Thanks. I did it. But when I ckeck settings there is same setings "GSM/WCDMA (auto connect). How do I know that the phone has been turned on LTE (ie except using the application that you suggested)?
you will see "4G" in the notification bar (when you will be under the LTE network coverage)
The option will not show if your sim card / carrier / phone subscription does not have 4G enabled.
To Whosat: thank you for your information
addition: this option is not shown in settings if the mobile operator is not the "whitelist", special file in the system named lteon_netlist.xml. This file is a part of CSC, placed here: /system/csc/common/system/etc
for example, russian mobile operator MTS is not in the list, so I had the same problem. To make changes to system files you need root access. Or you can use mentioned above by me method. It enables LTE but not showing option in the settings.
you can find detailed explanation here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42936319&postcount=65

Just to clarify; so if my operator doesn't have 4G yet, the option will not show in menu???
Inserting SIM from 4G operator (vodafone) will enable the LTE option?

Well... Have to disagree with you.
Unlocked (SIM lock) my phone, restarted and LTE showed up.
That brings the conclusion : SIM locked ROM(s) have certain function disabled.
I was confused as flashed generic ROM (BTU and DBT) and still no LTE. After SIM unlock and restart LTE shows in option...

Your phone must be SIM unlocked and probably you'll need to flash generic (unbranded) ROM.
Sent from my GT-I9305 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
No LTE/WCDMA/GSM mode
Sorry for bringing up this old thread, but my problem is exactly the same.

What exactly does this mean - SIM unlock?
So far I'm trying to follow instruction described here, but I'm not sure if the file persist.radio.lteon exists there. Having trouble with rooting my phone, in order to get access to that file, but I can do it I think.
Maybe, someone can add something here!
About my case: SIM is LTE ready (tested in Huawei G6, in the network of my current carrier, LTE on 1800, mode can be selected and works fine), also smartphone is working in LTE in general - used it with other SIM in Vodafone (CZ) and Omnitel (LT), Network Mode kindly allowed to choose LTE/WCDMA/GSM mode. In my current (home) carrier it's simply not there, just WCDMA/GSM.
Solved
So I made root like here, and then did that exactly, except I used other similar app, granting it root access via supersu. Thanks!

Hi there, Could someone help me achieve to enable only the use of 2g or 3g networks on my LG g3 D850 ? I need this in order to avoid always using LTE....
My Phone info:
Model: Lg G3 D850
Carrier: AT&T
OS Version: Lollipop 5.0.1
Rooted: Yes.
Custom Rom: Yes but based on official AT&T latest OTA.
Note: I tried to post this in the development area but XDA won't let me. I have read several threats addressing this issue but they all end up in using Xposed and an application and that only works on Kit kat version... I need the solution for Lollipop so I can take the advantages of this version.

I kept reading and in this threat (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/how-to-xposed-running-properly-stock-t3030261) They show you how to enable xposed in LG G3 Lollipop. Be warned though this is a Beta version and you will have to disable Quickcover and Lg Weather App in order for it to run, if you dont do that Xposed will crash and will make your phone unusable it will boot and everything but it will have a pop up window indicating that something went wrong and it wont go away.
After you manage to enable Xposedon Lollipop install the APP intelli3g in the Play store and Give permission to it in Xposed.
This is for Sprint Not AT&T

Hey thank you for your post.. as stated in the original post this is needed for the AT&T variant. The Sprint variant has options that the AT&T doesn't. I don't have that option available AT&T managed to take it out. It's not that easy. The only way to this is following the steps I previously stated.

Look what I found!!!
If you are rooted you can do this easily. You just need to edit the build prop file.
1. Download buildprop editor from the play store
2.Then just change one line, ro.build.target_operator from "ATT" to "OPEN".
3.Reboot.
This will change the phone into thinking it's not ATT branded and will put the "Network Mode" menu back to choose under "Mobile Networks" in settings.
Works perfectly. FYI the AT&T signal bars will change to the generic version but it's a small tradeoff to get that menu back and enjoy better battery life. Enjoy!

I had to use another build prop editor since that one did manage to apply the change BUT after I restarted the phone the property would go back to it original value. So i used ES File Explorer to do it. Just needed to give root access in the app settings and enable the system Write permission.

Screen shot
Currently Freedom(Wind) Mobile enabled LTE bands in Ottawa Ontario and I know this phone would work if I could only enable LTE.
I tried to put a TELUS ROM and it the LTE option was available however that ROM was 5.1 and I need 6.0 to use Android AUTO etc.
That ROM would not FOTA - some errors were given I used LG Bridge and the upgrade put back 6.0 from Freedom mobile - go figure.
I could not find a Telus 6.0 ROM for LG G4 H812
Any other solutions to enable the LTE in the menu? I tried with a old Sony Xperia Z3 from Freedom Mobile (Wind) and they had the decency of not disabling LTE in the network band selection. It worked fine with LTE.
And I have also tried the *#LGMENU#*812# - and when I choose there the RTE mode for LTE only to force it to LTE it doesn't find the network; I have also selected LTE Band 4 but I tried others.
ANY IDEAS would be appreciated I am running thin on what to try next?!

In settings > Mobile data - click on the 3 vertical dots on the right side of the upper bar > Mobile networks > Network mode - is your preferred network mode selected for GSM/HSPA/LTE auto? If not select it. Also, your Network operator should be selected in Network operators.
As far as trying a Telus 6.0 kdz, use the following link: https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-h812-firmwares/
Scroll down to near the bottom of the page and select from the kdz table the bottom one: i.e., TLS - H81220z_00_0327.kdz
Install with LGUP-NEW from this link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/lgup-install-kdz-mm-lp-t3249803 and read the OP post fully as well as some of the other posts in that thread to get an idea on how to use it.
Addendum:
Freedom Mobile does not list the LG G4 as being one of the phones that is LTE ready. I suspect that LTE is disabled in their current firmware version - you may want to check with them and find out if an updated firmware version is planned to include LTE for the LG G4 - it will be interesting to see if using the Telus 6.0 kdz actually provides you with LTE connectivity - possible it may not, even if it is enabled in the Telus kdz menu. Check with the LTE Discovery app, free on Play Store.
Addendum 2:
As I suspected - According to this: https://apn-canada.gishan.net/settings/933_22_freedom_mobile_apn_settings_for_lg_g4.php
LTE (4G) bands are not available for the LG G4 on Freedom Mobile, only 3G.
Thanks, you are right with the Telus firmware location I independently found the same firmware.
This is how I got LTE working:
- get the 6.0 firmware from here https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-h812-firmwares/#firmwaresList
- get the LGUP flash tool https://lg-roms.com/official-firmware/LG G4-LGH812/V10F/CANADA
I flashed H81220z_00_0327.kdzTELUS on my G4 H812 from Freedom mobile.
I had to to wipe the phone - PWR + DOWN + QUiCK release of PWR after 1 sec (otherwise it gets stuck in the boot screen)
I got LTE Internet working only after I manually put the Freedom Mobile APNs in (it was expected).

Deprecated - please see my other guide for a better method: Enabling VoLTE/VoWiFi v2
Preface
Thanks to some help from this amazing community I have found the steps required to enable VoLTE and/or VoWiFi. For me both work, but others have reported differently - but the most likely outcome is that you will only have VoLTE working; you may have to do some experimentation to get both.
Prerequsities
* You must have root. There are several threads on how to do that, so look those up if you need help.
Downloads
* QPST
* Qualcomm USB drivers
* AsusVoLTE app
* MBNs (optional)
Step 1
First of all you will need to install both QPST and the Qualcomm USB drivers from the links above. It's important that you install exactly those ones, or it may not work. Once you've done that, launch PDC.exe in the bin folder of the QPST install (usually C:\Program Files\Qualcomm\QPST\bin\PDC.exe).
Step 2
Download and install the AsusVoLTE app from above and launch it. The app is very simple, and only has two buttons - press Enable PDC and you should hear/see a new device installing. Once that's done, you should see a new device under the Device dropdown in Advanced PDC Tool called something like Qualcomm ... 9091. Select it and you should see some things pop up in the box below - starting with HW_DEFAULT and SW_DEFAULT and probably also ROW_v1. If you only see those you will need to load external ones from the MBNs zip above. Simply press the Load button and select the mbn you want. Keep in mind that you will only be able to load MBNs from the zip above, ones from another device will *not* work.
Step 3
Now comes the tricky part; we have to find a profile that actually works on your carrier. For me the VivoVoWiFi_v5 profile enables both VoLTE and VoWiFi, but this may or may not work for you. Most of them at the very least enabled VoLTE for me.
To actually activate a profile you have to right-click on it, select SetSelectedConfig and Sub0, then repeat it but press Sub1 instead. After you've done that Sub0 and Sub1 for that profile should have changed to Pending, so simply highlight it again and press the Activate button at the bottom of the screen. This should change Sub0 and Sub1 to say Active and it should also be moved to the top of the list just below HW_DEFAULT and SW_DEFAULT.
To check if it works you have to either reboot, or you can do the far simpler thing and press Reset Connection in the AsusVoLTE app. This will disable the mobile connection for a few seconds but once it's back on you should hopefully see either VoLTE or VoWiFi in the status bar. If not, you will have to try another profile! It can be quite time consuming finding one that works for you, but if you get VoLTE on at least one of them there's a chance one of them will also enable VoWiFi.
Recommended profiles
Below I will compile a list of carriers and the profile that works best for them.
Carrier - Profile - Function
AT&T - VivoVoWiFi_v5 - VoLTE
H3G SE - VivoVoWiFi_v5 - VoLTE & VoWiFi
Hot Mobile Israel - NLVFVoWiFi_v1 - VoLTE & VoWiFi
Orange Romania - VivoVoWiFi_v5 - VoLTE
Source code:
AsusVoLTE - Github
Let me know if this works for you, or if you have any questions.

Waiting for someone in the US to confirm this works before pulling the trigger on this phone
Hi I'm from Mumbai, India...for me VoLTE working perfectly. I just want to enable VoWIFI... But my device is not rooted yet.
Let's wait for sometime to see if VoWIFI is working without rooting or not as presently not even a single custom ROM available for ROG 2 so i don't have any reasons to root device.
Still a huge thanks for your all efforts and help what you did for our beast ROG 2...

None of the signed MBNs included with the phone work for T-Mobile, unfortunately. We can't load unsigned ones from other devices.
I believe this has worked on AT&T!

I used the same one he mentioned. The VivoVoWiFi_v5 profile. Thats the first one I tried and it worked right away. Tested a call to another cell I have that I know has VoLTE and it sounds so much better on ROG Phone 2 now, so I can confirm this is working on AT&T 100%
EDIT: To also add, this is the ROG Phone 2 128 GB Tencent Edition as well.

Indeed. I will aim to compile a list in the first post with the recommended profile for each carrier - so it would help if you all could let me know what carrier you are on and what profile you're using!
Someone else with T-Mobile US should try it just to confirm that it doesn't work.

It might be worthwhile to try other profiles to see if you can get VoWiFi as well.

I believe your findings would work with the ZenFone 6. You should head over to their forum and let them have a go. It might even work with the original ROG Phone.
First of all, @HomerSp please create a donation option, I would appreciate the chance to buy you a beer for all the hard work you've done.
Carrier - Hot Mobile Israel, profile - KDDIVOWIFI_V4, function - volte and vowifi, UT doesn't work.
What is UT? Now I can't go into the carrier settings inside the dialer it gives me an error message so I can't cancel call waiting and hide my number for outgoing calls, no big deal for me I will try more profiles tomorrow.

Tried a few other profiles, mostly ones with "VoWIFI" in their name. A lot of these worked for AT&T for VOLTE. Only a few gave me the Video Calling in IMS. The closet I could get was "testSIMViWifi_v4" profile gave me everything BUT VoWifi.
Made sure VoWIFI was enabled in the settings as well. Any ideas?

I can only guess that none of the profiles have VoWiFi configs for AT&T. It's better than nothing I suppose.
I have tmo and project FI. Will test and report
Hi all tried to do this but stuck in step 2 when i select enable PDC on the App nothing happens i have PDC.exe open and have installed the required files but nothing shows up under devices

Flash the Magisk zip file after you flash a full firmware zip.
I'm not sure if my next question belongs in this thread. But since my ROG Phone 2 is currently rooted with an unlocked bootloader. Is there a way to retain this without having to flash the RAW FW and relock the bootloader?
Is there a reason I cant re-flash the stock boot.img and then use fastboot to relock the bootloader?
As a test, I reflashed the latest RAW firmware and relocked the bootloader. And as I expected VOLTE was not enabled again. However, after re-rooting and using PDC, I saw that the profile I used to enable VOLTE was still Active. Would all I need to do is reflash the RAW FW then use ADB to enable the settings in the menu?
any way to open serial without root?
This is a quick guide on how to enable VoLTE and VoWIFI on every OnePlus 8 or 8 Pro device.
This method involves downgrading the OnePlus LogKit APK to the OnePlus 7 version.
I recommend you to backup the existing LogKit APK using ADB on a
Or download an APK extractor from the Play Store, i personally recommend: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ext.ui&hl=nl
After you extracted the original LogKit you need to download the old LogKit which you can find as an attachment in the thread.
Install the downloaded LogKit APK and follow the steps:
1. Open the Dialer app on the device.
2. dial *#800# and LogKit will open up.
3. Scroll all the way down and click on Function Switch (this is missing from the stock OnePlus 8 LogKit APK).
4. Select VoLTE and when prompted to reboot, press cancel.
5. Select VoWifi and when prompted to reboot press OK.
6. Your device will now reboot and you should have VoLTE & VoWifi enabled.
7. Reinstall the backup from the LogKit apk (VoLTE & VoWifi should still be enabled when you reinstall the backed up LogKit apk).
The above has been tested to work in The Netherlands.
If you have followed the steps, please let me know what your results are!

Update:
For people experiencing problems with receiving calls when having 2 sim cards installed. The above steps seem to fix this issue.
Sweet! Thanks. Finally makes using this phone on Verizon complete.
Hello LennARTpas,
Can I know which network you're on in The Netherlands? I've tried this but it is not working with KPN as of right now.
I'm on AT&T in the US. I had VoLTE and VoWIFI working on my Note 8, so I know I had it provisioned on my line before. With this LogKit I was able to enable the VoWIFI switch. After reboot I enabled the feature, disabled data, and made a call successfully.
I'm not 100% sure if this is a successful test but just the fact that the VoWIFI option is visible in SIM & Network menu and I can toggle it on makes me think it's working. Is there a way to test this for sure? I can't test without a SIM and I can't make a call with Airplane Mode on, so is there a way to know for sure the call is going over WiFi?
Thanks for sharing this info, I had rather curious finding here on Vodafone Germany: on 10.5.8 I only get VoLTE when the SIM is in SIM2 in the tray, not when in SIM1 ! This is repeatable...

I've tested this by setting the prefered call method to WiFi and then make a call to someone.
The following text will show up when calling: Calling via Wi-Fi call Tele2 NL.
Where Tele2 NL is my provider.
i've added a screenshot for you

My dialer only says "Calling..." it does not say the portion where it says "via Wi-Fi call Tele2 AT&T" or the like. I also do not have the Record button at the bottom. Are you using a dialer other than the one which comes with the stock ROM.

Can't really say why wifi calling isn't working for you
I'm using the stock dialer. i've used jOnePlus Tools to enable the record option on the dialer.

Can confirm. Verizon is still a no go.
Crap I got excited this would work on Verizon, I was about to purchase again.
Doesn't work with visible (Verizon pre paid mvno). Once you switch the wifi calling toggle in the network settings and leave the screen, it unchecks itself.
Can anyone confirm working VoLTE and WiFi calling on T-Mobile with the IN2015 variant?
Does anyone have an apk backup of the original tool?

Thank you. Sometimes when I'm excited to try something I get inpatient and skip steps. Did you have a backup of the original OP 8 pro apk? I did not backup before installing the OP7 one.
boys, u need to do the same stuff as with 7 pro, use the pdc to change the profiles , here's the link, https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/help/force-enable-volte-vowifi-t3934227
basically this thread is just a copy and paste from 7 pro, but only a part of it, enabling just the switches aint gonna work

Anyone on Verizon try this yet? Normally I would have done it by now, but I'm having a busy Monday, and actually have to do some work. I probably won't have time to "work" on my phone until after lunch.
