Hi guys.
I put my note 2 in for repair and when i got it back it had the latest 4.1.2 update.
Now when i create a new album in gallery it creates the new album in a folder called Pictures on the phone instead of in the default location of the memory card.
The only way i have found around it is to connect the phone to my computer and move the new folder over to my memory card which is a bit of a pain.
Is there any way to change this so the new folder is created on the memory card?
I dont think i had this issue before it went in for repair.
Cheers.

I have a T- mobile TP 2 on the stock 6.5 rom. I have added the 4 extra camera modes here..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=523735 and the 7mp panoramic mode here ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467616. When I take a picture saving it to storage card it doesnt save anywhere... I dont have a problem saving them to the phone memory. I have searched around quite a bit and could not come up with anything. Any ideas or fixes would be appreciated. I have tried to search the card by taking it out of the phone and viewing it with the card reader but still no luck anywhere.
Go into the camera > hit the tab at the lower right of the screen (in landscape) > go into the settings (gear symbol) > Advanced > page 2 > Storage: Storage Card or Main Memory.
I have mine set for Storage Card. My pictures save in a folder "DCIM" that was created when I took my first picture using this phone.
Sum, I have done that... the dcim folder is created but empty from my phone. When i put it into my card reader on the PC and open the dcim folder IT is flooded with folders and files All in some type of symbol language... Some of the create date are like feb 2 2064 for example... they arre all sparadic some even say they are built before like 1960 the Dcim folder itself claims to be like 126 gb in itself.. To delete the folder the string name is to big to delete it. to rename it its not allowed to be renamed.. Im lost!
It sounds like it is saving them there but the data is all corrupted. I had a card that did that and I would have to make a new folder called dcim1 then tell it to same to that then delete old dcim and then rename the dcim1 to dcim.
You may have to copy all the stuff off the card to a pc then format card again and reload back to card except DCIM.
Hi guys, just wondering what your 'workflow' is like when backing the SD card contents to the PC. Do you guys just literally copy and paste all files and create a new folder each time or do you use a program to keep the backup folder in sync with what is on the SD card?
I use Beyond Compare3 - compares 2 folders and shows the differences. Lets you only copy the files that are missing or have been updated/deleted. Saves a whole lot of time!
That program looks quite useful. Will def have a look at that. Thanks! Need something to help maintain backups. Dont really want 10s of copies of the same file in different folders hogging hd space.
Hello guys,
I have a bigger problem I hope you can help me with...
My internal storage is somehow messed up. This has effects on MTP and on some apps like the stock camera.
When accessing my internal storage by MTP from PC, only a few folders and files are visible. In contrast, if I list the content of "/mnt/sdcard" or "/storage/sdcard0" they show all my files and folders as one would expect. Also, files visible on the PC are inside this path and even when i copy a file from the PC, it is placed here.
The more serious problem is, that some apps are not able to find their files and folders inside die storage anymore. As an example, the camera app asks me to insert a sd card before taking a picture and Winamp doesn't find my music anymore.
What i tried so far:
Copying files from and to storage with Dropsync, FolderSync and ES Explorer: works without problems
I checked the rights of the files with the terminal: nothing interesting there
I cleared my whole storage (thanks to Unlock procedure) and flashed a new Custom ROM
I drank a lot of coffee because it got late
Nothing worked.
Please help, Thanks!
So thats me again.
I finally found the correct allready existing post. In this thread user dlzinc describes that one has to fix the permissions for /data/media. Good to know that i was right with permissions, bad that i didn't go through with it in the first place.

I used the settings in my Note 2 to format my 32GB microsd card. when i view it in windows explorer, the only folder that has been created is the LOST.DIR. should it be creating a folder structure?
on my BlackBerry, whenever my card was formatted, the device would create the folder structure for music, videos, pictures, etc. I've already removed and reinserted the microsd card. Am I missing something?
you're missing the question and answer section
Thanks, I just checked there but still couldn't find my answer. Can't see a way to delete this thread, only edit, so if anyone is able to help out, it'd be appreciated.

Test, take some pictures and store to sd card (change options in camera app) to see if it creates it then

Thanks....that worked for the camera! I tried launching the music player and video player, but no other folders are created.
Problems is, is that I have media to restore to the card but not sure if i should create the folders manually or what.
The reson i formatted it, is cause i took it straight from my Z10 to my Note 2 and wanted to clean up the folder structure. remove data, format, restore into new android folder structure. but didn't really work out
I decided to upgrade to Lollipop after holding out for awhile.... before I did though, as I knew I was going to run an RUU so I wouldn't have any problems with the OTA, I copied everything in my "storage" (all folders) to my windows laptop desktop via USB.
After upgrading, I copied it all back, making sure not to over-write anything.
What is strange is when I copied all my folders to my laptop initially, I didn't see a Download folder... which I expected to see. But after looking through the folders I had copied, I saw a folder called storage, and in that folder another called emulated, and then another called "0". In that folder I finally saw my Download folder.
I didn't think much of this at the time, however, when I look at storage from Root Explorer, I note there is a new Download folder at the "root" level of storage, but the storage/emulated/0 path is still there as well.... and following it takes me to my old Download folder....
So...to get back my original folders and contents before I upgraded to Lollipop, I have to copy over every folder in this path up 3 levels. i.e., from /storage/emulated/0/storage/emulated to /storage/emulated.
What is going on? Why is there an "0" and a "legacy" if I go up one level from /storage/emulated/??? Why did my old Download folder end up where it did?
I had this exact same thing in my mind.
Why is there such a folder ?
My phone storage was almost full and I found out this folder is taking up whole space.
I cut the storage folder and pasted it into memory card
now all my downloads go to memory card (mmc:storage/emulated/0)
+1
I have also this folder that takes a lot of internal memory space.
I experiment one thing:
I have 1 game that takes 2Gb of data and I have moved it to sdcard memory (using Android-M feature : move app from internal to sdcard )
I saw in this directory (emulated/0/ ) the 2Gb of this game. ????? So, I tryed to copy/paste this data to sdcard, in order to free internal memory space. But I loose the game's configuration.
I was thinking that moving app from internal to scard, the data of the app also move, isn't it ?
I need help to understand that ...
