Need Advice on Headphones - General Accessories

Hi,
Has anyone ever used any of the 2 below headphones?
Sony Fashion DJ Headphones for iPod / iPhone / MP3 Devices
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Fashio...evices/dp/B006HTVC0A/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
Sony DR-ZX302VP Headphones
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-DRZX30...46&sr=1-2&keywords=Sony+DR-ZX302VP+Headphones
Which ones are better or they pretty much the same? I've not had a chance to try any of these ones out...
Thanks
Sean473

To me looks like the same, except for in-line remote. DJ version has a typical apple remote with volume +/- and multi-function button. With android volume +/- will not work, but that single button works perfectly for play/pause, pickup/hangup the call, and you can also configure double/triple click to skip next/prev songs. The other version of these headphones has a weird analog style volume control and I can't see multi-function button. That would be a deal breaker for me. Do you have any local music shops around where you live in UK? If you do, take a trip with your phone to test out different cans. I'm not too familiar with latest Sony headphones, although do use their ancient MDR7506 model for music production since they have just a plain vanilla "boring" frequency response. Also in the past had MDR-V600, and that one didn't impress me with sound quality, was more geared for DJs with too much bass.

[Q] Help me!

I can't get wired headsets to work with my white mytouch 4g phone. I've tried diddy beata, bose, skullcandy, plantronics 216, and others. My phone shows the headset icon at the top, but the mic and controls don't work. I've gotten a warranty exchange on the phone, took. So, I'm wanting to know:
1.what wired headsets work for you?
2. Does it have more than one button controls?
3. What color is your phone?
Try the original headphones that come with the phone, if they don't work either goto your local tmo store with all your equip and see if they can't help you or exchange
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Did that
Original earphones work with controller and mic. That's what makes it even more confusing and frustrating. Even so,t mo did a warranty exchange and again, the box headphones completely worked, but no other one's did. When the 3rd party headphones are plugged in, the symbol shows its a headset, but the controls and mic functionality don't work. I have two going theories on 3rd party headsets for the mt4g, 1. Only one-button wired headsets work. 2. Something is goofy about a group of manufactured phones; ie one's made in china, whiter ones, etc.
People please help me with your responses on 3rd party headphones, as t-mobile and htc have neither been able to help!
Unfortunately, it looks like it only works with the stock headphones.
If you REALLY want to start working on this, i would suggest you root your device and begin cracking down at both the headphones and what is going on behind the scenes.
I've been searching for a while and still haven't found one that works as good as the stock (crap) headset.
Noticing pretty much ALL aftermarket headsets are made for apple and if they work with any android phones, you're lucky.
Use to have sony, but the only thing that worked was the headset for music. No controls and no mic. I'm currently using both the meelectronics m9p and the jlabs j3m along with PlayerPro. For the most part, the controls work ok, but the sound quality is way better than stock. Both has a single button.
For music:
can single click to pause/play
double click to skip forward
triple click to rewind to current song
quad click to go to previous
Single click to answer/end calls does not work. Instead, while on a call, a single click starts the music player.
None of the aftermarket headsets work entirely. From what I can find out, all the aftermarket 3 button headsets use the outside buttons for volume control.
If you're looking for the music controls, stick with your OEMs
If you're looking for better sounding headsets, any aftermarket will do.
If you're looking for both, go bluetooth. I use the MW600.

Thanks well, that goes along with my other theory that only single buttons will w work. They need to make some simple adapter or s something. Stock headphones blow and hurt my ears. Don't want to use bluetooth because that sucks the battery down big time.
I'm told through htc that a3.5mm to micro usb may be a work-around. Will post if that works and if there's diminished sound quality.

WOW THANKS YOU SO MUCH! i purchase zagg in the earbuds thinking that the music control will work without flawlass with the stock player, but i was wrong...
But with Music PlayerPro Not music player pro(two different app) the music control works
Answer
That is what I've discovered; only single buttons will work. With power amp, long press erl skip the track. I haven't tried the skullcandy with single button with multi-function yet. However, I HIGHLY recommend the rf3 envi earbuds. Amazingly good sound with great bass and a patented technology that eliminates radiation from reaching your ears. Pretty cheap, too! Stol haven't tried the micro usb adapter yet

Okay, I'm posting this response as a service to all those infuriates out there struggling to find am explanation why we can't use headphones like everybody else. We find this out when its too later to do any refund and we convince ourselves that headphones are not a dealbreaker. Well, before I got the s4i's, I had pretty strong evidence that all headsets would not work impresa they only had one button (including those that boast several clicks do current things-although it won't on your phone). When the s4i came, the suspicion was confirmed. However, I was very disappointed by sound quality anyways, so not a big loss. I felt like I liked my headphones without controls for sound quality anyways. So, fellow mt4g users, jets what to do. The best headset with mic (you can still use the button to ffwd and pause) that I've found so far is the jbuds j4m. Very clear highs and mids, with decent bass. Very durable and look cool. Chord is a little long though. Better still is a bluetooth device made by cellular innovations found on amazon for about 30 bucks. Its a bluetooth with music controls that clips on your short or whatever and you can plug ANY of you favorite headphones into and listen to your tunes.

JAYS a-JAYS Four headphones compatible with Galaxy S II?

Hi,
I'm thinking about buying JAYS a-JAYS Four headphones for use with my Galaxy S II. I'm quite sure they will work as far as sound is concerned, but what about on-cable controls?
Anybody tried these with our favourite phone yet? Alternatively, do programs like Headset button control or Headphone droid recognize all of the buttons to enable full use of this headset?
Thanks for answering
I've tried these earphones so far:
Shure SE215 (with the cable with buttons)
Beats Tour with ControlTalk
Klipsch image S4i
Play/Pause button works as will the mic if there is one. Volume up and volume down buttons do not work. Double press/triple press to skip/go back one song also works well with PowerAmp. I'm sure there are other music players that work as well.
If those have in-line buttons, I'm positive the play/pause will work.
Thanks for answering.
Did you try any of the aforementioned apps to make all buttons work?
I'd like to have 100% functionality if at all possible...

My wishlist is the same as yours, but still no joy. If only my Nokia WH-701
could work..... (only sound comes through, none of the controls work).
As long as Google does not address the issue (it's a native Android problem),
none of the manufacturers can do anything. For example, Klipsch have the S4A
model specifically for Android, but it needs its own app to work, plus it's a one-button
headset (meaning 2-3-4-xxx presses for whatever function). I find that
TOTALLY RIDICULOUS.
That's why my idea is to use these apps to override for example long press volume button on headset to skip tracks, etc.
In fact I did just order Klipsch S4i and I'll try to make it work 100% with some app like I mentioned above.
I'll report the results here
In the end I got Klipsch S4i headphones, so sound is great, but only central button works for Play/Pause and mike works for calls. Volume keys don't work even with extra apps like Headset Droid.
i read before, dont remember exactly what post, that some rom support htc headphone that can skip play pause volume etc
No three button headset support for SGSII
Hi all,
I can confirm I haven't found (yet) the way to get the all three buttons on a-Jays Four headphones on the Samsung Galaxy S2. Btw, the headphones are great and that wide lead is really tangle-free.
Anybody, any leads?
I tried PowerAmp - the center button works fine, you can do multiple actions with it as double click is supported for example.
Headset button controller apps will give you the center button support for any apps, and you can set a variety of things to do with it, for such a small price (2.99GBP), it's a great thing. You can even have something like "Say current time" with quadruple button click! In theory, you can setup 8 functions just with this one center button but beware, making "triple click and hold" is ultra tricky... so let's say, you can easily program 4-6 functions, so, do you really need the extra two buttons...?
Anyways, if anybody knows how to get the other two buttons to work, please tell...
Is it better then to go for a-Jays One + with one button instead for a-Jays Four? I would say no, i am sure somebody will add the support for the other two buttons at one point, seems like hardware-wise the phone should be supporting this (as apparently using same type of plug as iDevices).
i have these earphones and thers no way to use the three buttons. ajay has an android app to configure the headset but you can only use the center button, so you have to do all the tasks with it. But i think its the same with every earphone cuase almost 99% are made for iphone. Actually i nver so one say its made for android
Just checked with my a-jays four - "Jays headset control" app works like a charm. Need to get use to it ( volume up / down controls ) but - totally worth it
From my experience:
Headphones with mic, only the answer button will work.
For a louder sound it´s necessary at least 32 ohms headphones.
Remote
Any earphones with an in-line remote can be used to skip tracks and +/- the volume with this----> https://market.android.com/details?id=jp.co.chobirich.tools.mediabutton&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImpwLmNvLmNob2JpcmljaC50b29scy5tZWRpYWJ1dHRvbiJd app from the market

thanks for the info man. for now am confused what to choose between sound quality between Beats tour w control talk and klipsch s4i for SGS2. (where infact those two are specifically made for apple ) but at least i know now that it even work for SGS2 (i dont really care if the volume button work as long as the mic is fully functional)
Any advice what to choose or your personal preference? thanks a lot.

Did anyone see the the post on the Jays site about them teaming up with Samsung?
Jays has signed an agreement with Samsung, the world's largest manufacturer of smartphones. The deal sees Jays and Samsung team up for a number of joint promotional activities during February 2012.
The Swedish headphone manufacturer has long had a strong presence in Asia and the new partnership with Samsung will give Jays a further boost. Samsung is the world's largest manufacturer of smartphones by volume, with a 24% market share and 28 million phones sold in Q3 2011 alone. The cooperation will see Jays’ award-winning v-JAYS being marketed together with selected products across Samsung´s 691 stores and with its other retailers in Korea during February.
“The agreement with Samsung is a great boost for our profile in a key target market. It’s also an incredible endorsement of Jays’ unrivalled quality and our continued success. Coming from the world's largest manufacturer of smartphones it’s a great compliment,” comments Rune Torbjörnsen, CEO of Jays AB (publ). “Our Mobile Music concept has proven to be a very popular initiative and the response has been staggering. We’re continuing with our mission to deliver the highest quality and most musical sound to any media player and this collaboration with Samsung takes us even closer to this goal.”

I'm hoping it means better headphone support in the future!
It would be rather good they do something for existant models too, seeing their teaming up with Samsung. Maybe an insight in some API could do the miracle (although I'm waiting for my a-jays one button model to arrive)?
Would gladly see this possible right of the bat and not a year afterwards...

I'm thinking of getting the S4As as well, but tbh it doesn't really matter that they're made to be 100% compatible. They only have one button.. so it's the same thing as the other headphones.

HOW!? Please tell me how!
Does NOT work for me. a-Jays Four with DHD on CM7
Better support in a future? not necessary, no
Hi,
I emailed Jays with this:
"Dear Jays,
I have bought your excellent earphones - a-Jays Four. My question is, as you have now partnered with Samsung, are you going to release an Android application so that I could use all three buttons (not just middle one) with a Samsung Galaxy S2 phone please?
If you would, your sales of the earphones would rocket up as you probably know the SGSII is extremely popular Android phone and there are no earphones with working three buttons on it.
Yours dedicated fan,"
and got this back
"Dear Lukasz,
We have not partnered with Samsung more than that they sell our products in their Samsung stores in South Korea.
The a-JAYS Four iPhone is made for Apple and the volume buttons is hardware controlled to Apples products so they cannot work with other products. But check out our JAYS Headset Control app that gives you volume control and more and for free.
// Regards JAYS"
So no, don't expect three button support anytime soon. I have learned to live with one button and multiclicks and its ok.
Regards,
Mod
Hi,
it looks like somebody has modded iPhone earphones and these work with Android devices, whether the mode would work on the aJays and with Samsung Galaxy S2 nobody knows, if you manage to do it, let me know.
As I can't input any urls (bollocks!), you have to do the google search. Use this "Galaxy-Nexus-and-others-headset-remote-with-medi"

Looking for NON-IN-EAR heatset for Gs2

Hello,
I just got the Gs2 last week and totally in love with this phone. Kicked my last iphone4's ass so hard. But i personally hate the in-ear headset that comes with the gs2. So i'm looking for a headset which has :
- Mic for calling and button to accept and end calls.
- Basic media functions : volume control, next, prev, play, stop.
- Not bulky as i need no display (as much as i hate evil Apple, i have to admit that the iphone's headset is perfect but its volume control doesn't work for gs2).
- Most importantly : NOT IN-EAR.
Any suggestion would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Regards
Why not in ear? Better noise reduction, better noise isolation and they actually stay in your ears.
Are you looking for iPod style headphones or over ear headphones, or either? Also, what budget?

I've actually never encountered earbuds that you can use media buttons for the S2 . I'm pretty sure if S2 had that capabilities , they would've included it stock with the in-earbuds in the box . So I guess you're stuck with a one-button headset . The one-button headsets CAN play/pause and also answer/drop calls . And if you double click it , it would go to the next song , but there are no dedicated buttons for FWD , REW , PLAY/PAUSE , etc.
If you need any recommendations for earbuds/headphones , I'd gladly help .
Yes i need the ipod style headset, the good old normal style ear buds. I personally cannot stand in-ears so they are off the table. Oh and i also preferred it wired.
The headset for iphone that i'm using for my gs2 now, actually can accept and end calls, can play and pause, can foward tracks (double-click), but cannot go to previous track (triple-click but only for iphone) and volume control doesn't work.
I would prefer a headset just like that. It's compact and functional. I don't need over the top musis quality so i would say my budget is 30€.
If i understand it correctly, are you saying that with the gs2 there is no way to control the volume from the headset? That would really suck. This phone would be perfect otherwise
get the dr dre one. brilliant sound and superb bass
Klipsch Image S4A. Made for android devices and works perfect for music control
Well if you know someone with a HTC...
The kind of headphones you're asking for are bundled with some older HTC Android devices, like the Wildfire, I assume the Desire and several others, very good quality 'normal' earphones, not in-ear with a dedicated mic and button... I alternate between the HTC ones I got with my Wildfire, using them indoors, but when I go outside into say, a busy street the in-ear noise removal is golden... They work perfectly with my SGS2. Couldn't find the original HTC earphones that come with it but these http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/htc-rc-e160-p23297.htm are similar so you should be able to buy the original ones for a similar or lower price...

In ear earbuds WITH vol control AND mic

I´ve read some similar threads on other phones´subforums but I´d like to hear from people here, as not all earbuds allow volume control on the HTC One X (I´ve tried the iphone earbuds and it could not control the volume on the HOX).
Basically I want an in ear earbud that will allow me to control the volume and has a mic. I will use them for running (since the phone is strapped to my arm in a case I cannot control the volume via phone) and every once in a while I accidentally rip the cord off. So, either is has to be cheap so I may replace them from time to time or more expensive but extremely resistant, I don´t want one of those that wraps around you head, since I would also like to use everyday and need to be able to stick them on my pocket.
Any advice?

You can not use volume control on any phone but iPhone since Apple owns it.
If you want a good resistant and powerful headset, I'd recommend Sennheiser, or in particular the MM70i, which I own, but it's not cheap, bought it with 25% discount. It has the best sound ever, great insulation, has microphone and three buttons (Volume +/- but it will not work for android, Middle button that you can decide what it will do on your phone) 1.4M cable, compact and weighs 11 grams I think, its durable, beautiful design, comes with 6 paris of buds, and a case.
Get the ue 350vm, it has a rolling volume control, plus with the headset controller app from the play store you could configure number of clicks for different controls. Mine are one click- call answer, end or mute or pause, 2 clicks- last call dialed, next track, 3 clicks- previous track, 4 clicks- volume control in steps till you press once again as it reaches desired volume.
The 350vm has great sound plus a good Mic too.
The above mentioned controls can be configured on any headset with one button.

3.5mm Headphones w/ 3 Button Remote

I can't for the life of me find the article I'm looking for. I remember seeing a comparison chart of headphones, whether they had 1 or 3 buttons, if they had their own app, and Android / ios compatibility.
I currently am using a pair of plantronics backbeat 116s (ear buds) and my Samsung Galaxy Nexus (in ear) headphones. Missing the volume, play pause, etc my blackberry premium multimedia headphones had.
I tested a pair of monster brand sport earphone. They had a neat shark fin to keep them in. And they let some ambient sound through as well. Unless I'm on a plane, I don't care to have 90% of sound around me blocked. I hate hearing myself breathe or the sound the cables make while running. But the buttons on the monsters didn't work.
I guess I'd consider bluetooth but I'm almost scared to use any because of issues I've read.
Under $50 would be great but I could go higher if I had to.
So what's the verdict?

I had a pair of those as well, but the inline remote buttons finally shorted out (which shouldn't have happened because they are supposed to be waterproof...)
Anyway, any earbuds with iPod three button inline controls: the volume buttons will do nothing on the Maxx. The Play/Pause button works for me. I have used it with Pocketcasts and Google Music. This was basically just to test - I still use my iPod Touch for most podcast/music listening, mostly because I love the the remote volume buttons.
I now use Bose sport earbuds. They are expensive, though lifetime warranty. Again, play/pause works, volume buttons do nothing. Apple earbuds with inline controls: the same thing happens.
I have never tried making a phone call with earbuds plugged in, though.
Have you checked out the Klipsch ear buds? Not sure if they work or not but they are ones I have been looking at.
