I am in an interesting situation with this one. I purchased this used HTC One V for Virgin Mobile the other day. In its current "stock" state it works semi-fine, I can install apps, peruse the internet, and all that fine stuff. So I figured it was time to do the unlock and root and install Slim Bean ROM on it but I encountered a problem in the process.
First off when I loaded up the HBOOT page and clicked Fastboot installed of locked or w/e at the top I see RELOCKED. But the main problem was when I tried to do the unlock, when it was time to put the Identifier Token in the HTCdev page, I get the ever fun 404 page not found when I try to get my unlock code emailed to me. Let me know if theres any more information I need to provide you with to get help. Since the phone was purchased used I don't really have access to any of the old files or anything. It was pretty much wiped clean when I purchased it.

Hi
Try this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php
or this:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/
Try this
If you're a noob like myself,
I suggest you used code unlocker because people say it's safe and using flash or other softwares have chances of bricking your phone. Especially when not skilled like you and myself, I wouldn't try unlocking it myself. Also, when you flash it, they say that your phone gets reset, therefore you will lose some data in your phone. If you like to though, I guess you can. Try this link, I just failed to find the 'Hard spl' and I believe this file is used to flash your phone although I'm assuming you don't really know what I'm talking about.

If you want to use the code, do this:
Through ebay/kijiji or etc, you can find people where they sell codes and instructions.
I am also considering to unlock my phone so I have done some research and I found this website.
http://www.buyinnet.com/index.asp
or you could try this one too.
http://cgi.ebay.ca/unlock-code-ROGE...14&_trkparms=72:1215|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318
I'm pretty sure you can find many other ones tho.
I heard from many people that unlocking with the code is very safe so I suggest you do it this way.
I hope this helped!
I found a program to unlock mine, just run it and it pop'd up saying unlocked, using orange branded phone now unlocked, think I just searched unlocking diamond on google and one of the sites had a program to do it, can't say it hasn't damanged it but since running it can now use my simcard in it
don't know the name of it, spent a good while looking forsomething to do it mind, don't think i still have it either (forgot to backup everything before trying out windows 7!)
Instead of using risky software go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3334617&postcount=488
And follow instructions for free unlocking - this will NOT security unlock your phone, only SIM.
And search the net. Solution is there. I don't want to post other links, because they are "politically incorrect".
Good luck.
P.S. EXTREMELY important. If you have GSM phone NEVER EVER use the unlocker from ppcgeeks - it's for CDMA ONLY and will properly brick your phone (requiring change of the mainboard).
I'm starting this to help those who want to root and/or unlock their Samsung Captivate 2.2. I had to search so many forums and didnt find a thread with all the instructions in one place. There maybe other ways to do this, but here's how it worked for me.
=======================================================
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE AS A RESULT OF YOU TRYING OUT ANY OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES.
=======================================================
First, if you're running Android 2.2, you need to root your phone in order to unlock it. I dont know if reverting back to 2.1 using ODIN, unlocking and then upgrading to 2.2 will keep it unlocked or not. I didnt try.
You need to ensure that the phone is in USB debugging mode and connected to the PC. Drivers may be needed, and this is covered in other posts.
Step 1: Root the phone. The program I used was SuperOneclick, from shortfuse.org. I used the default settings to run the program (i.e. On the Universal tab, select exploit = "psneuter" and click "root".
(choosing the "get unlock code" in this application didnt do the trick for me)
Now your phone is rooted. You will see an app called "Superuser", confirming this. This should NOT be uninstalled. Should you wish to un-root your phone for warranty purposes, SuperOneClick allows for that too... though I havent tried it.
Reboot.
Step 2: I needed to update Busybox, and while there maybe easier ways, here's what I did. On the phone, go to Android Market and download the free version of Titanium Backup. Open this program, and click the "Problems?" button at the bottom center of your screen. Choose update busybox (and you can update superuser if needed, as well).
Reboot.
Step 3: Finally, lets unlock it. Using the update.zip process, or the adb shell commands + a hex editor to read the codes from ~/efs/nv_data.bin did NOT work. The only gimmick that did work for Android 2.2 was a Market application called "Galaxy S Unlock". Its free. When you launch it, there will be a separate popup asking if superuser rights should be granted to this app. Answer yes. You might get several prompts like this. I dont recommend you tell it to remember your answer and automatically grant superuser rights to all such requests in future.
Just follow the steps when you launch it and you should be unlocked. This cool app even allows you to re-lock the phone, should you need to obtain service while under warranty. I havent tried re-locking it though.
From your phone numeric keypad, dial *#7465625#
If you see the following:
Personalization Status
Network Lock [OFF]
Network Subset Lock [OFF]
SP Lock [OFF]
CP Lock [OFF]
You have successfully unlocked your phone. Reboot and try a SIM card from a different carrier. Should boot up seamlessly, without asking for any codes.
Now that the phone is rooted, you might want to remove some of the preinstalled bloatware. FREEZE unwanted apps, do not uninstall. Otherwise, I'm told, you lose your ability to obtain future over-the-air updates.
The program I used for freezing unwanted apps is "AntTek App Manager", available free from Android Market. The free version of Titanium Backup doesnt allow you to freeze apps, only the paid version does. So I uninstalled it after updating Busybox.
When you launch AntTek app manager, there will be several prompts asking if Superuser rights should be granted to the requesting program. Choose the apps you dont want ATT Maps, ATT Navigator ($10/month to use), ATT Music etc are good candidates.
I hope this proves helpful. Feedback welcome.
thanks alot bro i did with this method really appriciate that i tried alot of method didnt work any but with your method i did it thanks
I get a "no code found unknown error" message my phone is a Captivate running 2.2 rooted. Any suggestions?
Did you first upgrade busybox and superuser using titanium backup? This step must be performed after rooting and before unlocking.
Can't think of anything else though.... except repeating the whole process from start to finish.
This worked great! Thanks for the step by step. Did it on my Captivate i896 Rogers.
question
I'm a noob, had my captivate for a few months and I am hesitant to root because I don't want to brick my phone (as cool as a few hundred dollar paperweight sounds it can't be better than a working phone) and i was wondering what the chances of bricking my phone are using this method. i have done a lot of research on rooting and i have found that sites often contradict themselves, and i figured if there was a site i could trust it would be xda, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
I can offer no guarantees, so you assume the risk for whatever you do to your phone. All I can say is that it worked fine for me, and a few others on this forum seem to have had the same experience. Good luck!
will this method work for vibrant also ???
No idea. Only tried it on a Samsung Captivate running Android 2.2.
Thanks
Worked great for me, thanks a lot man!
Tried tto unlock on an Infuse, but step one keeps telling me to fix busybox or unplug my phone. Phone isn't plugged in and I've upgraded and down graded Busybox.
Any suggestions?
I recall some tips on using SuperOneclick, either at shortfuse.org or on XDA, that mention what you need to do with the USB cable if you get an error message when rooting. Hopefully appropriate search terms might point you to the correct resource. Good luck!
worked great for me too...thanks a ton
I have an AT&T Samsung Captivate running 2.2 and im trying to use it with my Verizon Sim card..... i completed the process and my network says unlocked when i type in *#7465625# ...however when i reboot and put the sim card in..i go to "settings">"about phone">"status" and under "phone number" and "network" it says unknown..and i am unable to call or text on the phone because it shows i have no signal...also after rebooting, a message saying "Sim not provisioned MM#2" pops up....please help?
Is there like a setting i need to change or what?? Anybody have a solution?
Does your Verizon Sim card work on another phone? The "SIM not provisioned" error usually appears when the SIM card has not been activated yet, or has been deactivated. Confirm that the Verizon SIM is working first. Also try throwing in a different SIM (borrow one from a friend who has a T-Mobile connection, for instance) and confirm that the unlocking was successful.
Good luck!
Alright, thanks!! I will try that!
Man, This is another thread of people kanging my code and ideas. How about show some respect to the dev that did this unlock? Rather then spit in his face.

I also have a Rogers Captivate unlocked and I am using it on the Telus network. I have found that I can not use the mobile ap (wifi hotspot) because Rogers has blocked it. Does anyone know which apk file this is or in and how to remove it so I can use my phone as a wifi hotspot?
Thanks in advance.
Hi
I've got a Bell Desire Z. I bought it brand new and "unlocked" from a guy on Craigslist, who told me it came direct from HTC as a sample for a photoshoot and was already unlocked. Sure enough, it worked with my non-Bell SIM card just fine. I now use MIUI, love it.
I've been having a few funny issues with the radio (12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M) such as sometimes I make a call and the other person can't hear me, or I answer a call, same problem, or the call comes through all garbled. I want to see if upgrading the radio will fix this.
1. How do I know what type of unlock my phone has? I didn't put the engineering HBOOT on there, but if it is already on there, how can I tell? I've got it rooted, can I tell if the radio is already S-OFF? I've read tons of stuff and I can't figure this one out.
2. How do I flash the PC10MSgwhatever.zip file onto the phone?
3. Will flashing this break my unlock?
Thanks for taking the time to help me. You guys are the best

Hi,
to answer your questions:
1. one way of getting some information out of your phone is to use the AMT-Tool to query the device info and the security status. You can find the tool in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1097977&page=1
The latest version 1.8.5 is somewhat wacky though and sometimes claims, that it can not query or manipulate your phone, although you are already rooted and have the right software version installed. So do not rely on this tool for further flashing your phone. But the queries usually work fine and produce results.
If you run into trouble with the 1.8.5 you might want to download and try the older 1.8.1 which seems to be more stable and can be found here:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/26590769/AMT181.zip
You don't have to install the files, just unzipping them to a new directory is sufficient, so you can unpack and use both versions parallel without any troubles.
Another way to find out the version of your HBOOT is by shutting off your phone and then holding the ON-Button and the TrackPad-Button (that square thing at the bottom of your display) at the same time until the phone boots into the bootloader screen. There is the version of your HBOOT displayed.
2. I am not sure, what exactly you want to flash, but if it is something like a PC10IMG.zip, usually all you have to do is put it into the root-area of your SD-Card (so do NOT put it into any subfolder) and then again boot into the bootloader by the method above. Then select the first option called "Bootloader" (which usually is already pre-selected) and press the ON-Button once to confirm the choice. The phone automatically searches for any PC10IMG-Files on your SD-Card and then asks you, if you want to flash that Image.
Don't forget to delete the file from your SD-Card afterwards, otherwise your phone will try to flash the Image again the next time you boot into the Bootloader!
3. Depends. As far as I have learned, flashing only the Radio should not tamper with your root or unlock. But I am quite new to the Android-World myself and would not want to guarantee the correctness of that statement. All I can tell is, that the 2nd phone I have rooted was the Vodafone Branded and SIM-locked phone of my wife. After de-branding, rooting and unlocking it, I flashed it with the Virtuous Sense 2.0.0 ROM and in a 2nd step also flashed the latest Radio onto it. Both did NOT break the UNLOCK. But since I don't know by which method your phone was rooted and unlocked, all I can do is speculate.
But even if you should break your UNLOCK somehow, it shouldn't be too hard to re-ROOT and re-UNLOCK it by following any of the many HOW-TOs published in this forum.
You can find the Link to all the HTC Desire Z Radios in my signature. There are a lot versions available that are newer than yours. As far as I have read in other threads, you can safely flash and try out several radios on your phone, but again no guarantees on that statement.
But keep in mind, that you might also need to align the Radio Library with the Radio depending on your ROM. This thread will tell you more about that process.
Hope that helped...

Hi everyone,
I am still a newbie but lets give those a go.
I have just got a HTC one m8 ATT.
I want to try to unlock it, so I can go to TM and then transform it into the google play edition.
Currently this is how I see it:
First I need to unlock using this approach:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708567
The only question I have is 1) how do I get to the S-OFF METHOD? I need to do S-OFF in order to go ahead with that method.
Once unlocked, 2) will the phone disconnect with my provider, currently ATT. Will I need to go and activate my phone with them?
Next, I will need to put the google play rom on my phone. I found a thread here giving steps to do it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2706391
It seems pretty simple. DL that rom, and then reboot and reformat with it. I just want to make sure 100% what I am doing before I do it. I really dont want to screw up my phone.
Be careful as there is a seperate forum for the AT&T One M8: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-htc-one-m8
There are a few differences (not sure of them offhand). Check those forums too.
As to your questions, you don't need to s-off in order to unlock. You can unlock straight away on the HTCDev website. One unlocked, this won't change anything with your phone or your connection to AT&T.
Hm and next...
Okay sounds good. I will use this instead for the google play:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2709208
But for now, this unlocking instructions should work for my htc one m8 att.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2708567
Also what are these two items on the google play:
Latest Philz Recovery is Mandatory
* Make a nandroid backup
Stuck on step with dev site

Hii,
I currently am trying to unlock my boot loader first. I went to the site, htc dev site.
http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/unlock-instructions/page-2
Currently I am stuck on step 5. I have downloaded all the software that they recommended, google android sdk, Java and htc sync. Currently I am trying to do step 5 which is asking for this:
Open a command Prompt: Windows: Start->"cmd" Mac: Applications->Utilities->Terminal.app Linux: Terminal
Type in Command Prompt: fastboot oem get_identifier_token.
I am not able to get this step to work. I am thinking I did not install the sdk android correctly bc it his allows a folder on the c drive called android which I am suppose to access.
Someone wig more experience on this step can share some guide dance on helping me who has done this before.
Picked it up at a pawn shop. Tried to have 'The Unlock Team' remove the lock but they weren't able to. Referred me to Odin and some other files from their site but no instructions that i could find.
Its on v 5.0.1 .
I ran test your Android and the Product name is: telus_wwe also referring to a Fingerprint file under telus/telus_wwe/....
From what i understand i do boot locker/s-off and then another step to remove the 'lock'. Is that correct? any links to those instructions would be most helpful. As ive seen various routes for that. Should i update to 6.0 before installing the work arounds? As im not sure if they work on 5 and or 6.
