trying to make this work the usb mass store app,but no luck
Type "mount > /sdcard/MountInfo.txt" (removing quotes of course) inside a terminal emulator then post the newly created text file found on root of internal sd card and I most likely can make it work.

you won't scew anything up doing that. and the only way to get it working is by figuring out what the heck the mount points are and applying them. It only works for external sd card btw. And i would run the commands myself but i don't have the note 3. I kinda want it but it seems too big.

No, it's just the mount info that elesbb asked for. I don't have the expertise to take that and turn it into something useful
I moddified my S4 UMS Widget. if it doesn't work, i am going to need more information. Let me know if it works or not.
It requires root of course. And if it doesnt work keep tapping it till you get back to MTP mode and go under USB setting in settings app and set that to MTP mode and you should be back to normal again. Really wish i had this to help you guys with mods and what not. but i'll do my best.
I tried the UMS Widget you posted. When I connect my phone to my computer with UMS mode from the widget the phone shows up as a CD-ROM drive, not a removable storage. If I try to click on the CD-ROM drive it asks me to insert a disc. Seems very strange to me.

I don't have the device so bear with me.
I need you to uses a root browser to locate this for me
/sys/devices/virtual/android_usb/\
Give me the output of all the contents of android_usb directory.
you can type ls /sys/devices/virtual/android_usb > /sdcard/Stuff_in_android_usb.txt
to output it to a text file on your SD card.
The only thing in /sys/devices/virtual/android_usb is another directory called android0. I've attached the contents of /sys/devices/virtual/android_usb/android0.

4 posts about this and i think i found a way to fix this with windows. it did this to me and worked so thought id share so people dont format the sd card and lose all data.
i put the sd card from my sensation 4g into my computers card reader. in windows 7 i went to start > rightclick "computer" and click manage. i then clicked on "Disk Management" to see what type of condition the sd card was in. it said it was a RAW disk. i started to think and then decided to try a chkdsk to see if it fixes it. to do that i just clicked START > RUN (or START > type in RUN and click the run shortcut) and type in CMD in the box then click ok. now in the command prompt type in CHKDSK X: /R then press the enter key (NOTE: X represents the drive letter). wait for it to do its thing and it should fix this problem.
i am not sure if it will fix it for all cases but atleast it worked for me.
I had this problem only after installing Swift Key X.
Uninstalled Swift Key X , Unchecked fast boot in power options
Powered down phone removed battery for 20 seconds put battery back in
turn on was fixed
If happens again i will try ur method in an attempt to confirm though
yea another thing that has happened was i had to restart the phone a few times and it worked but the first post was a common issue and fixed it when other methods didnt work
Comes up with the SD card is RAW so it can't be done or something :/..
Really don't want to lose the data :/
Hey, it works for me.
and for me..
sd card
does not work?
Even if i format it, the disk keeps going to RAW format.

If you have a rooted phone and your sd is readable by your computer there is no need to format it. Just go to recovery and mount/sdcard.
This problem seems to be a flaw although.

No its actually caused by recovery. Install stock recovery and the sdcard blank or unsupported filesystem error might not appear.:beer:

If you can't mount the sdcard using recovery, such as clockworkmod etc, I don't know whether changing to stock recovery will help.

This problem is not caused by CWM or any modded recovery, I know because this is happening to me on my LG Optimus L9 and I have the stock recovery on my phone. Although it is rooted, but that shouldn't be the cause. It's probably a faulty SD card, I have a 32 gb SDHC and my phone seems to hate it, half the time it tells me the card is blank or unsupported filesystem and wants to format it, the other half of the time it sits for an hour or two just scanning the darn thing. Either it actually is a faulty card, or my phone isn't good at reading large SD cards. So much for 'smart phone'...

Definitely the phone. My computer always manages to read the sd card, so of course, whatever happened to my phone is causing the problem. For me, the problem started immediately when I flashed a Rom after root. I didn't wipe my phone before, is that a fix???

It likely to be something in the /system directory.
Is anyone using Zinio with their A100? If so, how do you manage your memory? I need to free up some memory or move it to the SD card but do not know how. Any help would be greatly appreciated...
You might want to take a look at the SD mount swap by crossix. It mounts your SD card as internal, so if you have a 32gb card you get 32gb internal storage. Well after formatting and android taking space its like 29gb but you get my point. Here's a screenshot of it running on mine, note internal storage.

Yeah it seems to be tricky for some people to get going. I'll assume you use an Acer based ICS and not CM9 like I used for my screenshot, but download the zip, extract the install-recovery.sh file, paste it into /system/etc so it looks like /system/etc/install-recovery.sh then set permissions, uncheck every box, save. Re open permissions and set it to
XXX
XXX
XXO
Save.
Reboot, wait a minute. Like seriously a minute, not a few seconds. Then check storage. Depending what file manager you use you will have to mount system as writable, in root explorer its a R/W button up top, in ES file manager its in settings, check root explorer, allow root, mount system as writable check box. Others may be different but I've uses those two and it works.
If you use CM9 its different, but I can walk you through that method as well.

You could manually move the files from /sdcard/com.zinio.mobile.android.reader to /mnt/external_sd, but when you try to access the magazine again from Zinio it will redownload the files to the original location. If you do not have an available internet connection, then the pages will display as all black. There is not a single file that you can select to open the magazine in Zinio, the magazine is downloaded as seperate apdfs, jpgs, and html files.
Thanks, I tried it again, and I still cannot get it to work, maybe I'm an idiot...

Hi all,
For the purists amongst you, like myself, I have attached a modified, repacked boot image that will mount (automatically) external storage devices to /storage/usbdisk and /storage.
You need to be rooted and unlocked.
Installation:
Backup your boot image with recovery of your choice
Reboot into bootloader
fastboot flash boot neostock421.img
reboot into android
rename vold.txt to vold.fstab (XDA wouldn't let me upload a vold.fstab)
copy and paste vold.fstab (attached) into /system/etc/
set permissions on vold.fstab to 755
reboot
plug in your drive and enjoy
Notes:
The storage device will not show up in settings/storage, that requires modification of the framework, I could do it (if there is a suitable apktool available) and package the lot as an update.zip but for the time being I won't.
Observations:
I have observed that in Root explorer, the device is mounted read-only initially (you can simply remount read-write), but if I open /storage/usbdisk in Estrongs and return to Root Explorer, it's now read-write. Either way, you should no trouble getting read-write.
Warnings:
Do the above at your own risk, I take no responsibility, bla bla, etc etc.
Thanks for your stuff

It just auto mounts existing supported file systems, nothing more, nothing less.
I haven't tested it with anything other than a fat file system cause that's all I have on my pen drives.
Unfortunately the N10 doesn't appear to source enough power to power my 2.5" hdd, shame cause my XOOM used to power it just fine.

The PC shows my device and my external and internal drives.
If I browse through my external or internal sdcard, it shows my folders and the files in them. If I try to paste something in either storage, it tries to move the file for like 3 minutes then it gives me the message that my device might not be able to view or play the file. If I tell it to move it anyway, it gives me a message saying that it can't copy it and also "My device might be unresponsive or disconnected". I tried to paste a song as well but it denied my request saying how "the device doesn't support .mp3 files" which can't be right since I did it before.
Also, if I go to recovery and try to mount it, the pc doesn't show any drives for it.
I thought it might of been a hardware id issue so I followed this method found here but it didn't help me. I have version 1.4.6.0 of the samsung usb drivers installed and I have Kies installed as well. I'm running the Anthrax Kernel w/ Jellybomb v. 14.
I've tried looking at other threads but I've had no luck with them. I would be grateful if someone could help me
Edit- I ran a troubleshoot program on the device manager for windows and it said it was a driver problem. I clicked the box for more info and it said the MTP USB Device failed to install. If i reconnect the usb cable, it installs fine on MTP mode. On PTP Mode, it fails to install. Regardless, I'm still not able to paste anything to the internal or external memory. Another strange occurence that I found out was that I waited like 10 minutes and tried to copy my files to the internal storage, and it worked! But, I tried copying the same files to the external right after that and it gave me "the device has either stopped responding or is disconnected" error.
Noob here, but I have a similar issue. Just watched an XDA video discussing the problem. ... MTP is the issue. It works differently than mass usb storage. I'll try to find the thread again and post the link.

Interesting, the video helps explain it clearly. I'm wondering if it's a ROM issue though. I was gonna try switching ROMs...maybe even do a factory reset if I get a free day.

It has to do with how TW handle the PC connection when you plug it in, so its only specific to stock or stock based
AOSP always has and will allow you to mount as a drive
I'm running JellyBomb v14 , and do not have that issue. One thing you may want to try is reformatting your SD Card. Ran into the same issue on a friends device. Turned out it was his SD Card. You can use sd formatter. It works quite well, and it's free.

I'm rooted, but running the stock ROM. At this point I'm sure it's the ROM. I'm going to load the gs3 toolkit on my pc, see if it works before I try a different ROM.

So I've got a work around for us, air droid or WiFi droid.
I tried Wi-Fi data transfer, but I couldn't access the external SD card.

See above work around, it may work for you...

I'm really liking Air Droid, thanks
You could try to install Kies, it comes with samsung usb drivers. Then you can uninstall it and the drivers will remain.
Also, microsoft mtp drivers are included with the latest media player. Maybe update that.

Strange question, but do you have USB debbuing checked?

Yup it's checked.
Maybe this is relevant, when in clock work mod recovery, I tried to format ext SD. said it completed, but it didn't wipe the card...

I know this isn't ideal, but you could always use 'adb' to push and pull files to/from phone. I do that frequently when on linux as MTP support is meh.

Did you ever format the SD Card? What I mean is actually pulling the SD Card out of the Device, and formatting it. Copy your stuff to the Desktop. Then format the SD Card. You can use SD Formatter as I suggested before.
I've formatted the ext sd. Tried different cables. Tried connecting in download mode. Nothing works. Right now I'm just pulling the sd and using a adapter for the pc to transfer data, it's a pain, but faster than Wi-Fi....

Do you have an SD Card adapter? If so, look on the left side of it. There should be a little tap. When insert your Micro SD Card in make sure the tap is all the way up. Up is unlocked on most SD Cards.

I tried various methods to resolve this copying problem (settings, drivers, cables, different USB ports etc.). Eventually I gave up and tried the WifiDroid and AirDroid style apps to transfer files reliably. They worked without error but were clunky to use. Especially if you wanted to copy multiple folders at once and still use the phone for other tasks. The best product I found to do this was Solid Explorer on the Play store. Its very easy to create a FTP connection between PC and phone and then simply to drag/drop multiple files/folders in the traditional Windows manner. Better still I can walk around at home listening to music or a book on the phone while the files copy in the background. Quick, reliable and no annoying file copy errors.
Title basically says it. I bought my wife a galaxy tab 2 about a year ago and used the guide from the link below to swap the internal memory with the sd card memory. I bought myself the galaxy tab 3 7" and have been looking for a tut to do the same thing. I haven't found anything that seems to work though. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks

The script is pointing to the wrong location for SD card Dev/block/vold/179:25. If you are familiar with Odin and comfortable with the possibility of bricking or rendering your tablet unbootable, try editing that to 179:17 and running the script. I don't guarantee that will work, but that is the address of my ext SD running cm11 on a sm-t310.
Yours may be different on a 210. Run mount from terminal and hunt for the 179:XX for sdcard1 and verify before trying though.

I have edited the script to work with SM-T310 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2607125. Post there your device node and I can edit for other Galaxy Tab 3 devices.

If you do make that change it will wok. I have it running on my sons now overloaded tab3 kids. Using 32g card.o
Edit: I changed it to 179:73. Works well. Many large games running fine.

Could you give me a little more guidance on doing this? Basically just follow the tut in my first post but change the script to point towards the sd card?
Thanks a bunch for your help.

Yeah, just follow all the directions except edit those two characters IN THE SCRIPT. I've used this script with smanager perfectly on my old p3113, so thought I might get it to work on my sons.

Just a couple more questions if you don't mind:
Mine is a galaxy tab 3 sm-T210/sm-t21or. Does that change anything?
As long as I have a backup in twrp, i can always restore (in case something is royally screwed up), right?

I would test it and see if it works, then if it does, have it set to run at boot, but a backup never hurts. I just backed mine up before testing blackhawk kernel, which worked well on the kids tab3.

I didn't know that, I found out what my sons was while trying to use the internal2external app, as it lists all the mounts. I was half a sleep for my other posts, or I would of caught that last night. Anyways, good to know.

Run the command "mount" without quotes in terminal . Look for your sd card
And which device address it's using. Verify that 170:17 is your device node.

So I mounted ran "mount" in terminal emulator and it refers to anything on my external sd card as 179:73. (@zibrah3ed sorry I didn't catch that in your first post)
So I guess that's the number I need.
Thanks for your help guys.
I did it and it worked perfectly. Having one gta game on my phone no longer prevents me from installing other apk's. Thanks for all your help. I'm sure this will be useful to a lot of people with 8gb of internal memory.
I was wondering if you got it working. I noticed there is not much information about these tabs, compared to the tab 2, which is the last gtab I had. I bought my sons kids tab assuming it would have similar support. All that was really important was root/recovery and some sort of memory swap, as I loaded it with many of the games I have on my 32gb tab. I took back a nabi because sometimes the memory swap I was using wouldn't stick on reboot, and getting it going again would be to much for my 4 year old. Anyways, glad you got it going.

yeah, that is the same as mine. and it worked for me instantly. I have a 32 gb card, so maybe your 64 gb card is the issue. I wish I could help you more, but I'm just not too knowledgeable about this stuff.
Maybe one of the guys that helped me could jump in?
Good Luck

First of all you need to be rooted. Then you need to grant es file explorer superuser permission when it asks. then you go into /data folder. You should see a lot of files/folders in there. If you can't you probably aren't using es file explorer as a rooted user. Then you long select the script and select properties. then change permissions by checking read, write, execute (all 3 should be checked) under the owner option. Then so to smanager and continue the tut
