The Gallery app is acting weird. App data keeps on increasing drastically. I noticed it yesterday that the app data was 50.2 GB. How is it possible for a device that has 8 GB of memory to have 50 GB of space for an application. Its not like the device is slowing down overall but i cant really tell although when i open application manager or storage it takes a lot of time to load.
I am not sure if this is a problem of latest rom because i noticed it just yesterday. I have disabled it for now and am using Quickpic as a gallery app. Anyone facing this issue or have a solution do comment.
its a bug in 4.2.2 official mine shows 95gb

Yea it will not affect your phone in a harmful way but when you try to install or update anything it won't let you, saying that your memory is full.
What I did was, go to Settings>Application Manager> All Applications, Select Gallery and clear all Data and Cache
After that didn't go up back for me.
If it still remains a problem either clear data/cache of gallery app and then disable it, and use app like QuickPic as your main Gallery

No not at all, if it's still a problem for you, just wipe cache/dalvik/data and reinstall the ROM you are using.

Still no luck. Whenever i try to install a new app it shows insufficient storage space. Isnt there any solution to it. To be honest doing a factroy reset is a pain in the ass..

Sorry for double posting but i would like to add some information. That menu which comes up by pressing volume down + menu + power buttons is bugged. Whenever i try to wipe cache it shows an error message and the fone restarts itself.

You need to reinstall the recovery with Odin and wipe everything, data/cache/dalvik and re-flash the 4.2.2 firmware so it's clean.
Then install the ROM you are using, skip this step if you are just using Stock ROM.

I am using stock rom 4.2.2. Updated it OTA. Cant i just reset it or do i have to flash the whole rom? If i have to flash the whole rom then it would be kind of u to provide me a download link as i am not aware where i could find it. But if a simple reset will solve the problem then i would appreciate it because downloading the whole rom would take time.

No you probably don't need to reflash the whole thing. Try this before resorting to that.
I'm using if you are on OTA updates, you are not rooted, so these are instructions for stock recovery :
Press Volume Up+Home+Power and hold till you see your phone's model number on your screen.
You will boot into recovery, use this carefully.
Use volume buttons to scroll up and down and power button to confirm and execute the selected command.
scroll down to wipe cache partition, press power to execute this (This will wipe all app's cache partitions)
Scroll up to reboot system now, and confirm
If you have touch custom recovery it should be similar except you wont need volume keys to scroll

Last option is to try and flash the entire firmware through Odin or if you have not rooted just take it to Samsung service, they will do it for you. Guides and links for that are in general section if you want to flash the firmware or root or your phone
@iceyhotguy If he is rooted he can take a back up of current gallery and try pushing note 3's gallery to system/app with right permissions may be that will work out wt say??a

He's not rooted, he mentioned he updated with OTA and that he has a recovery with a "dead android" (lol), that's stock Samsung recovery.
It will be easier just to re-flash the firmware than experiment with ported gallery after rooting for him
I have the same problem on my I-9082 (Grand) and my gallery was over 100 GB. I cleared catch and data, but it's increasing again, and when it gets very high, it makes my phone work very very slowly. Is it possible to replace this gallery with another version or app?
I'm using Stock ROM 4.2.2, but rooted. The same problem happens to my contacts too, but that is more delicate and less harmful to my phone.

2. Download Gapps from same link above
2.5 Download Underwear Kernel from same link above (then drop it all in root of phone)
3.Do a Nandroid backup (I think i already did this in the rom manager app. Do i have to do it again by going into recovery mode? Or is it just two ways of doing the same thing?)
4.Boot into CWM recovery
5.Wipe data/factory reset,
6.wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache,
7.go to mounts & storage and format system.
8.Flash ROM

This is the best help I could find for backing up the IMEI, but I've NEVER had an issue with it and I flash ROMs all of the time.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1946915
1.First off, it is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766684 and yes. That is correct.
2. Correct
2.5 You don't need to, it is already packed inside the ROM.
3. I always do a Nandroid within Recovery. I didn't know you could do it anywhere else.
4.Yes
5.Yes
6. Yes
7.Yes
8.Yes
9. No, Kernel is already flashed from inside the ROM package.
10.Yes
11.Yes
12. No
Here are my steps. First I am rooted on 4.0.4. Then I download goomanager from the android market. Open goo and hit the menu button and install open recovery script. This will install twrp recovery. Then I reboot into recovery and wipe data/factory reset and clear cache. Next I make a full back up in twrp. After that I reboot the phone and back up the imei with nv backup and peoples army method. I did both because im paranoid. Copy your files to your storage. Next I go back into twrp and wipe again, flash the latest work from task. The underwear kernal is included. Last flash gapps. Reboot and feel pimp!

Thanks for your help. Final Question: I noticed that Tibu has a option to turn all of my backed up apps into a update.zip. Can i just do that and use it to restore my apps in the recovery menu once im done? Or do i have to do it the long way through the Tibu app?
Or should i do it another way?

you can use the paid tibu to batch backup your apps in a flashable zip, yes.
do NOT include system apps/data in this backup. you will only have problems if you do.
I don't recommend that. Last time I tried that, it corrupted the app data, so I had to restore the normal way with TiBu. It might be better now, but just the issues I have ran into.
Okay, everything worked great! I only have three problems. First one is my notification bar at the top of my phone is clear. Not 20% tranceparency but 100%. Is there a way to get the black bar back? Also, How do screenshots work? And is there a way for enable landscape mode on the home screens?

i dont know about your notification bar. maybe someone running tasks 4.2.2 can weigh in.
to take a screenshot, hold vol down + power buttons together
unless task has landscape mode built into the ROM control settings, you'll have to use a launcher like Nova to enable that

Notification bar might need a reboot to take effect once you set it to 100%. Also, try setting it to 0% and back to 100%.
Nova is the main launcher with Task's AOKP, go through the settings if you want your homescreen in landscape. Also, you can just use the auto-rotate feature (in the pulldown menu).

To get the black bar back at all times go into settings->ROM Control-> General UI->Transparency settings. Uncheck "Match lockscreen alpha" and turn them both to 100%. This will give you a black status bar and will stay consistent.
With the screenshots, voldown/power button. Sometimes you have to hold them for like 1.5 seconds to get it to work.

Actually if he wipes data/factory reset, he will loose all his apps and their data along with his contacts. But his images and other data on the sd card and extSD will remain safe
Easiest way to root would be, take the recovery .tar file from this thread according to your firmware (4.1.2 or 4.2.2) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2315529
And follow this step-by-step guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46395577&postcount=19
There are three other guides available in General Section explaining the rooting process along with few videos on youtube, so those can be use for reference.
After you are rooted, you can download an app like SuperBackup Pro (more easy to use for beginners than Titanium Backup)
The app is pretty straight forward and easy to use, but if you still run into problems, post your problem here again

Install the application I mentioned above, it will require root access. Use it to manually backup your contacts, calender, apps all you want.
Once you are done, boot into your custom recovery, select Wipe data/factory reset, it will ask for confirmation, so select Yes.
Then Wipe cache the same way.
After both the things are done, Go to Advanced option, clear Dalvik Cache.
If you want to restore your root access at this point, Select Install Zip and select the flashable SuperSU.zip you already have.
Then, press Back key, and select Reboot System.
The initial boot will take some time, but your phone will be good as new
To restore your apps, download Super Backup again, and you can restore each application, contacts, messages.
Side note, for Whatsapp to backup your most recent conversations, Open whatsapp, go to settings>chat settings>Backup. This will be stored in you internal memory/whatsapp/databases folder. once you reinstall whatsapp, it will ask you for a restore.

Searched and read a few articles regarding flashing ROMs, most seem mentioning 'wipe data/factory reset' and 'wipe cache partition'. Does those wipe operation wipe off my apps and data?
Do I need do those wipes if I am upgrading from cm10.2 to cm11? Or only needed when flashing different ROMs?
Yes you need to wipe Dalvik and Cache. If you wipe only those 2, your data is safe.

Seems TWRP v2.6.3.0 doesn't work for cm11? Tried install cm-11-20140210-SNAPSHOT-M3-d2tmo.zip but always failed.
I had to install CWM_6.0.4.3 and then install cm-11-20140210-SNAPSHOT-M3-d2tmo.zip
Try some other Rom before ruling out the recovery.

Is there a dedicated thread to discuss/ask question for CM11 for Tmobile GS3? Or just here?
Have noticed following:
the clock app doesn't work, try to run it and immediate stopped
the wifi icon in top right corner used to show blue when it is connected, now it is always white.
Running M3 and ROM itself is great. Noticed a few things:
* clock and camera app didn't work, I download stock clock and camera app and install again, they works but stop working again after reboot.
* using tasker to turn on wifi hotspot via secure settings, received secure settings crashed message. turn on/off wifi hotspot via system setting works fine.
* on 3/26, the phone only has 5% battery usage over night. However last night the phone has 80% of battery around 11pm, but down to 1% at 2:30am and the phone shut down. (I was woke due to the vibration from the phone when it shut down). wasn't sure what's going on. BetterBatteryStats didn't capture stats since the phone powered off and it only has reference "since boot" now.
anyone now has similar issue? and how to solve it?
which one is the most stable CM11 release?
Thanks.
This is not the right place to post questions on the Rom. You will have to do a little search and you will find the right thread.

You're in luck, shouldn't be to hard to fix. If you have the stock/working system ui apk you should be able to install it as an app. I had the same problem after using softkeyz. If you need the apk dm @ [email protected]

Flash that and you should be good. You need the correct stock recovery installed.

Hi, Would I have to put in a stock recovery first then install the OTA (link you provided me) Thanks.
Restart the phone, then once it boots before doing anything tap the app drawer and go to settings. Go straight to the apps, and navigate to all apps. click on the HTC Blinkfeed app, and clear the data. After that go to HTC Dotview and clear the data. Restart the phone again. This should fix your problem. I had this problem a few times after doing a restore of my nandroid.

Boot into your stock recovery and go into wipe data/factory reset option.
That resolved the issue for me.

This issue was resolved by installing the stock recovery, going into data wipe and factory reset. Then restaring the phone. Phone boots up and is working as normal!! Woohoo i been spending most of the weekend trying to fix it and it turned out to be so simple. Thanks to everyone that helped me.

OMG Thank you so much. I was wiping all kinds of cache , restoring all kinds of backups and nothing was helping the matter. Thanks for making it clear that I have to flash back the stock recovery and data wipe and factory reset from there
i have been having problems with my tab, i would like to do a factory reset, do i have to flash a stock rom? i dont really get this stuff to much, im use to putting a rom on my device then flash it from that, i dont really know about doing it from odin.
i found (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2798835&page=3) is this something i can do with odin and if so then how?
some of the problems might be that in order to make room i might of stupidly root uninstalled some system apps i needed, i had thought i had backed them up but i think i forgot to.
my camera app doesnt seem to work, does any one just have the stock camera app? maybe this will help.

The safest way if you want to know for sure is to download the original firmware here :http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-T700/
Then inside the zip file will be a tar or md5 file which goes whereever you like ie desktop.
Then its the exact same process as rooting through odin, ie download mode first, connect cable, click pda box on right and browse to the extracted files...then your good to go...this also will have a built in PIT file meaning if ever you damage your partitiobs on your device this method will also solve that problem.
Good Luck pal.
i dont see any for united states
Why oh why do people NOT make backups in recovery BEFORE messing with the stock rom? All could have been fixed in minutes.
Just try and flash the Cellular South firmware, you may get an error flashing, but if you do comeback and we'll probably be able to get around it.
i did make a backup, just dont know where it went.....

The backup folder will either be on the internal or external sd card. Just direct twrp to it by selecting the right one.

what is twrp, i dont really get it, isnt it a app to help with recovery, is it also a windows program?
Well if you don't know what TWRP is then you can't have made a backup with it.
It's a custom recovery used for backing up your device and installing software.

i know odin, after pressing i get a black scree, with
warning!!
a custom OS can cause critical problems in device and installed applications if you want to download a custom OS, press volume up key. otherwise, press the volume down key to cancel.
and it had a yellow triangle on the bottom with a exclamation point in it
then when i press up
i get odin mode with "downloading" do not turn of target and an android guy
That's stock recovery.
You need to install this with odin for TWRP.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934554230
just tried that, and doing what pdolton2000 suggested a few post up, nothing.
still seems to be on stock odin
I think you mean stock recovery.
Right, put the .tar file you downloaded into Odin by clicking the AP button.
Now in the options tab untick Auto reboot. Click the Log tab.
Click start. Odin will now flash the recovery.
Once it's completed, press and hold POWER +VOL DOWN +HOME. As soon as your screen goes off change to VOL UP whilst still holding the other 2 buttons. Hold until recovery boots.

What's not actually working, twrp or factory reset, please be more specific.
Sent from my SM-T805 using XDA Free mobile app
i tried tried changing the build prop that you recomended here]http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/help/t700-frozen-samsung-screen-kies-doesnt-t3080122 through twrp, but it was already at default, probably because i hit nand erase all on odin when flashing the stock rom, but it was still stuck on the samsung screen, i can get to TWRP, but nothing i do works, tried to wipe data and still,
