Can't access recent apps by holding the menu - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I'm running a stock debloated ROM, missing only Knox and Tmobile crap. When I first flash a ROM, I access the recent apps by holding down the home button. However, after Google Search is activated by holding the home button down and tapping the search icon in the recent apps screen, Google search seems to bind to the long press of the home button.
Anyone else seeing this.

You can use xposed additions, I think.

I was about to reply with an answer to this until I realized that the op was from Oct of 2013 ....
But not all is lost from this thread. this here is proof positive that usually nothing good comes from getting on XDA at 2am in the morning.. Lol

There is some timing involved. When you hold the button combo, the screen will come up with some blue text in the top left corner. At that point, let go, otherwise you will boot normal. Let go at the right time and you get recovery.

Something tells me most devs who ordered this phone opted for the 32 gb. That plus 50 dropbox storage is plenty.
Being said that's when most custom Rom work will start.

So is there a trick to bring up special functions on this keyboard?
I like the keyboard, but I miss the numeric keypad, the edit keypad, and the copy and paste ability of the swype keyboard.
I feel like Swype was more accurate at times. But I do like the layout of the Android keyboard better then Swype. I am just waiting for Swiftkey Flow lol. But only thing I hated on the Android keyboard was that it was too long of a delay when holding a button down to get like a "?" for example. Or just longer then I am used to.
Noticed there is no button for smileys either. I use those heavily. Its nice having them on the fly with the button
I think it's just a keyboard like Swype .i mean this is not so attractive but, also thanks for offer this.

Any way to fix home button wake up bug?

Dont know what else to call it really but I know this is happening with all of our devices.. which is when the screen times out and u press home to wake it up it takes u back to default homescreen. The sgs3 doesnt react that way and ive had to get used to hitting the power button instead. Any ideas? This would be amazing and greatfully appreciated.

I can't replicate this issue. I let my screen timeout and pressed the home button and it simply turned the screen back on to where I left it.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
I've had it happen. You press he home button immediately after the screen goes black, and it wakes the screen up, but also takes out of what ever you are in and takes you to the home page. I've retrained myself not to go for the home button, but the power button.

This is really an issue, "immediately" hitting the home button when it goes to sleep? Why not just avoid letting it go to sleep or hit the power button? This seems like a non issue to me and I've never had it happen.
but my post does not help the OP so good luck with that, sorry for the editorial.

Are you using stock LEAK ?
I think this is a Jellybean 4.1 issue. My Note 2 has the same problem, but my wife's Galaxy S3 didn't when she was on ICS. Last week the phone updated to JB and now the problem exists.
This is definitely related to Jelly bean but I'm not sure if it is strictly a Touchwiz Jelly bean issue. It happens when I removed S Voice from the home button double press. It happens on the S3 and when my Note II comes in I bet it will happen on there too.
There are a lot of people that noticed it and I even saw someone open an issue with Google, although I'm not sure it is entirely a Google issue.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=39326
The last line is the issue maybe.
"I want the single tap to be more snappy - for that I must disable s voice, but when I do it this bug raises its head. "
Do you guys have s voice disabled on the home button to save that lag time?
I disabled the s voice on the home button but still have the lag.

my N2 wakes up goes directly to recently open app?

Can you guys shed some light on my issue. When I hit open phone goes directly to recently open menu..(close all apps, clear ram..that window).
I'm rooted 4.1.2

Yeah I'm getting it too. Seems like the home button is a lot more sensitive. I have found lightly tapping it now prevents it from going to the recent apps page. Consequently my International Note 1 N7000 also got the 4.1.2 update and it did not affect the home button sensitivity.

Hmm.. Interesting. I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing similar issue and confirm if it's not software and if it's hardware maybe if we can tweak the sensitivity. I love my home button and not side power button.

Same issue. Wakes to recent apps.
Rooted, MA7_OC
It's an issue with MA7. It only happens when using the home button to wake up the device right after the screen timed out. Only way I found to avoid it is to wait about 3 seconds before hitting the home button to allow the lock screen to kick in when it times out. Or use the power button instead.

I really like how the htc one's home button works, and I was wondering if there is a way for double clicking the home button to bring me to multitasking, and long press to Google now?
