Hi all,
Little bit new here but i am stuck with my sxs.
I had a cm rom running on my phone, i wanted to upgrade it to 9.1 with the intern cm updates of cm. ( no idea which one i had before, something with 4.1.2). the idea behind is becuz i knew 9.1 was a steady rom.
but now my phone wont pass the kernel and if i enter recovery it just freezes.
now i thought i go install a new standard tft with flashtool but i got a error, no idea what it means, maybe you guys can help me out.
(flashtool error. installing : LT26i_6.2.B.1.96_World.tft )

Not sdk drivers.. Just install PC Companion.. Your drivers will be automatically installed.. And i see your mistake.. Just don't let go of vol up button until flashing starts.. U can notice the progress when % increases.. Until that occurs in your flashtool, don't let go of vol up button.. Hold it..

plug in phone when holding volume down, and hold it
green led appears.

go to my computer / flashtool and in there are drivers to install, make sure you have flash, fastboot and necessary Xperia drivers all installed

Did ICS flash successfully? If it didn't then you haven't installed drivers properly.. If only JB isn't flashing properly then its the problem with the file.. try reinstalling flashtool.. uninstall the old one.. reinstall.. reboot your pc.. start fresh.. change usb port and see once..
are you?

how can i wipe without selecting a tft, i must select it and check the wipe boxes.
proberly i do something wrong but i don't know what.
the flashtool drivers are installed with all the sony xperia s , fastboot and flashmode , pc companion is installed.
EDIT: the strange part is... i can flash LT26i_6.1.A.2.55_SG_Generic_(1257-6921).tft with flashtool, with no error.
but i can't flash LT26i_6.1.A.2.45_GENERIC NL.tft or LT26i_6.2.B.1.96_World.tft.
and if i flash the 1st one, after its done my phone just remains the same , it shows the custom kernel, its not a sony kernel. its from my previous rom.

nope, it stops everytime its processing kernel.sin
i think something is wrong with windows 8 and drivers? but they are all installed.
flashtool drivers -> select all 3 the sxs drivers + fastboot and flashmode. pc companion is installed.
but sometimes i do get the error that pc ( neither pc companion) does not recognize phone.
btw do i have to connect phone when i install flashtool drivers? become 2 out of the 5 wont install becuuse there is no device connected that can be updated says the wizard
EDIT: in windows 7 i get all drivers of flashtool installed succesfully, but the same errors always appears.

Hey buddies,
I have a big issue:
My Xperia S is rooted, I did the bootloader unlock with sucess, and, when I flashed the boot.img inside the FXP149 tapioca (I had sucess by ADB), after ask to "fastboot reboot' my device died :/
It can't be recognized anywhere (USB-PC, wall charger, vol up + usb but it doesn't enter in fastboot mode), it doesn't turn on anymore.. When I hold "power button + vol up + vol down + camera button it's vibrate, but nothing happened in display. I had just this feedback.
Any ideas?
Thank you!
Your phone is not dead bubby you can relax, you have to hard reset your phone by hold down button [ power + vol up ] long enough till the phone vibrant 3 times, after that release buttons and press and hold power button for phone to switch on.

AGAIN and no matter what the urgency, trust me I wish to help people but when people do it by breaking and paying no heed to the rules, it is simply irksome. Thread reported and to the OP, your questions in the Q&A section, not the dev thread.

Try this, as described above connect the phone in flashmode, [ vol down while connecting to PC via USB cable ] LED will turn green, open your flashtool then flash a new software firmware in ftf" format,
Sent from my Xperia S using xda premium
If you downloaded and flashed the boot.img above using fastboot (that's what I presume), a process which shows a Blue LED, then just download any kernel from here (there's lots of them marked kernel so take your pick) and flash it in the same way using the fastboot flash boot xxxx.img command from your fastboot folder. If not, please explain the step-by-step process and the name all the tools you used so we could guide you to fixing your phone.

I did exactly what you said! I flashed a boot.img from wrong version (CM10 Tapioca instead of Nozomi), so, I guess that this is the mistake to this issue that I having now.
I just don't know the right kernel that I need to flash now to fix this.
Just download stock ics rom and flash it with flashtool after resetting (power+vol up until vibrate 3 times) the phone.
Hey buddies,
I flashed a stock kernel and it´s alive again!
Thank you for support me!!!

Question [Q] Xperia Play Fastboot Not working any answer?Help Please:)
To boot to fastboot your phone must be turned off. Press and hold Menu button, plug in USB cable to your phone and plug the cable to the PC.
If your LED turns blue you can release Menu button - you are in fastboot.
(To get to flash mode it's the same procedure, but you hold Back button and LED turns green.)
So, boot to fastboot.
In Flashtool click thunder icon and choose Fastboot mode:
Now click 'Select kernel to Flash' and locate your kernel which you should put in firmware folder of flashtool.:good:
The second part of your log you was connected in flash mode (Green light) not fastboot mode (Blue light)

Sorry I posted wrong button to press yes it's search button for fastboot on Playare you pressing and holding the search button don't just press it! If it is not going into fastboot by holding search button are you sure your bootloader is unlocked?I would suggest installing fastboot drivers again but this would not affect booting from the phone into fastboot mode which is your main problem!
---------- Post added at 08:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:56 PM ----------
Try this go to flashtool /drivers folder press flashtool-drivers exe to install tick drivers for your phone but also tick drivers for flashtool and fastboot they are at the end of the list try that because sometimes people forget to install them:good:

Connect your phone in fastboot mode. Push the Menu button and connecte the usb cable maintaining the menu button. And the led should turn blue. And here you go, fastboot mode flash.

Unbricking cannot be done in fastboot mode.
To OP: redownload the file, seems like the FTF is corrupted.
Sent from LT18i with custom firmware by myself.
Download the whole firmware, connect your device on flashmode, by keeping on pressed the back button and connect it, then flash the .ftf file.

What was happened is: I left the phone (Arc S LT18i) and friend of mine tried to flash with ftf files (because yesterday we stuck with SONY LOG) BUT somehow he flashed "mk16i_4.1.B.0.431_ready to root" and now device is shown is EXPERIA PRO (mk16i) .....
we can't flash any other ftf files e.g. "LT18i_4.1.B.0.587_(1254-2184))" or "lt18i_4.1.B.0.431_ready to root" - phone gets into flashmode but if we try to flash it shows ERROR and stops flushing:

Is it a problem with flashtool itself?...
Got lost really...
I think that you've installed adb drivers only for arc/s, now that you've flashed Xperia pro firmware, so you need to install drivers for that and try again and report back.

Did you tried every advice that other users in here gave you? That one with the kernel flashing and then ROM flashing it's actually a good idea.

Open Flashtool, press the lightning button, choose fastboot. Now connect the phone while pressing volume up.
Afterall, if your phone is still dead with the way given above, try to repair it with Sony Update Service (not PC Copanion)
Note that it will wipe your data (internal storage will not be wipe)
if u really wanna keep your data, maybe u can backup with update service
Hi, I have Sony Xperia Arc S LT18l.
Earlier I decided to update to 4.1.b.0.587. I got a picture of an open box with an arrow and 4 dots underneath. Then the screen went blank, so I waited for about 30 minutes and nothing changed. Now it won't start, only response I'm getting from it is if I hold power button and back button down at the same time when it is not connected to a computer the LED will blink green and the phone will vibrate and go black. If I hold the power button and back button down when connected to the computer the LED turns green and stays green. The computer says device driver unsuccessfully installed, when I click on that a screen will pop up saying my device driver's name is S1Boot Download.
What should I do?
I see, you made a over-the-air upgrade, which is ROM update directly from the phone, either over WiFi or 3G.
Did you have unlocked bootloader? Because if yes, then that is the cause for that issue. To fix this, check the tutorial in my signature on how to unbrick your phone.

Well that is all correct except that I'm not sure whether my bootloader was locked or unlocked, I've had it for about 2 weeks and never fiddled around with bootloader. Is it possible it came unlocked?

Did you buy it as a new one or second-hand?

New one. Should also mention that when I plug it into my computer it pops up as S1Boot Download.

Currently, I can only think of one solution: Download Flashtool, download a stock firmware package (aka .FTF file). As you are using Android ICS 4.0.4, then you might want to search for 4.1.B.0.587 or 4.1.B.0.431 build versions.
Checked my files, I found 4.1.B.0.587 for LT18i: http://www.mediafire.com/download/rhr59r4o6oarnfx/LT18i_4.1.B.0.587_(1254-2184).7z
You will need 7-Zip to extract the FTF from that. Afterwards, install Flashtool, then look into Flashtool folder (by default C:\Flashtool), install drivers (Flashmode drivers). Further on, open up Flashtool, click the lightning button, Flashmode, browse to the FTF file, then make sure to untick "Wipe data", "Wipe cache", "Wipe apps log". By that, you will keep your personal data in your phone and they won't get lost.
If you have any questions, just ask. Once you are finished, let me know of the results.

Ok an update
I tried what you said above again, this time ticking the TA. Everything went smoothly, it said flashing was finished and for me to unplug and start my
phone. The phone vibrates after holding just the power button down for about 2 seconds but remains blank...
Final update
The phone is back to working. I flashed the .ftf in unbrickxperia2011.zip and then flashed 4.1.b.0.431 firmware. Phone is back to normal with no lost data. Thank you very much for your help.
