Is 4.3 leaked roms safe? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I saw that 4.4 is leaked for our Note2..Is 4.3 leaked roms safe?

Why this rom wouldn't be safe?
You can expect a few bugs, though.

There is no stock 4.2.* released.
Latest stock rom is 4.1.2 only

My Note II has 4.1.1 (which is IMHO, at least after my experience on Nexus 7, the best JB version), and everytime I want to check for updates it takes forever and does nothing. Is it available for all regions? I'm Central Europe, my N2 is probably from German or Austrian batch because it spoke in german to me on 1st power-on I also read a lot of people complain on battery in 4.1.2...
Latest samsung stock rom for note 2 is 4.1.2
You can have the 4.2.x versions only if you use custom roms like aokp or cyanogenmod which are based on the new update from the nexus series... and to install custom roms you need root and custom recovery or mobile Odin

Not available for all region but you can manually update it with odin (read first line on my signature)
4.1.1 is having sds bug, your device can die anytime without reason
You should update to latest 4.1.2 (2013 released) asap.

Thanx for the info, I read on the forum about the SDS, but it is too fantastic to believe. It is under warranty anyways But just out of extereme-caution: What is the proper way to update to 4.1.2? Do I just flash the whole ROM through Odin or is there OTA that I can just run (like i.e. on my Neexus 7)? If I update, will I loose all my apps (I suppose yes - so that means backing up everything via Titanium)?
Flashing with odin is more reliable, safe and stable way.
Though flashing stock rom with odin / updating ota won't erase data, but backup is highly recommended before flashing anything.

Cool, I'm really tired of making backups and restoring - done my share of that with my old Desire HD
I can't really do backup because I don't have custom recovery, because I understand that with custom recovery, the flash counter is impossible to reset... so I just have to hope for the best
Titanium backup is nice for this reason

Yes, not all region has 4.1.2 for Note2. Mine doesn't so I flashed a custom kernel just to prevent SDS.
which kernel did you flash to prevent SDS?

Upgrading to ice cream sandwich/jelly bean

I'm trying to upgrade a Tmobile galaxy s2 to jellybean that's currently running GB rooted with a custom rom. I tried simply flashing a newer ROM (ics then and jb ) but it wouldn't finish booting. I searched like crazy but I can't find any sure answers, is there a guide for my problem or something I should do like firmware update? Thanks!
You should use odin to flash the official ICS first before jumping to ICS and JB roms

You don't have to do anything but flash the rom you want and an updated radio. I flashed gb to ics to jb numerous times. No need for odin.

That's a relief. Thanks! I tried flashing cm9 and all I got was a bootloop. I'll do the radio as well though

[Q] Stock Google Edition on jfltetmo/SGH-M919

I am trying to get clarification on running the Google Edition ROM on a T-Mobile S4 (jfltetmo/SGH-M919). I see a few threads with GE ROMs but they have been rooted/deodexed/and generally tweaked in various ways.
Is there a pure, unmodified (or minimally modified) version of the GE ROM that works on the T-Mobile S4? I am looking for something that is as clean/pure as possible.
Is there a 4.3 version of this ROM available?
Thanks!

Hi,
I'm using the Virgin ROM V2.3.1 on my TMobile GS4 for few weeks, it's been good so far, it is JB 4.3.
Below is the thread link. There are other ROMs available but haven't tried them yet.

You can reboot in recovery and then restore. I would do a search online/in this forum to find out the extact steps for restore for the custom recovery you are using.

Are ROMS and Kernels device specific?

I ask because I do not know.
Please be kind as I am still new to these forums.
I ask also because I want to load 4.2.2 or 4.3 ROM
I would like a stock rooted ROM but I am not sure if I need to update the kernel as well.
I am currently running - UCALJ3 - Stock ROOTED and i927R-boot-ardatdat-AA.img
Device - SGH-I927
I use VOIP - textnow and so the 4.3 ROMS are not optional as the VOIP does not function as intended
SO, how about 4.2.2? I can't seem to find a stock rom that has no issues with our device.
CM10.1 and 10.2 seem to all have issues.
Anyone have any advice or help?
Isn't the "Stock UCLJ3" free of issues?

Yes the stock rooted 4.0.4 ROM works perfect.

Here is another kernel for MK2 4.3 roms: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23252070760972765
The dev @jovy23 of the Darthstalker rom cooked up this one and it's really good!
Good luck!

If you want the two kernels compared, compare it yourself.
Everyone has their own prejudices and pre conceived ideas.
Good luck!
