Headphones causes system lag and no sound - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Hi everyone,
I have brand new nexus 32gb lte version almost for one week and i discovered weird bug - when i plug headphones to device - suddenly all sounds stop working and systwm is slow for a while. After reboot sound is working fine until i plug headphones in again and the situation repeats.
Do you have any idea please? Thanks

Sounds defective, I'd get it replaced.

It should be normal for all the sound to mute through the speakers when you plug in headphones. Does the sound continue to play through the headphones? Or does it completely stop? The lag is a little weird, though. Since it's still so new, I would give it a factory reset and see if the issue persist. I would usually recommend an RMA to send it in for service; but seeing as how it's only a week old, I would contact your reseller to see if you can get an exchange.

Thx for answers guys. I am going to store tmrw to get new one. The sounds stop completely so no music no movies etc. Hope the next one will be ok

thanks
I have the same problem, mine just stopped working, try using a soundrecorder to see whats the output. Mine still works a bit, but only for VERY load things. Sadly theres nothing that you could do about that...

Mic not working
When i record it with sound recorder i get a radio sound , nothing other than that.
It does sound like hardware, the mic is part of the main flex cable and seems veryhard if not impossible to replace on its own. A new flex cost around $30 and takes 30min~hour to replace

SE MW-600 with note?

Just about to buy Sony Ericsson mw600 bluetooth headphones and wanted to know if someone tried them with the note?
I know that with my HTC Desire I can use them but want to be sure that with the note it is also possible.

+1, plus the song title information even comes on the display.
If app support API of JB it works great.

They work fine - but I have been through two of them over the last couple of years. They are cute, the display is nice but they have a habit of locking up and while you can sort of reset them (by holding down the power button while removing the charging cable) this eventually stops being useful.
I threw them away after both fully died and have the Samsung HS3000 instead. No display but the voice prompts are OK. Battery life is about the same. Sound quality (given both are BT) is much the same but perhaps not as loud at max volume.

Interesting ... perhaps yours was an earlier revision, as I've had mine for about two years now and it's only performed flawlessly. Go figure ....

[Q] [XS] Are you genuinely happy with your phone?

So the Xperia S is well over a year old now, we've had delayed updates for the ICS at first and then the wtf delays for Jellybean. We've had bugs, lived with them and ultimately fixed, the dev community for it seems to be fully alive and kicking now with tons of roms to choose from.
but the question remains,
can you genuinely say that you are happy with the Xperia S?
for someone who bought the phone just about a month or so after being released at a premium price, my answer would be a very solid MEH.
Jellybean may have come, but it still gets pretty slow sometimes (and I use minimal apps, no cosmetic apps or custom launchers at all), tried custom roms (all the devs have done a tremendous job, but each rom still have their own problems).
I was very happy with the phone when it came out.
A few updates later, and battery life is terrible but everything else is ok.
To be honest, the battery life is making me really not like the phone. Something as simple as leaving it overnight with everything off and no use and it somehow drains 30 - 40%. On the release date firmware I could easily get 4 days with minimal use. Since the last few updates I am lucky to get 1 day barely using the phone.
Overall, I would also give it a resounding MEH.
Since Xperia Ion uses the same internals of Xperia S, I would say I am extremely satisfied with my phone. Battery life overnight drops randomly overnight. On a good night it drops 2%, 20% on a bad one. I investigated and the drop seems to come from Google Now and Facebook But battery life on the average day is below par. Playing Minion Rush straight for 1 hour results in 50% drop in battery. But I wouldn't blame Sony. The CPU inside in Qualcomm's first generation and isn't very powerful efficient. But I usually turn off the phone fearing the "radiation" from the network radios. The screen quality very good, and personally, better than Xperia Z. No comments of speaker quality as I usually use the headset. Pertaining to the Jelly Bean update, no doubt it's smooth and fluid and there's no many bugs. But I am very surprised Sony can miss the 1080p video problem. But if you discount that, I would say Sony did a great job.

Yes,I am happy with my ion :3
Many people said bug there and there with their phone even in ICS...but my ICS is fine enough for me to keep me happy...but still Jellybean haven't arrived yet in Malaysia, but all firmware of Xperia in Malaysia are all stable that's what I like about it

Will never be happy without the possibility of unlocking my BL.
If I wanted a ultra.locked system I buy an iPhone... And even that is jailbreakable.
Probably will not buy sony again during this policy from them.
About hardware... Xperia S is a good phone, no doubts about that.

It's the telecom provider that requests your bootloader to be locked, not Sony. Even if you buy HTC or LG phones from the same network provider, there's high chances that it will be locked.

Nope, Sony is the only OEM that locks its phones down. Samsung doesn't, neither HTC, LG or Motorola do.

Your lack of research and sheer arrogance is commendable. Some US carrier variants of S4 and HTC One have their bootloaders locked. Go Google it yourself. Only difference: users have find ways to bypass the restriction in those phones.

Motorola only started offering a bootloader unlock facility on their most recent phones in about August last year. As someone who still owns an older Motorola phone (a Defy+) I can assure you that it is not possible to unlock the bootloader on that phone - bought SIM-free so no tie-in or lock-downs from a network provider. Check the threads on the XDA Defy forums if you don't believe me: they gave up trying. Previously, some Motorola phones were available with unlocked bootloaders from new, but they were effectively special versions intended for developers. Until the change of policy last year normal phones were locked and not unlockable.
lee480 is correct: Xperia phones have the option to unlock the bootloader by design, but network providers can arrange for that option to be disabled on the phones that they supply. My XAS (again, bought SIM-free) has the bootloader unlock option available, I just haven't enabled it. There are plenty of folks posting in the Xperia forums on XDA who have unlocked the bootloaders on their phones using the method provided by Sony - just look in the development sub-forums. Sony also provide a helpful online guide which explains how to get your bootloader unlocked (check out their list of 30+ supported phones and compare that to Motorola's list of just six, two of which are "developer editions").
If you want to knock Sony, you could at least get your facts right.
I know how to unlock the bootloader of a "normal" XS. Mine has been locked down by my carrier, so I don't even need to try it with Sony's method as it won't work.

Yes, I happy with my unlocked SL. Except the audio. The sound quality is poor for me, the volume too. Both on the phone's speaker and on my Beyerdynamic DT 235. My old SE LwW has got a much better audio system. Another problem the jack. It's really sensitive on my SL. (If my english is bad, sorry)
Only thing I miss is a bigger battery. Once the screen is on or you use gps the small battery really starts to struggle.
For my use, i don't feel JB is different compared to ICS. Only thing I would miss in JB is to turn of data/wifi when the screen of. I would also miss the honescreen redraw in JB that ICS didn't have in quite as often.

Isn't the home screen redraw related to memory and a lack of it at that time?
Used the xs for a long time and my gripe was the rear case, clips became worn and slips off easily. Loved the display though, compared to my xz and XT is really vibrant
I'm not really content with my phone. Battery life is a huge problem and also the bloatware, can't do multitasking enough.

Think it is. Seen it more with JB compared to ICS, not only with a browser that was most common in ICS.

Xperia Acro S
I'm very happy with my Acro S. For me, it's the most suitable phone, even compared to current models.
It's 4.3'' display has just the right dimensions to still be used with one hand and to still fit in any pocket.
It's water resistant; which is important since i'm sometimes somewhat heavy-handed (I already sunk two phones in my life, one got irreparably damaged by hot spiced wine aka "Glühwein").
It's SD-card slot enables me using my 32GB memory extension for keeping my music, my pics and videos and some general data. Which is not always that important in everyday-life, but when travelling, it's really nice (eg OSM map data).
I have an unlocked bootloader and have it rooted since my third week of use (which was Stock ICS that days).
With the camera mods from XDA members, even the camera makes nice (enough) pictures and videos. It's quick shot by hardware button feature is great.
My battery lasts 48h with usual use (including the sleeping times). But (to be on the save side) I usually charge it every night. I don't switch off Wifi, Bluetooth, ANT, GPS, GSM/3G-Data.
I like the ANT+-feature for running. 1 hour of running with BT headset, music player, GPS and heatrate tracking (runtastic) drains my battery by something like 10% (including the other general stuff like mail/calender sync and stuff at that time).
I use it for playing music on my way to work via bluetooth headset and in my car via bluetooth caraudio connector.
I home-improved a common docking station to be my car cradle for charging and provding me easy access to navigation and music control while driving. (I extremely like the charging pads of the Acro S for that, since I don't have to connect any wires.)
I home-crafted an alternative charging cradle for the charging pads; so I can place the phone horizontally on my bed while charging. (You know the "Sleep-as-Android"-app? Does not wake you when you're in deep sleep (until a deadline).)
I like to impress other smartphone users (especially iPhone) with the OTG feature. ("You want the photos of the last class reunion? You have your USB memory with you? You can have them right here and now...")
The phone is very stable (was with ICS and is with JB). I can't remember when it's OS crashed last time. I sometimes reboot it to free up some left-behind memory; that's all.
I like reading magazines (PDF) with Acrobat Reader when having to travel via train. The great display resolution makes it look really nice. (Of course, only if the magazine's good. IEEE Spectrum is good! )
I'm just waiting for an updated (XDA member's) 3.4-kernel giving me working cifs/smb-support, so that I can use my NAS again. (With ICS you needed a downloadable kernel module; JB kernel should already have it, but was broken in Linux' 3.4-sources.):fingers-crossed:
Just two little things to complain:
It's camera could be a little less noise when dark.
It could have more RAM. (When you have a lot of heavy apps running like Whatsapp, Hangout, Firefox/Chrome etc, Android starts continuously stopping and restarting background tasks and kills the launcher. That's annoying and drains the battery.) So: 2GB RAM and a better camera and it would be perfect.
The screen timing is too short. Standby is ok, but not with screen on.
Sometimes, msg would get stuck in outbox when I use go sms, while default msg app don have function like save msg into other folders, pop up box etc.
Every first update is buggy(first ics and jb sucks)
Illuminated bar don work in jb.
The camera could have been better(focus etc)

the playmemories app keeps crashing on me, sony needs to update it for kitkat i think
Thanks. Can you use it the native camera app for those lenses?
I have used it on nexus 4, and it works flawlessly. No idea why won't it work for nexus 5. But yeah, may be it won't be compatible for kitkat. When Z,Z1 get's kitkat's update, probably it will work after that. They won't just update it's compatibility for nexus 5.
should try camear360 out
apparently you can use the camera 360 app to access the sony lens cameras play. google. com/store/apps/details?id=vStudio.Android.Camera360 (sorry, remove space as needed)
curious to see if it is better than the playmemories app (people commented that it had been plague with problems)
Why will you never buy another sony phone?
Let me know if camera 360 work i'm making some video with friends (nothing important, just some funny videos XD). Audio and image sucks...
ot: 3 months without the xperia S for the yellow screen problem...
now my xperia Z has water damage and they don't wanna change it, becuase it's my fault (for them), i should have send it to the assistance for the topping before this appen... And i have used bluetooth SONY SBH20 headset and official docking station for not open and not ruin the topping....
Yeah, my english sucks...
Got the same thing. Tried at my work and play memories keeps indeed crashing...

thanx for your info
Hi, any updates on QX10 on Nexus5? I am thinking of getting one
I have this combo. Works fine for me on 4.4.4
Can be laggy if you have a number of other apps open though.
Thanks for the reply. How about the image quality compared to the n5?
Oh much better in my opinion. But it isn't a fair comparison.

Vehicle Bluetooth with Moto360?

Hey all I've had my 360 for a few months now and just started noticing a problem. When I have my watch connected to my phone my phone has a hard time connecting to my Chrysler Uconnect in my stereo. I can't tell if it's a phone problem, Uconnect problem or the watch. It'll drop connection from the car on and off and sometimes not connect at all. I'm pretty sure the watch stays connected the whole time. Once I disconnect the watch, the car connection works just fine.
Anyone else run across this?
These issues are seen with lollipop on phone....
or some people whose phone is moto x or one plus one
Sent from my SM-N910C using Tapatalk 2
It's a Bluetooth low energy issue. Same exact problems with my nexus 5 and my pebble, also exists with my nexus 6 and moto 360. It's very very annoying as it appears to be an issue with android itself somehow. I'm hoping with more Google engineers using wear and a nexus they'll get annoyed and finally fix it...
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
i have no such issues with pairing a nexus 6 connected to a moto 360 in the ride.
i mainly use poweramp and the connection to the HU is a few seconds SLOWER than i noticed on the htc one max i used prior, but it connects and displays the music data on the ride with no issue. steering wheel buttons also work normally.
stock and not rooted. both devices.
It seems to be select car kid or a2dp devices. My car has the issue but not my Bluetooth speaker. So the Bluetooth device also matters somehow

Just got a Moto 360 this week-end and in the car on the way home, my phone calls over bt to my BMW dropped repeatedly. Would connect and disconnect. Rebooted my phone, same issue. Did not happen with original galaxy gear. This is a deal breaker from me. My phone is a stock Samsung Note 4. No car phone issues with a Striiv Touch.

I just disconnect my watch when I get in the car. Annoying that I have to do that.
