You are on the right track. Press and hold the volume up+power button until you get three vibrations. Then use Flashtool and flash the latest stock ftf file. When prompted to connect your phone, connect it while holding the volume down key. You will get a green led on your phone and the flashing process should start. Once it is complete, disconnect your phone and start it normally,

There is easier way :
1.Turn off phone by long hold power button + volume up
2.Download Sony Updater Service program from http://software.sonymobile.com/emma/install_packs/Update_Service_Setup-2.13.4.20.exe
3. Install program and follow instructions.
Good luck

Pressing once does not turn it on. You need to hold it down for few seconds, til it vibrates. Then you can release it.
I do this but wont power on. I dont know why.
Its recognized on my computer as qualcomm usb or zeus flash device.

It's soft bricked, you need to recover your phone with Sony Update Service.

You won't need to power on your phone for this. Install Sony Update Service on your computer and follow the instructions given.

That is strange. I am running out of ideas to help.
Last idea is to use Flashtool and flash a stock GB/ICS rom.
Use this thread for all instructions and download links - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642480
I forgot if flashing by flashtool requires to have unlocked bootloader.
Ok thank You
I will unlock the bootloader and then flash the phone

But your phone just connect with your phone by flashmode, not fastmode, you want to gonna fastmode, you need to shutdown your phone, and press VOL+,and then connect with your computer.Just do as what forumer said.Don't mixed. If you want to install the customer rom,you need to unlock your cellphone.Remember you need to go the following step:
1,root your phone,
2,unlock bootloader(fastmode)
3.install the recovery.(fastmode)
4install the kernel from the rom.(fastmode)
5install the rom.(recovery)
6reboot into the phone

power&VOL+ gonna fastmode,power&VOL- gonna flashmode.Seams the driver is different. If you unlocked the bootloader I think your fastmode driver is installed. And whatever of mode you went in,you must power down your phone.not restart.

I only wait while charging till sony logo appears by itself without pressing buttons then i try everything and the only positive response i get is :
as i told you ( power & vol + ) ----> goes into flash,mode !!!

Hi, I`m trying to hard reset xperia s (l261i) phone (forgot pattern and account and secret question).
Problem is-
A. Sony Companion can`t access the phone because it can`t access a locked phone.
B. Power button + Vol Up button + Camera button not working (first I get 1 vibrate, and a second later another 3 vibrates, and a few seconds later same thing again, and again, and never really booting up).
C. Any other combination not working (tried Power button + Vol Up/Down).
D. Can`t enter fastboot/flashmode.
*Plus, I`m not quite sure because this isn`t my phone, but I`m pretty sure the phone is not rooted nor have USB debugging mode enabled or any other advanced users features on. Also, the phone is on MTP mode (the one that does not help me at all).
Can you guys help me? really don`t understand why this is happening and I found nothing on the web.

Flashing the Official stock Jelly bean firmwire can solve your problem. It will work on both locked and unlocked phone. Download and install flashtool (version 0.9.18.3.) software on pc and flash the official ftf (firmwire) by flashtool (flash mode= Power off phone and then connect to pc while holding VOL Down key.
