App Storage Issues - HTC One X

Installed an update on my phone for Viper 4.0.1 and now I only have 600mb left for apps "other" is 6.0.4gb and apps i had installed so far are 515mb before they stopped. They won't install any more updates or anything as I have insufficient storage.6.54gb/6.76gb. Can you increase the 6.76gb at all? As its obviously the custom rom thats so damn large.. I wouldn't mind I don't have any games installed nor any large apps. I need the apps I do have on my phone for day to day use and bought this phone for its massive storage but its annoying I now only have around 600mb left for apps.. Is going back to older firmware the only way?

nm I fixed it, just a factory reset lowered it to 4.88gb used by "other" .

[Q] App updates eating my Internal Space

Hello guys, i am having a problem, last night my Adobe flash player automatically got updated, it was previously a system app which was done with titanium, after it got updated, i integrated it into the rom like before.
however i lost 3mb in the process i tried cleaning the dalvick catch and i used sd maid also to delete any dead apps but both did not find anything to clean.
I tired uninstalling it and installing my previous version via titanium backup, but sill i have lost 3mb, Any ideas to how i can retrieve my internal space back?? now I have turned off the automatic updates. thanks.

Were you having the previous installation of Flash player in the sd card?
No, it was originally from the market.
Seriously, you are complaining about 3 MB?
Nevertheless, back to topic: When system apps are updated, the updates are always installed to /data partition. Don't know why, but this gives you the possibility to uninstall updates, which could not be done if updates were installed to /system.
SwiftKeyed from CyanogenMod with Transparent XDA App
Whenever my internal space starts to get low and some of the applications have been updated more than once I uninstall them and the re-install, it seems to be that my phone is storing data after every update so updating straight to the most recent version seems to take up less space.
I dont know if this is 100% correct but it seems to work for me.
Its not about 3mb, thats one case, if several updates happen then you will have no internal space. I dont have a table for my desire, after all my main apps installed im left with a limited 25mb of internal space so every mb matters. il try that aswel TheDarkenedPoet though. thanks for replying

[Q] Phone Freezing After Boot

Hi Guys
I have tried searching for this problem im having but no joy yet
(Taken from "about phone")
Rom - CM7.1.0.1-buzz
Kernal - 2.6.35.14-nFinity
Radio - ??
Hboot - ??
S-on / s- off - S-On
I have installed CM7 and im starting to like the look of it, the problem is i used to have approx 90ish apps when i was on wildpuzzle so i backed them up using TB but now if i restore them on to cm7 after about 30ish (and with plenty of internal space still left) when i reboot the phone the apps appear in my menu but then the whole phone freezes and the only way is to take the battery out
at first i thought i had a rogue app, but i have tried many different apps and orders of restore but still the same problem....
so my questions are
1) is there a max amount of apps i can have or a min amount of space that has to be free internally
2) is there an app that i can put on my phone that logs what is happening on startup, maybe i could identify something wrong
3) is there an app to speed up the reading times of my memory card, i have seen people talking about the "class" but i dont know what mine is
hopefully someone out there can help as at the min i cant really fault cm7, but i also cant understand this problem
Did you backup System Data as well by any chance?
no just user data
In that case, try restoring apps one by one. Extremely boring task, I know, but, it should work. I have had this issue once when I had ~70 apps.
i have tried that as well
i installed 50 apps approx and did a nandroid backup after each...then it started to freeze, so i went back 3 backups and then restored a different set of apps and i got the same result
50+ apps on the wildfire?! Why? It's so slow only basic functions are possible

[Q] Virus? Internal storage maxing out

Hi guys,
I think there's a virus on my phone.
I got an error message saying the internal storage is full. I tried deleting some apps but it just filled right up again to 1.2gb in a matter of seconds (and adding up all the storage usage of the apps listed there comes nowhere near 1.2gb).
I just did a full reinstall of everything (wiped everything, new gapps, new cm7, etc) but 5 minutes after having done so the error is there again.
Anybody know what's going on?
Thanks
I doubt a virus or any kind of android malware is capable of doing that. You should try and flash an sbf to be sure to have done a full clean wipe. Factory reset only resets data, not system so if the bug is in your system it's still there. It's probably the case.
CM7 + CM9 double boot
I have the same issue. It started after i installed cm 7.2. What should i do?
same thing here
just started but i havent flashed a newer version of CM7 , been using it for months and just 3 days ago got the same message , although i did a fresh install 12 hours later storage full again. wtf is going on
Either a rare bug, or maybe your memory chips are damaged. But that's unlikely. Have you tried flashing a new SBF + another version of CM7?
Are you actually having a performance problem or just reading an app-watcher app? I'm on stock 2.2.1 and if I run the built-in Task Manager it will always warn me I'm maxing memory. In my case it means absolutely nothing as that's how Android behaves. And... I get zero slow-downs etc. On some stock phones where memory is really getting maxed out and phones slowing, have heard that activating the "Debugging" option is a work around, although no one is sure why.
Do you use a cracked version of Titanium Backup or one that you did not update to the very last version and were you also recently using the latest Google Play Store (3.5.15 or 3.5.16 - released today) by any chance?
I ask because I know that an slightly out of date version of TB was giving me such problems with Google Store v3.5.15: "out of memory please uninstall some apps" and I had about only 50% of the memory used.. And I've read somewhere that there were issues with the 2 softwares due to changes in Market links and stuff...
To solved that, I've then reverted to my old and trusted version of TB and Market v3.4.4 which only updates to 3.4.7.
I might be beside the track here..but that's my guess anyway.

After you wipe/fresh install uncheck the Restore google thing after signing in. I had the same problem the first wipe/reinstall of cm i did ran out of space in under a hour. the last wipe/install i unchecked google restore and its been a full 24 hours in i've still got storage. I don't know if that will work for you but so far its worked for me.

low internal storage/memory?

My friend picked up one of these yesterday, his first android phone after years with iOS. Last night he was getting a low memory notification and was unable to install anymore apps.
His storage stats were showing only 1.5~gb of storage usable for installing apps, is that normal? Also the details were 500mb of apps installed, 200mb cache but only 100mb free, looks like he had 700mb unaccounted for.
Anything unusual with this or is it as to be expected on this phone?
Anyone able to help?
Done A factory and after a day he has no internal space available but only 500mb of apps and cache used.
Also he tried installing an app from the store and it is saying it can't run because his phone is rooted. We haven't rooted it though!
Sounds like a used device. Rooted and full of stuff.
No?
If so... Is wipe it clean and return to stock. See one of the guides here on that and follow it to the letter.
Things you need to know first though, is bootloader unlocked? Is it s-off? These things can decide the best way to return to stock.

Root Storage Space VS Unrooted Fire TV

I noticed my legit Fire TV unrooted on the latest firmware has 4.09 GB of space after root - yet my rooted ones are at 3.79 GB
Can anyone tell me why this is? I noticed the Cache is taking a lot of space...
Do you ever let the screen saver run? I've observed it download 400MB worth of images unless turned off. Clearing the photos app cache seem to reclaim the space.
That ironically worked and yes - i leave it on all the time LOL.
Also do you have "CaptivePortalLauncher" showing under apps with the android icon? Wonder why this shows but on non-rooted it doesn't...

My rooted box is still on the earliest boot menu-compatible firmware. I think the captive portal app showed up on the stick since this March.

I'm rooted and captive portal is showing up
Thank you everyone!
I am rooted using rbox pre-rooted firmware. I have swapped internal storage to my ssd. Everything works great, however when I revert back to internal storage the available storage shows only 787 mb of space available. Even after I do a factory reset from CWM recovery. Am I missing something as far as maybe having to wipe system? the storage available should be a little more than 3.5 gigs since there are no user apps installed? Does the swap to external leave data from the swap somewhere on the Fire TV?
any help would be appreciated.
