Web browser question regarding page size - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Hi guys
Just got my brand new nexus 7 and loving it so far. I will be using it mainly to browse the web and watch films. For the web browsing I am just using the stock Chrome and for me it works pretty well apart from one issue.
Using the tablet in portrait mode I find desktop websites a little too small and in landscape it seems to be zoomed in too far. I know I can adjust the size of the text in the settings but this only effects some text and not others. I guess what I would like is to use the nexus in landscape mode but zoom out the page a little to fit more on to it. Does anyone know of chrome supports this or perhaps some other browser that does that?
Cheers

HTC Surround Keyboard Problem

Hello guys just got the htc surround today , i was wondering that there is no keyboard in landscape mode in IE browser
Like i go to the home page and i can see the address bar only in portrait mode not landscape more.
And one more thing , does it cost to be a member on Xbox live on WP7 ? like my account name is Player8567 and so on.
Please waiting for quick answers
The browser is very limited in landscape support until ie9 and no it does not cost to be a member of Xbox live.
HTC 7 PRO support keyboard in landscape mode in IE browser
No other good browser for WP7? I feel its is really limited.
I use surf cube... Its an awesome browser. Internet explorer is pretty great though.

HTML5 (videos) on Note 2

I wanted to be able to view web pages on Note 2 just like I can on iPad. I downloaded Dolphin HD browser, tried changing User Agent to iPad / Nexus 7 /iPhone. I have been disappointed with overall experience. When I change the User Agent to Nexus 7, I can see full CNN page, but when I click on Videos, it says I need Adobe. I can run videos when using iPad UA, but the quality is mediocre. Is there a way to surf the internet like you can on iPad? View full websites and run videos?

if you need adobe flash player then install it? iphone doesn't have flash i'm pretty sure. so your overall experience will be 100 times better on android also, dolphin hd browser does NOT support flash. you'll need to use the mini dolphin or the stock browser to view things in flash. most sites still don't seem to support HTML5. i've seen very few. oh and jelly bean doesn't have official flash support, but it still works perfectly.
so google how to side-load flash player. if you don't know how. problem solved.

What I'm trying to get at is, if iPad/iPhone can convert and play that video in HTML5, why can't an Android device play it if I change user agent to that of an Android tablet. I don't want flash. Just want to be able to play videos from full-websites, not mobile sites.
A example of site were you have this problem?

CNN full site. Try running any video. It only renders videos in mobile version of the site, in full version it displays Flash installation message.

Just download adobe flash from adobe's own website and it'll work fine. I can confirm it works on my ipad 3 as html 5.

I did download flash and it is workable, lil choppy but I guess I will take it. Not as smooth as on the iPad.
Also, I went to a Staple store yesterday and checked out couple of Android tablets including Nexus 7 and ran into the same situation on all tablets. I went to CNN, it opened full page, but when I clicked on the video, it presented Adobe message. Download Dolphin, then it works in HTML5, but a little grainy. This is something that just works on the iPad natively in HTML5
I noticed that you mentioned that you use Dolphin browser. I've noticed that the performance of the Dolphin on the Note 2 is less than good IMO, especially compared to stock. I would recommend trying Boat Browser instead, and just run flash. It's much better that way.

Much better! And the browser is free, I will take it. Thanks. Boat Browser + Flash apk puts me in the ballpark where I don't have to reach out for my iPad. :good:

Tab 8.4 unresponsive browsing in chrome

Since I got this table a year ago, browsing in chrome was always kinda wacky.
It is slow and unresponsive, clicking on links takes forever.
Anyone else? Is this an issue with the tablet itself? Any fix?
Hi, was my problem too, no i have downloaded xposed module app setting, configurated chrome to screen 320x480 (for use phone interface that is, really strange.. very faster than tablet version) and.. voilĂ .. now chrome is really fast and for open only desktop site use this hack: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1811101.
You could try downloading the Chrome Samsung support library from the Play store. I've found it really improves Chrome performance on Samsung devices.

full screen browser

I have a web page slideshow I display on a 40" TV at my business, and am hoping to use my fire stick instead of my laptop to run it.
I've sideloaded a few browsers and they display the slideshow, but not full screen.
I've tried Dolphin & Firefox, but can't see if it's possible to go full screen and tried a couple of "Fullscreen Browser" apps XYZ-Apps version ran the slideshow poorly and has a welcome message bar I cant make go away. The Klurige version has no way to enter the URL.
Can anyone suggest a solution?
try the app "rotate screen orientation" and see if that helps. it sets all apps to landscape mode.

I would like to know which version of the Opera Web Browser are you currently using on your FireTV?
Are you using the latest Opera 35.0.2070.100283 (Full Version) or Opera Mini 15.0.2125.100342 (Beta)?
I am using the Opera Browser not mini my version atm is 34.0.0.2044.98679 so would be version before that I guess but its fast full screen and has good features. Funny cause I like using firefox on my kindles but opera seems a nice fit for the ftv.

Thanks for your quick reply!

Anyone here use Opera Browser? I keep getting pop up to either Wait or Restart.

Just wondering if anyone use Opera Browser. I switched to this browser since it does a nice job with word wrap and formats the text into a column that makes it perfectly readable. Dolphin had this until the Nougat update and now it lost it's word wrap abilities.
However with the Moto Z Play whenever I use Opera if I try to switch to a link to fast or do too many presses the app seems to lock up or take it's time to catch up. If it can't catch up it then pops up a screen to either Wait, restart, or shut down the browser.
I am trying to figure out if it's my phone or just the Opera browser that is causing all these problems.
Anyone else have these problems with Opera?
I have a Pixel XL which seems to run Opera a little bit more smooth and doesn't have this problem. However I want to use the Moto Z Play due to the excellent battery life. The Pixel while nice and fast and excellent camera just doesn't have the Moto z play's battery life which I need more than the speed.
I occasionally use Opera. Haven't noticed this behavior.
i get this a lot with Opera on the Priv with certain websites (Amazon Music is a trouble spot), but i haven't had any issues on the Z Play.
I would suggest getting in contact with Opera and see if they can help.
Across all my devices Opera is very inconsistent. It either eats up all available RAM or is just plain crap as a browser .
