Not even sure if this is doable on our phone but would love to see a dev port T-Mobile's wifi calling from the LG G2. I'm willing to pony up $50.00 for starters
There is a $1500 bounty for the nexus 4 that will happen way before this ever will

I have no issues using the built in WiFi tethering for ics. However using Google chrome on Ubuntu I got the t mobile hotspots website but switching to Firefox it was still working. So I cleared the cookies in Google chrome and it worked again

I too have no issues using the built in WiFi tethering on ICS.
Currently running DARKSIDE.EVOLUTION.3 v7, smooth as butter, no issues at all.
What ROM are you running?
Right now he is running juggernaut 5.0 with no issues but he doesn't want to upgrade to ics due to t-Mobile locking wifi tethering unless you pay for it.

its 15 bucks a month...he's not being cheap, tmobile is being stingy. you have to paid for data and the ability to use your data...wtf kind of **** is that.

I agree. It's like I paid for my data, now let me use my data the way I want to. All carriers are the same way. It's not like streaming video from the same source on my computer uses more bandwidth then on my phone. Carriers are too greedy anymore.
Sent from my Galaxy SII T-mobile using Tapatalk
You also can just install the ICS ROM (official) from t-mobile and root the device. Then just use Titanium Backup to uninstall or freeze the Tehteringprevisional and you will be good to go. No custom rom need...that is unless you want a custom rom.
But hell, paying twice for the same UNLIMITED data is not being cheap...it's being STUPID!! I only wish I lived in an area that has city wide wifi...then they could just keep their entire phone plan and I would just pay for wifi (skype calling, etc..) through my property tax bill...I would support that!
The cell carriers are just trying to nickle and dime you in every way, except they don't charge just nickles and dimes...they charge $15, $25, even $50 for services you are already paying for. Once they have you hooked on the service, then they change the terms..."yes you have unlimited data, just not unlimited HIGH SPEED data". Plus you are forced to have a data plan!
Damn, sorry, I just stepped up on that soap box and lost myself....back to your question...yes just root and you will have wifi tether in ICS official and custom roms
Yeah. And I was joking lol. I don't pay for mine either. He told me to tell yall thank you by the way.

Why not utilize Gvoice?

Gvoice by itself isn't WiFi calling, and when paired with a VoIP solution, still requires a separate phone number unlike the T-Mobile option.
Op: it's not going to happen as there is just too much required that we don't have (reverse engineering).

New case
You could use this for wi-fi calling if you have an ipod touch
The MorphCase on Indiegogo
and cut your cell service plan back to a minimum rate.
I'm on the $70 prepaid monthly with T-Mobile and I'm at over 15GB of high-speed data with no throttle/cap/dreaded EDGE default. Also, my phone (GSM Galaxy Nexus) operates at 2G, 3G, AND 4G. The downside to this excellence is T-Mobile does not allow tethering for the $70/unlimited plan (sad face). I asked them why and they simply responded with: "If you'd like to use the tether and hotspot services, you need to downgrade your plan from unlimited to [x amount of GB]… once you've reached/exceeded x amount of GB, you will be throttled." My phone's "high-speed internet" is my computer's as well -- since I have no ISP (sigh) -- so I have to tether, but I REFUSE to be throttled like some insubordinate child. I've been using some app called Orbot along with PDANet to hide my tethering activities from T-Mobile, but it's only USB-tether that is hidable (epic sad face). Also, every so often it'll shut off (in the middle of WHATEVER you're doing) and prompt you to restart the service -- how annoying. If anyone knows of any ways to resolve/work around this issue, please respond to this or send me a PM ASAP.
Thanks in advance!
Dee

I guess no one has a fix for it.

Stop being so cheap. Either live with the hacked way you've been doing it or suck it up and pay for an isp or tethering plan.

I asked for fixes, not backlash, dude. You don't know a person's circumstances to tell them to "stop being so cheap." You should work on your communication skills. And have you misread what I typed? I cannot get a tethering plan with the plan I'm on with T-Mobile ($70 unlimited). I'd pay for an ISP if I were able to, but I cannot (hence my post...). The way that I'm doing it is okay, I guess. I probably need to find a way to stop my phone from getting so daggone hot when using PDAnet's tethering, though.
Last question to you, dude: do you know of any threads that teach everything about kernels (how to configure them for optimum performance; how to determine whether it's better suited for, or compatible with, a specific ROM [like ParanoidAndroid 3.0, for example]; the basics; etc.)? Also, do you know which is the best for a heavy, heavy user (my screen is always on and my phone is always in my hand)?
Thanks in advance,
Dee.

I just got wind of Net10 and apparently they're offering unlimited data with AT&T SIMs.
How's their service? Also I see in the details that no tethering is allowed. How do they know when you tether and what do they do?
Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk 2
Does it support AT&T LTE? If it does that would be awesome, if you're not throttled
Sent from my LG-E980 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
It seems that there is no LTE with any MVNO but that doesn't matter much to me because AT&T's LTE coverage is spotty and the speeds I've experienced really disappoint me
Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk 4
I have been on a straight talk sim for almost a year now. 45.00 a month unlimited!!! Im running both this device, and my butterfly s on it. I get the exact same service as if i were using att!! For less than half the price! Net 10 is the exact same service, hspa+ speeds, which is fast enough for me, i do all my downloading and youtubing off my wifi at home. One thing to note is that the data part is NOT truly unlimited. If u stream videos, and dl large files, they will throttle u until the next month. And if it happens to often, they will disconnect u for good. But for me.....i couldnt b happier, like i said im constantly on wifi for the data part of it.

Dang, that sucks to hear about the throttling. But everything else sounds great!

I've never been on prepaid before. I was with T-Mobile 3 years before coming back to AT&T and honestly I regret coming back. This phone is great tho!

Actually Aio Wireless (AT&T MNVO) offers LTE. Granted they just recently released it, they do offer LTE.

I have the Galaxy Note III on T-Mobile, but it's AT&T branded. Are there any workarounds to get mobile hotspotting through my carrier without rooting?

Thank you for your feedback. I am doing the same thing as well. Nice phone, but AT&T was not very good for me after I switched from T-Mobile and the Note II. I am on T-Mobile now, so it's slightly better, but everything but Verizon sucks in my area, but Verizon charges too much. They need a prepaid $60 plan w/ 4G LTE and I will go with them (at the expensive of having a CDMA phone without flexibility to just pop different companies' sim cards.)
Np I use a tmobile note 3 paying around 140 for 2 phones and unld lte. Best service so far. Next to vzw.
