Usually I use nova launcher to get rid of the touch wiz launcher lag but still keep all the features. However this phone is such a beast and it so fast that I don't even feel the need to switch to nova launcher. And I do like the magazine swiping down from the bottom which you can do the tw launcher.
I like the touch wiz features I don't see why people would buy this device and prefer to go to stock roms.
What do you guys think about Touch wiz? It's really improved in my eyes.

We buy the device because of the hardware I could care less about the software preloaded. Lol.
Nova just is quicker and uses less resources. Plus better customizable including hiding apps, swiping, etc...

Touchwiz is quite impressive this time around. It's no longer a burden, but now a feature, for my purposes. The only complaint I have is that I still wish it had a 5x5 home screen. Really not sure why it doesn't.
TouchWhiz?

Let me tell you about TouchWhiz...
(Counting the days until CyanogenMod goes live )
You can set Nova Prime to open any app with swiping up, down, with two fingers instead of one, etc. It has the 5 icon grid on the homescreens and the app drawer (6 if you want) and it works with Multi Window. The folders are better, the drawer customization is better, and it's themeable with just about any icon pack you can think of. The only thing that does not work for me are a couple widgets including the home weather widget but I don't use those anyway. I've had 3 Samsung devices in a row and have never used TW
I see zero reason not to stock with Nova. TW may be nice but the grid size limits are a no go.

It would be nice if all stock launchers would include settings so we could make these simple changes without having to load another launcher.:silly:

This sums it up
Yeah this does. Touch wiz has gotten better but nova still has customization that can't be beat. I have set up the magazine app to open from swiping up and other than the couple touch wiz widgets don't work but I can live without that too . I agree Touch wiz rom and nova is the way to go. The experience is so amazing. This is the happiest I've been with a phone.

I agree. I don't hate it either. After all we still see TW in all of the settings menus. Custom launchers don't change any of that. I also agree with the OP. It's much better than it used to be and for most people it is fine but I like the options of Nova Prime and would never go back

So far I don't mind Touchwiz. I've been using the Galaxy Nexus with custom ROMs for the past 2 years now and I'm not sure if I'll do much more than root the Note 3. It has been working fine thus far for me.
I've been dealing with Twiz since the vibrant. I'm fine with it. What I'm. Not I can change. One thing that it's bothering me (as petty as it is). Is the. "S finder"... How they implemented it. You long press the menu button. To make it come up but so does Google now flashing in the background. Come on Samsung Google has ment things you out on they ROM... Why redo simmering that it's better than the way you did it?

Touchwiz has improved a bunch.
Touchwiz has improved a bunch since it the S2, and Note 2. I am running DARTHVADER ROM and it it's nice. The TMobile stock ROM was JUNK and laggy. I was very unimpressed with stock tmobile but after switching to DARTHVADER ROM my phone is what I thought the note 3 should feel like. I am coming from a note 2 with paranoid android on it. Needless to say I will be flashing the first AOSP that is released lol.

Sslauncher. Very different and allows you to setup the way you want. Everything can be edited / resized / moved.
Takes a while to get a hang of it but once you do it's hard and even cumbersome to use anything else.
There is no app draw. It's instead just a vertical scrolling page which I love. You can also add / remove pages as you like and all pages can scroll vertically as well, simply by pushing Widgets below the screen viewing area. I've added a Music page which does that.

I use Nova Launcher Prime. It's very good! I've set up a bunch of gestures so that opening Google Now is a piece of cake. :good:
The only downside I can really see is that I can't rearrange apps in my drawer. I can put them in folders and hide them, but everything's locked into alphabetical order.

Hey everyone! I personally am always searching for the best stable smooth launchers around the web & i came up with this one, Its preety cool, smooth. Atom Launcher is a homescreen replacement app for your Android. Now, we’ve seen lots of launcher in the past, from excellent ones like ADW Launcher Ex, GO Launcher Ex and Apex Launcher, to expensive eye-candy like SPB Shell 3D and TSF Shell Pro. While we all have a much-loved favourite, now perhaps Atom Launcher should capture your attention. Available for devices running Android 4.0 and above, I personally think it would be how GO Launcher Ex would be if the GO Dev Team started again from scratch…
Firstly, it does the basic things. You can manage screens, change grid settings, page looping, auto rotation and adjust things like transition effects. There are up to five pages of scrollable dock, widgets and plenty of themes. It’s also incredibly smooth- certainly as slick and usable as any launcher I’ve tried. You can do things like edit icons and it supports both icon packs and the ability to interchange icons between themes, It comes with its own store which gives you access to many more themes to try out. The themes themselves are usually very integrated and features wallpapers, icons and more. It’s also worth searching the Google Play Store for compatible themes as many 3rd party developers are making their themes compatible for Atom Launcher too (including GO Launcher EX themes, of which there are seemingly thousands). Atom Launcher also comes with its own homescreen widgets which lies at the top of the screen (although it can be turned off). Currently you can choose between search bar and clock feature which also includes battery and date, calendar & notes. Below are some pics capture from my SG3 with the download links & some nice themes.
Calendar widget:

I've been using this launcher for a couple of weeks on both my GS3 and Nexus 7. While it is not going to satisfy those who use Nova, ADW, or Apex for the robustness of those launchers, others who are just looking for a clean and light launcher may do well with it.
There are some cool features within (most notably, for me anyway, is the way in which the launcher can display the app drawer), it isn't nearly as customizable as the other launchers mentioned earlier. Hopefully, the dev will keep improving it, and it may become more of a contender. However, for those who don't want or care about launcher micromanagement, this is a good option now.
Atom Luncher
I was using Nova before i found this launcher. since then i can not go back to nova, nova prime. somehow i cannt. even if i decide to use nova for a day or two, midway i switch back to atom launcher. its vector graphics seems pretty cool.

Nova, ADWex, GoLauncher.... Most 3rd party launchers have this option.
I'm using PA roms on my ET4g and GT10.1 and use Nova Prime launcher on both. Love being able to hide the status bar on both, makes it look nice and clean.
Here's my main screen on my Tab. I have Nova Prime setup so when I double tap anywhere on the screen the status bar and notification shade drops down.
And here's my main screen on my ET4g. I have Nova Prime setup so when I swipe down the status bar and notification shade drops down. And when I swipe up the dock pops up or down.
Just makes for a super clean minimalistic look.
On a side note, I'm glad I checked this post out. Going to try out that app for the volume issue with JB roms. I've been using DSP on my Tab, it works but not 100%. And it doesn't work at all on my ET4g...

I've been following the developer of ParanoidAndriod rom on Google+ for a few weeks now and this was just discussed a few days ago.
For what I've read the status is visible in most apps because the app its self calls it when we open the app. The developer said it may be possible to bypass this but... Then the discussion started to go way way over my head.
But what I gathered... It has to do with a lot of coding and scripting with in the the framework of the rom. So I think it would take more than the launcher to achieve.
But... I just flash other people's roms and know and understand just enough to do that right and safely so...

Hmm.. This isn't bad so far at all to be honest. I was expecting a hacky thrown together unstable launcher but.. No.. This is actually quality.
My only complaint is dragging an app from one homescreen over to another homescreen is a pain in the ass. Especially if you have a bumper on the phone. It's nearly impossible without using the tip of your finger and even then with a bumper on the phone you practically have to push the bumper out of the way to get the app icon to roll over to the next homescreen

It's really great! A MIUI interface without installing the original rom!
It's pretty usable, never a FC, good and fast...just the translation have to be tweaked a bit...still many things in japanese language...
Anyway, a good launcher for everyday use...well, intended for the ones who love MIUI of course...
I wonder when MIUI v5 will be available...
Great launcher, but has a few bugs here and there and doesn't feel smooth compared to the rest but worth the trouble

Have you tried holding the icon with one finger and then with another finger scroll the desktop to the screen you want and drop the icon?
And I really hate the text in the dock which is why I will revert back to a older version

OK, OK.... slight exaggeration in the title, but not by much...
I'm running CM10.1 on my E4GT "Spider Man edition" (cracked screen, almost due for Sprint upgrade, waiting it out instead of TEP'ing)
Anyway, I was in the "Manage Apps" screen, uninstalling a few barely-used apps after sorting by size, trying to free up some storage and memory, and somehow, I "lost" the center icon in my doc on the home screen. You know - the white circle with all the little white dots in it, representing the app drawer. Trebuchet is still in my app list. I'm feeling pretty damn stupid, because I CANT FIGURE OUT how to get it back! It should be the most simple thing in the world to figure out how to put it back, right? I started under system settings/Launcher, and worked my way through every page and sub-page, but no luck. Can somebody please throw me a bone in exchange for a thanks? Or shoot me in the head through my laptop screen and put me out of my misery? I'll be sitting here, hitting refresh on this post every few minutes, watching last Sunday's Breaking Bad episode for the 3rd time.
*GOD*.... I am SOOO gonna miss that show when it's gone for good in 7 more weeks, best show that's ever been on TV... *****es.
Mods who don't know Breaking Bad: The reference to female dogs in my last sentence in is homage to a catch-phrase of one of the main characters in the show - it's not just for gratuity.
"SAY MY NAME.... You're damn right." Heh.
Ahh crap - I guess I shoulda put this in the Q&A forum - sorry mods. Do what ya gotta do obviously.
Couldnt you long press where your wallpaper is. There is something like add or launcher actions there. You put that on your screen. Then long press over it and drag it to your dock.

I got you bro. Here's a step by step solution.
From the home screen press the menu key.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now select System Settings.
In the settings select Apps.
Scroll to the right to show all apps and find Trebuchet.
Once you're in the Trebuchet settings, clear cache and data.
Now you should have your icon to launch the app drawer, you will need to set up any widgets you had again.

Unfortunately that doesn't work with Trebuchet. Only third party launchers such as Nova or Apex. Here's what you see when you long press the home screen with Trebuchet...

Trebuchet launcher that comes with CyanogenMod has come very far from what it used to be, it still has a lot of potential if the CM team continues to add features it could replace third party launchers such as Nova or Apex since it seems like they have been taking away features that used to be available in the free versions. Seems like they have shifted their focus from offering more features for free to now wanting money for said features.
Edit: I forgot to cheers! :beer:

Whoah..... I mean, it worked (thanks given), but it's not just my widgets that disappeared.; It took away every single app shortcut, folder, and widget from ALL of my homescreens. Was there *really* no other way I could have gotten back the app drawer launcher icon? Really? REALLY? No, seriously.... R.E.A.L.L.Y.????
Not directing frustration at your fix - you answered my question and fixed my problem. I just can't believe that there haven't been enough people who've inadvertently deleted the app drawer icon from the dock to motivate the Trebuchet Dev to create an option to put it back without wiping out the entire front-end of the phone. At least i KNOW how I'll be spending the rest of my night. Holy crap!!!

I guess that's motivation to request that the CM team adds a few more features to Trebuchet... Features such as backup/restore, home screen actions, etc.
I'll share this on G+ with the CyanogenMod community to raise awareness.

I got Nova prime when it was on sake foot $0.25. Definitely worth the money, even at full price.
That autocorrect is so terrible I'm leaving it for effect. It's supposed to say on sale for.

Funny, I really like the sake foot. Makes me laugh.
As far as the op's issue, I know you already had it reset, but I am wondering if changing how many icons were down in the dock would have brought it back?
Edit: now that I have the new xda app, I can't attach pictures, so ...
Trebuchet settings>dock>icons.
