Touchscreen input with fingers while using SPen? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Note 2 users!
I'm using a new app which would benefit if I could use the SPen and my fingers on the touchscreen.
As soon as I use the SPen I can't use my fingers the touchscreen.
My Note 2 doesn't recognize them anymore...
Is there a way to enable touchscreen input and SPen at the same time? It would be great if someone could help me out with this problem.

That's generally up to the app developer to enable touch while the stylus is also being read, from what I recall reading the spen SDK docs.

=( So the app developers have to manually add something in the code of their app to enable this?
I don't think that they will do that...
Even if it id something many people with SPen would like to see.

LG Optimus Dual's gestures

Hi everybody!
Is there an application that lets you use lg optimus dual's gestures? I refer to the possiblity to move the cursor, when you are writing, left or right simply by hitting your device on the left or the right side.
Thank you in advance and sorry my english

Bump!
This sounds pretty interesting...
Yes this is possible, actually with a little bit of porting you could use the same app. The only real problem is that the hardware (accelerometer) is different. But it shouldn't be to big of a problem. How usefull this app would be is a second issue. You are aware that it is merely a gimmick and not even very functional on the optimus right?
Hope this informed you enough. If you want someone to develop it for you, just send out a request and donate kindly
Thank you for the explanation, my real problem is how to move between text easily, i red about this possibility but it's not an useful solution... Thank you tho for helping
Btw do you know how to move practically between text?

No problem, Could you elaborate on that? I don't understand what you mean exactly. You press where you want to have the cursor on text? On website its a longpress and then you can drag (and copy search etc) Is this what you mean?
I have some problems while typing a text message, for example, my finger isn't too much precise to choose the right place;
another important problem that i have is when i'm searching on Google: if what i'm searching is longer than the bar, and I'd like to edit the last word, i can't move the cursor too right beside i should tap the "x", that deletes all...
Sorry my English i tried to explain as best as i can, i hope that it's understandable...

Actually I know what you mean, google thing you can solve by making a text selection and draging it to the beginning. For the text problem there isnt really a solution. I got used to it pretty fast and im accurate now. Also the gingerbread keyboard is a bit better when it comes to text selection, if your not using it yet it might be worth giving a try
you can find a flashable package of the keyboard here.
Hope this will help you!
Edit: Text selection in google mobile is indeed not possible. A solution for this could be to use classic google which has a larger text box. (I am using this since the beginning, its actually faster and less buggy, downside is that you have to zoom in and out a bit more)
I already have a gingerbread keyboard, thank you...

Ok good, best keyboard imo. OT: you still want the dual gestures? Could ask some dev's to take a look at it
no i don't think i will, it's not so important, i don't want to bother a dev for so little...
Hahaha, lonely in this thread. We could have almost handled it with pm's

NFC Use through Lockscreen on Nexus 7 and Operating App In Front of Lock Screen

Hey guys,
I did some searching and asked in some IRC channels, but couldn't find a satisfactory answer. I heard Biwoto Cerbero can maybe do I what I want it to do, but even though I'm in New Jersey, their app keeps downloading in Spanish for me. (I emailed them, I'll update this thread if that app can do what I want)
Basically, I have a Nexus 7 I'm trying to enable as a beer pouring authenticator for the Kegbot project. NFC authentication is easy past the lockscreen, but I also want to be able to use the tablet. Seeing as how I'm in college, letting some drunk friends play with my personal gmail sounds like a bad idea.
So I have two questions. One, I haven't seen this for the Nexus 7, but I know it's possible-- how hard would it be (presumably in a custom ROM) to enable NFC to work with the lockscreen off?
Two, is it possible to implement a top lock over my pattern unlock, wherein the top lock (could be anything, but presumably just a simple swipe) would allow access to only one application (the Kegbot app that responds to authenticated NFC tags by offering to pour a beer), but still keep another lockscreen in place to prevent other apps from being used?
That would also allow me to keep an app that writes specific strings or something to the tags to allow for access control if I don't want people rewriting their own NFC cards. (Though I could always write lock those)
Thanks!
Hate to reply to myself, but I think I've found the answer.
So my googling turned up this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5iaXdvdGEuY2VyYmVybyJd
It has some localization issues they're trying to fix, but it's not hard to change the language to English if you play around with the settings.
I've been emailing back and forth with one of the developers, who has been helping me out a ton. If you have the premium version (only a dollar), you can call their lock screen (either PIN or NFC) to come up after you leave the application you are in that you want to restrict access to. So I have my face unlock, get past the Cerbero lock, then I open my app. I call an intent in the app on destruction of the launcher activity that brings up the lock again. It's not the cleanest solution, but it works for my purposes.

Did you have any luck being able to use NFC without having to unlock the screen? i've seen other device specific solutions on xdad but nothing for the Nexus 7
Thanks.
Some time ago there was a modified nfc apk wich worked in both my nexus s and galaxy nexus...and it could do that.

I belive it was on gnex themes and apps forum.
Anyone found out how to get NFC working without the screen being on?
I've tried several methods under Gnex and GS3 forums but it doesn't work.

[Q] Use Note 2 for editing on mac

Hey all,
I do a little photoshop editing on my macbook, and I'd love to be able to use my Note 2 as a tool to help edit photos. I have tried Splashtop a little, but I was really after something a little better. I'd really like to be able to kind of use my phone as a mouse sort of, but actually use the pen instead.
Is this possible?
thanks
dean
you are planning to use note 2 as a touch input right?
maybe you should google it.

Well it is a wacom digitizer, sounds great!
Maybe run vnc server on the mac and a vnc client on your phone? Not sure how well that would work resolution wise. I haven't tried using TeamServer for a tablet purpose, but that may also be an option.
I'd like to hear what you find works best.

Bringing up Menu Key Features via Bluetooth Mouse or Keyboard

Good morning all genius friends on XDA Galaxy Note II forum. I wonder if you also have experienced this hardship of not being able to activate the menu key using your bluetooth keyboard or bluetooth mouse. It is really annoying especially if you had setup your smartphone next to the TV and want to bring up the menu on the main desktop screen, it won't happen. I have Genius bluetooth mouse and Logitech bluetooth keyboard, and basically tried all keys combinations trying to show the Menu but to no success.
Has anyone been able to do that? That would be awesome. Big time.
Any I wish you all a wonderful morning/day..

Thank you Lucian, and sorry for posting this in the wrong part of the forum. And yes I mean the left physical button menu, I couldn't find any way to bring it up with bluetooth mouse or keyboard, I use it alot actually with alot of programs, like Google Play where I check my applications updates, and many other software that require access to menu to perform some tasks.

Ok,i was having something in my mind to solve this problem,i made some search and i found a solution for this problem
Just find virtual button bar...who will activate some buttons on screen like home, back etc but menu access is the most important in this situation and voila...u don't need to physical touch your note 2 for that.
I found at least 1 app with the same functions but this i like it more.

[Q] Note 2 Samsung Keyboard Auto Spacing Issue

Yesterday I received the 104.88 MB firmware update for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 ( GT-N7100) on Android 4.4.2. After updating my device I am facing a very annoying bug from Samsung Keyboard.
When I type something the keyboard predicts the word for example if I am typing 'Hel' it will predict the word as 'Hello'( which is great) but when you click on the predicted text it gives you two spaces automatically instead of one. It continues for each and every predictive text. If I turn off the auto spacing feature, no space is provided. So it is either zero or two but not one.
It is very annoying to keep deleting extra spaces between words of every sentence, especially when typing an email or tweeting where characters are limited.
It looks like this when you type with and without predictive text and auto spacing features.
Please help.
This is not a solution per se to your issue. But I would suggest that you ditch the Samsung keyboard and install SwiftKey from play store. It is now free. And much better than any other keyboard that I have tried. Give it a try.

I am also facing the same issue in my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7100).
Waiting for an answer/solution................
---------- Post added at 11:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:34 PM ----------
Swift Key works fine and does not show auto spacing issues. But I don't want to ditch Samsung keyboard because Swift Key app doesn't support S Pen Handwriting mode but Samsung keyboard does it well. And I use both Keyboard and S Pen Handwriting mode depending upon situation (for example: I use handwriting mode when sitting comfortably and Keyboard+Prediction when I am on travel/commute).
Please someone help me and others having same issue. How can we get rid of this two space prediction issue on Samsung keyboard on SG Note 2?

I just checked on my phone. The double spacing bug is indeed present in Samsung keyboard. We can only wait for an update from Samsung to resolve this issue. On the plus side, Swype keyboard is recognizing S-Pen input. So if you guys want you could try it. I am quite happy with SwiftKey. I mostly use flow input and SwiftKey is perfect for that.
Thanks for the reply.
I agree with you that Swype keyboard recognize S-Pen input if you use typing/swiping (flow input). But I don't think it is compatible for Handwriting mode with S-Pen.
As you mentioned, I am waiting (probably there are more like me) for an update from Samsung to resolve this double spacing bug in Samsung keyboard. Let us hope they will fix this bug soon.

Any way we can make Samsung know about this?
I guys, I've just registered for this topic as I am facing the same problem. Since the last update (which I recall it was about a week ago) I am having the 2 spaces problem after I pick any of the suggested words. Now, is there any way we can make Samsung know about this? Like a bug report or something similar. I don't want to leave Samsung's keyboard because it worked just fine and I am used to it, plus it supports handwriting and well, I am just used to how letters are organised and the distance between them, I type fluently.
Any help will be welcomed, thank you guys!
I googled and found that there is a way and someone has already reported this bug/issue in Samsung Developers Forum.
Let us wait for a response from Samsung.

Am experiencing the same double spacing issue with predicted text on the Samsung keyboard. Input using the Continuous Input function is fine though. Only touch type is messed up.
Build number: KOT49H.N7100XXUFNI4. This update was only about 84MB as opposed to the 104 MB update the OP received. Not sure of the release date but I only installed it yesterday.
Have installed SwiftKey to use in the meantime.
This topic creator, i.e. me, is the one who has reported in the Samsung Developer forum but still no response. I think it requires a 'famous' tech blogger to take this issue so that Samsung notices the problem. BendGate , GapGate but Note 2 users have SpaceGate !
Oh! I see, so it is you who reported this issue in Samsung Developer forum. Thanks for the information. Also thanks for posting it on Samsung Developer Forum, let us hope someone from Samsung Developers will notice it and do the needful. :fingers-crossed:
Like you and me there are a lot of Note 2 users who are waiting for a response from Samsung on this problem.
Let us hope and wait for a positive response from Samsung on this problem. :fingers-crossed:

I've just started having the same problem after the upgrade. I hope someone fixes this as it's a real nuisance. I've turned auto space off. You get so used to typing in a particular way then discover thatihavejustwrittenasentencewithnospaces.

I just got an update of around 60 MB size and the double spacing issue no longer exists. Thanks to Samsung!

Just downloaded the update 3 days ago, which introduced the issue on my Note 2 device. What is amazing, here we are several months since the pronlem has been reported to Samsung, and the issue still exists. Anyway to backout the last update?
