting that fixes that it would be great!
Finally, even with Google Now working, a feature I really wanted to check out, still not too sure how it could really help me. I miss the Touchwiz UI, icons, dialer/ call display. Oh and the lockscreen widgets...hmmm not sure what to say they might be useful, probably just have to get use it.

On JB you will find your SD card in /external_sd and not /sdcard/external_sd.

There are a couple of touchwiz themes for theme manager that will make your dialer look pretty close, with AOKP you can put any widget on our lock screen that you desire (I don't find it very easy to use but it works) so you should be able to find something out there that will scratch the lock screen itch, I put beautiful widgets weather and clock on my lock screen and I smile every time I unlock my phone!
Getting a kernel usually solves most of the problems you are describing (call quality and OC).
This may seem stupid to some but I have not ever found a gallery I like better or rather I should say seems to have the most basic of features of the 4.1.2 I think it is... Yeak the cameras basic, no sphere, but wtfe... It has the built in option to save to a external SD card A MUST in my opinion... Yes I know I can use a fix in gravity box or wanam... But that's retarded. And I take TONS of pics... Then move them from "camera" to whatever various folder... Again a built in feature on 4.1.2 since removed for some stupid reason... And lastly the 4.1.2 PLAYED GUF files... Natively... Now it don't...
So anyways... Some idiot at Google or out in Android land felt taking pics of a bubble around me was more important than basic features... Outta be fired.
The 4.1.2 was a perfect gallery, it viewed anything including gif files, I could move pics easily within the gallery... In ONE APP. Now I need apparently at least 1 more app to do this and clutter my wall...
So 1st anyone know of a way to install the 4.1.2 gallery on 4.4.2?
2nd... If not, what gallery everyone seem to love these days?
Is there any good data on which of the major ROMs are most trouble free?
I am a pretty simple guy. All I really want is to be able to use my phone as a hotspot, take pictures without the camera app crashing and easy access to turn the torch on and off. Seems like a lot of the reviews spend a lot of time focusing on how many colors you can change and relatively little on the actually reliability of the ROM. This sort of leaves us asking eachother and it seems like everyone and their brother has an opinion on how stable any given ROM is and all swear by different ones.
At any rate, this just leaves me wondering if there is actually any good reviews or sources that summarize what the weeknesses of each ROM are. I know it is a tricky thing to ask, because they are always changing with each nightly build, but I have been pulling my hair out for the last couple years trying to find a properly stable ROM for my T999.
They cant really review stability and functionality on some roms, such as CM for example. Its going to be different for every model device, and even between 2 identical model devices you will still find one has issues while another does not. Thats why they usually stick to reviewing features and options. But also, what works best will vary from person to person even more so than from one device to the next. As is stated in all the "what's the best rom" threads, only you can determine what suits your needs best.
But for what its worth, imo, if its stability you're after, stick to whatever the manufacturer included on any given device.

I would stick with the stock rom, but I just really don't like it. I have also gotten very used to using a more stock version of Android and don't want to have to adjust back to using the stock rom, even if there are ways to get tethering to work.

What don't you like about the stock ROM? You say you want simple and don't care about changing anything, but you're not happy with stock either. What do you really want? lol. Also note, than any other ROM is not going to have the Samsung camera app, they are all going to be a lot more basic camera's, no wifi calling if you use that t-mo feature.
Torch on and off can be accessed with a shortcut on stock ROM, any third party app that lets you add a widget, or if you install xposed framework, you can add torch to the volume up button, so you can turn the torch on without even waking the phone. I'm with Doc, I'm a Touchwiz kind of guy too. I don't get the hate for it.
I just don't like some of the extra junk Samsung adds on. I like a more stripped down vanilla Android. I originally switched yo get rid of sVoice in particular and just got used to it. Not needing extra apps for WiFi tethering is a nice bonus.
At any rate. Just totally wiped the phone back to stock with Odin and installed the latest AOKP. No problems yet.
You can strip the Samsung apps out, and there is mods to enable native tethering.. But aosp or the kind is a nice option as well, just depends on what you want and need

Thinly veiled best ROM thread. SlimKat with Banks' minimal gapps.
I don't use my S3 anymore, but I have that ROM on it and my other two devices. It is filed under d2lte on their site, it's a unified build.
If you have kernel problems, use ktoonsez'. That one was always really solid.

I never figured out what was causing problems with my last ROM. TBH, I don't even recall what the kernel and ROM combination was. It was just something some random XDA forum member suggested. The biggest issue is that every time I opened the camera app, went away from it and came back, it would crash. Also happened when switching between camera and video. Sometimes it would require a system reset to get the camera back. I think it was something to do with the app itself, cause other apps that took pictures never had any problems. Super annoying. There were some other issues to. I stuck it out for a long time because the app fixed a BT audio issue I was having and I was too lazy to do more searching or reflashing my phone from scratch.
Right now I am just trying to make my phone last until the Sony Z3 launches. I am pretty sure that will be my next phone. Hopefully it won't cost a crazy amount to import it if t-mobile doesn't get it right away.

AOSP camera was always crap in general but especially so on the S3.
You can get an updated on in the play store now, so you can freeze the AOSP one.

The camera in the latest AOKP was working fine, but I downloaded the Google Camera app just to check it out. Works fine taking normal pictures, but the blur mode causes it to crash when you try to take a picture and the panorama/photosphere modes won't take pictures. I found some other people with identical problems, but didn't see a clear solution.

It was originally for the Nexus 5, then they put it on the play store for everyone. Clearly issues with non Google devices.
I'd suggest a third party camera app, like Camera ZOOM or something.
