[Q] P936 update to different country's firmware? - LG Nitro HD

Hi I have LG P936 (Optimus TrueHD) in New Zealand.
however, according to LG, the P936 phone is not supposed to be on sale in NZ (although I bought it at a certified electronics shop), so I am not getting any updates, even though there are official ICS update in Portugal and Germany which uses the same radio band/frequency.
1. Is there a way to update my phone to a different country's firmware through the LG Mobile Support Tool or OTA?
2. Does anyone know which country's firmware (either Portugal or Germany) will work best in NZ?

You can get baseband/firmware here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1842763
As far as which one? I don't know, just start with one and try. These will work with any ROM. As most ROMs don't include the radio.

I have been there and it's only baseband flashing, not firmware.

I just double checked. You need to click on download on the first post. The file server that it takes you to all have baseband/firmware in the file name.

wait I thought firmware = rom... or it's inside the rom or whatever.
i meant i was looking for a way to install different country's ICS update on my 2.3.6 phone.

Try this: http://lg-phone-firmware.com/firmware-Lg+Optimus+True+HD+LTE-Tutti-17.html
Now you will need a kdz installer available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2149211
You won't have root, or the ability to install custom roms but it is a least a start.

Thanks for trying to help me but I've already tried the kdz flash tool but no matter who's tutorial I follow and which ones i download, the flash tool self crashes so I have never succeeded with the flash tool. Yes I have drivers installed. Yes I have whatever needed installed... The tool keeps crashing. windows7.
That is why I was asking for way to update my phone using the LGMobile Support Tool or OTA.

Ok, does the LG mobile support tool say your up to data? If it does, you should be able to click on help, then emergency. And flash it that way. Or download the v18f exe file, run it, then see if the LG mobile support tool says you have an update. There is no ota for ics.

How to unlock boot loader LG E 975

Hello
This is my first post on xda forums. I just purchased LG optimus G E975 ( indian version ) yesterday
I have used this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2163814
to root my phone and I there is no error in rooting and I can find the superuser app installed.
I have a simple doubt by using the above guide is my bootloader still locked or it's unlocked in the process ??
I also want to keep my stock android and don't want to use Custom ROM as of now ( I would like to explore features that LG provided )
I just want to unlock my bootloader and have full root access and want to install custom ROM clockworkmod.
Thank you

Succes ? I'll get my e975 in a few days. And of course want to unlock BL, root and if there are some, to flash custom kernel.
FreeGee not working on E975(yet).I have E975 10c(4.1.2)(Orange romania) and i also want cwm on it.Rooting procedure is very easy, took me about 1 minute(thanks fiddy for that).
Unfortunately i couldn't find anything related to cwm.
Also, is there way to check bootloader status?
Thanks.
CWM is not available and will not be.
unlock is working with another version of freegee.
but is not public and Shelnutt2 is working on an easier way, but he need some files.
please try the latest freegee beta: http://downloads.codefi.re/shelnutt2/optimusg/freegee/FreeGee-beta.apk
starts the unlock method and upload the files for freegee to support your rom in the future.
thanks

Just an update, as soon as some from HK or tw can send me the ICS sbl stack we can move forward with a better unlock. If no one offers up to dump the images soon I might have to ask someone on an e975 to kdz to their ICS firmware and grab them for me.

[Q] Ota Update

Hi to all,
i have a Lg O.G from the UK and i'm in Croatia, the OTA feature does not work, it says that the phone is not registred.
Now I know why it does that, but I don't know which firmware i can flash to gain OTA.
Some info:
Baseband version: APQ8064/MDM9x15M
Build Number: JZO54K
Software version: E97510d-466-92
The Optimus g croatian version has this software version: E97510d-EUR-XX
My question is, can someone tell my if I can flash croatian firmware over the uk one, and if yes where can i find it.
The phone is an unlocked unbranded model from UK.
I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2320817 and it has 2 Eu KDZ one open and one common, i have the 10d what if i try the common one??
Thanks in advance.

Goran

Well thats a good news, thanks for the replay, I will try it today, hope it pass all ok, 'cause this is my first LG phone and I'm not used to falsh this device.
Jegor..
can you in short explain how did you updated your phone, I have tried but nothing. Downloaded the kdz file, installed the drivers for lg, downloaded the KDZ Updater, put the phone in download mode, opened the updater (now I'm not sure which one I should use the KDZ_SW_UPD or UP_textEX_mod2) I have used the second, loaded the kdz file, selected 3GQCT and phone mode CS_Emergency.
It goes until DSP i think 95 the it reboots into the phone normaly and then nothing...
Used KDZ_SW_UPD with the same result.
Can you help me??
Thanks!
I've followed these instructions. As you can see they are for LG Optimus 4X HD but the procedure is the same. There are a few steps that I don't see you've mentioned. And there is an inevitable hard reset in the end, but even without it you should be able to boot up your LGOG.
Good luck.

[POLL]Install CWM from ICS without unbricking.

I wanted to find out if anyone thinks it would be useful to be able to root ICS and install CWM without having to downgrade to GINGERBREAD first? I have pulled the unlocked bootloader from the P936's v10i Rom and replaced the locked bootloader from ICS and install CWM Touch and therefore eliminating the need to unbrick your phone first. This includes either full stock or after a fresh install from v18f/v20x. This is done through ADB using a simple bat file.
So I just need to know:
1. Yes I think this is useful or
2. No this isn't useful.
Sent from my LG-P930 using xda app-developers app
1. Absolutely. I am on ICS and installing a recovery seems a pain in the ... Of course every easier method would be highly welcome.
Sent from my LG-P930 using Tapatalk
You cannot unlock the bootloader on ICS and you need an unlocked bootloader in order to install a custom recovery from what I have seen and read.
I saw in another post that someone was able to do and I would love to see a bat file that saves us the trouble of unbricking.

I found a way . Actually it more accurate to say that I found a way to push an unlocked boot loader that bypasses the lock. Fully tested. I will provide more details when I get the thread done. No unbricking needed.

No, I'm just wasting my time giving bogus assistance to people.
Of course I am sure it works. I've done it before as many other users in the past.
If you already have the latest kdz file, you can do it in a quicker way by using the flashtool but it sounds like you're new to all this.
You can unroot & update via OTA or use the support tool which will download the updated firmware and install it for you regardless of your root/unlocked status as I've mentioned before (select Update Recovery).
You won't lose any data or settings. It's like dirty flashing a custom rom.

If you're unsure about using the support tool, why don't you just unroot and update via OTA? Like I said above, if you decide to use the support tool, select "update recovery" (your phone should be connected as LG software usb mode). It will put your phone into a download mode, download the latest firmware (1.6gb), and proceed with the installation. If you choose the OTA method, the download size is much smaller.

Ok im now confused. When i want to install it via ota update i have just to unroot the phone, because i read that if you have an unlocked bootloader it will stick in a bootloop? So i have to go in supersu and click full unroot and install the update and re-root and the unlocked booltloader doesn't matter??
And via support tool: i have to connect the phone to the computer and download the full firmware and i don't lose the data, is it right? Sorry for this stupid questions but i have no idea.
