I was hoping that someone here has encountered this problem and got it working, but I cannot get this app to connect. I believe it is based on OpenVPN. I have the Verizon HTC One, S-Off, running Bonestock v1.0f. I didn't try it on the stock ROM before flashing, so I do not know if it was working prior. If a logcat is needed, I can provide. Thank you!
VPN by Private Internet Access
I cannot post an outside link, but the app is in the Google Play store.
Nevermind. It was because I did not install the VPN client through the AROMA installer. Oops!

What is the trick to getting the WiFi hotspot to work after being Rooted? I grabbed the WiFi tether file and installed. The phone can be seen by my laptop but the laptop cannot connect. I initially tried it with WEP enabled and it didn't work so I did it as an Open network and still no success.
I'm also having trouble connecting my EVO to connect to my company VPN. We use WPA2 Enterprise which the factory VPN client does not natively support. I tried installing OpenVPN but have been unsuccessful with that. Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!
bump...bump...
How about... Some details.
ROM?
Kernel?
Software versions?
Have you tried other ROMs?
Have you tried other kernels?
Have you tried other tethering apps?
I had the exact same issue....all you have to do is go to the website and download version 8 works like a charm

Do you have media control enabled? If so, when you connect to your hotspot you need to approve your client via your EVO.

I have an Evo hardware version 004, that I set S-OFF using zikronix's "Like A Boss Edition" tutorial. After that I flashed xxbabiboi228xx's rooted 3.30.651.3 stock ROM (odex version.) Finally, I installed Wireless Tether 2.0.5-RC1.
The problem I am having is that Wireless Tether successfully gains root privileges, starts, the resulting Wi-Fi network can be connected to, and the client successfully obtains an IP address, but there is no Internet connectivity. The phone is on a 3G network.
Does anyone have information that might help me fix this problem?
Thanks!

with the client device connected start a download on the phone, or even browse around google maps to keep an active connection, while doing that try and access the web on the client continually. once the client connects you should be good to stop the active use on the phone.
if that doesnt work try pre8 and the same as above

No dice, same issue. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Try flashing Myn's RLS4 and just using the sprint hotspot app you shouldn't have any problems.

Try it again today. I got a network error on the Market last night and now it is working fine. If you are still getting an error try going into Titanium and clear data for Google Framework Services and Gmail.
I'm currently using Stockorama ROM version 2(4.1.2) on my T-Mobile GS3. However, the VPN Service seems not working. The native client for PPTP and IPsec works fine, but any kind of app I download for OpenVPN does not work at all. I'm currently using VPN service by Private Internet Access, and it used to work fine on stock ROM, but after installing Stockorama it stopped working. I checked to see if TUN was present with TUN.ko, and it is there.
I tried out 3 apps. OpenVPN connect, OpenVPN for Android, and VPN for Private Internet Access.
All three fails to work. OpenVPN connect, and OpenVPN for Android both claims that this version of Android does not support, and PIA app just don't respond at all.
Is there a way to fix this? Please help.
The rom may have something removed that is required.
Dif you search the rom thread for similar problems?

I searched the rom thread to see if there was any VPN related issues, but I found none. However, I managed to fix it. Turns out, the Samsung's VPN Client app was required to have VPN Service API activated. On my previous install, I chose not to install that app when I was installing the rom with Aroma installer. However, when I tried reinstall with that app, few other VPN apps started working again(PIA, OpenVPN for Android). The 'OpenVPN Connect' still did not work saying that I need to install certification, but anyways I got the ones I need to work.
Thanks for the reply!
I dirty flashed Stockorama 2 and selected VPN Client from Samsung during install config and it works now. Thanks :good:
I have tried to find an answer, but have been unable to. I rooted my sprint LG G3 with stump root. Got the Super User, Xposed, g3tweaksbox, adblock, titanium backup. All was wonderful and have had great joy with it all. Then i downloaded a wifi tether - this one did say it was incompatible with my device, but had a direct link for rooted phones...so i thought it would be ok. maybe not. I then tried to download ssh tunnel...but it never downloaded. It was after that that I started having wifi problems. I uninstalled the wifi tether app. I didn't get on my phone again until i got to work the next morning. right off when my phone tried to pick up their wifi, i got connection errors (tunnel connect failed, then later proxy error) Then i got an alert that ssh tunnel failed to download. I turn off wifi, and everything is great. BUT, now i cannot download anything from Play store. Also, i went back to the app ssh tunnel on Play and it says it is installed. but it is not. When i got back home, i turned wifi back on to check it - i just keep getting an authentication error. So I don't kow what the heck i did, but if any has any ideas to help.....please, Help! also,, I did not flash any rom or anything.
