Not much more I can add... Is anyone aware of this issue? When I connect the phone, all connections to the router time out completely. Here's a sample ping to my ISP:
Code:

If this is a known issue, please let me know if there's a solution. This is bone stock, straight out of the box, with 4.2.2 installed.
I had a dlink dir-615 that didn't like android phones or tablets for some reason it would lock up whenever the device would go to sleep. Running netgear right now and few problems at the moment. The netgear does have some software glitches though.

My father's wireless router would always die (no more internet for anyone) when I connected to it. He since bought a new one and it no longer dies when I visit. I have a D-link DIR601 and it works just fine with any device I've ever connected to it.
I have read articles about other smartphones and tablets killing wireless routers too.

Hi guys, wonder if someone can help.
My Orbit is having problems connecting to my home internet over wifi... it will connect ok, and sometimes load pages, but then will stop and not find any pages....
My home PC setup is I am sharing my internet connection over a wireless card in my home pc. I am able to connect to this with my laptop no problems at all and as I said, have managed to connect with the Orbit and load a couple of pages in the past but not for long....
After advice, I have used task manager to ping google and got the following:
"Pinging 64.233.183.104 with 32 bytes of data

Does anyone know what the problem could be and what I could do to fix?
Cheers
I have the same problem, just looking at alternate roms now as mines starting to get a bit slow recently, as far as i know this has been an issue the entire time using the offical o2 wm6 rom, only had wm5 for a few days and can't remember if it did it there for me it drives me nuts the wifi thing!
You could try to set your routers speed to 11 Mbit/s instead to 54 Mbit/s or auto. I had a problem with a laptop's backup software that crashed because the router was set to auto and changed the speed all the time as routers usually do when the connectivity changes. I think when the router changes the speed from 54 Mbit/s to anything slower the wireless connection gets disconnected for a very short time. It could cause that problem.
Go to comm manager->settings->wireless lan-> Power Mode-> make best performance.
It helped for me.
and the same for me..... I've used several WM5 and WM6 ROMS and on every one, I have had to change the power settings for the WLAN from "middle of the road" to "best performance" for the internet to keep working.
It would always connect and get the first page, but would then "time out" if I didn't keey using it and then wouldn't load anything else.
I was wondering if anyone else was having a problem connecting to 5Ghz networks on their GN.
I have an Airport Extreme Dual band base station and my phone can only connect to the 2.4Ghz band.
Using Wifi analyzer I can see my 5Ghz network but trying to connect to it does nothing, if I set the wifi mode to 5Ghz only in Settings->wifi->advanced my network doesn't show up at all.
Anyone else expercing a similar issue? This is on a GSM Nexus with the 4.0.2 Yakuju build.
Can't say I've had a problem. Stock or Rooted, I was able to connect to my "5G" wireless connection. I was surprised to see it appear in the available networks.
Sorry man, no. I've connected to two different routers via 5g. One Netgear, one Asus.

I have a NETGEAR- N600 Wireless-N Dual Band Router with 4-port Gigabit Switch with no issues connecting.
Galaxy Nexus only connects on channels 36, 40, 44 and 48 on the 5Ghz band. You need to go into your router settings and change it from whatever it is right now (typically auto) to one of the numbers I just listed.
Anyone know why this has been limited to so few channels?
I know there are various regulatory reasons but the phone should be choosing the ranges relevant to my locale which are far higher than what I seem to be getting.

No issues here with my 5Ghz router. I have a dual band router and it picks up both bands.
I used to see my neighbors 5ghz network. It seems once I flashed the new Verizon baseband/radio that I can't anymore. I was standing above it and couldn't see it.
I'm thinking of buying one because houses are close together in my neighborhood and I can pick up dozens of networks. They all trample each other. My neighbor doesn't even use his.

Yeah anyone know why it's limited like that? My router is on channel 157 (not sure why) and although I could change it I don't see why I would need to
I also have a fourth generation of Apple's Airport Extreme, and I actually set up a separate network only on 5Ghz. Connecting perfectly fine on my GN, never had a single issue.
if you still having connecting issues, make sure to use AES instead of TKIP security.
5Ghz Wifi problems ? !
Hello
I have these Problems too.
Im now for 2 Month an owner of the SGN GSM, no connection problems since then.
But now since 3 days im unable to connect with my AVM Fritz 7390 WLAN Router and the 5GHZ on Channel 36 or 40 whatelse, the 2,4 Ghz works properly.
Im now on the Baseband i950XXKL1. But also with the Baseband XXKK6 no luck to connect
I just started getting these problems lately too, it used to connect no problem
5GHz worked fine for me on default settings with 4.0.1.
As soon as I upgraded to 4.0.2 (or later) it ceased to work.

FWIW, my Stock Verizon 4.0.2 GNexus has no problem connecting to my E4200 Router on 5GHz on Channel 161.

that is wired
mine will only 36 40 44 48 and all >48 are not visible -.-
also whenever multichannel n is active the GN seems to fail to connect, since I can only select the main channel then and not the subchannels
the REGzone is set to EU but that does not seem to fix it at all
I wonder if anyone else besides you can confirm a connection on a channel other than 36 40 44 48
Does anyone have a clue why adb pushing & pulling files over wireless is so slow (~500KB/s) when compared to adb over USB (~5MB/s), even when I'm using 5GHz 802.11N only a few feet from my netgear WNDR3700 router? Is adb just an inefficient dog over wireless or is it something else? Except for adb via wireless, when doing browser downloads or testing with the Speedtest app, I'm able to hit my maximum 25Mbps (~2.5MB/s) cable internet cap, and max out wireless N connection on the LAN, so it's not a wireless problem.
This is a question I've been meaning to ask for over a year now, since that's how long I've just been putting up with doing something else while waiting for the slow wireless xfers to finish before booting to recovery to install 'em. And the reason why I much prefer adb over wireless to usb, especially now with my SGS3, is because it charges MUCH faster while connected to the 1amp A/C charger VS USB's 0.5.
(The adb over wireless I'm using is CyanogenMod's "Settings > Developer > adb over network" option, but the adbWireless app is similarly slow)
WIRELESS example:
Code:
$ adb connect sgs3
connected to sgs3:5555
$ adb push JusTunBean_Aroma.v3.2.1.zip /sdcard/files/
[B]612 KB/s[/B] (187372560 bytes in 298.560s)
$ adb pull sdcard/files/JusTunBean_Aroma.v3.2.1.zip
[B]676 KB/s[/B] (187372560 bytes in 270.487s)
USB example:
Code:
$ adb push JusTunBean_Aroma.v3.2.1.zip /sdcard/files/
[B]5330 KB/s[/B] (187372560 bytes in 34.327s)
$ adb pull sdcard/files/JusTunBean_Aroma.v3.2.1.zip
[B]7384 KB/s[/B] (187372560 bytes in 24.779s)
My network and wireless bandwidth isn't the bottleneck, nor is my phone's CPU (as it might be with ssh encryption), nor is the storage speed, so what's wrong with this adb picture?
USB 2.0 has a max transfer rate of 480Mbps. Wireless networks are limited to 54 Mbps or 100-200Mbps according to the type of network.

I'm aware of the bandwidth limits, but that's not really the problem here (because you probably only read & replied to just my misleading question's title).
The question is why adb specifically is so slow (600K/s) over wireless when everything else over wireless is so fast (X MegaBytes/s)
Must be a limitation inside a dB since your USB bandwidth isn't that fast either. I rarely use adB so I can't give you a 100% sure answer

a well worded question
that is to say, your question...
hi zmore,
i came across this old post of yours inquiring why tcp push/pulls are so slow using ADB. I thought this was a terribly clear and thoughtful post, but no answer has been given. This is unfortunate for me because I'm facing the same problem. I've just started getting into android side-loading. I'm a novice, but I too was struck by how unnecessarily slow the xfers are. And it's clearly an issue with ADB.
I was wondering if you've managed to solve this problem in the last three years. It's a worthwhile thing to understand, and I haven't been able to find any information that really addresses it. Please help me, if you can.
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=75442
yeah this is really slow, so annoying
liltitiz is also very annoying, he wrote such a stupid answer, and those wifi speed limits he wrote are ok, very fast, so I wish I had at least those 54 Mbps (the minimal speed he wrote)
here's my tests using this command

Same here. Quite puzzled about this behavior as other apps which use data transfer over wifi were sending and receiving files at lightning speed but adb is struggling.

I had resolved this issue. The problem was my router which is located a bit far to which my laptop and phone are connected, hence the slow speed. So, I have created a mobile hotspot from my laptop and connected my phone to it. Then configured the wifi adb to newly set IP address. Now the wifi adb works seamlessly fast.

This is the question that many people need to answer! But in my opinion everything is done by google: tốt:
Hello,
I am currently running codefireX SR14. My provider is Petro-Canada Mobility. I am having issues when tethering through their "unlimited browsing service" Basically this service only allows http/SSL TCP traffic on ports 80/443.
Anyhow, I've been using autoproxy and this has allowed me greater functionality of most apps. Here lies the problem. When I attempt to tether (wifi hotspot or USB) Traffic is not being forwarded at all from the hotspot gateway. As a result, connected hosts cannot access the internet. After doing some initial troubleshooting, I have concluded the issue appears to be the OS itself.
Regardless of the situation, the hotspot gateway will not forward traffic with autoproxy connected, disconnected, or if I use my Junos VPN.
As a result I have 2 questions:
1)How does the Android tether operate?
2)Are there any "Backend" options I can access someone to force the gateway to forward traffic through autoproxy or my Junos VPN?
I have included the trouble shooting results below:
When tethered:
My PC IP = 192.168.43.83
gateway = 192.168.43.1
Ping to gateway is ok:
>ping 192.168.43.1
Pinging 192.168.43.1 with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 192.168.43.1: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=64
Reply from 192.168.43.1: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=64

Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms
This means my PC can reach the gateway fine (with autoproxy on and off) With that in mind, I try to ping the Petro-Canada proxy server:
Proxy server IP = 10.128.1.69
Ping to Proxy server fails
>ping 10.128.1.69
Pinging 10.128.1.69 with 32 bytes of data:

Ping statistics for 10.128.1.69:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),
This happens regardless if autoproxy is connected or disconnected. What this means is that the gateway traffic on my phone is not being properly forwarded.
When I usb tether it's the same issue:
PC IP:192.168.42.142
Gateway:192.168.42.129
Ping to gateway is ok:
>ping 192.168.42.129

At this point I believe the issue to be Android OS. I am running Jellybean 4.2.2, I also have Junos VPN installed, and I have full internet from my phone when connected (all ports tcp/udp) through Petro-Canada unlimited browsing. I still run into the same issue where trying to ping any outside IP results in a timeout. (i.e Google DNS 8.8.8.8)
I fixed the issue. I'm not sure if it's the ROM or my provider.
I have bought 2 Different OUYA units and thinking this issue is currently Out there to alot of users.
Issue is when you connect via wifi (which connection is fine ) BUT when you start to download anything AKA Updates (fail) or XMBC stream/download Fail. Also during the failure it hits all devices on the wireless network. such as my laptop goes from normal 30ms Ping to 500ms ping to 20000ms ping It varries. But all devices in network Almost seems like a DDOS attack or a broadcast storm haha

SCENARIOS Tested
Not working
1.) Both Ouyas Cant stream work and same issues arise when doing download updates via WiFI when connected to a ZyXel.(DSL modem 20mb)
2.) I bought a n300 Belkin router as a test which same issues are apparent when I did bridge mode from ZyXel to Belkin.
3.) Changed MTU size as a test from 1454 to 1492. no fix
4.) Disabled WPS on both routers. No fix.
Working
1.) I setup my macbook to bridge from WIFI to ethernet to the OUYA. (issue isn't apparent and doesn't blast the whole network)
2.) I setup my macbook to bridge Ethernet connection to WIFI from laptop where the router is at a few rooms away. (no issue)
3.) I took the other OUYA unit and used a Netgear AND a Dlink router And never any issue in either router setup.
4.) I connected OUYA local ethernet No issues.
5.) OUYA did work at a hotel but i wasnt sure what router model they had.
i might try a TCPDUMP and look at traces and convert the wifi to a DDWRT in attempt to see if its SW level at router types.
Also it seems other Android components are seeing the same issue with the NOT working scenario. but not sure where driver/software stack yet
FYI i also have a Tronsmart quadcore CX919 that fails and jams the WIFI the same way alsoalso when trying to sream or download and Also the tronsmart work on dlink/netgear as well.
Another test example.
i have been able to quickly get into ROOT for the Zyxel modem and go into /tmp directory and run tcpdump captures on multple interfaces And i see alot of TCP retransmissions but nothing out of the norm when i trigger the issue.
Something i did notice new. Its not like a broadcast kinda storm but I did the same test and when i try to download info from the OUYA device pings go up to 8000ms on the laptop via Wireless But when Im hard wired my laptop on the network has constant 40ms ping times.
So It seems something is jamming the wireless signal when trying to DL out. I changed multiple channels and moved to B only mode , G , N all by it self and no change. even shut down any option in the router i could think of WPS/UPNP.
