I have do something reading online, saying that even the note 3 is unlocked. There is no way that i can use my phone oversea (by using the oversea SIM card). Does anyone has more information about this??
If im spending $700 on a phone, it better works all over the world.
As long as you activate it first with a simcard from the region you bought it it will work.

I need to know if the 3 version is sim locked or not, id heard it wasn't so I was planning on getting one and putting my o2 sim in, thanks for any help.
Version from 3 is not locked. I bought one and use it with Russian SIM card.
I bought phone with PAYG.
They have confimation of this in their twitter. You can try to find.
I purchased from a 3 shop yesterday and can confirm that is unlocked. I'm successfully using my T-Mobile contract SIM from my lost/stolen Galaxy S2
As above all current stock at Three is Sim Free , same with the Nokia Lumia 800.
I noticed that the price of the note 2 in Germany is cheaper, than in the UK.
Just wondering if there is any downside about buying one from Germany?
I assume I'll be able to get the phone configured into English.
Would I be able to flash UK firmware on to it, or wouldn't it matter?
I'd only get the n7100 as I don't care about lte just yet.
thanks.
Yes of course the european version of the phone is the same, you will just have to chose English when you first turn on the phone.

It might be cheaper, but you might need to pay import tax when it arrives, unless you're planning a physical visit.
Beamed from Jupiter on my Galaxy Note II
I'm looking into getting one of these & have a very good priced Sim Only deal with O2.
Anyone know where I can get the 4G LTE Version (model N7105) & does it come unlocked to all Networks (Preferably in Grey) ?
I'm thinking of going this route so I can see how the whole 4G situation works out in the UK & it would mean I could later get a Sim Only 4g deal.
No reponses ?
In the meantime, I have found that Orange UK sell the LTE version, so I could buy it there & then get it unlocked.
I would save your money until o2 have LTE enabled.... By then the note 3 (or 4) will be out.

O2 dont have LTE yet. Get a normal N7100 and save your money. The N7100 has better battery life than the N7105. I know because I had them both and Now settled with N7100. I bought mine from amazon but make sure when you buy from there it is directly amazon selling the phone not a third party seller.

Can't find it as PAYG on the site, is this in store only ?
If O2 has dc-hsdpa the n7105 will still get faster speeds than an n7100 even without 4g/lte, as the n7100 doesn't support dc-hsdpa whereas the n7105 does.

Anyone know for sure if the O2 Payg model is the LTE (7105) version ? I have done online chat with 2 different advisors, 1 says yes the other says no !
This is slightly cheaper than Orange & I wouldnt have to get it unlocked for my sim.

Coming from a THC One X I doubt it !
Plus with the LTE the resale value should be a bit better & I have the option of getting a 4g payg sim down the line

This is really wierd. Hope someone can help.
I bought an unlocked LG Optimus G E971 phone in Toronto, Canada this May. Inserting a Rogers and Fido SIM card was perfectly fine and working while I was in Toronto, Canada. No SIM network unlock PIN required.
In October, I travelled on vacation to Hong Kong with the same phone that I thought was unlocked. As always, I would buy a local SIM for my unlocked phone. To my surprised, it prompted for a SIM network unlock PIN. I went to a total of 3 carriers, including 3 Telecom, China Mobile and one other (cannot remember the name). All asked for a SIM unlock PIN.
Not believing what had happened, I went back to the shop in Toronto, Canada after returning home. Tried inserting Rogers, Fido, Bell and AT & T SIM card, all worked perfectly.
My question is, could this be a region lock? Like the Samsung Galaxy Note 3?
Anyone has similar experience to share?
It's a SIM/network lock, nothing more. You can purchase an unlock code for under $10 online. That's what I did.

I'd think that, too, but then all these Canadian SIM cards he listed wouldn't work... I know for a fact that Bell, Fido and Rogers phones (at least every single one I tried, and that's quite a few of them), when locked, don't let you use each other's cards. If each of those cards work without problem, I doubt the phone is simlocked... But anyway, it may be worth trying unlocking it - the code for any LG model (with few exceptions) is only $4 from freemyblackberry.com, so there's not much to lose. It's a fast and reliable service, I used it several times myself.
On some smartphones, you can use them with its sub carrier. So Rogers E971 may work with Fido SIM even though it's locked. Buy an unlock code and you'll be fine.
Its not the $4 unlocking fee that I am avoiding. How do I proof my phone has been unlocked successfully? As someone had said, Bell and Fido are different carriers in Canada. It won't allow using each others SIM cards, but I can use both right now. So do I need to wait and travel again to Asia before I can proof that my LG has been unlocked sucessfully? Frustrating.

I am sure E971 accept Rogers and Fido SIM card. I did not try Bell. But I unlocked my E971 by using Wind mobile SIM card. You could try Wind mobile.
One person told me that the North American version unlocked phone would not work in Asia (Hong Kong in my case). I verified my LG box and it's labelled LG Canada. That defeat the whole purpose of an unlocked phone for worldwide use. When you spend the extra effort to get a manufacture unlocked phone, you expected it to be unlocked worldwide. Got to write to LG Canada to see if that is their marketing strategy or it's a system bug.
All Asia and Europe cell phones are legitimately manufacture unlocked. Just not a believer in locked phones and their ripped off plans in North America.

Would this be only about LGs, or any phone? Can't comment on Asia, as I never had to travel there, but my Canadian Galaxy S2 (originally locked to Bell) worked perfectly in several European countries after unlocking. My LGOG works with North American and European SIM cards, but it's a Korean F180S, so that doesn't prove anything...

Amen to that! Side by side comparison of European and American (especially Canadian) cell phone service prices is nothing short of a shock to either party. It is as ridiculously cheap in Europe as it is outrageously expensive on this side of the pond.

I like this LG Optimus G E971, reasonably priced with all the great features. I owned Samsung Omina II (I8000) Windows 6.5, Motorola Ming A1200 and Motorola V300 before. All except V300, was manufacture unlocked and bought in Canada. All worked perfectly in North America and Asia with local SIMs. That is why this came as a surprise. If I had known this will be the NA unlocked version, I would plan differently. Such as get a $0 to 299 carrier locked phone and spend $4 to unlock it worldwide.
