I'm wondering if anyone can help me out with this issue. I have all my location and GPS settings set to off but I randomly see my location set icon and GPS icon pop up in my notification bar. If I open GPS Status it locks but should not since everything is set to off. Any ideas? Is someone spying on me? GPS even locks in Airplane mode.

I wonder if it could be the GPS Status app. I notice it causes the GPS icons to get stuck in the notif. bar sometimes too.... but I do have all location settings turned on. But I would at least try disabling the status app and see if the issue still occurs

wierd thing, when i wake my phone from sleep sometimes i see gps icon on status bar for 1-2 seconds then it disappears.
i'm a little paranoid... it's wierd that the gps seems to be turning on while my phone is sleeping, could this be a symptom of someone doing something on my phone while its sleeping?
anyone ever heard of this before?
Many apps and services like to have access to your location in the background.
If you have allowed GPS to be an available source of location data you will see the icon appear when the app or service is polling.
I would disallow GPS from being used and just let it triangulate your rough location by mobile data/wifi info.
I posted how to change this setting here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192160
After a hard reset, I noticed the GPS is shown to be on all the time, is this normal? I have turned off GPS in menu tabs. And I don't see any GPS radio icons on top of screen.
Any ideas?
It's not "normal." You are probably running an app that is using the GPS.

Just turn gps off when you are not using it

There are some apps that use GPS service and sometimes they will turn on your GPS and persistently acquire your position and until that doesn't happen, it won't turn it off, and there are some Google Play Services components that do that as well.
Anyone else have this problem with the icon in the status bar of the talkback icon showing up in settings saying that it is on?
I check the settings and it is definitely off but the icon remains.
I've restarted the device and reset the icon by turning it on and back off, but eventually the icon finds itself back on randomly.
It's pissing me off.

Same problem here . Usually happens after a restart. Only way I get rid of it is by enabling it and disabling it again (though operating in Talkback mode is a bit of a work and takes a bit of understanding of how to operate...like using using two fingers to swipe the screen and double tap instead of a single tap to select an option. Hence I would not recommend my way of getting rid of the icon, unless you know what you are doing ).
Samsung should really come up with a fix of this annoying bug.
Happen to me as well until I uninstall all apps that use this method to push notifications.
I.e. go launcher notification plugin

I have looked everywhere and cannot find anyone with an HTC 10 that has this icon could someone please inform me what it is?
It's the icon left of the Bluetooth icon
It's your GPS icon.

Why does it have a cross through it? I haven't seen anyone else's phone with that
Means the GPS setting is either in battery saving or device only mode. The icon you are probably used to seeing is when location is set to high accuracy.
My GPS has never shown that icon no matter what mode it's in. It's always the little "map marker" type thing and only comes on when the GPS is active. I always keep mine on Battery Saving, but I just tried turning GPS off, and I didn't get that icon.
Just thinking... Is it theme related only? Could you keep all of your settings the same but switch themes? I'd be interested to see if it goes away.
i think it means that your trusted location in Smart Lock is disabled
Or, that Location is not set for High accuracy

So Google App is turning location on 24/7. If I go into app permissions and deny it, the icon in the status bar goes away instantly. And comes back instantly as soon as I allow it. I have good gps lock in other apps. I have cleared all data in it....no change.
Any one else, or any ideas what to do next?

Hello...
Not sure it will help... Has it something to do with "location history" ?
Google app trying to locate you all the time?
Try looking at Google app > settings > accounts & privacy > Google activity control > location history
Try turning it off and see if location enables itself yet?!
Good luck...
Hey,
Forgot to add my screenshot
Cheers...
That was a good idea, but alas no change.
Bump, I found something on this.
If I have location on high accuracy Google App gets a lock and the location icon in the status bar goes away. As soon as I switch location back to device only Google App locks the location icon back on.
I can repeat this every time.
Could a couple of people test this for me to confirm and let me know please?
Really XDA? No one has 30 seconds to switch Location to Device Only and tell me if it locks the location icon on?
Are you using the pixel launcher? If you are then try to deny location for it too.

I have the situation under control. I can deny Google and it's fine. Or I can set location to High Accuracy. Just trying to get confirmation it is a Google bug so I can report it.
