[review] hyperion 8 golden master final build - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 General

Hey guys the Hyperion 8 Final Golden Master Build has released. As the dev said it is the final build. So let's enjoy this build and hope for the Hyperion 9.
Here is a review of Hyperion 8.... Hope you guys will enjoy reading the review....
Battery Backup:
First thing is first. All SGY users stuck here as SGY's battery backup is not that good. But the Hyperion team did a great job in this section. I m having a great battery backup with Savie's Kernel and Hyperion 8 GM build.
Home Launcher:
We all know about Hyperion home launcher. It doesn't use holo launcher as default, so we get more free ram in our hands. The Home launcher is good but personally I liked the home screen of Pre GM build.
Apps:
The apps are well themed and good looking. Apps are really cool. But opening apps take more time than the Pre GM build.
Theming and Icons:
Thus is one of the best things of Hyperion. Well themed systemui makes the Hyperion 8 GM build even better than Pre GM build. The icons are excellent. The Transparency is even better in this GM build.
System Free Space:
There is more than 50MB system space remain free afterr the installation. So you can add your own modified app in the system without worrying of deleting another.
Ram Consumption:
This GM build looks consume a little bit more ram than the Pre GM build. But the ram consumption is still better than most of the roms found in XDA.
Transition:
The transitions are really worth using.. Tgey are smooth, but a little bit lagging when opening apps.
Booting:
The worst part of Pre GM build was its booting. It took so long time. But now with the co-operation of Savie's Kernel the booting tine has been reduced in a great extent. The boot animation is cool too.
Smoothness:
This rom is super smooth with the Gentleman Set v4.
No Lockscreen Mod:
No lockscreen mod pre installed this time. But the rom is deodexed. So you can install this mod on your own. But personally I want this mod pre installed in the next update.
Statusbar:
There is no brightness slider in the statusbar like the Pre GM build. It should be there in the next build. Overall the statusbar is good.
SuperSU Access:
I don't know why, but SuperSU takes very long time to grant superuser access. I don't know whether it is a problem of rom or superSU, but it is very annoying.
No More Bangla Supported:
This build no more supports bangla. I know this is all about baseband, but this is the worst thing in this build. I cant see bangla in facebook, blogs and forum. This is really annoying. Sir @CarlDeanCatabay please give a little bit conscious about this in yoir next build.
Bugs:
EMEI lost, Statusbar Graphics bug, Equaliser forse close. These are the bugs as far as I found.

Imei can be fixed with the Ril ramdisk and Savies #1 kernel. I prefer Pure Performance X which makes this rom fantastic. Good review btw!
ROM:Hyperion 8 GM | Kernel : Savies #1

Use VulpiX mod instead. Its a much more upgraded version of Pure Perf X. Anyway, both is good. nice review.
The brightness slider is in the status bar. It can be found in the uppermost part (the dark part). Its invisible. Try swiping left to right.

Which script is better for battery backup?

There are so many tweaks available.... try them out to get the best for u....
and there is a thread named "simple battery tweak" or something like that in the general section of sgy... Try it out... Its really helps to extend battery backup...

What's a good kernel to use for this? I haven't changed my kernel at all, so I'm not sure which ones I can use for this ROM.

What would you like in a ROM? (Somewhat Perfect?)

The title says all!
So comment below of what you would like to see in a Rom if I were Hypothetically making..?
BTW also comment what launcher you would like:
Touchwiz Launcher (Modded/Themed)
ssLauncher
ADW Launcher
Other
Cant really say launcher or something but abilities of a rom should be:
Speed
Stability
Battery life improving
Customizable
That points make me choose between roms

Your Beats Rom or something else?
Lightweight, fast, stable, battery saving, pretty theme like ICS ... I like all the customizable features of ADW in ArpegGio but it may or may not be slowing me down..
Unlocked... when I flashed ArpegGioMod my phone seemed to automatically unlock itself?
No bloatware (obvious)
Basically like ArpegGio but more stable.. GPS, Wifi, MMS/SMS, camera, etc. all native functions 100%
I like that menu where I can reboot/directly to Recovery etc..
Upgrades as mentioned by "beats" would be nice... it seems like I don't get my full volume potential on headphones when compared to my old BBCurve..
Native a2sd already included and setup (?)
So, somewhere between Damn Small Gio and your OmegaICS would be nice lol.. It would be nice if I could get Mupen64 playing Super Mario 64 on full speed! Might be dreaming though..

Thanks guys. I ended up getting an iPhone for about a year. It was a great phone but boring due to having no customization. This is my 2nd day with the Galaxy Nexus and I love it. Android has really come a long way since I last used it.

Hi Geo411m,
Thanks for your effort, just like to confirm that is it a CWM flashable zip?
Thanks~!!
Well, I ran into a few issues at first. It didn't have any APNs, but I reset APNS to default then restarted the phone and all is well now.
So far so good, no real issues now that it's up and running. Thanks!
And yes, it's flashable via CWM.
thanks kitinas.
damn, I'm forced to login/create account with 4shared now? bah..

Did you wipe caches after install? This rom was created using the system image directly from google and therefore should work exactly as OTA. Not sure why the apn weren't there on first use.

In my opinion I feel stock (with a few tweaks) offers more stability. I've seen too many AOSP give lots of FC/crashes and I rather have a working phone then have it crash while outdoors and you have to wait to get home to fix it.
My experience in Stock tells me, you can only be with stock for so long...
...till you get frustrated enough to
first - atleast change the Kernel (go for franco kernel, one of the best out there). that makes things a bit snappier, has much more tweaks under the hood for battery life, wifi et al
Then, second, figure out how many more features are available in ROMs out there instead of stock. Once you find that - it is very difficult to stick to stock. Try APEX which is a very generic rom and keeps best features of most of the ROMs out there.
So basically, take it easy, and enjoy the ride ... (or enjoy the bumps first then figure out a way to sail smooth!)
You wont like the smooth sailing of a beautiful rom and a kernel out there, till you've had it rough enough on stock. I just used the rom in this thread, and my phone went down by atleast 30% in terms of performance.
Its much more sluggish, feels heavier, and a bit jerky through the menus. Even when I have almost no apps installed!
I was much better on a 4.0.3 bigxie Apex rom (extremely stable) and franco kernel - extremely fast! blazing.
Stock cant even hold a candle infront of this combination, and I'm talking about 4.0.4!!
GPS lock on this stock image is a 1000 times better than CM9. wtf??

I've always had 5-10 second lock on CM9; seems like mileage varies for some people for some reason or another.

I just updated the ROM with a much more optimized system. Let me know how it compares to AOSP.
May I know what did you do to optimize the system? Deodex is to make it slower so I'm wondering what are other tweaks you included that make it different than say ARHD 3.0.

I don't know what's in ARHD to compare. I made lots of changes to the build.prop for increased performance and made changes to the system to make android take advantage of the Nexuses GPU for better performance.

lets try the easiest one. a cool cartoon cat themed rom?
reason, I love cats. I'd like to see a cat themed rom for my device. I wan't a modified theme for the dialer, mms app, and contact. a cat theme on gallery, clock widget, radio, calendar, and the UI will nice too.
Need One
Hmmm ... i will tell u one requirement while others & I also am waiting for CM7 / CM9.
first of all , i m a noob ... while posting request , if i demand something or say something foolish , please fogive me and correct me
to be true to the thread ..
i tried all the roms available in SGY section .. liked some & disliked some.
currently using Chobits v2
My personal taste is the PURITY. Just need SPEED, Stability and Good Battery Backup.
so if the thread is not gonna deleted i have a request.
**************************************************
Based on stock kernel , stock rom [like DDLE1], having stock launcher, stock msging app, stock dialer ... nearly everything stock
but exclude NOTIFICATION TOGGLE ... put 14 toggles (Will be great if WIFI HOTSPOT will be added as 15th one )
tweaks like V6supercharger,[email protected], adrenaline, etc to remove lag and increase speed,
improved battery backup
theming not needed
Swype not needed
rooted
Built-in Ads Blocker
Apps2SD Enable
Bloatwares removed
useless apps removed [like yahoo finance]
icons preferred stock one's
Stock boot animation & sounds
Instead of battery bar .... number display for remaining battery preferred.
enhanced music .... DSP, BEATS preffered
zipaligned, deodexed and whatever u wish to include / exclude but u should be having pureness in mind.
Thanks in advance.

why considering my request as an invalid request brother ??
just because i didnt demanded theming ??
is theming that necessary ... i thought its the performance that matters much ... theming has its own values but depends on taste ...
still my request feels invalid ??
PS: I would also like to test the GLASS ROM, Theme feels nice
Make anyone from above or both i'll surely test them

[Q] discussion about ROM's fan and software innovation here

i opened this post for speak about my general idea of Nexus's developer and what i think about it, and compare with yours ,i never like talk in a forum, and my english is not so good, i know, sorry
Okay, Hi everyone, in last month i tested almost ROM here and ALL ( I bought Glados, Franco and Trinity Control App for better test ) kernel here, my result is there's no one good for everyone ROM, each ROM and each Kernel will be different ( thanks, we are not apple ) but i have some doubt about developer chooise, i annotate all my test result in a note, and all test is not simple install , smooth ok, are real usage for 1+ day , this is a question post.
first thing i will talk about is SmartReflex, sr is a tecnology ( everyone know blabla ) provide a right voltage for each components without mine stability.
my question is here, why keep VDD_MIN ( min voltage ) so high? my phone is stable with MPU ( Cpu ) sets 750mV / 300 mhz, why keep 840 mV min value? ( +100mV of my stable value of my phone ) ( yes, of course leankernel provide a sysinterface for change it ) , i think is for stability , but i dont think with 750 MIN, smartreflex go under stable value of phone
Second Thing is governor tuning
the only real optimized governor ever see in my test is Interactive of leanKernel ( 4.3.0 ).
why some kernel continue to keep ondemand with default? Jelly bean born with interactive Governor, system autotuning in real time governor, with better battery ( see this gallery postimage.org/gallery/c6i6itjo/abeeb35a/ , 17 hours usage with 1 hour screen on and wifi, data always keep up , 78% battery remains ), of course its not a battery record, but i really like it, i compared it with trinity ( stable35 or alpha62 ) with MPU SR down and personal undervolted value, stable35 consume a lot , really high imho , 62 is better anyway( not tested a lot )
Different for franco, franco from 1 month use interactive as default, but milestone5 ( i dont test others ) keep too high usage of 700 mhz, of course this is most smooth kernel ,like as trinity, anyway there are 3 fantastic kernel, thanks
leankernel otherwise is the self-proclaim to be stable, most closer to linux branch and lean , it's almost right
fugumod is the kernel will be stable like rock , fast with good battery ( not best ) but it's problem is featureless ( one thing ever comprise is what the sense to use 100-200 mhz and 300 mhz when smartreflex use VDD_MIN for both, meh. )
i suggest leankernel but lean doesn have control app like trinity, franco or glados, i will focus about last, glados is designed and use self-programmed wheasley governor , it's based on google source and had almost no update ( last is 2 mouth ago ), this governor is like performance governor with some time in low frequency, i dont like it, but it's very good kernel for everyone want good performance kernel
in last, i will talk about faux kernel, it's really stock like with most subsystem update close to linux developer, it's good thing, it's really good kernel
this is my idea:
Performance
Franco
Trinity
Faux - Fugukernel
Leankernel
Battery
LeanKernel
Fugu
Franco
Trinity
Faux
Stable are all stable as rock, but most security and stable is of course FuguKernel, without doubt
Last position in smooth for leankernel dont stand for this kernel lag everytime you touch ui, stand for sometimes ( 4-5 times a day ) ,it have little lag in some ui
Third thing i will speak about is this, ROM fan blindy and real ROM innovation and their dev,
i will start from Android Revolution HD, this ROM self-proclaim to be the best ROM , leggend ROM with epic autonomy , i really try it intensly ( using for like 20 days with fuguMod Kernel ) , yes , this good is good about battery and smooth, BUT this is not the best ROM here, it's like stock with little tweak and no one mod , IMHO i think mike is good developer, their work on HTC is excellent, in the past it propose ROM with epic kernel, every parts of ROM modded and tweaked, now , imho he will port their ROM to every top Gamma phone , without focusing in each, see difference by user stock and user HD , both using stock kernel ( most stable? ... ***** please ) , difference in battery is really little ( 1-2 hours or something like ) , i really thanks mike for his work, but i dont like this idea,it's good only for people will use full stock by google IMHO
Paranoidandroid, this is for me most innovative ROM, its team work day/night to provide better and good ROM ( see difference between one month ago and now, it's seems new ROM it's based on Cyanogenmod10 , really good ROM , little good battery with good smooth, but it had one problem for me, different UI workspace IMHO is really difficult to day use, like phabletUI, status bar is so small i can't read battery, tablet ui dont work correctly with cm10 theme , some theme see battery too small or like that, landscape mode for tablet ui big or phabletui grab really a lot pixel to app, and something like that, anyway i think it's the most promising ROM here, best ROM i use from test is Jellybro CM10, it's basically CM10 with some cherry picks from everyone, really good battery and epic smooth, like cm10 of course, little mod and everday updated , really for me best rom here , little thing about couple rasbeanjelly and trinity, i will thanks rascarlo for its ROM, really cured and tweaked, ( imho better than android HD ) , like stock, but i will talk about last release ( 2 day ago ) , please fix spacing bug in launcher, it's sad dont using 10% upper of space becouse launcher keep this for inexistence google bar
after this i will keep to make a position list like
Battery: Minooch's ROM, CM10 , Jellybro
Innovation: paranoid android, jellybro, cm10
Performance, nothing, all ROM is full smooth without any big bug
fourth thing, PegasusQ governor, for now it's include only in AirKernel, pegasusQ governor is governor made from samsung for their quad-core device, siyah kernel introduce it modded ( it's the same use in airkernel? ) on dual core with epic feature of a-synchronized CPU, tegra3 platform do it by default, but in our no, 2 core work at same frequency,if cpu1 switch to 920mhz, cpu2 do same, pegasusQ will break this ideal and make each core different, more performante and more battery , theorically
thanks for answer, and bye

I don't think it's iphone copies. The entire rom looks so elegant. The Themes personalization is the most innovated work ever. Maybe u say it iphonish just because u look at the launcher that doesn't have app drawer, but it doesn't mean that isn't android style. The recent update for dialer piano sound is very creative. The way of displaying someone calling and messaging u is beautiful and it doesn't even looks a bit like iphone. The only flaw in miui for gnex is the performance and ram usage which is bad compare to other JB based rom. That's what I can add

Ram is not a problem here, in galaxy s, ram can be a problem, with 1 gb we haven't any problem of type anyway yes, it's right, miui is elegant ROM which a lot of unique feature ( i test it in galaxy s, theme is perfect, sure better than CM10 theme engine ) ,but ok, it's different from iphone, , it born as Iphone interface copies, now is something different with alot of good feature, but i dont like anyway sorry for this, but i can't test, now for now i'm using Google stock ( not android HD ) with fugumod kernel, i really like AOSP project and i dont miss stock in ROM list, but for me and my work, security and reliability is all, today i switched galaxy nexus for main phone, i need to be stable and security, using fugumod kernel ( more security )

I'm not asking u to test it and I know everyone liking is different. Me too won't be using miui forever, because I'm a flashing geek. I was just asking why u didn't include miui in your discussion thread as it is also a rom

I haven't tried the older versions. I find 7.3.30 to be excellent battery wise, and functionality wise (the stable version doesn't have a video screen recorder etc.)

Here you go (50 percent brightness most of the time, sometimes more. Never automatic). Weird error - the image is in the following message.
My phone uses L Speed on performance mode.
As to the theme - I'm using holo v8.
Here.
Btw it's customary to give a 'thanks' to a helpful post

Check multirom.me
Multirom is another type of miui custom rom....and as good as EU Rom with its own tweaks and cons

I don't like xiaomi.eu so much because xiaomi.eu have much features not included on stock dev.
I want one build with multi language only and no extra modifications.
Multirom what features have ?
How is for the battery?
Did you tested it ?

But leaving this it's very very good! I have much ram free and for the battery i need 3 days for test it, and i can tell if this rom is better than 6.11.10 build of xiaomi.eu

Hey guys , please if you want to talk for the best build / question and other please share this group with everyone have mi 5s device and redmi 4 pro
Telegram group Dev build miui !
Don't forget to make these settings, helps a lot for battery and performance.I also disable system animation from battery settings.
This one.
One of the only things I dislike about EU MIUI (I'm under 7.3.30, but this was true for other 7.x.xx versions I tried, weekly and stable) is that the capacitive buttons at the bottom aren't 100% responsive. The home and back buttons works OK, but there's a noticeable 1 second lag for the 'recent' button which is very annoying. I've tried LineageOS and Resurrection Remix and there the buttons are much faster.
Are the capacitive buttons responsive and does the recent menu pop uo virtually immediately with no lag on the multirom?
