[REQUEST] Themed Stock Messaging App

Would anybody be able to theme the stock messaging app so that it is black with ICS blue accents? Black message bubbles also just with the blue bubble outline and white text for both incoming and outgoing messages, think it would look nice

Bump, anyone? similar to this, screenshot from an LG Connect rom

You'll want to start with a de-odexed version of the messaging apk since that'll be easier to theme. If you can find one, upload it and I'll take a look at it and see what I can do

I mean just the stock messaging from the GS3, as I was helping my girlfriend out with her phone a couple days ago I just happened to see that screenshot to show what I meant a little better. What rom did you pull this from? I'm assuming this is from a jb 4.1.x rom.
I'm still running stock rooted atm, seeing as I'm getting 5-8hrs of on-screen time with the stock battery +4g on for 4.0.4 I see no point in changing haha... so gimme a link to where you pulled it from that way I can at least test it out before I start posting things that might not potentially work

I extracted that from my phone running FreeGS3 v2.0.0 based on LJ7 deodexed jellybean, yeah you need a link to the rom thread? And again thanks so much, take your time

I just downloaded the rom, installing it now actually. I had to redownload the android sdk again and a few other things. I'll look at the app as soon as I can and edit it.

To be honest I don't know much of anything sorry I can change around some things over in the morphology thread because of very clear and explicit directions, but I have no clue how to theme an app, hence this thread For the message counter I'd ask a themer or a dev

[MOD] LockRing Changer

This is not my creation or work up. Just sharing this with the permission of FaithCry.
Here is a link to his thread ​
Many of you know about this mod already many may not. I love it!!! I've tried it on about 5 different AOSP based roms from Liquid to CM and RootBox so all the bases pretty much. It basically replaces the lock with an icon of your choice into framework-red.apk/res/drawable-xhdpi with out all the hassle .
Click on the link to his thread to get to his website so you can downlaod the image of your choice to use

Install an app called zipthemer from the play store
HOW DO I INSTALL THIS???
- First, USE ZIPTHEMER
- download the file to /sdcard/Zipthemer
- go open Zipthemer
- BEFORE ADDING THEMES UPDATE EDIFY
-> hit menu
-> update edify
-> browse...
-> browse to your rom's zip and click on it
-> it will return to the previous menu and then hit configure
-> EDIFY IS NOW CONFIGURED
- then it +Theme and navigate to the folder with the ring
- then change the name of the output if you like
- then click "Build It" and then make a back up.
- reboot into recovery and flash
- reboot
- ?????
- PROFIT!​
Make sure you do not have a theme installed (put it to system) and do not have "Dark UI" enabled
Should see your new LockRing mod in place now. If not then make sure the above stuff are not there. I have not run into an issue yet changed about 4 icons.
Here is mine real quick with a little Google Theme

If anyone has any contributions to make please post them and we will try and get them and others added, this is just a nice way to give the phone a complete theme to your liking ANDROID BABY. The icon is 216x216 for our device XHDPI

So no one has any questions or comments or what their lock screen looks like now? That's great that no one is having any issues but prefer feedback lol, and ideas on some customs one to see if I can create something.

I appreciated it too when I found it. I want ideas to play with and try and get better with photo editing stuff to make custom ones. People either don't come to themes for aosp stuff or don't want to bother. Oh well lol.

You know what i've noticed?? Is when you change the theme in the theme chooser the lockring and the glowdots comes back to stock idk why, its weird im a check the original thread and see if they have a solution for it, does it happen to you?

Changing the theme will change those depeneding on the theme, themes contain themed apk such as phone.apk and framework-res.apk where your custom icons will be over ridden.

I'm not at all sure what you are talking about, I just went & enabled Halo in settings & nothing popped up asking to download & nothing about a zip. I also opened the halo app in the app drawer. So......not knowing, I hesitate to respond

Yeah, I just got that same thing when I opened the app for a second time. I just hit Ok & it went away, I mean, I'm not going to be on a rom that I already chose & then have an app suggest to me another rom, lol. That app probably made by pa team. Anyway, hit either one, ok or install pa. Your choice. I don't use that app at all anyway. I don't even use halo, nice feature but....

Hitting okay should get rid of it. Halo is originally a PA app.. I don't use Halo either, but I have tested that and it should be fine....

The pic really does me no justice. On my phone the GPS icon blinks continuously and the NAv icon is greyed out. I'm just jus sharing what i experienced. Great ROM it has everything I need with the exception of GPS(on my phone). I rely heavy on it for my line of work.

Hmmm...no reason why it shouldn't... Do u have any other mods flashed after this..? I had a user in the Sprint thread say it worked on viper but he had to reboot twice...

Sorry no go ...aosp uses a different png file system...I'm very familiar with aosp came from the world of nexus. So I do a lot of stuff compatible...but they are Zip Themer zip mods if u are interested and wanna check them out I can supply a link. From lockrings to softkeys and more...

The framework is...if I can think of a way to get it in I'll post a zip. But ... There would have to be some xml edits and or apk swaps...

It's not the theme it's the rom that has been altered so far from stock that for anything to work on it has to be made especially for it. I've used your theme on three roms without issues.

Thanks man...appreciate the 411. As long as the Rom keeps stockish png file folders then it will work. I prob will do a list of Roms its confirmed working on in OP... I'll def add Maximus HD :thumbup:

Statusbar shading works with insertcoin and nova launcher, even tho my dpi is set to 380.
Dock shading doesn't work.
But again im using nova and insane dpi settings.

I'm on IC 6.0_4 deodexed with sense installed but Google launcher picked.

This is a Red and Black theme I've been working on for the passed few weeks.
This will definitely work on Jedi Elite, it may or may not work on other roms. If it does work, just post a comment. Right now, the status bar handle says "Jedi Elite" If it works on your rom, I will make one that has that rom name instead.
What's been themed?

All in all there is a ton of stuff themed in here and if you find something that looks off just let me know and I'll get it fixed.
