[Solved] GT-N7100 Display gone flickering - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Just reporting a problem I had with my note 2.
Was on MIUI note2 rom. The display went flickering while using and the device was very hot. My note2 was kept near my laptop and the heat from my cooling fan could have been the culprit. Any way I took the battery out for half an hour and slowly the display came back to normal. Does any one has experienced the same kind of issue?
More over I was flashing from morning itself and could have been one of the contributing factors. Any way guess its over. Will report if there are any further events
Thank you all.

Heat causes the flicker on grey backgrounds

Hi everyone,
I have worked out that its heat that causes the phone to start to flicker. I put my phone in the freezer for about seconds seconds (don't advice anyone else to do this) and boom the flicker went away for a while.
So this means its not the screens which are faulty looks like a hardware design fail to me. Whats the long term effect of this on the device? Could it cause the phone to stop working? Who knows but i cant belive HTC did not catch this during testing.

I played Glowball for at least a half hour yesterday and my display didn't flicker. So it's not all of them.
mate flicker is a defect, end, my hox heats to 53deg n no flicker
Definitely not heat related, I noticed the flicker as soon as the several I've had were delivered, they were freezing at the time, as they'd been in a couriers van all day in cold weather. If anything it then became more intermittent as it warmed up.

[Q] SM-T320 Restarting without root.

I just noticed that sometimes when my tab is on low battery and I keep on playing games, it suddenly reboot and reboot 2-4 times before it goes back to the home screen and settle there. What seems to be the problem? I had experienced this issue last year, maybe November then it happened again this time.
Did your issue ever get fixed?
I also have a stock sm-t320 and it does the same thing. I think it might be a tablet issue as I might be overheating, although it doesn't feel warm.
Mine randomly reboots and then the battery percentage acts goofy, going up and down. It also happens when intense games are being played like mnecraft. I think I might just send mine in to Sammy to see if they can fix it before my warranty is up.
solve your problem replace the batteries.

T700 becoming unstable when battery lowers

Hi,
I've a strange behavior from my T700 that I was initially thinking due to the 5.0.2 but I'm no longer sure about that.
The problem is about the home screen that often freezes or make some stripes on the screen.
Since it appeared only after the Lollipop update, I thought it was due to the infamous problem of memory corruption in the 5.0.2.
Sometime it is so horrible that I'm obliged to reboot several times the tablet that anyway remains unstable.
Digging deeper, I'm observing the instability is tied to the level of the battery gauge... the lower, the worse. If I plug the charger, I get a stable reboot.
After Lollipop the system looks having gained battery lifetime, but in reality calibration looks having changed and the tablet became unstable when gauge is below 40% (well, it is difficult to say because sometime the gauge remains blocked around 50-55%, and moves to <10% only after a couple of reboots).
Question: is it happening only to me (in which case I may assume my tablet is defective so I have to sent it back for repair in warranty), or a common behavior with this very bad update (in which case I may consider to switch back to Kitkat)?
Thanks

Just go to service center and claim a warranty for new battery replacement.
Its the infamous batterygate of Tab S. The longer you wait, the worse it gets.
I just get battery replacement yday and the Tab S is working like new, mine is T705 with KitKat.
It only took about 30mins to replace the battery.
And I got the same issue as you before. No software fix can rectify the problem.
I had the exact same problem. It's not sofware related. I opened my tab, disconnected the battery and connected it again and the problem disappeared. And re-appeared a few month later. I did tje same trick and it worked again. In my opinion, the faulty one is the battery connector, not the battery itself..
Plus: the best tool to open your tab is a guitar pick..
Having same problem over here with my Tab S 8.7 (T700).. At about 60% my screen starts to flicker once a while. Was planning on a factory reset and otherwise going to the service center as it is still warranty.
I had not yet time to go to service (they said they need to investigate, I'm afraid service will take several weeks, not just 30min).
In the meantime, I'm realizing that tablet in power saving mode has no problems at all... A good workaround while waiting before servicing it.

For what it's worth, a friend was having the exact same problem and we were both sure he would have to at least open it up and check the battery connection. However, he did a factory reset (he was still on stock 5.0.2) and the flickering/flashing/freezing problems disappeared...for what it's worth.
TiTiB (tweak it 'til it breaks)...Galaxy Tab S | SMT-T700 | klimtwifi...AICP 5.1.1
It may be not software related but! With a few tweaks it seems to stabilize again... A couple drops with the cover, then lollipop update and it was it, problems started... Removed the cover seems to help, then custom rom, skyhigh kernel and some power tweaks here and there, 14% right now with 6:30 to 7 hours screen on! No errors so far!
Service will reset the device before any intervention, so better I do it myself and check if problem is still there.
The problem appeared only after the Lollipop update and although may be totally uncorrected (once, it happened to me a S3 battery almost exploded just after an os update, what a chance!) it is worth a try (there are also some other strange effects that looks more related to memory corruption, although those may be caused by abnormal battery levels).
I'll keep you posted

LG G3 Screen Flickers, Distorts, and Fades to Black

This problem just started about a week ago. Sometimes after a few seconds of the screen being on, it will flicker, mostly at the corners. However, most of the time it will distort and eventually fade to black. It mostly seems to do it when the phone is warmer. For instance, in my office at work or home, where it's cool, it will not happen hardly at all. But in my truck on the way home, outside, or if I can feel heat on the back of the phone, it does it a lot.
All of that said, I know of the paper/eraser trick on the camera connector (which is very temporary, from what I've researched), but to me this seems to be a GPU/heat problem. Basically, I'm just trying to understand why this might be occurring. I don't want to order a new mobo and have it do the same thing. So, any help would be much appreciated!
How often is this happening to people??

It happens to me about 15-20 times a day. More on the weekends because I use it more.

I had a similar problem for about two months. I tried the paper thing over the camera sensor and I felt like it helped some but the problem still continued. The screen would just slowly go dark with vertical lines running through it. All apps would still work in the background while this was happening. I could boot to TWRP and this problem never happened while in TWRP which was odd. Seemed like if it was a screen issues or hardware malfunction it would happen all the time. That's when I decided to just flash back to stock. I was thinking about getting the S8 anyways so what the hell. I flashed to stock 10B and took every single OTA. Took all night but I've been running stock for over a day now and the issue has not replicated itself one time since reverting back to stock. I was on RR Nougat and Fulmics when it happened prior. Has to be a root or Rom issue? What ROM are you on?

I became so fed up with the issue that I caved and bought the Nexus 6P last year. My G3 was on stock OS, no ROMs. Pretty sure it was a hardware issue. I turn it on every now and again, and the same thing happens. Never really solved it. I may try flashing some ROMs at some point, but I think I'm done with Samsung devices for the time being. I absolutely love my Nexus 6P. Great phone. Waiting for the new version of the Pixel or the rumored new Nexus haha.
It's an issue due to bad quality soldering and the SoC overheating. When the phone is very warm (and the G3 tends to get quite warm on the Camera) and you keep using it, the bad soldering starts losing con ection.
So you're basically losing connection to your chip and that's why the phone is experiencing those problems. That's why putting pressure on the chip helps to restore the connection.
It's best to use a thermal pad and it's the best solution there is. Some people bake their motherboards but I don't recommend it since this always kills the motherboard in a few months.
You can also try looking for a replacement motherboard online.

absurd behaviour noticed in mi 9 se!

greetings to everyone! I've been using mi 9 se for more than 2 years, during this period i didn't face any major issue regarding hardware and software. for a while, it has started abnormal behaviour! device can't take any sort of minor pressure as a consequence it reboots automatically. such issue has started since last month and it continues... i used to play codm and one day i've noticed the phone took reboot automatically (didn't crash the app), it's normal that most of the phones get hot while doing any heavy tasks so i took the issue in a normal way after that trouble is a a routined companion while operating the phone! most of the time, phone reboots automatically while watching a fb video let alone surfing yt. after reaching the battery percentage below 50%; it becomes more difficult to operate the phone. can't even take a single photo, phone gets turned off and on automatically. one thing i've felt that between (90-100)% phone can be operated smoothly/peacefully as before. phone charges slowly. steps that i've taken to get rid of the issue: 1> Changed couple of roms (currently using eu ones) to percive whether it's a software issue. 2> changed chargers/charging cable but in vain (for slow charge issue). 3> about 80% space left on my phone. now it seems to be an issue of hardware rather than a hardware, battery might be creating the issue. also i'm confused between whether the issue has been created by battery or motherboard. thanks,
Hey,
had mostly the same issue. Repair Center first said might be motherboard or Bad Battery or Rom Issue. I ordered new Battery and changed it. Since then no issues. But nobody at xiaomi could say why.
