hi,
i know asking what rom is better is not a good questions as it is different for different people. However, I just want to know what is the most stable, so once I flash it i dont need to keep re flashing.
I am ussualy a fan of CM and when they get stable releases I flash them and then dont need to think about it anymore. on my previous samsung galaxy S I used the CM9 RC for a long time until the stable CM9 came out and then used that.
currently there is not stable CM10 and when it comes out I will probaby use it perminently.
What JB rom can i install that will be stable to use for the next months until CM10 stable comes out?
im using stock JB right now.
stock.

ok i understand. but i guess the main things im lacking on stock is percent battery, ability to alter the navigation bar at the bottom, adding shortcuts to the lock screen slider, and themes.
is there any way to do that on stock? if not any other rams as clock to stable as stock

BAMF has been great. Not a ton of updates as there aren't any issues.

ok, what the heck is BAMF i searched that in the android development and dont know what rom your talkign about
Bugless Beast, 9-27 has to new binaries and is JRO03R.

Rasbeanjelly. Its the cleanest rom ever. Fast, amazing battery life and the latest aosp source. Also the nee binaries from jro03R. You should try it. It has the power widget, lockscreen targets and some more mods. If you dont like all the blue of the icons, simply flash modstorms white mod. Flash the rom + trinity/franco. The outcome is awesome performance, no slowdowns, everything just works. No reboots and sh!t. I highly recommend it.

I agree with this. Rasbeanjelly + trinity kernel. The rom is very clean. Here's the thread, but you should read the faq before doing anything: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1455874

I'm using AndroidME with Stock Google Kernel, works perfect, stable, actually it's a stock rom with improvements. The only thing missing for me is T9 Dialer, but no problem to install MOD for it.

You've already got the most stable Jelly Bean software then
stock, are you jellin, cm10.
after those you get into roms with more features and and there tends to be little bugs that sometimes go along with them.
Nothing against the others Ive had good experiences on alot of roms but as for the MOST stable these in my opinion would be them.
Stock ROM.
Beamed from my Grouper.
ok looking into BAMF and rasbeanjelly.
another question that could help me dicide between the two. do either have the possibility to upgrade the rom on the device without a computer. so when i install it i can always have the latest version without having to keep resetting to factory settigns and wiping all the data and cache

Yeah, you should read up on some stuff before continuing anything Rom related. Just look for stickied topics, read them, and you will have way less questions left.

are you sure? becuase when i was running CM9 RC2 on my old captivate, then the CM9 stable came out. I kept checking for updates in the settings and it kept saying my software was upto date. I had to download the new file and flash it again in clockwork mod.
has anyone or can anyone port a newer version of AOKP for the DHD/Inspire? like milestone 1 or whichever one is newest? I personally only like aokp and not too fond of the aosp or aospx. I flashed Pacman rom but had too many problems with it.
so if anyone can port one it would be GREATLY appreciated.
thanks a lot

You mean AOKP Android 4.2? We've just got an AOSP based 4.2 ROM, so I'd just be paitent for a AOKP based follow up. If not, maybe you can suggest it to synergy or RandomBlame? I believe RandomBlame already has a 4.2 ROM, but it's in its baby stages as of yet.
no a JB version 4.1 im back to running aokp release 7 from the github. but hasnt been a new one since like September.

RandomBlame is on Release 30 now, look for JellyTime in the Development forum
I don't know about 4.2 AOKP, but if it's options you want you could try cfX 4.2.
I tried aosp ROMS and cfx 4.1 but I don't like them as much as AOKP for some reason. Although I have not tried cfx 4.2 yet. Was waiting for Bluetooth to work. Also I've tried jellytime aosp and I always come back to aokp. I ran Icecoldsandwich for the longest time but I want to stay on JB and not ICS. If I actually had the time (kids, work, wife) I would try porting a newer aokp over to dhd/inspire myself but I never have time. Even dropping a deuce is apparently a "team sport" according to my kids. LOL.
bump?
cfX bluetooth works now, if that is what's still preventing you from using it.

The reason is very obvious one
AOSP - clean unbranded stock android
AOKP - unbranded android with cleanly built in to settings menu additional features like CPU OC, status bar tweaks etc.... with everything else as close as possible to AOSP.

actually cherry picks means some small changes(mainly ui and apperance) inspired from different roms and implemented in the builds
eg in official cm11 the holo is blue but in this rom its grey which is found in all kitkat roms xcpet cm11 and aokp
its is almost same as official cm11 but faster and better and smoother

All CM 11 and CM 11 based ROMS giving me exact same problem. Tried Omniromi didnt like it. half the features they say doesnt really work. as in doubletap to sleep or wake up. PA ROM art is not supported. major reason to backout. cos ART works amzingly well in CM11. i really found my ZL to be faster.
what else would you suggest now?
two things really needed is ART and to be used as daily driver

Hi Friends,
I am currently running Dirty Unicorns ROM (Android 4.4.2) in my Galaxy S2 T989. I wanted to switch to Cynogenmod 10.2 which would be Android 4.3.
1) Please let me know whether we can go from 4.4.2 to 4.3 or it has a chance of giving problems while installation of CM.
2) I am thinking that I can simply put the CM 10.2 zip and GAPPS on my external SD and boot into recovery(I'm having CWM recovery) to install the CM 10.2 after wiping data and cache. Correct me If there is any other step to follow to switch to CM from other ROMs.
3) Gonna take a backup of user apps using Titanium backup in Dirty Unicorns 4.4.2 and restore those user apps after installing CM 10.2. Please let me know if this works.
Thanks in advance.

You shouldn't have any problems downgrading if you follow these instructions. However, I will tell you that Cyanogenmod 10.2 stable didn't have the greatest performance on my Hercules - I had a slow lockscreen wakeup and some laggy audio. You might try 10.2 and see if it works any better for you, but I've been much happier with the performance of CM 10.1.3 stable.

CM 10.1.3 does have Apollo! I didn't spend much time on 10.2, but 10.1.3 seems to have every feature from 10.2 (aside from the android version number of course). The difference in speed and responsiveness from stock has been great for me.

I've mostly tried out Jelly Bean ROMs, and as far as JB goes I'd have to say Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 has been my favorite for its simplicity and performance. However, if you're looking for much more customization, AOKP Jelly Bean MR1 Milestone was very stable and performed similarly well to CM. Haven't tried many KitKat ROMs yet, but the new SlimKat release as well as Paranoid Android Legacy seemed great. I stayed with CM for now though.

Nope, when you flash a ROM it'll come with it's own kernel. You can search XDA for a custom kernel (usually includes overclocking features, tweaks, etc), but I've never used a custom one personally. Enjoy!

Anyone else feel JB was still the "best" version for GNEXUS?
I've been a flash addict since I got the phone. Always going for the experimental, nightly builds and such.
However, I am getting tired of my gnexus lagging, and slowing down randomly. I've always felt 4.1 JB was very responsive and good memory management for my phone. anyone feel the same way?
4.1 has been the only version of Android I've not had any issues with and I'm still running today.
I think people just get to caught up on having/running the latest/greatest Android version, when really our GN was made to run perfectly on JB 4.1.
4.2 was made for N4
4.4 for N5
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I don't think any particular Android version is "made" for a device in particular.
Yes, Jelly Bean originally debuted on the 2012 Nexus 7 and the Nexus 4 saw the next major update but that doesn't mean that Android still can't run on any other device provided that the kernel and ROM are optimized for it. Those devices were just test/reference devices for development.
I have cyanogenmod Kitkat on my device and it runs as good (or better) than stock Jelly Bean.
It's like Windows 8. It runs good on some PCS, whereas on others it lags a bit.
Software is software and to the device it's all the same.
I'm also trying this theory ATM, will upgrade to a new phone soon but 4.4 has really been really slow after a while on my Gnex, even after converting to f2fs..
In other news, I now need to post in general discussion until I have enough posts to post in development so here goes.

i'm running omni on my toroplus now 4.4.4 and i would have to say this is much better than the stock roms (i've ran 4.1/4.2/4.3) and they all work, but i really dig the 4.4 only camera from google and i'm a version junkie...
i did try just stable releases from CM all the way back to 4.1.2 but couldn't get random things working and didn't feel like taking the time...
so far, between working 4g/3g handoff's, more stable wifi, access to the latest apps that need 4.4 (camera is the only one that comes to mind) i'll run omni...still hoping that the awesome kernel guys will get 3.4 working and we can move to android L for some of that awesome battery life

The best Android versions for the Galaxy Nexus are definitely 4.1 and 4.3 final releases. The problems with 4.4.x that finally made me ditch it are the unfixed radio issues and subsequent battery drain. I've heard that some roms such as Dirty Unicorns, Omnirom, and Slimkat have this fixed, or at least the radio cutout issue. My favorites though that give me good battery, performance, and features are 4.1.2 LiquidJB and 4.3.1 Vanir, the latter being my daily driver.
This folder includes 4.1.2 gapps and a few other addons (flash rom, gapps, then addons):

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE BACKUP YOUR CURRENT ROM/FILES TO A PC, JUST IN CASE, CAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW.
But I've flashed all these files dozens of times over the past 2 years without any issues, after being disappointed from testing out 4.2+, 4.3+ and 4.4+ custom ROM's.

Hi GL
The MD5 for 4.2 TransformPack, gapps-jb-20121011 and pa_toro-2.57-20130116 don't match by the way, even after multiple downloads.
