Hi, I've downloaded a couple of apps from xda and tried to install but to no joy. I get to the install screen showing permissions etc, press install and no response! Cancel works ok though lol. I have install apps from unknown sources ticked and am running 2.17.401.2 stock rom. Hope someone can help.

yep sounds like some 3rd party app causing conflict (just like 'screen adjuster' used to do before it was updated to ICS)
*try disabling a few apps see if that does the trick
Thank you guys, yep had a screen adjuster running. Stopped it and everything installs fine now. Thanks for the heads up never even thought of that.

I had the same thing happen to me about a week ago. Didn't drop it, didn't get it wet. One phone call it worked and the next, nothing. Anyone else having this issue or have a solution?

Have you installed any call recording app? If so remove it .
Else perform a factory data reset if it is related to any software problems
If still it doesn't work .Give the phone to the nearest HTC service center. They will replace your phone with a new one
Note: You might receive your phone within a week or Max two weeks

Depending on where you live you should be getting the JB update soon/ may already have access to it which includes project butter which oretty much gets rid of lag. I have always noticed some lag on ics no matter if I'm using the stock or custom rom.

Go to the option 2 of the first post, follow what he says and do the command it tells you to then at the bottom of option 2 it explains what the numbers mean and what to do. You can then download a RUU file to your computer from the links provided but read the instructions in option 2 and on the RUU file itself.
OR
Seeing as though you are on the stock ROM you can just go to settings>about phone>check for update.
If it says no update found just check back later it may take some time though. You wont lose your data this way and it is much safer and easier.
You need to be on stock recovery for both methods.
Just a warning: Make sure your phone doesn't lose USB connection to the computer when running the RUU.

Bingo - and you have not made a nandroid backup before - correct?
Ya never

Do I need to do a back up and will it mess with my root at all ??
Sent from my One V using xda app-developers app
Well, you can make factory reset or full wipe, can't you?
Your contacts, apps settings etc. might have been synced, but only if you enabled that.
If you want to do more recovery: there is possibility do do backup (before wipe!) from Custom Recovery and on your computer extract some files from it (by mounting it's SD card).
Thank u

You can't do nothing about it

Could be caused by an app ! Maybe a factory reset can help. Or un-install some "strange" apps
